**November 2025: Saturday Night** My mom and I were looking for a spot to enjoy dinner that had parking. We drove around downtown Bozeman for a good 30 minutes, and didn't have any luck in securing parking. I found Mountain Walking Brewery and thought I'd take a chance and prayed that there would be a lot or that I would be super lucky with street parking. We were in luck and there was one very small spot near the front of the restaurant - hallelujah! The restaurant was poppin' - almost every table was taken, but we were offered bar seating and we gladly accepted. After purusing through the menu I decided that we should try a variety of items including a side of Brussels sprouts, Bowl of Bison Chili, and a Fig and Arugula Pizza. Service was quick and we got all our items in a pretty timely manner. The pizza had a really great crust the dough had a nice bounce to it. I think for me they were a tad overly generous with the balsamic vinegar glaze which made the pizza quite salty. I would definitely order a pizza again but perhaps the Margherita or the Carnivore. The bison chili was a good standard bowl and the brussel sprouts while crispy was also very salty - I think it was definitely over dressed, but maybe since the majority of patrons were drinkin the salty foods would pair well. Seems like a fun place to hang out, but for me I'd probably pick anything that doesn't have glaze or soy sauce. read more

Early dinner on Saturday. You would expect the beer to be good and of course it was. The server really understood the menu and drink options. I gave suggestions of the beers and he made outstanding choices. I had the cauliflower wings with sweet chili sauce. Perfect fry on the cauliflower and the sweet chili had a great sweet and spicy balance. The bison chili was pretty good. The flavor and body was enhanced when you added the cornbread to it. Fun place to come with friends. We tried a couple of the beers, the sour, and the seasonal seltzer- all were good. The Big Sky Burger was a fairly big portion and good burger. First time here. Walked in was seated right in back of the host. The host came back with two glasses of warm (no ice) water. We proceeded to sit there for at least 10 minutes without any acknowledgment from waitress. We just wanted to at least get our beer order put in and we couldn't even do that! In my last few visits to MT, I've consistently enjoyed Mountains Walking beer when I've tried it, so it was cool to get to visit the taproom for lunch. As usual, the beer I had was great (a sour). I wasn't really in the mood for fries, so I went with the brisket special with polenta. Not cheap, but a TON of food. I was fat and happy for my flight home. I have a strange feeling that many of these five star ratings are just Californians used to the worst service ever. The entire parking lot was full of their license plates. Not sure why breweries decide to do this thing where they seat more people than they can handle because it negatively affects the experience of the customers, at the very least mine. My server took a while to come over to us first, perhaps 5-10 minutes and then proceeded to confuse me into ordering a Caesar salad as a full entree when I asked for an Italian sub... I don't understand this. It was clear if she was trying to suggest a salad to me to give me a small or side type of thing. Then she forgets my Italian sub I watched her write on her little post-it. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business, who writes orders on post-it notes? When the pretzel came, no napkins were provided either. It took awhile to get that under control. Not even plates to share it. The server was quite inept and failed to come over to us multiple times even with empty glasses clearly visible. She looked over maybe 5-10 times and came over 2-3. It almost felt disrespectful and rude. It took us quite a long time to even get a bill to leave. When given the bill, she said she'd bring the toast machine over then proceeded to put it down somewhere and forget about us again even glancing at the check on the table and still not coming over to cash us out. The ambiance was alright I guess but nothing special. I'd recommend skipping this place and trying somewhere that values your time and money. The tip was very low. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a brewery/restaurant and it's not an exaggeration. Just dazed workers with no care in the world. Zero. I'm not a bad reviewer. I love local flavor and understand all that it takes for an experience. This is worthy of a buyer beware. Hoods over friers don't work, smells like fish fryer throughout restaurant. My wife puked in her mouth because of the flavor you breathe here. Ordered a Mule, Mojito, and a Margarita. Staff is friendly and helpful, great with suggestions and helpful when pinning food choices. Wings were crispy and sauces were incredible. Roasted Brussels sprouts were amazing! Mountains Walking theme is Japanese-inspired beers. Tried a handful and found a couple I liked. They also have a big seltzer selection, which isn't really my thing, but might be great if that's what you're into. The vibe was chill but not memorable or the friendliest. YUM! Great Beers, Great Food! Wish we had more time to go back again and explore more of the beer and food menu. We stopped in for a late-ish lunch on a Monday. It was about 1:30pm and there were still folks sitting around enjoying lunch and beers. We were immediately greeted and sat upon entering. Lots of great options. We ordered the chicken thigh sandwich that was tossed in the sweet chili sauce, an order of 6 wings and an order 6 "wings". The fried broccolini "wings" were definitely a yummy surprise. We weren't sure how these would taste, but they were YUMMY! And I like to think they are healthy too ... because Broccolini, right? My chicken sandwich was probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. There are so many different components that I loved... the sauce was sticky sweet spicy, the chicken was uber tender, the candied bacon was amazing, the arugula added a green freshness to the sandwich so it wasn't so heavy. I stopped by while in town. I didn't do much research ahead of time but it didn't matter because the beer was great. Opaque Thoughts - Beyond Dank was my favorite.
