On a recent trip to Denver, we decided to do the ski thing for a day at Winter Park; hailing from Tennessee, you would correctly guess that we had no idea really what to do or get and how to prepare (outside of some help from ChatGPT). In our quest to find rental clothing, we came across Mountain Threads and Jared, and I am absolutely certain that it made our ski experience that much better. Jared was responsive, helpful, and kind - both on the phone and in person. He opened the shop early to accommodate our ski time - which was incredible - and $40 for all of the rental wear was a solid price. Easily a 10/10 - you won't go wrong here! read more

I wanted to spend a day skiing when visiting Denver, and the ski park I identified provided equipment but no warm weather gear. They recommended Mountain Threads, and I could not be more satisfied with the service I received. I called the day I arrived in town/the night before I was to ski. I spoke with Jared who was incredibly helpful in identifying the gear I needed. Further, Jared walked me through a timeline for leaving Denver, stopping by the shop to try on gear, and making it to my ski lesson on time. Throughout the process Jared was accommodating and generous with his insights. The price point was incredibly competitive - jacket, pants, goggles and gloves for $40. I've been super impressed with Mountain Threads. Our first reservation was last year for our out-of-town niece. The reservation process was easy, reasonably priced, the staff helped her find perfectly fitting gear, and returning everything was a snap. This year, we booked again in the hopes of outfitting that same niece, but we had an unfortunate last minute change of plans and had to cancel. I reached out to Mountain Threads right away via email, and by the next morning they had already responded to let me know a refund would be issued. We will definitely be booking again next time! This was the best find ever! Our family of 6 was going on our first big ski trip and the thought of adding the cost of all new stuff equipment was incredibly daunting. I found that we could rent coats, pants, gloves and goggles for each of us, picking up on the way to winter park and dropping off in the way to the airport. They do not charge for the travel days!! It was fantastic! I highly recommend trying on the clothes, we needed to sub several items and they were very happy to do that. We lost a pair of goggles, and they invoiced us at a replacement price we felt was very fair, no big markup. Excellent experience! read more

I've driven or ridden by this store over 100 times as I live not far from here. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen a car in the lot. Today I was on a bike ride on an extremely cold day and desperately needed a bathroom. I stopped to check the place out, and when I walked in, the salesperson was on the phone. I gave a quick look around and noticed some gloves and socks that could be useful for winter riding and skiing. The bathroom was right there also, so I stepped in to use it. I was thinking about how I would love to support a small business rather than a Christy's, etc. the next time I need ski or winter bike gear. I was also thinking this would be a great place for our out of state friends to rent skis (rather than the resort which is what we've always done) the next time they came. However, when I walked out of the bathroom, I was "greeted" with "where did you come from?" I started to explain that I was riding my bike and stopped here to use the bathroom. I was about to tell her that I would like to look around at the gloves, but was cut off with a "well our restroom is for paying customers only, so please don't use it again". Well, she won't have to worry about that, because as quickly as it came into my mind that I might buy something there, that thought immediately shifted to the fact that I will never support that business after a first interaction like that. Here I was with a credit card in my jersey pocket and room in my camelbak to put some things and already thinking about who else I could bring in to support this small business. All it took was one negative, rude interaction to change that. To the woman working here: first, I understand when a business downtown doesn't allow people to just wander in and out using the bathroom. However, you are in the middle of nowhere, and I was the only person in your store. Was it that big of a deal? Second, don't be dismissive of people that could be potential customers. I was riding in below freezing weather. I also ski and have plenty of friends who do too. I could have shared a positive experience with them, instead I'm sharing this publicly and will also make sure my friends hear of my experience as well and never step foot in your store as they are riding or driving by. I would think with the lack of customers you seem to have that you'd be thrilled someone was even in your store. You had a moment to be kind and make a first impression; instead you chose rudeness and definitely lost any potential customer you had in me or anyone I know. Think again the next time you want to react that way. Of course maybe you just rely on Texans and Floridians and don't care about Coloradans? read more

The owner was super helpful and friendly! As never-before, out-of-town skiers, her approach to finding us the right rental ski gear was perfect. She had us try on a number of different sizes to make sure everything was the right fit and offered enough movement during our time on the snow. One thing I do want to mention is that the clothes are (thankfully) cleaned very thoroughly from what I can tell, but the cleaning smell lingers. Might not be great for those with a super sensitive nose. If you're not one of these people, I highly recommend this business! read more

Living in Dallas, TX we have little need for heavy winter jackets, ski pants, boots, goggles, etc. Mountain Threads completely hooked us up with everything we needed for a fun day of tubing in Fraser! I booked and paid for everything online a week ahead of time, stopped by the store to try everything on the day of our adventure, and if it didn't fit, they were able to exchange it for a different size. All of the items we rented were in great shape and actually stylish. Returning the items was super easy and convenient at the end of the day, too. I'm SO glad to have found Mountain Threads -- they saved me a ton of money (and space in my luggage)! I would definitely recommend Mountain Threads without hesitation and will use them again on our next family snow adventure. It's worth noting that we went tubing the day after Christmas and they were incredibly busy. There were some walk-in customers that were asking for full gear set-ups and Mountain Threads was unable to service them. Those walk-in customers created quite a stink (claimed all sorts of racial nonsense) and left unfavorable reviews. I fully support Mountain Threads and feel the negative reviews are completely unfounded and unwarranted. It was one of their busiest times of the year and if Mountain Threads could have provided clothing, they would have. PLAN AHEAD people -- especially during popular times -- and don't blame a company or anybody else for your own short sightedness. read more

