I wanted to like this place but I got the pulled pork platter and on the plus side service was fine and the fries were ok, but the mac & cheese side was pretty small and the pulled pork was drowning in so much sweet barbeque sauce (tasted like Sweet Baby Ray's) that it was kinda gross and you couldn't taste the meat at all. read more

Coming back from Martinsburg, WV, the Jr and I stopped in for lunch. We were not disappointed. So far, this was the best Pit Beef BBQ we have had in Maryland. Smothered in BBQ sauce (figured they were hiding the dryness. Nope! The meat was juicy and well flavored) and a bag of homemade made chips, we enjoyed every bite. The food at this place is outstanding, but get ready to wait a while as deli orders and plant nursery purchases are done at the same window. We enjoyed running across the street to grab some fresh tomatoes while waiting, so it kind of worked out. They have four large picnic tables for outdoor seating and the seating area is dog friendly. read more

Awful customer service. This is not a customer orientated establishment. I am not sure how an establishment can sell average bbq and mulch in the same place. The ordering area is very cramped and uncomfortable, very unwelcoming. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This was such a great find! We stopped by after the South Mountain State Battlefield Park. They have great options! Two of us got their Pit BBQ sandwich meal. One was with beef and the other with pulled pork. Which are served with fries and a homemade side, we both chose coleslaw which was the best we've ever had. One of us got a Turkey sub with lots of options for toppings, meat was nicely shaved but cheese was a little thick for our liking. We also got a hamburger with side of fries, the burger wasn't great but the fries were delicious! To finish it all off we got a peach shake to share which was perfect, the peach flavor was great. We also took home a bag of homemade chips for our drive back to Ohio, which are perfectly seasoned and super thin! If you are thinking about stopping on your drive we definitely suggest it! There's even a cute farmers market across the way. Even though this stop is deceiving with the garden store around it, it has some really delicious foods. It was a bit pricey for 4 people but very delicious! $10 minimum for credit card use! read more

This is somewhat more hole in the wall than even I'm used to. Tiny little shack. Small menu. This is simple, basic food. Prices are in line with that. They also have ice cream and snowballs. Plus local eggs, veggies, candies and such. Wanna grab something to pack for a picnic, this is it. We grab sandwiches before heading to Washington Monument St. Park. I bet the BBQ is good. They had sugar cured ham sandwiches. Kinda wish I'd tried that. A whole sub is a sizeable sandwich, btw. read more

This is one of those trust my gut places. I'm in the community so I have given myself a few opportunities to have a nice time. But for me it's personal. I felt mistreated and lied to. We were visiting my son in Boonsboro and found this food stop. I did a stop in and pick up. The service was friendly and fast. I got the bbq sandwich with horseradish. Being from Texas it was a pleasant change from what I was use to. Lightly smoked, sweet sauce and a bite with the horseradish. It was very good. We also had the pork with slaw, chicken salad and a turkey. All of it was good. Topped off with some in-house homemade bbq chips and this lunch was a hit. read more

If I could leave a 0, I would. I came to Mountainside Deli today at 11:35am and now at 12:25pm am still waiting for my food. There was only 1 person in front of me but the young girl working made other customers' orders before mine. They were out of turkey and shredded cheese and don't have dill pickles. What kind of sandwich shop is this!? After waiting for 30 minutes, the girl told us they don't have any cauliflower for our fried cauliflower order. Shouldn't she have known this 5 minutes into making our food. This place has the worst service I have ever experienced! 45 minutes and counting to make 3 subs, cheese bites and fries! read more
