El Taco Rico has been a Norwalk staple dating back to my youth. My grandmother lived down Firestone and El Taco Rico was the go-to Mexican spot. Every visit is nostalgic and the food is always good. You cant go wrong with a plate of tacos and some chips and salsa which is always generously portioned. I love this place. I went on a thurday and the place was filled up... (Because it's good!) People seemed to be of all different ages, and races... All finding something they enjoy. They have never made a mistake on my order, and it's always delicious. I love the taco rico plate. Very good red sauce. Gives me Tex Mex vibes. They give complimentary salsa, and it's actually good. Lady working the register spoke perfect English and I received my complicated order exactly as I asked. People say they have been coming here for 10+ years, you dont see that normally unless a place is consistent, good, and worth it. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, a little before 1, and I just knew it was going to be busy! We ordered our food and had to wait around until a table opened up. Once seated, we got our drinks right away. And complimentary chips and salsa which are the only reason I love this place HAHA jkjk I've been coming here since I was little so it's very nostalgic for me. I love their wet burritos! But this day i got tacos de carnitas and asada. The carnitas were so soft but needed salt. The asada was crispy and full of flavor. I got an horchata & it was DELICIOUS. My mom and I were in the area and wanted a casual restaurant, the Yelp reviews hold up! We had one carne aside wet burrito and the beef soup. Everything was delicious, the chips and salsa were fresh and hot chips, the soup was healthy. Portion of the burrito was big. We also had Jamaica drink or Sorrel if you are Caribbean same drink, was a little sweet. Service was fast and friendly and clean inside. Would come again when I'm in the area. read more

If you're looking for good enchiladas you gotta try these. Just as good or better than los compadres and acapulco enchiladas.

I went there for the first time yesterday on my way home from work. Got the wet burrito and the portion size was great. Good for two meals. But the issue that I had was the seasoning on the rice and the burrito. It didn't have much seasoning at all. A bit bland. Especially for the rice. I expected more of the tomato based season. But tasted almost like plain rice. As for the burrito, you can taste some of the beef flavor, but still lacked some seasoning. Overall, not bad because it wasn't greasy so that's a plus. I'll try them out one more time and try another dish and see if any better. read more

Idk if it's cuz I'm from Nor Cal but this has got to be the best burrito I have had. The service was very quick and painless and the atmosphere had authenticity. Most definitely would come back here again during my work trips. read more

I've been eating taco Rico since I was a kid. My mom used to work in Norwalk and always brought us here. I don't know what they put the in the chicken Cesar salad but it's amazing till this day. I finally visited again recently after moving to Norwalk and had the chicken salad and a torta de asada. They also give you chips and salsa which is a plus. Service has always been great and prices are not crazy. Definitely will be visiting more often. read more

Decided on Taco Rico to cater a small holiday gathering @ home. I had been here in the past and seemed like something changed ( quality). We ordered a fewest items to try, and decide what to serve. All items were delicious just like old times. We were hosting for 10 people and wanted a good variety. Maria was very helpful w/ recommendations and we decided on Taco Rico Plate, chicken Enchiladas and Cheese Enchiladas, Beans & Rice. Chips & Salsa was provided, along with/ flour & corn tortillas. We decided to have it delivered rather than having to pick up the day of. My favorite Mexican restaurant. I always introduce my friends and family to this place. Probably the most authentic in my opinion. Their chips and salsa are amazing. The service here is always outstanding. It's self order at the counter and seat yourself type of establishment. It's not very big and depending on time this place gets busy. It's fast service. Clean. Average noise. You can't go wrong with anything you order. Any burrito is delicious especially if you get a wet burrito. My all time favorite dish is the El Taco Rico plate. I've had it both with Steak and Chicken. I love everything about it. They have really good beans and rice. They have really good quality food. Flavors are authentic. Highly recommend. read more

I would give it zero stars this restaurant is terrible my stomach was literally killing me 10 min after leaving the restaurant also note I ordered a torta de asada and ate less than half as soon as I saw this thin what I would like to call steak sandwich I knew it was over! Unfortunately I was way over in the opposite corner. There is a 50 cent card surcharge, but the price was decent for a bean and cheese burrito and a 20 ounce drink. It also comes with chips if you dine in. The chips were light and tasty, but the salsa was a bit weak. The burrito tasted good but was messy and runny and fell apart. Though the cashier was nice, the food was not prepared very well. We received our fries early, but they were undercooked. We also ordered two plates of enchiladas. My favorite place to get chicken flautas--absolutely amazing! Their fried batter for the flautas is one of a kind--it's nice and flaky and still has a great crunch going on. I also ordered carne asada tacos, and it did satiate my cravings for tacos. Of course, not your typical street-taco standard, but it does satiate. I had a doordash gift card and used it for the grilled chicken plate. First of all, the rice was so bland, no flavor. The chicken was not grilled at all. It was paper thin chicken that was also bland that looked like it was precooked chicken that had been microwaved. The portions of rice and beans wasn't even a cup full put together. The beans weren't too bad, but was ruined by a big blob of guacamole on half of it, I'm allergic to avocado, but there was no mention of it being on the plate. I wish I had not wasted my gift card for such lousy food. I'm white and could have made more flavorful Mexican food. read more
