Had a great experience on the initial call.....Second call ended with a text message from the owner, "Hey bozo. I never accepted the job; so take your arrogant ego and stick it up your a**." "F*** off pal, I don't deal with jerks." I asked that he stop harassing me at this point and he replied with "Lose my number jerk. You're obviously harassing me." I mean.....speechless.....at a complete loss. I had to tell Mike at MovesMadeEasy 916.225.5689 multiple times what my situation was....simple things.....current town, where were headed, day, time.....but when he tried to recap, everything was wrong. From the town I lived in - to the amount of rooms and stories of the house - to the amount of time he said it would take. Eventually, my confidence in his ability to execute a smooth move was gone. Only taking cash, continually stating that he was too busy to keep things straight (in real time, like to recall the beginning of the conversation 2 minutes into the conversation,) the ridiculously unprofessional and beligerent text messages..... One (1) star is a generous rating for the type of service we received from this moving "company". Where to start? Let's start with this "company" only accepts CASH. First, what an inconvenience. Second, what century are we in? This should have been my first clue, that this was going to be a bad deal. A few weeks before our move, we spoke to "Mike" (the owner) and he gave us a quote for $1,700 ($2,100 if they packed for us). The night before the move, he comes to "check things out" and lets us know that - oh, by the way, I misquoted you and the move will actually cost $2,100. I don't know if he expected us to say "oh ok, cool" or what, but when we questioned him, he said he made a mistake and miscalculated (no apologies by the way on his error). Ok, we weren't happy about that, but with our place already packed, what were we supposed to do? We were moving 3 1/2 hours away early the next morning - hardly enough time to get a new moving company. The next day (the day of the move), we received a text from him at 6:56 am, (they were supposed to arrive at 7 am) saying he was "waiting for the truck. Leasing agency had a delay" and that he was "shooting for 8 am". At 20 minutes before 8 am, he sends another text saying that the "truck reservation was changed" and that now he was "forced to pick up at another location" (at least another hour delay). Again, what other choice did we have? While we get that things happen that we can't control, this guy never made any apologies and just had a bad attitude. When we responded to his text with a "wow" - he immediately called and said "I don't know how to process this 'wow' text message you just sent. I don't appreciate your attitude. I don't need this. Find someone else" and hung up. We were speechless. Who does that?! Let's assume for one second, that we were the worst customers that ever walked this earth - no REPUTABLE company would ever treat customers that way - leave them to hang dry like that. We had every right to be upset about this, but we had no time for that - we had to start making calls. We called two companies and one of them was able to move us the same day, basically charging us the same as Mike was charging us. Which for a same-day move, we were willing to pay an extra charge. 0-STAR!! You got to be watchful. The owner Mike is a scam artist. Like all other comments, they changed quotes, don't have the right tools to dissemble the furniture. He dinged the wall while moving out the furniture and scratched the floor while moving in the new place. DON'T trust him with money. ABSOLUTE LIAR. He tells me that he couldn't get the U-Haul truck and asked me to book online for him and he will pay me which I did as I wanted the move to happen. Showed up late to pick up the truck. He didn't had his id on him when he went to pick up the truck. Doesn't use his credit card and only cash (shady)! After finishing the job, asked for the full money and said he will pay the U-Haul once drops off the truck. I have nothing but great things to say about this moving company. Chris and Dave were quick, professional and efficient. Everything that were moved from my home were intact. Nothing broke. They even went above and beyond from uninstalling my appliances at the old home and reinstalling them at my new place. They even reassembled my master bedroom set (ie. bed, dresser w/ mirror, etc) all together at my new place. I would rehire these hard working gentlemen at any given time. The quote I got from this company were far better than some of the other highly rated movers in the Sacramento region. Overall, considering moving my entire home of 1500 sq ft into a near 1900 sq ft in 4 hours for under $400 was totally worth it. We had a short move from an apt. to house (2.5 miles) I understand scheduling bumps can happen, but when our move was scheduled to be the "last of the day" I did not think it would literally be the end of the day (movers arrived at 8:30 and with our help of moving/unloading boxes, etc.. finally finished unloading at 11:20 PM) I had specified that we needed to be out of the apartment before dark in two emails and also on the phone. When I spoke to Mike at 3 he gave an ETA of 5 PM . No one had come by 6:30 so I contacted him again and he said due to the delay we would be compensated. We are still waiting to hear what the compensation will be after almost 3 weeks after the completion of the move. The 2 movers were friendly and careful. They completed this move without breaking or losing anything, but were so exhausted since they had been doing moves since 6 A.M. that day. read more

