We always grab pasta (and blood orange vinegar) when we're at the market. There really isn't a bad choice (except the chocolate pasta, not sure if anyone actually buys that). We tried their red curry orzo last weekend and were blown away by the flavor and heat. The cold salad recipe they gave with it was a hit at our house. A must visit for anyone in Seattle!

Garlic Chive Seashells, Italian Pesto Blend, and Lemon Parsley Mafeldine. Just three among dozens of choices.

There are some lessons which can't be taught, regardless how willing the student to learn, or the professor to teach. No one can prepare you for healing a broken heart, English food, or how to give stellar customer service. You got it, or you ain't. Where I grew up (Montana), it seems getting over a man is devastating---but only for a week or two. The right one is there, somewhere. Be patient. English food in Montana? Nah. We know how to cook without boiling everything to death, how to season food, and how to make a sauce or gravy (it's all in the roux-hoo-hoo, y'know). And as for customer service in Montana, if you buy something there you haven't had before, the kid behind the counter will explain the process patiently, perfectly and with a smile. And offer to come cook it for you. While still smiling, a mouth that looks like the entrance to an igloo. In Seattle, a city known for its amazingly polite freeze between strangers, finding someone who earns their wage by providing excellent customer service is like looking for the sailor on an aircraft carrier who shoves off a virgin and returns to port in the same condition. If you want to experience the rarity, the absolute pleasure, of exchanging money for pasta, head yourself to Pike Place Market and find Pappardelle's Pasta. It's exactly 45 paces from the main entrance to the market, opposite the fishmongers. It's also the tidiest, cleanest and most-organized of stalls in the market. That alone makes shopping there worth the trip through the skyscraper-lined caverns of Seattle worth the trip. Once there, you'll find pasta of almost every shape, composition and color imaginable, each one unique in its responsibility of attracting and carrying a specific sauce. If you're not certain which does what, the people behind the counter will happily assist (are they all from Montana?). This brings me to the subject of the review: stellar customer service. Young man Gozi had people gathered around the Pappardelle stall when I arrived. I kept my six feet away, waiting for them to make their selections. Then it was my turn. Gozi greeted me with a smile that, while not visible behind the mask, was obvious in his voice. He wasn't there to sell me anything; he was, if anything, a guide for people wanting to move their pasta experience beyond de Cecco and other national brands. All I wanted was something to hold a cheese sauce for my Thanksgiving side dish. Gozi presented all the best options, and recommended the Garlic Chive Seashells. From there, he pointed out the different shapes and colors of the Italian Pesto Blend. Sure. Two, please. Finally, the Lemon Parsley Mafaldine was staring me in the face, and was new to me. "It's our best-seller", says Gozi. "Who am I to impede tradition?", says me. With each selection, Gozi pulled pre-printed recipes for each pasta for me, and provided his own perceptions of them. What he has is magic, a "he-must-be-born-with-it" ability to treat every person he meets as he would people he'd see at the Thanksgiving table (on a normal year). Impeccable. Gozi, from which town in Montana did you come?! The transaction completed, I was given my receipt, and I offered my assessment of the entire seven minutes I was at Pappardelle's: "If I could bottle your enthusiasm and customer service skills and sell it in the stall next to this one, I'd be a billionaire." This time, a laugh, another radiant smile, and off I went to get a sauce from de Laurenti's, cheese from Beecher's and a crusty Italian baguette from Three Sisters Bakery. Sure, I could get any of those at the Fred Meyer store close to my home, and there's nothing wrong with the mass-marketed national brands. But the people at Pike Place Market, including Papparedelle's Pasta are The Little Folks we should be patronizing at every opportunity---particularly now, when they need us as much as we need them. Really, though, what I got today was my wallet seduced by incomparable customer service, and my personal commitment (if only to myself) to return in future. Thanks, Gozi, for helping me part with $24.50 (plus tip) as easily as if I were on a bicycle, and falling off of it. I'll return, no question about that. I'll need pasta sometimes, but when I do, I'll need customer service like yours, each and every time. Go to Pappardelle's Pasta at Pike Place Market. Try the Lemon Parsley Mafeldine. Both that pasta and Pappardelle's---and Gozi's skills---will be your new tradition. And tell 'em Jeph Sent you.

I've hauled a few things back to Hawaii from my last booty call to Pappardelle's and I all I can say is that I'm a fan for life as long as anything doesn't change: - great service! Despite the insane Pike Place Market crowd the Pappardelle staff is able to man the front lines and help everyone who walks up to their stall in a timely manner! - amazing selection of oils and pasta! Where else can you pair a Lavender Fettucine with a selection of amazing oils? I purchased Hot Hot Hot! oil and Blood Orange Oil but haven't have the chance to pair them with the Spicy Thai or Lemon Pepper Linguine that I've purchased...yet. I'm always going to come back to Pappardelles and since they have an online store, may consider that as well to get my fix.

They sell the OMG vinegar. Well I got the OMG truffle oil last time I was here. Have to say I loved it. They also sell pasta. But I am not a big fan of cooking at home so didn't pick up any. I did sample a bit. I mean good in flavor. Service was pretty good. If you check in on yelp there is a 20% discount on pasta. I showed to the woman and she forgot to ring it in. :-( so sad. But for me to go back and try to reverse it is too troublesome. So I left it.

