The service overall is a little expensive, but hey they did exactly what I needed within 48 hours of my first phone call. The company should have a little more Covid training. One guy had his mask covering his mouth but not nose. The other had a visibly dirty mask from dirty hands touching the outside of it. I was surprised that they did not wear gloves, by default junk/trash tends to be dirty. I would use this service again.

1-Star Review - College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving (Frederick, MD)…read more I hired College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving (Frederick, MD) for a move on July 7 based on an in-person estimate for a four-hour job that included a trip to a nearby storage unit a few miles away. I had an international flight the following day and was on a tight schedule. The move was not completed as agreed. The quoted storage trip was never made, and even the apartment move itself was left unfinished. Despite three movers being present TO MOVE TWO SMALL ROOMS, MOST OF WHICH HAD ALREADY BEEN PACKED AND MOVED, work was repeatedly interrupted while the crew spent extended periods on the phone with their office. Required packing materials discussed in advance, including lamp boxes and picture boxes, were not brought. My sofa was not properly covered, and the cushions were left exposed and unprotected. Finally, they dumped everything into my storage and broke multiple valuable items during the move. During the move, a 19th-century hand-carved French armoire was damaged. Carved elements were broken, and portions are missing. The piece was transported in its damaged condition. Three antique European handmade lamps were also damaged; shades were crushed, harps detached, and bulb fixtures bent. A valuable picture frame was also broken. A DESK LAMP WAS LEFT ON THE FLOOR, BROKEN. OTHER ITEMS WERE LEFT BEHIND. WITH A HUGE MESS, HOLES IN THE WALLS, ETC. After the move, a company representative named Milla informed me that payment would not be required because the move was not completed. Despite that representation, I was later contacted regarding payment by a man who did not identify himself by name. I have attempted to file a formal damage claim, but have not received returned calls regarding the claim process. I have now submitted a formal written demand and am pursuing a professional appraisal and appropriate remedies. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location. They were so unprofessional and slippery, despite a contract, that I would avoid this moving company at all costs. I spoke with four or five people during the move, and none had the information from the estimator who wasted an hour of my time. The teamshowed up 30 minutes late and lied about where they were. To top it off, Milla told me I did not owe anything a shey did not complete the move and a week later some guy -his role unclear - called to say I owed them the full quote, even though the cost of completing the move and the loss of things left behind and destroyed by careless handling caused in excess of 6-7000 in damages at minimum. AND THEY CAUSED A LOT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE AT THE APARTMENT. MILLA PROMISED TO FILE A DAMAGE CLAIM WITH THIE INSURER BUT NO ONE HAS RETURNED MY CALLS.

We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

When I say there was a lot of cat fur....there was enough under all the furniture to make another couple of cats. ASAP cleaned the home spotless. We got our full deposit back from the landlord. Both moves were transfers within my apartment building. In response to my request to get the same team if possible, the new three-person team had the same foreman as the previous three-person team. They once again did an excellent job - called in advance, arrived early, and worked very quickly and efficiently. The foreman planned well which items should be moved between the two apartments in each trip to minimize the number of trips and the work time. The team members were both friendly and professional. As with my previous move, the cost of the job came in well under the estimate due to the team's speedy work. My two experiences with NewRay have been a refreshing contrast to my experiences with other movers over the years. I plan to continue to use them for any future moves.