Moves Made Easy is the one who will really make move easy. I moved from Sacramento to Fremont and booked them just a day before. The owner was pretty clear on all aspects of moving plus he assured lot of small things about how they calculate time. One of previous reviews had mentioned the uncertainty about time calculation, but in my case this owner made that point clear in advance. Offered 10% cash discount. Most amazing part that he agreed to take my assignment without any hesitation even it was just next day. Also, he offered me best moving rate out of 5/6 movers I approached. We moved from one apartment to another within the same building. The movers - Thomas and Jack - were professional, efficient, careful, and friendly. Also, it was really easy to schedule the move and the rates were much more affordable than some of the places we had called in the Sacramento area. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I had to call 3-4 times to request written (email) confirmation before I finally got written confirmation. First, do NOT use this company! I contacted Mike the owner on a Thursday looking for a mover to help with my daughters very small move. Biggest item was a refrigerator. I was told they do not insure Ikea furniture because it can fall apart, but everything else covered. We scheduled our move for Saturday morning at 9am and was assured we would have a 16-ft. truck. Friday night they called with an excuse that the truck had a been tied up with something or other and they would bring a trailer; but he would discount the "cash only" price he quoted. I expressed my concern that short trailer could not move everything in one move as we anticipated, he said he would only charge for one driving time. The next day they called at 9:10 am to say they were going to be 10 minutes late, turns out they were 45 minutes late. Mike, the owner couldn't back the trailer in straight and the dolly they brought had a flat tire! Both Mike and his helper were so slow and had to take frequent breaks to "catch their breath." My husband and son-in-law moved more than they did since we brought our own trailer. They took over 3 hours to get their 9-foot trailer packed! Then to add to the fun, we had to jump start their SUV TWICE before they could pull the trailer. Mike the owner informed my husband they would be stopping for $5 worth of gas and a cold drink on the trip to the new house. A 25-minute drive took them an hour. Again, they moved so slow. Running the clock out I assume to charge more. Finally, they start to unload the refrigerator. As professional movers, you would think they would measure door openings to determine if it will fit or should the doors be taken off the refrigerator? Not them! At the old house, they rammed the refrigerator against the wall and tile counter and who knows what else. Of course, it would not fit through the opening of the new kitchen thus requiring the doors to be removed. Plus, they banged up the wall trying to shove it through! That is when we see a huge dent and gouge as well as other scraps and dents all over the front of the refrigerator! I asked if his insurance was paying for this? This is when it gets good. The guy starts getting all offensive saying NO and raising his voice! I said "you damaged this", he told to "go buy touch up paint!" As I was reminding him that he told me he was insured, he decided to insult me further by saying "I will just talk to your husband"; I fixed that by telling him "I hired you and you need talk to me". He then got real loud and shoulders back stepping into my space trying to intimidate me, I stepped a step closer to him, looking him straight in the eye! I will not allow anyone to bully me! I told him at that point, to get the rest of our stuff off his trailer, put it all in the garage, we will take the doors off the refrigerator so he and his helper could use his special strap to carry the refrigerator in without marring the brand-new floors, then he should leave. They charged us for 4 1/2 hours and barely even did anything! Let me reiterate he only wants CASH, no checks and REFUSED to give us a receipt. I did tell him that I was going to give him a bad review on Yelp, he then went to my husband and said how can I stop her from giving me a bad review. He REALLY didn't want a bad review! His business address is a storage business and he only gets un-suspecting victims from Yelp. No one should have to deal with this crass, rude, obnoxious, argumentative, unprofessional person, who is affecting people's lives when they are in the middle of a move. Not to mention he destroys your possessions. Please do yourself a favor and move on to the next mover no matter what kind of deal he offers. read more