I was strolling through Pike Place Market and someone from Pappardelle's Pasta offered me a chocolate pasta to try- it was unique! Apparently you can cook the pasta and top it with whipped cream, strawberries, etc. I ended up buying half a pound of the rosemary garlic linguine, which is their most popular, for $6! When I lived in Florence, the best and fresh pasta was always the ones at the market that I can take home and cook myself. So it was nostalgic to be able to buy pasta from a stand. I cooked it al dente, used something similar to a vodka creme sauce, and cooked some shrimp, mushrooms, spinach and cherry tomatoes to go with it. Grated some Parmesan and it was delicious. Half a pound feeds two adults, but I definitely could've bought a whole pound for another meal later on. I loved how colorful and beautiful the display was, hopefully I can try other flavors next time I'm there!

Each pasta is listed with wine pairings and recipes! Vegan pastas too!

Incredible! Perhaps my favorite stop in all of Pike Place Market! Perhaps this is what heaven looks like for pasta lovers such as myself! (Insert all the heart eye emojis here) Over 86 kinds of dried pastas alone and that's not including the fresh-frozen tortellini, gnocchi and ravioli they also offer!!! All shapes, sizes and unique flavorful varieties....lemon pepper, black bean chipotle, Spanish saffron, artichoke basil, porcini, extreme habanero, goan curry, lavender, Venetian calamari, orange Szechuan stir fry, spicy Thai, sweet potato, red onion, Tunisian Harissa and even an orange and dark chocolate for Halloween! It is very difficult to narrow down which to chose so we purchased a bunch of small batches of a few for our first time. If you have kiddos, don't miss a chance to get one of the chocolate varieties!! My girls chose raspberry dark chocolate!! It's suggested to be served as a dessert, hot on top of ice cream!! They are all incredibly flavorful it's almost sacrilegious to add anything on top but a simple oil. They do however sell dozens of sauces and pestos and each pasta is listed with wine pairings and recipes! They even have vegan, gluten free, high protein/low carb, spelt, whole wheat, oat and flax, and ancient grain pastas!!! Not only can you sample the pasta here, but they sell balsamic and olive oils also and have samples of them also! I was blown away by the porcini! So fragrant! The guys here were all so incredibly kind, friendly and efficient! It was a marvelous stop! This made a perfect souvenir to take back home!! Don't forget your 20% with Yelp check in! I was so thrilled to find out they ship also!! 2 day Ground! Pappardelle's Shipping Cost: Dry Pasta:1-4 units - $95-8 units - $109-12 units - $1113-16 units - $1217-20+ units - $13 Fresh-Frozen Products (there is a 4 unit minimum for fresh-frozen products):4-7 units - $218-14 units - $4215-21 units - $6322-28 units - $84

Attention all foodies... you want to stop at this place. If you're like me, and you LOVE pasta, you will find this place to be a little piece of heaven like I did. They had every pasta you can imagine, and ones you never thought of.. TONS of unique flavors like chocolate raspberry, spicy thai, lemon parsley, hatch chile, basil garlic, and more. I went nuts and bought like 6 bags. They sell the pasta by the pound, and will even let you sample the pastas dry. The cards that describe the pasta were super helpful, they provided suggested wine pairings, notified you if they were vegan, and listed suggested recipes. They also give you recipe cards with each pasta you buy. I am so excited about the flavors I purchased and cannot wait to make these!

This is the coolest pasta I have seen! They are so creative! I am so excited when I first saw the chocolate pasta. The people are very nice and enthusiastic. It feels like they enjoy their job a lot. They also sell very good oil for pasta and bread.

Pasta lover here!!!!! Very friendly service at this pasta stand in the market-able to walk up and try pasta and/or oils. Ask them what the best selling pasta is!! It currently is the rosemary garlic linguine-and I can see why-SO TASTY!!!! They're very eager to help you pick a pasta for you and even recommend a recipe for it.

We are having a friend over for dinner this week who we have not seen in over a year, so we wanted to make it extra nice. This is a PERFECT place to stop for a host/hostess/housewarming gift, FYI. There is local honey, wine, meats, tamales, cheese, fresh pasta they make themselves, pantry items and canned goods like St. Jude's tuna. Plus Sweet Alchemy ice cream! I grabbed a jar of pickled asparagus and had to resist buying some really tempting dip they make in-house. As I was checking out, the staff person mentioned that the Tall Grass baked goods in the case were free because they were two days old and would be replaced the next morning by a fresh batch. So nice! I brought home a savory spinach breakfast item with me, which my partner greatly appreciated. Hint: Make sure you have cash on hand for a tip! They can't include tips on card purchases.

The interior of the restaurant is cozy and simplistic, not too pretentious, and definitely allows you to settle in and enjoy without feeling stiff. First of all, our server (I think his name was Alfredo but my deepest apologies if I am mistaken) was super sweet and attentive. The front of house manager also brought us an amouse bouche at the beginning of our meal and was also super kind and clearly takes pride in his work. He even brought us another one because my husband loved it so much! Our server recommended a wine that was perfect for my palate and paired well with the meal we ordered and my husband's cocktail was balanced and delicious even for a non bourbon drinker like me. We ordered the cabbage appetizer, which was like a more exciting and fresher take on a caesar salad, and was quite good. Then, we had the special risotto with lamb sausage. I would have absolutely done unspeakable things for more of that risotto. It was indescribable. We also ordered the halibut and polenta, and the fish was cooked to the perfect temp and well seasoned. Neither of us typically lean toward polenta as a menu option but if all polenta tasted like this that might change! The fat from the guanciale made it especially velvety and that was an excellent pairing with the fish. Overall, we will be back expeditiously, and hope to encounter the same lovely team!!
