I'm so excited to have found an all-you-can-eat pizza, garlic sticks, and salad bar! Monday-Friday from 11am-2pm, they offer lunch buffet (including a fountain drink) for $11.99. After the sixth lunch buffet purchase, you get a free lunch buffet! When I went for the lunch buffet at noon, they had The Everest (classic combination pizza: pepperoni, Italian sausage, salami, mushrooms, black olives, bell peppers on red sauce), Pineapple Chicken Luau (grilled chicken, bacon, pineapple on BBQ sauce), Hawaiian (ham and pineapple), Pepperoni (curly pepperoni cups on red sauce), and Garlic Sticks with Cheese. Staff constantly checked in to make sure there were plenty of pizza slices for the patrons, including myself. They have both table and booth seatings. I love how they have claw machines, which gives the pizza joint a fun and inviting vibe. I've also separately ordered a large 14" pizza - half Mt. Veggiemore and half Hawaiian, which was served hot and fresh. Always coming back - whether for their lunch buffet or to order their specialty pizzas! Mountain Mike's is a large pizza chain (over 300 in US), that has locations mainly in the Western U.S. It competes with other pizza chains that offer lunch time AYCE pizza buffets. I first heard about it through my credit card offers. Brought my wife and her mom to the closest location in Norwalk when it first opened around 11 am on a weekday (specifically to have the buffet, priced at $11.99 without drink) and found the price and food to be good. The first Mountain Mike's opened near Stanford in Palo Alto in 1978 (it's interesting how some chain restaurants opened first as a local joint on a college campus and then grew to become a lot more than that...Jimmy John's comes to mind, though I am not comparing EIU to Stanford). There are 271 locations in California, with over 30 in SoCal now. The set-up of the restaurant was a bit different than I was expecting from a buffet restaurant. It's located on the first story in a multi-story office building with other restaurants. Parking can be tough: there's a lot of surface parking but the many other businesses in the complex (including a LA fitness) take up a lot of spaces as well. We were one of the first ones to come in. You order and pay first (then handed two plates: one for pizza and one for salad), and find seating in the small indoor dining room (maybe enough seating for 20 diners) or larger front patio (another 20). It doesn't have dedicated steam tables for the pizza, instead the pizzas are put under heat lamps at the front counter, and a very small refrigerated salad section is part of the price. This means the selection is small for both the pizzas and salad bar, and really only 2 people can be selecting at a time. They offer different types of crusts on the menu, but the only one at the buffet was traditional (typical pillowy hand-tossed) with a crispy bottom, but a bit thick for my preference. There is space for 4 pizzas (the kitchen combines different topping slices into one pan, so there are probably 8 different types at a time) and a small basket of cheese bread. The salad bar was basic but the toppings were fresh. Off to the side, there is a self-serve soda fountain with Pepsi products. Next to that, there is a 'Game' section, just 6 different crane games, ripe to take your money. On the initial pizzas, the cheese was plentiful along with plenty of toppings, and the crust was well cooked. As the pizzas were getting refilled, the replacements were not as good: amount of cheese was definitely a lot less and the toppings were more haphazard. I tried both pizzas with marinara (liked) and bbq sauce (not as much). The toppings were good: with the vegetables being sliced thinly so cooked al dente, and the quality of the sausage was solid (far better than Dominos or Pizza Hut). And their classic pepperoni pizza was well liked by our group. Read on-line that at other places, one can ask for specific pizzas to be made for the buffet, but didn't seem like that was encouraged here (since only space for 4 pizzas and no thin crust). Regardless, for $11.99, this is great value, especially with a salad bar. read more

Visited during their lunch buffet, which takes place Mon-Fri 11AM-2PM. With the drink, it came out to be around $16 and without the drink, about $13. I've been here twice in the span of a couple of weeks and there wasnt a crowd, we were able to sit our group of 8 easily. There were 4 pizzas that were half and half different toppings, bread sticks, salad bar with lettuce, a decent variety of veggies, and dressings. The pizza itself was pretty good. The texture, the breading was better than I expected from an AYCE pizza buffet. The BBQ chicken and the pepperoni were probably my faves! We ordered 1 pizza for pick up and when I picked it up the box didn't even feel warm. The guy behind the counter barely said 3 words to me and when I walked in there weren't any workers in the front or even visible in the kitchen. We took it home and the pizza wasn't cold but hardly warm. As I was eating I thought the cheese was extra chewy because it wasn't hot. I ate the slice and it didn't taste great to me so I stopped eating. Upon further inspection, I pulled off the cheese and toppings and the top part of the dough was raw. Hubby picked up our order so I'll have to report back on inside/outside details, as well as in-person service on my next visit. And yes, there's going to be another visit as the pizza was exactly what I was craving. We got a medium create your own, 1/2: 1/2 pizza. Half was pineapple/ham, other half was sausage/mushroom. The crust was perfectly cooked, not soggy. It could've used a little more sauce, but maybe that would make it soggy. First time visit on a Sunday afternoon about 2:30pm. The place was immaculately clean inside, the salad bar looked fresh and untouched and nobody was inside. A friend recommended we eat here so why not? I was so impressed with the quickness of my order, the freshness of ingredients and the never ending toppings on my pizza! It looked so good but the taste? IT MIGHT BE THE BEST PIZZA I've ever had! And the large was soooo large, in diameter and length. One large pizza could probably feed a family of 5 easily. I honestly kept coming back because I saw it was under new management and would give it a try. The pizza is good, but the wings and boneless wings have deteriorated so much! This last time I ordered boneless wings, there was so much breading and it was not crispy, it was mushy. The inside of the boneless wing was juicy with a slight hint of pink? Needless to say I didn't finish eating them. The service is ok. The marinara sauce was just right and the sausage was good quality. I ate the whole pie. (5/5) Honey Garlic Wings - This took 30 minutes to prepare but was like the best wings I've ever had. Super moist and soft, flavors hit and were good. (5/5) Mini Churrs - If you get the heart shaped pizza this is a cheap must add. For $2.99 extra you get like 10 pieces of churros which equate to maybe 2 full length ones. It's deliciously fried and perfectly sweet, a nice end meal treat. My mom and I asked a bunch of questions. His customer service was awesome. We decided on the buffet. It doesn't offer many items, but there is a variety of pizza and it was fresh. The salad bar was fresh and delicious as well. There were 8 different types of pizzas. The buffet is $13.99 w/ fountain drink, Pepsi products, or $11.99 without drink. This is hands down some of the best pizza I've had! Although their wing flavors are good, most wings are small in size. The one thing I dislike about this location is the service. The times that I've gone to dine in an hour and a half before closing you can tell they're in a rush to leave so definitely not the best service, they just care about getting out. Love watching sports and wish they had the TVs on more often. Couple times I've gone the TVs are off. Would definitely help with the vibes and keep people longer with something to watch!