I could get into the long story of our experiences moving cross country, but I'd rather tell you how great it was dealing with Movers On Duty. They showed up to pack on time, they were courteous, respectful and nice. David and his team did a wonderful job. We ran into problems getting our house settled in the time we were supposed to, Luis worked with us every step of the way; even though I had to change the moving location back and forth several times. I will tell you, that this is the advantage of working with a smaller company as opposed to the big national companies, they would have probably told us "too bad." Though we had a couple of tiny miscommunications along the way, Movers on Duty should ABSOLUTELY be your choice for any kind of move. Montana and his team out here in Kansas got the job done quickly and efficiently. This company gave us a WAY more affordable option than the big carriers and were much more understanding about issues that crop up along the way of a very stressful time. So, please, do yourself a favor, and if you have to move anywhere in the country, give Movers on Duty a call. You won't regret it, I know we didn't. If I could give them ten stars, I would. This company is THE BEST! I called super last minute and around 11pm. Not only was I able to schedule my move, but they answered the phone! I spoke with Fabian who discussed the cost of the move and all of the things included in the cost. After our call I received an email to confirm my move. I had to reschedule for a few days later but nonetheless, I sent them a message and they obliged my request. The movers Delmar, Rafael, and Luis called to let me know they were on their way and when they showed up on time, they were ready to work. Delmar assured me that my requests were not a problem and that they could do this all themselves. Luis packed my kitchen and Rafael moved my furniture quickly and safely. They arrived to my new house before I got there and they waited patiently. They moved expeditiously up the four flights of stairs never once complaining. They even remembered from which room they brought each box and put it in the correct room in my new house. I was beyond impressed! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company and will use them anytime I have to move. I am so glad that I found them. Not bad for a new company guys! Jason contacted me yesterday and asked whether or not I would post a review on this website regarding my recent experience with his company for my move I set up with him and this is my version: Set up with jason on 01/27/10 for a pick up in Baltimore Md on 02/05 then recieved a 2 day out call from the driver telling me he would arrive in the morning between 8am and noon on the 5th which he did show up at 11am. Proceeded to load my items on the truck and since I had already packed every box it took him and his helper about 3 hours to load, told me he would most likely be in Tampa on 02/06 or 02/07 to deliver and he showed up on the 7th in the morning at 10:30am. Price did not change whatsoever and the delivery was quick and the driver was professional. My contact with Jason was great, pick-up and delivery was also great so, everything went as well as I would have hoped for with a long distance move so I would definetely use this company again if I ever move in the future. Moving from state to state can be very stressful and frustrating. Searching for the right movers, the people, the right price with an on time quality delivery is close to impossible of finding it. We could not express on how satisfied and happy we are, with so much professionalism from "MOVERS ON DUTY" Let me tell you, starting from the owner Luis, down to his team Boston & Luis Vasquez are a big help. This was my second time moving and I was dealing with closing issues with my new house, the company I was scheduled with offered me a flat rate but didn't have availability on the day I needed to move. After losing a deposit with that company, Jose from Movers On Duty provided me with a full packaging hourly rate and provided boxes to me before the day of my move. I was hesitant at first because it sounded too good to be true, but when the movers arrived, I was impressed. They moved everything out of my house faster than the first time I moved. They fully packed everything and made my house look like it was ready for sale. All of my stuff was full unpacked in my new house in a quick time and they even gave me a discount to offset, the loss of my deposit. These guys were fantastic, better than the first time I moved, and I didn't lift a finger. I have recommended them to family, neighbors and church friends. I haven't gotten a complaint, these guys are the best hands down. I will be using them again for my next move!!! read more