I have hired this company twice. The first time was a move between downtown locations...the second time was a much larger move from EDH to East Sac. This company is beyond professional. They show up on time, they move fast and they went the extra distance to protect my belongings and home. Fair pricing and a modest fuel surcharge to travel from Roseville. I would never use this company again nor would I recommend it to anybody I like. THE GOOD: - Movers were very friendly and polite. - Movers wrapped all requested items and took good care of those items. We had no damaged furniture. THE BAD: - Movers showed up 45 minutes late - Owner Mike assured repeatedly there were no extra charges for drive time. The movers made a one-way trip from Roseville to Lincoln...a 10 minute drive, maybe 15 minutes in a truck. Heck let's call it 20 minutes for fun. We were charged ONE HOUR for driving time. The initial quote from Mike advised the flat rate fee includes "drive-time" and made no mention of extending that time randomly at the whim of the driver. Extending the drive time from 15 minutes to one hour is tantamount to dishonest business practices. - Owner Mike assured us of "no hidden fees." Semantics maybe, but I'll let you be the judge. When all is said and done we were told the only method of payment was CASH or a card over the phone with a 5% extra charge. Since we don't have $543 in cash laying around we got stuck with a 5% "hidden fee." PS- no checks. - We had about 6-7 friends/family helping with the move. Our folks easily cut the move time in 1/2 using their own trucks and trailers. A guy from our group helped disconnect and carry all the appliances and heavy items which I was hoping the professional movers would handle. - Toward the end of the move it felt as though the movers were either tired or intentionally going slow to add billing hours. Folding blankets instead of unloading the truck. Either way it was frustrating and expensive. Long story short, without this moving company I 'd be about $400 richer (minus the cost of the uhaul) and have completed the move in the same time frame if not quicker. read more

Moves Made "Easy"? Ha! Our move was schedule to begin at noon. The day before, the owner, Michael, called to tell me it would be closer to 1:00. The day of our scheduled move, I received no less than 8 phone calls telling me they were running late. They finally showed up at 5:00 p.m. It was a hot day and the movers were sweaty and dirty and, I'm sure, already exhausted. They put knicks in dressers, a hole in the back of a bookcase, and dirty handprints and stinky sweat on my mattresses. Although I felt bad for the two men doing the move and what they had probably been through that day, I was very angry to be moving into our new house after dark when my husband had to get up early the next day for work. The owner's response? "That's the way it is in the moving business". I do no recommend this company. read more

What started out right went horribly wrong. A tale of how the world is full of people with good intentions. We needed to move relatively quickly because the new owners moving in had stepped up their move-in date. Isabelle and Mike both came out to bid for the work. We were told that the work would be hourly but walked the entire house and looked in every cupboard and room in the house. We were told the initial estimate would include everything we had asked for and would come in at our budget for moving. We told them that if the estimate was going to be any higher we would move ourselves. We were assured that the estimate was a good estimate, but the estimate was based on an hourly rate. In the middle of the move we were told that it would take nearly twice as long to do the move as they had originally estimated. This had an immediate effect of a) the amount DOUBLING and b) the job taking longer. During the move they were incredibly hard working and polite. They were on time and did make the move happen. However, there was some minor damage to some of our furniture and we had a large 6ft mirror broken. We made the mistake of working with these people on an hourly rate (they didn't offer a fixed price). That was our mistake. But the complete mis-estimation of how long it would take them was nothing short of incomprehensible and was entirely their mistake. You could see maybe a 10% or even a 20% increase in time, but a 100% overage? Had they given us an accurate estimate we wouldn't have used them and would probably have moved ourselves. If they had stayed within their original estimate their service would have been superb. However, you cannot double the price of a job in the middle of the job - especially when you are already dealing with the stress of moving home. It simply appears as a bait-and-switch to get the business. It feels very dishonest even if it isn't. If you do decide to business with these people, make sure you get a FIXED price and make sure you get it in WRITING before you move forward. In addition, make sure you document any damage they do (should any occur) and have any changes to the job amount done in writing and that both parties sign it. read more

I had initially scheduled Mike and his team to move for us a couple weeks back, but because of a scheduling conflict they weren't able to do it on the day we originally agreed upon. Mike was extremely helpful in rescheduling our move and compensated us for the trouble. His team was quick, friendly, and reviewed the process before beginning. Everything made it to the house in one piece and the storage unit we vacated was clean when they left. I'd recommend these guys and would use them again if needed. read more

