Honey flight flavors as of 12/29/23

This wasn't on our plans originally but we spotted it while headed to our Airbnb and it was a must stop. They advertise honey and mead tastings and both were top reasons for checking it out. Entering, you realize there's more than just honey and mead. They have beer tastings, mead tastings, a honey tasting, and a creamed honey tasting. They also have lots of locally sourced items for purchase and plenty of honey-based goodies. We opted for the mead and creamed honey tasting. I've not ever had a honey tasting or heard of creamed honey, so this was a very cool option. It comes with six different flavors and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed this. I *REALLY* appreciate when there's something for the little ones to do/taste to make it more fun. She liked all but one of the honeys and we bought her favorite one. The mead tasting was also great and I walked out with two bottles. The shop and tastings are pricey for sure, but it's a great experience with delightful flavors and is worth the try for sure. Plus, how many times can you say you did a honey tasting!

What a gem we found while traveling this road!! We love honey especially when you know where it comes from directly. This place allowed you to sample different meads in a mead flight! They were all very good. We found one we really like and bought a big growler for our vacation. They have a really nice gift shop offering a wide variety of honey and creamed honeys, candles , soaps and small items. The main attraction of course was the bees that you could see in a glass panel going to work.. signs on wall giving you information on different bees.. the staff member we had was a very friendly informative gentleman. There was local beers in a fridge you could purchase and he answered all our questions so we'd know what to pick.. lots of gifts and cool stuff to buy.. highly recommend stopping if your ever in the area.

Daffodils lined the white picket fence as well as the perimeter of the building. I loved the flagstone walkway and we knew we were in for a treat. With grounds this immaculate, there's bound to be a gorgeous shop inside! Ohhhh, we were right! I just kind of stopped in my tracks when we opened the door and took it all in. It was beautifully appointed and displayed with care and attention to details. Every table, every shelf was meticulously arranged with unique gifts and décor. Much of the inventory is modern and new, while other pieces are fabulous antiques. This is not your run of the mill shop, for the wares are carefully selected to spark joy and evoke creativity. One of my fav pieces were the carved graphite writing implements. I purchased several of these cool "pencils" which were really works of art in themselves! A whole area is dedicated to gourmet foods, spices and teas. Another section features bar ware, and yet another delicious candles! Old knives, coins, fishing gear, vintage tools, beer mugs and cigars are some of the items you will see in this unique shop. We left with our hands full and our heads filled with decorating ideas! The place is a bit pricey, but money ebbs and flows, go for it!

We bought the "spicy" honey, birthday cards, antique and new lures and a children's book. Glad we noticed this gem in Afton and highly recommend you stop in.

How have I never reviewed Hill Top when I have been going for 8 years?!?…read more I love this place. The servers are knowledge and friendly, and their wines and meads are so unique and well made. You can do a tasting of 8 of their wines and meads for $5, which is a great option if you have never been before. Hill Top is unique because it makes wines out of fruit, so you'll have wine here that you will never had anywhere else. I love their sweet melon wine, hunter's moon mead, and dragon's blood mead, among many others. Hill Top also has a great outdoor seating area where you can watch the goats and working dogs around the farm, with great views.

I have to always put Hill Top on my list when I am in the area. I ended up leaving with 12 bottles of wine and a jar of the wild flower honey. I wish they'd attend Norfolk VA wine festival again, I miss them so much! Emily "The traveling nurse", ended up assisting us during our time there. She was very welcoming, upfront and honest with her recommendations for our 2 flights that we selected. We chose from meads and berry wines as well. Emily didn't steer us wrong at all. After ordering we sat outside and enjoyed the breeze. Both flights came with oyster crackers and chocolate covered almonds. The Lavender and Persimmons was my fave selection. However, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to snag some bottles of Madison to go. The goats on site were too cute as well! I wish they'd attend Norfolk VA wine festival again, I miss them so much!
