If you've ever been up late binge watching Netflix, you have probably seen the commercials on TV for Mountain Vista Farm. MVF is a place where people who are struggling with drug or alcohol addiction can come to begin a new life in sobriety. Today is the anniversary of my seventh year in sobriety and me and several of my sober brothers did a day trip to MVF to visit a friend on family day. As soon as I stepped onto the property I could feel great vibes. The property is located in beautiful Sonoma County. The staff are warm hearted and nothing but unconditional love can be felt. We were served a great lunch too (spaghetti and vegetables from their own organic garden). I would highly recommend MVF to anyone looking for a place to recover. read more

I've been to mountain vista farms a few times. Every time i got all the counceling i could ask for. Great food. A good class of clients. The doctor here helped me get off an anxiety medication ive been on for years. They are empathetic, caring, and very supportive. I got two extensions since i came here. I would recommend this place to anyone who is serious about there recovery. I love how there is 4 meetings i can still come to after graduation to stay in contact with the facility. read more

I couldn't recommend this place more highly. I enrolled here for 30 days. All the staff are fantastic, from the admin to the medical and counseling staff I have been in several outpatient programs for alcohol treatment and the groups and education here were far superior to anything I have experienced in the past. The food is excellent. The accomodations is fairly basic, but comfortable. The program is very intensive. There's very little time to spend in your room anyway. It is in a rustic setting, so it's very peaceful. I've never slept better which is huge in early sobriety. The group of clients I was here with were friendly, funny, and compassionate. I aim to never have to go back to residential treatment, but if I do, it will definitely be here. read more

There wasn't any recovery while I was there. This place was and still is a joke. The counselors aren't all certified. They don't know how to teach you to recover. The group meetings were supposed to be a time to learn how to rehab and recover but all we did was play games and make art. Everyone chained smoke because there wasn't any recreational things to do. People relapsed so fast that within a month they're out, they're back in because no coping skills were taught. In the handbook, it says that you'll meet your counselors at least once a week (supposed to be twice a week) but most don't ever. I had to advocate for myself but even then they said I was a threat by doing so. Didn't seem like any of the counselors really cared. It was just a paycheck to them. I learned more from listening to the stories of my peers and they helped me realize that this rehab is a failure and therefore you're going to fail. Don't want to return to this facility that's for sure. Don't come here read more

What can I say about Mountain Vista Farm? I just coined out it's the first time I've had 30 days of sobriety since I was 23 years old and I'm now 45. Amazing magical healing, an amazing journey. Lots of education a beautiful, setting holistic, cognitive behavioral therapy, help dealing with situations like ADHD psychiatry, and Love, everything that you could imagine in terms of dealing with this disease of addiction. I recommend it to anyone who is suffering from this sickness and give it 100% if you do it. read more

I have never been able to get sober on my own. Mountain Vista, I will be indebted to for life. I didn't expect it to be nice; however, I felt like I was on a nice vacation at a resort for 30 days. They respect privacy, allow phones, big screen tv, wifi, computer access if you dont have a laptop, and the food is insanely good. I would stay here if I could. I just toured Mountain Vista Farm with Matt and I was really inspired by the beautiful property MVF is situated on. While touring I got to smell the food and if it tastes 1/2 as good as it smells then MVF clients are lucky! I heard they locally source their food too! While touring we talked about family and friend involvement because I know a program is an isolated opportunity for healing but once people leave treatment their environment is crucial. They offer family days on Sunday where families have Alanon meetings and family therapy sessions. If I had a family member who needed treatment I would not think twice about recommending MVF. read more

I had a really great experience one of which could be suggested saved my life.. You get out of YOUR recovery what you put into it. Rehab is not a magic pill; rather it is a reboot into normal life. The real recovery starts when you cross the bridge when you leave. MVF provides you the tools necessary to start anew. With recovery rarely have we seen a person fail that has throughly followed our path.. Follow what they gave you for your 30 day journey, follow the TRP, stay connected, join the misfits, do 90 in 90, you cannot pick and choose what you do--follow the proven plan. The food is awesome, I ran the hill everyday and the staff when I was there was what I needed. Mountain Vista Farms gave my son a foundation to surmount the alcoholism that was on track to cost him his marriage, his home and his family--a mother's nightmare. At the urging of his AA Sponsor, he agreed to go MVF at the tail-end of a binge-just the latest in a series of progressively worse binges, and MVF admitted him on 24-hours-notice. The counselors and staff at MVF provided a secure and understanding environment that dealt head-on with the hard facts of his disease. They didn't sugar coat the acknowledgments and hard work he had to do to never drink again; but at the same time, they offered him tools to tackle the social and psychological factors that exacerbate his disease. Staff worked with him to set up an excellent post-discharge out-patient support program. MVF safeguarded my son's privacy, and required his specific written authorization to share any information--including even whether he was in their program. No program can help a person who has not made a true commitment to a major life change. For my son, MVF offered a life-line that he was able to grasp. He has nothing but praise for the staff and the program, and he made friendships there that will endure. MVF has given me back my son, and I will be forever grateful. read more

