I immediately wished I had asked them to heat it up for me, but oh well were sitting already and they were busy! All my fears melted away when I tasted those delicious carbs! First impression the jalapeño cheddar reminded me of cheese straws, like great cheesy flavor, but the consistency was so good! Crispy edges but soft inside! But then, it gets better... one bite of that strawberry butter one, yep it's delicious moved right up the list, best biscuit I've ever had! The butter seems ridiculous like so much but it's so good, I swear seems like it's whipped with cream cheese or something cause what!? I found myself wishful for more strawberry preserves, but just so good, even took half home and ate it the next day, guess what still delicious!

The raisin croissant was great - it was flaky, light, there was a nice simple syrup that created almost a candied undercarriage - this could have also been the sugar that cooked out of the raisins when baking. The croissant didn't exactly have anything particularly standout about it, it just tasted like it was very well executed. Oddly didn't get much of a buttery flavor from this croissant, I also feel like a very small amount of spices could have gone a long way to help pull in some warm undertones for the flavor. If I get back here on another trip, I'll be sure to arrive earlier to get some different options.

The friendly staff could not be nicer; zero attitude whatsoever even after winning a prestigious James Beard award. Zero seating, too, unfortunately, other than a few benches outside. -- Chocolate Croissant: A sturdy brown contraption with a crusty exterior and a bready interior. Mine was still warm, with a good crackly bite and hints of wood flavor from the oven. Underneath were strong accents of chocolate. Very good and very different. -- Almond Croissant: A swirl shape along the lines of pain au raisins, but with almonds and almond filling. That filling was nicely understated and natural, complementing while deferring to the still-warm dough. Another example of very good and very different. This place strikes me more as a bread bakery that also bakes pastries than a pastry shop that also bakes bread-- not that there's anything wrong with that. And it's a place that's willing to sacrifice breadth of offerings (at least at any one time) for quality of offerings, and there's nothing wrong with that either. Despite the line of everyone getting their Belleville fix they had everything in stock and about 9 different pastry options. Seeing so much positive talk about their croissants we needed a classic version of that, a Pain au Chocolat, Morning Bun, and lastly a Palmier (they describe it as a caramelized puff pastry cookie). Drink wise my wife got an iced lavender latte and I got an iced chai latte. Drinks were good and all the pastries were phenomenal. My wife has found a new favorite pastry with the palmier. Sad to have this great bakery shutting its doors but I will be seeking out their baked goods at the other location!

The cardamom bun was delicious - it was light, slightly sweet, the cardamom flavor was not overpowering and the brioche was perfectly moist. If you enjoy that flavor profile, don't hesitate to grab one of these! Coffee was also great - simply a drip coffee but they are using a medium-dark roast from tandem coffee roasters that will be a general crowd pleaser. Just be aware they don't have all of the pastry options every day, I went looking for a kouign amann but the cardamom bun I had didn't disappoint, so next time I'm here I'll have to catch 'em.

Coming from out of state, I didn't really have any way to get the bagel open. They told me to use their plastic knives which is what I tried to do but due to the elasticity of their bagels it made my car a mess. Cream cheese is sold separately in a glass container which is kind of annoying. If you are ok with them just throwing the bagel in a bag, and if you live nearby and are able to fix it up, great! But if not, it's kinda just a mess and not worth it.

Driving by the store after the Beach to Beacon, we decided to pop in for our post-run coffee. It's a cute place with lots of seating and friendly employees! The coffee was very good! (cappucinos). Along with it, we chose the lime and coconut Kouign-amann. Really great - lime on the inside. Highly recommend!