I used Movers on Duty for my recent move from Maryland to Virginia. I was extremely happy with the service they provided. They dropped off boxes to my house about a week before our move so my husband and I had time to pack. They also brought tape and bubble wrap which I hadn't requested so that was a bonus! The crew was very professional and personable. They were pleasant to interact with and they worked quickly and efficiently. Even when I changed my mind about where to put a few very heavy items, they moved them from one room to another without hesitation. And it was a very hot and humid day. I was sweating like crazy even though I wasn't doing any work! Gabriel was great to work with and the crew showed up on time and ready to work. Gabriel even added a fourth person on the spot when we realized we had a lot more stuff than we initially thought. This really helped the move go as quickly as possible! When my movers cancelled on me the day I was supposed to move, I called Movers On Duty. They graciously accepted my job which was a five bed room house pack and move from Maryland to Michigan the very next day!! I had a team lead by Devon who effectively packed a truck that could have easily been too small for the novice packer. I'm happy to say he was as effective unpacker as he was driver, lead unloaded and furniture assembler. I received my belongings on Friday of the same week. The packers came early on Tuesday and Devon communicated his arrival on Friday. There were several packers but Chanel(Michigan), Vanessa(Maand Tae(Michigan), Paul(Maryland) and Patrick(Michigan) stood out. I'm sure I left some good ones out. Movers on Duty did not charge me until after they packed my entire house and the I paid the balance after everything was unpacked and assembled. I would like to not only thank all the movers and coordinators for all of their efforts in making our move from Kearneysville WV to Charleston SC, but also to give them the highest rating there is. We were working on our move with one of the major moving companies. We were 5 days from our scheduled move date, when we were notified that they couldn't meet the move date. In a panic, I called Mover's ON DUTY, I told them my situation on our move date which was now 4 days away. They assured me that they would be there and take care of us. They did exactly that, they were there and handled the move so well. Friendly, hard working and delicate with all of our belongings. When they delivered our goods in South Carolina, we had the same proffesional experience down there when unpacking. If I could I would give them 10 stars. I had the pleasure of working with MOD for my move yesterday. Imagine the conditions: A townhouse full (and I MEAN FULL) of stuff being divided between the moving truck, a curb alert in the front yard, and a dumpster in front of the house. Sunday of July 4th weekend. Incredibly hot and humid. And carrying my things to a 3rd-floor walk-up where the AC wasn't working. And in a pandemic. A team of three guys worked for 6 hours in the heat, wearing masks, and maintained great attitudes and excellent customer service throughout the day. They worked SO hard, kept me informed of their arrival time, obviously knew what they were doing, and were flexible when I had issues getting into the new apartment at first. Leading up to the big day, I coordinated with Fabian, who is kind, knowledgeable, patient, flexible, and responsive. I cannot recommend Movers on Duty highly enough. 'Movers on Duty' is just the best around!! Moving has always been a hustle for me. For the last 9 years, I moved 5 times, all within the DMV. My last move was a couple of weeks ago from Northern Virginia to Rockville. For the first time in many years, I was pleased with the services of a moving company. I had a great first impression when I spoke to the customer service agent. He was so good at explaining their processes, and also answered clearly at all my questions. The moving crew was so professional, got there on time and didn't waste no time as far as loading and unloading the truck. For the first time I felt like I had my money worth in a moving job. I was so happy about the service that I tipped extra. One other thing about this company is that you are not required to have a minimum amount of hours, they charge exactly the hours the overall move took. I chose to use Movers on Duty based on the consistently high quality reviews. We did a 20 mile in-town move that we were not as prepared for as I had described to Gabriel on the phone to compute our quote. Their team didn't complain about having to haul down items from four flights of stairs or patiently await my husband's and my decisions on what stays behind. Gabriel did not adjust the quote with additional fees for the extra stair-climbing workout. The team was on-time, polite, and handled our items with more care than I did myself. Efficient in their roles packing, hauling, loading, etc. Movers on Duty gives you a community-based, small business feel out to please the customer and flex with their stress as needed. I wish there are more stars for me to rate them. This is the first time we move our whole family interstate, from MD to WV. We live in a 3 bedroom townhouse with 5 adults and 3 dogs. There are so many stuff but Gabriel and his crew from Movers on Duty made things so easy and seamless. From the initial contact, quoting, filling out forms, confirmation, moving, payment, there's only one point of contact: Gabriel, and he is very helpful, professional, communicative, and thoughtful. His crew of 6-7 people showed up on time and got right to work. The whole packing and moving started at 11am, by 2pm they finished with packing and heading to our new house, and by 6:30pm they finished with unloading, reensembling our furnitures together. Moving is always exhausting, but we cannot imagine what we would have done without Movers On Duty. They were incredibly efficient, flexible, friendly, and helpful. They had to move, among other things, a lock box which is the heaviest object I've encountered, and did so with ease. It was also nice during the few spare seconds between loads that we were able to appreciate how funny and crazy it can be to move. We ended up having to make a second trip from our old apartment to the new one, and Movers On Duty was able to accommodate that for a reasonable price. Delmar, Davon, Luis, and Paul should all be commended for their contributions. I don't look forward to moving again any time soon, but when we have to, I'd definitely check back with Movers On Duty. read more