I love leaving positive reviews, and this place deserves it. Life saving place. Counselors met with me whenever I needed it. Group sessions taught CBT techniques and coping skills. The environment is relaxing set in the mountains of Sonoma valley. Lots of outdoor time if you want it. The rooms aren't the Hilton, but they are perfect for their purpose. The aftercare support I've received thus far has been fantastic. Do not go to this treatment center! Do your research , and don't be fooled. Horrible and rude staff, disgusting dirty run down center. Please do not send your loved ones to this place, the lies begin at check in and never stop. Nothing is cleaned or sanitized, the staff talk horrible about other staff members and about clients. This place is so rundown and dirty I was in shock on my first "family visit". This place is completely unsafe, poorly managed and a complete rip off. They care about one thing only, and that's money! My worst rehabilitation experience. With a discharge 8 days early, with no exit plan, medication prescriptions that had ran out, and no other options as far as other facilities or treatment programs. One counselor praised me for my coloring and busy work that later became my reason for early dismissal. Coloring during groups... It really goes to show how one counselor who doesn't like younger, pretty, and successful woman can kill. read more

Would not recommend sending anyone here. For the first three weeks my partner spoke to me of recovery and was looking forward to the future being sober then all of a sudden it changed. When speaking with his counselor about his recovery she was extremely rude every time I spoke with her. Her worst comments to me when I called, I was concerned about the change in his recovery attitude, she said he can't imagine life without a beer. "You can't help a drunk that doesn't want to be helped". She asked me how long we'd been together then said you need to speak to a counselor and get on with your life. Shortly before he was to come home I asked her should I get rid of the alcohol in our house. Long story short, she said no if he wanted to get some he could go to the store he was a big boy, that's what he told her and she said he was right. Thousands of dollars spent to help him get sober and he comes home worse than he went in. He told me all the things his counselor said about me and our relationship, which is extremely inappropriate since we'd never met except over the phone. There are some wonderful people at Mountain Vista Farms, helpful, nice, caring. His counselor wasn't one. She was detrimental to his recovery and should lose her license as well as her job. read more

After some personal struggles, my husband went here for rehabilitation. He didn't go willingly at first but the end result has been life changing for us. The unfortunate part was this was during Covid time so I couldn't go and do the family visits on Sundays like they usually have but as part of the program we did have family therapy every Sunday instead. I heard from my husband how the counselors and staff were great and all the daily meetings, groups and activities they had them do to keep them busy and learn how to develop healthier coping skills and habits. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about my husbands ability to maintain his sobriety once he was out but I can say I am so proud of him and he is coming up on two years sober. This program works but you have to be willing to put the time and effort in and really want to make a change, not just lip service and bullsh$t. The friends he made in the program have remained a large part of our lives and I am so thankful everyday for Art and for the program saving my husband's life. read more

It's not the Hilton, but they saved my life! I'm celebrating 7 years of sobriety this month and it started at the Farm. Seven years without a drink is a miracle for this alcoholic. The food was amazing. The grounds were gorgeous. The housing was less than I expected. I'd compare it to an old log cabin. But, I wasn't there for anything other than to stop drinking. They offered me an excellent education on the disease of alcoholism. They gave me the foundation to build the peaceful life I have today. The few things I didn't like were the medical care, the housing and a couple of staff members. But, If I had to do go to rehab again, I'd go to Mountain Vista Farm. read more

This place is horrible. I went there last month and it was terrible. The chef Brian is rude and disrespectful. Collette acts so happy and it's so fake and she makes you feel bad if you don't have rainbows shooting out of your ass. She doesn't have the nerve to talk to you directly she instead goes to the higher ups to complain about clients. She made me feel inferior. Nancy O is a straight up rude person. She sits on her high horse and barks at patients and assume everything she hears is correct. Mary the counselor told me I was a lost cause and made me cry. She has no business in this profession. I had a family member go here for alcohol rehab a few months ago. She is a highly functional manipulative alcoholic who talked herself out of program a week early. I met with counselors early on warned them of her tactics however they made me feel like i was the bad guy. Within two weeks she was drinking partying again. I know because of laws they can not discuss issues but after she left started partying I made sure her counselor who assured me she would be ok knew she was back to her old tricks. Side note when i would visit her on weekends i thought it was weird that it was okay to bring her coffee and even clothes without anyone checking through it. I also didnt like she had access to internet facebook etc within days of being there. She was able to keep in contact with her partying friends. read more