This place is awesome! My boyfriend and I flew to Denver from Virginia, and due to some flight issues, we arrived in Colorado and he only had basically the clothes on his back. We figured we'd purchase some clothing and gear for him at Dick's Sporting Goods before heading to Mountain Threads. The good news is, we returned almost everything to Dick's! I had found out about Mountain Threads from a quick Google search for clothing/gear rental, and thank goodness that it was mentioned in about 3 of the 5 first results. At first I thought they only rented the package deals of Columbia jacket, snow pants, gloves, and goggles (with not one scratch on them!), but they have so much more! We got there and he was able to rent not only outer gear, but also a really warm fleece liner, and Sorel winter boots. The prices were BEYOND reasonable, and we were glad they only charged us for the days we would actually be using the gear (we picked it all up before noon the day before we actually hit the slopes). We also purchased some thermal layers, Hot Chilly's, which were a few bucks cheaper than the same exact thing we found in Breck. The two women who helped us were so friendly and helped us out immensely. They packed up all the gear in a sweet duffel bag, and explained the extremely simple return process to us. Since this place is right next to the highway, we lost maybe about 4 minutes on our way back to the airport at 3 in the morning to deviate and drop the stuff back off. This was an amazing little shop, and I highly recommend it to anyone who either doesn't have gear of their own, or just doesn't want to lug their own gear around the country/world. They also were able to give us a military discount, which made the whole thing even better. read more

Headed out to Steamboat, I faced an issue being from Atlanta...ski gear. Do I buy hundreds of dollars in gear that I will maybe use a couple times a year, or do I rent? I found Mountain Threads on Yelp and I am very happy I did. The checkout process was painless and I received an email letting me know that the gear was at the hotel waiting for me a couple days before my arrival. When I opened the box, the clothes were in near perfect shape. They use Columbia and it did the job, perfectly. My only complaint was that it was 45 degrees on the mountain! My husband and I went to Colorado on our honeymoon as first time skiers, snowboarders, etc. We had no clue what to rent, but we knew we needed to rent vs. buy,( ski gear is very expensive!!) so we stopped in this place. The service and the friendliness of the staff is phenomenal!! They went above and beyond to help us get fitted with all the gear we would need, and even gave us information on the area and ski resort! A young man helped us and also a woman named Rachel. Rachel in particular, even called a local resort to get us pricing information! You just don't get this type of service everyday. The BEST part about the cost of the gear was, it was cheaper for us to just BUY their gently used items in the back, rather than rent the new gear! Win for us!! First off, I just want to say that my experience here was incredible - probably the best I experienced on my trip to Keystone by far. I had no idea what I was doing or what I needed, and Rachel really went out of her way to make sure I had the best product for my trip. I ended up renting the jacket, pants, googles, gloves, and Sorel boots and they were all in amazing shape. The jacket and pants were Columbia, which is my favorite brand of sportswear and I could tell by their condition that the staff at Mountain Threads go out of their way to keep it all in tip-top shape. We rented our equipment from Christy sports, but realized we had no snowboarding apparel! We definitely didn't want to buy new snowboarding clothes & equipment and lug it back home, so I did some research, found these guys online and decided to give it a try. We had a GREAT experience with Mountain Threads. For $39/day, they lend you Columbia brand jacket & pants, snow gloves, and goggles. Rent instead of buying! This was a great little shop. We reserved online, the owner met us on Sunday morning to try it all on and swap out a few pieces, and we were back on the way to Keystone. It's right on the way between Denver and all the resorts. Great quality Columbia packages - easy, convenient, and pleasant. They also offer drop off at your resort and pick up for returns for an additional fee - but if you are driving it is literally a 3 minute detour off the interstate. They also had Hot Chillys base layers, sunscreen, lip balm and a few other items for sale. read more

We received a call back within minutes from Jessica. She let us know that they were closed on Sunday to spend time with their families on Easter, but that she would gladly meet us at 630AM to rent clothing to us. She did, and it was great. Recently rented some snow clothes for our week in the mountains. This company made the process so easy-reserve online then try on in the store to be sure the sizes are correct. Their location is right off the freeway on the way to the mountains-so convenient! The employee was so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend renting clothes/boots etc. It made such a difference to have good gear for the snowy, cold weather. We were never cold because their gear is well suited to the climate. We stopped in here on our way up to Copper Mountain thinking it was also a board rental shop. They just rent clothing, but the woman working there was so friendly and helpful that we decided to stay and rent clothing from them and get the snowboard somewhere else. However, I was going to June Lake, there was snow in the forecast and I didn't want to freeze while I was there. I found Mountain Threads online and I'm so glad I did. I used their shipping service for snow clothes for my bf and myself; pants, jacket, gloves and goggles. The box of gear was waiting at the real estate office when I arrived to pick up keys. Everything was in the box and ready to go - they even provided the packing tape to seal the box back up for return shipping. The service was great all the way through. My bf called the day after placing the order to change the size of pants that he ordered. Everything went smoothly, with zero glitches along the way. I loved the extra discount for 3+ days of rental. My wife and I live in central Texas and do not own any snow gear/clothes. We found MountainThreads.com through a basic Google search prior to our CO trip. We both chose the Performance Package Deals that the company offers. The package included a complete outfit - jacket, pants, goggles and gloves. We arrived at their Golden location just before 9:00AM to try on our gear since they are on the way to Winter Park (where we were heading for our activities). All of the items that we rented were placed in a convenient duffel bag which made it easy to return everything. The package was perfect for our day of snowmobiling. When we finished with the gear, we took the duffel bag of items back about an hour before their closing time and everything was inventoried with no wait.