They were all truly exceptional. They made my super stressful move into a smooth and pleasant experience. I mean, from the very first conversation I had with Gabriel, I knew I had found the right moving company. He was so informative and helpful. They were punctual and gave me a heads up a few minutes before they arrived. They were super careful with the incredible volume of stuff I had. They were not only so fast but also patient and even helped bring some of my things down to my car. They had an efficient way to bring everything down from a third floor without disrupting the neighbors in my building. They wrapped and protected my mattresses and furniture. I had a great experience with the movers from start to finish. The team arrived right on time and came fully prepared with all the tools and supplies needed for the move. They carefully wrapped and handled all our furniture, including some delicate and heavy items, and made sure nothing was damaged during loading or unloading. I initially contacted MOD to in January to schedule my Sept move. I listed all of my items and dimensions and receive a flat rate quote that I couldn't believe was so affordable. Today was my move and Boston and his team arrived with great energy and ready to work. They were patient, very nice and moved my belongings with much care. Movers on Duty have helped us out a few times and I plan on making them a regular part of our common area clean-up solution. We get a lot of people dumping on our commercial properties and sometimes they make quite a mess. Movers on Duty helps us out by heading out and clearing the items, big and small, and disposing of them for us. The Movers On Duty team was so flexible with me from the outset. I moved from Maryland to Connecticut. They were able to work with me on the price and with a student budget, that is saying a lot. They called me to confirm my appointment the day before. They also called me earlier the day of the move with an ETA and called me when they were a few minutes away. My movers were very friendly and very capable. Everything was moved in a timely fashion and with no problems. My boyfriend will use them for a more involved move in February. A friend referred Gabriel to me. I called Gabriel and he was so polite; he asked me to send him pictures of what we were moving so he could give me an estimate. I sent them and he gave me a very good deal; unbelievable considering they came with their own truck. They moved our items in about 2 hours. They were very efficient and pleasant( we had some very bulky items). With care they moved our items into our desired location being extra careful with our carpets and walls and anything else necessary pertaining to our environment that they had to be mindful of. The Frederick Moving Company workers were excellent. They were very polite and worked extremely…read morehard. I have nothing negative to say about the labor. I was, however, unhappy about the quoting accuracy. When we started the project we were quote 6 men, two trucks, 10 hours at $300 per hour. So essentially $3000 estimated. Granted, our move was complicated by multiple factors. We were doing two households, my condo and my daughters townhouse over 3 days. They sent the six men on a Monday and were completely done loading my condo and 95% of my daughters townhome in 5 hours. Great! Everyone said that unloading always goes faster. The last part of my daughters townhome couldn't be done until Wednesday so everything stayed on the truck Monday and Tuesday night. This is where the first misquote came from. When interviewing Frederick Moving I asked what would be the cost of the trucks for storing overnight expecting a large charge. Rosemarie said minimal-$100. It actually turned out to be $100 per truck per night totalling $400! This was NOT disclosed during quoting. The final pickup at my daughters townhome was done in 1/2 hour but we could not move in until the closing on the new property was completed 3 hours later. Trying to mitigate the cost of 6 men at $300 per hour sitting and waiting for 3 hours ($900) I asked if they could send one truck in the morning with a couple of guys and have the other truck follow later. Bob, the owner, said no but that he would reduce the number of guys and drop the hourly to $250/hr and only send 5 guys. What he actually did was drop it to 4 guys at $215 per hour. These poor guys worked their butts off but it took 8 hours to unload the trucks! This resulted in a bill of $4480 not the original $3000 quoted. Again, the guys were great but overworked. It was the quoting that I had a complaint with and Bob did not see it the way I saw it as explained above. Thus the 3 star rating for increasing my cost by 50%. If you use them, make sure you tie it all out in writing. Again, the guys who moved us were great

Honest on delivery and pickup scheduling. Honest about where/how we could save money. Our items were delivered w/o issue. Nothing lost. Nothing broken. Our driver was in constant communication with us as to when he would be arriving at both our old and new homes.