After 15 years of addiction my son FINALLY agrees to rehab. Unfortunately, it was for a very high tolerance/dosage of Xanax; a drug we painfully learned Mountain Vista Farms knows Nothing about. On intake, they said they'd immediately give him medicine to start the taper right after intake. Intake took 1 hour. He was told he'd get medical support by a MVF on-site Doctor. (There is NO on-site Dr.) He was NEVER given his medicine. Instead, they dropped him off at the emergency department to, "...make sure he was healthy and ready for recovery." He literally went 7 hours without medicine. He went into severe withdrawals while waiting in the hospital emergency waiting room. He lost speech and capacity to walk. NOONE from MVF escorted, or stayed, with him. He was literally dropped off while withdrawaling. We put $36,000 down to be part of a dirty, musty jail/farm house 6 x 10 room with a coked out roommate who immediately asked if my son knew where to get drugs. We couldn't get out of that money mill fast enough! read more

I had a month long experience at MVF. I came in sober and left sober. I started an exercise class and it was well attended but the staff did not alllow our class to have any room or outside space. So the class disbanded. I was lucky enough to have a semi-decent room in what is a rather unkept old building. There were rooms n which I never would have slept. I think the AA program is completly outdated and this is the program that is followed at MVF. When I was there an older gentleman died in the "detox room" because of staff neglect. I myself suffered from an allergy attack and was given no medical help nor support. Another man had a bad cut and was unable to get proper medical help until he was in an extremly serious health situation. I agree with Edward B.- read his yelp. read more

This place is a joke. If you are sending a loved one there to get clean please send them anywhere else. The staff there is a complete joke seems like no one there seems to care about your sobriety ( except Ron). I went in medically detoxed saw the doctor there and told him I don't need any prescription but they still put me on 8mg of suboxin and Valium even though I said no they said I need to take something or I need to find somewhere else. (told me only will be in the Valium for 3days was on it for 2.5 weeks) There counselors are pathetic they say you'll meet with them two times a week. Reality maybe meet with them two times the whole 30 days you're there. Nancy O head of whatever is the worst. She confronts me about leaving 1 day early say shame you won't "coin out". She then starts to fight with me screaming at the top of her lungs for 30min back and forth. Only thing for recovery they do is give you a Na, Aa book. read more

I was at MVF almost five years ago. I'm still sober. Was the place free of flaws? Is any place? I did feel much of the AA material they used (films produced at Hazelton that seemed to have been made in the 1970s, etc) was a bit dated, and I wish they hadn't been 100% AA-based (they are), but once I decided to make the best of it and keep an open mind, I did in fact learn a lot of coping methods and made some friendships I still have, and in the experience of being surrounded by other people in the same boat as myself, I was forced to realize that yes, I had an addiction. Addicts and alcoholics are amazingly predictable in our behaviors. I think 5 years' sobriety is a pretty good testament to the program working well enough: but nothing will work for you if you don't want it to. Medical care: meh. I saw the physician exactly one time. MVF is not the place to go if you need a serious medical detox. They are not set up for that. Or, at least they weren't when I was there. If you have a bad physical addiction, you need to detox in a hospital setting first, or select a rehab that is part of a hospital. If you have other serious health issues, I would not choose MVF. I would choose a rehab that is part of a hospital. Because if you have a seizure or whatnot at MVF, they will call an ambulance and you will be transported to a hospital anyway, and you'll wind up (or your insurance will wind up) having to pay for all that separately. They are simply not set up to handle medical emergencies. But if you aren't severely addicted and don't require a hospital detox (or you're finished one), then MVF is ok. They monitor your heart rate and blood pressure and dispense medications if you're on them. Presumably their physician may prescribe additional meds if he deems it necessary; I did not, so I can't really address that. There is a nurse on the premises at all times. They can give you first aid if needed until an ambulance gets there. Everybody on staff (from handy man to counselors) is in recovery him- or herself, so you won't be treated like a pathetic piece of poo with no willpower. In speaking with other clients there who had been at other rehabs in CA, they said MVF was one of the better ones. So if you're looking for a country club, MVF isn't for you. Spring for the $40K and go to a fancy schmancy place. This place is more like a rustic summer camp for adults. The exercise equipment is clearly all secondhand or donated. Try jogging the route around the field! Or do the hill climb path several times to get in your cardio. The meals were okay, not gourmet but edible and sometimes rather tasty. Movie nights were always fun. My counselor was competent and caring. In the balance, I think I got my $9K worth, especially since I consider my sobriety to be priceless. read more

My father recently stayed at Mountain Vista Farm for the 28 day program. Not only did he have a good experience but I had a great experience every time I went to visit him there. The staff was helpful and his counselor was amazing and made an uncomfortable and emotional experience easier for me, my sister and my father. I would recommend this facility to anyone who needs help with alcohol or drug addiction. It's in a beautiful location and everyone there was very caring and compassionate, yet firm. I hope my father never has to return to a 28 day detox live in facility, but if he did, I wouldn't take him anywhere else. read more

I'm a former client of "The Farm", and I would recommend this treatment facility to anyone who is suffering from Drug and/or Alcohol dependency. I came to MVF addicted to alcohol, crack, speed, cocaine and pot. After a period of detox I began a life-changing journey that continues to this day. I found the counselors and other staff to be extremely kind, caring, educated and supportive. Their patience with me and other disruptive & uncooperative clients was extraordinary. In the end, I believe these people saved my life! Mt Vista Farm incorporates the entire family in their treatment process. My family participated in the lectures and counseling sessions, and consequently were able to support me (in a healthy way) after I left the facility. Lastly, MVF is located in a beautiful, quiet valley away from the madness of city-life, where I was able to find my truth, abandon many of my fears and start a journey of recovery from a seemingly hopeless state of despair and desperation. I stayed at MVF late in 2016. I found the staff to be experienced, understanding and flexible yet strong in their commitment to the clients and adherence to the program. The setting was a bit rustic, especially when running from room to room in the rain. The food was good - wish it could have been a bit lighter at times. And to repeat the staff was great. read more

MICHAEL on JULY 6, 2018 7:12 AM I paid to have my daughter use this rehab and in the beginning it was agreed upon that I would be privy to all that was going on with her recovery. Through out the process i would call and sometimes get information and many times I was told they could not release any information and I would have to tell them that I was allowed to get it and I still would get rejected and then I would to make many calls to finally get briefed on what was going on with her. I was shocked when visiting the place. if anyone wanted to bring alcohol or drugs into this place it would have been a cake walk to do. My daughters access to the outside was not limited and she could have called anyone she chose and had them come visit her and get whatever she needed. When she was released they didn't even know who picked he up or even took the time to find out. There were some conflicts between my daughter and I at the end on account that she was not telling the whole story to them. I would relay that to the staff. They seemed like that it didn't matter or wasn't important. At one time towards the end of her treatment I confronted a counselor who seemed to think she knew everything and asked her many questions only to get hung up on by her. I knew right then that the outcome was not going to be pretty. My daughter actually told me that it was ok for her to get released early according to the staff who said she was ok to go. I thought to myself "are you kidding me, leave early" what it really told me they needed her bed for another sucker. Needless to say that since my daughter was released by whoever picked her up she did not learn a thing there, she immediately went right back to her drug life and has even went further into her addiction which has included no contact with family. I really got what I paid for. My $15,000 was a waste of money on a facility that is outdated and seems to just be in it for the money. Mountain Vista Farms was the cheapest and now I know why. My suggestion is before anyone uses this place is that you go there to visit on a Sunday and check it out and really see what I mean. Its a joke my friends. There is no sign in or at least I never signed in at anytime. PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and pay the extra to get a quality place. This place is about moving product and that product is your loved one getting in and out as fast as possible, there is ZERO follow up by Mountain Vista Farm, I have yet to be contacted by them to see how my daughter is doing on her recovery, DON"T be sorry like I am read more

My son entered the Mountain Vista Farm program two months ago after being on the street for the past two years and having a serious drinking problem for the past 15 years. MVF promised an assessment after thirty days to determine the need for additional time in the facility (which I was told would be possible). After completing the thirty day program MVF released my son with no notification to me and there was no plan of where he was going. When questioning how a thirty day program could benefit someone who has had an abuse problem for years I was simply told that they provide the tools to maintain sobriety. For a fee of $15000 I expected more and asked for a meeting to discuss a possible partial, mutually agreed upon refund. I was condescendingly told to "just take care of myself. My phone calls have been ignored and I filed a complaint with the BBB and MVF has not and will not respond. read more