Once they got to our home they were very experienced in getting things done quickly but safely as to not damage the walls or furniture. Although we did not have a household to move, we are very particular in getting the right kind of help in moving furniture around. HUGE JERKKKK!!! HE NEVER SHOWED UP!!!! And he didn't even have the decency to text me back to let me know he wasn't coming! I scheduled him a week ago and sent a text to confirm the day before and he said we were on, then an hour later he said he double booked and needed to move me the day after! I thought he was joking! After freaking out, a few unanswered texts, and calls, he called saying his other customer was flexible but asked if he could come at 7am instead of 9am. Of course, I said yes, but later realized I had to do 7:30. I text him that night and no reply again! The next morning, moving day, I text and called him to make sure he got my messages about having to meet him at 7:30 and no reply! Finally, at 7:15 he sent a text saying his truck was delayed and he was trying to get another one. I called, and no answer! I text asking if he could get a U-Haul, no answer! Finally, at 8:45 I sent a text asking him to please let me know if he was coming, because if he wasn't I needed to figure out Plan B. NOTHING! NO REPLY!!! Luckily, I was able to rent a U-Haul and I scrambled to find some guys to come help me move!! A 2-hour move for him took me until 8:30 pm! DO NOT HIRE THIS SCUM BAG!!! I have never hired a moving company so maybe some of the negatives I experienced are common when hiring movers. PRO's: When I called I spoke with the owner who was more than helpful and even went as far as to rent a truck for the day of my move as they were already booked. The price per hour is cheaper than any other price I was quoted from other companies and it included everything! They wrap your furniture and one of our movers was professional and seemed to be working as fast as he possibly could. CON's: when I hired the movers I was told that I could use the movers for a specific time allotment; ie: have them pack in as much furniture as they could and get it unloaded within a time frame and anything left over we could do ourselves. This is not what happened. The first 30 minutes were spent going over paperwork and parking the truck. We kept reminding our movers of our time frame and they kept assuring us not to worry. I even asked them not to move the boxes since we had other help and just wanted the heavy furniture and appliances moved. It was almost as if we were being ignored, at one point the guy told me the max they would go over was one hour and they wouldn't charge more than that. In the end they went over 2 full hours and charged us the full amount. They loaded boxes before furniture and moved stuff that we kept telling them to skip. In fairness, the other mover did not look like he had ever moved a piece of furniture and needed to be told how to do everything from wrapping to loading the truck. If we had 2 experienced movers then I think they probably could have gotten the job done a lot faster. The inexperienced mover also took a big chunk out of the wall and when he was maneuvering stuff. When we brought this to their attention they promised to come back and fix it before we had to be completely out of our rental. They never came back or called and when my husband tried to call the cellphone number the guy left it was disconnected. So, in the end we were out an extra $150 from the move and are still waiting to see what will be taken off our deposit from our landlord for the wall. read more

Would NOT recommend to anyone!!! I recently used their services to move from Roseville to the Bay Area. It was a horrible and disappointing experience. After reading some of the negative reviews I should have listened to my instincts and not use Moves Made Easy. Customer Service: If you would like timely call back, that will not happen here. You will have to keep calling as the owner does not return calls unless you you keep calling him. Quality of Service: The movers damaged the TV Media (a chunk of particle board came off and scratches), dresser (handles came undone and scratches) and some cups (broken). I advised the Mike (the owner) of the damage and he advised they TV Media and dresser could be patched with some paint pen. He was not getting the point though I tried to explain to him...the TV media though not expensive (thus not covered under the contract) was sentimental in value as it was given by a family member prior to passing thus priceless. Mike offered to fix the damage himself and yes I can put some paint on it but that is not the original condition. My point is this could have been avoidable; the movers were just plain careless and did not care. The owner had previous issues with one of the movers but chose to still send him out on the job. The worst was: When I came back to my old place to pick up a few remaining items I realized during the mover the mover used my restroom without asking me and did a #2. He left reminence in the toilet- DISGUSTING!!! So to say the least if you have items you care about, I would not recommend Moves Made Easy. Keep in mind the contract states the insurance covers less than a dollar per pound; 'throw away' items are not covered at all. Worst experience of my life. I moved yesterday. They were two hours late, didn't want to move my tv's or glass patio table so now I have to do it myself. They almost dropped one of my dressers. Totally unorganized. I was totally packed. I now have to have a chair professionally cleaned because they didn't wrap it. Total bait and switch pricing. His crew broke a 2500$ TV and Mike told me the best he could do is give me $60 to cover it. I laughed. He did not tell me anything about the insurance policy which is something ridiculous like 30 cents per pound of broken objects. I have over 100,000$ worth of furniture, electronics, and antiques. I told him I wanted to be fully covered on the move and he agreed. Next thing you know, they break my 2500$ TV and try to hide it without telling me they broke it. We hired this company to move us in February of 2013. We were given a time frame and quote over the phone, but no one came to actually evaluate what the move would take. The movers showed up on time, with a truck equal to a large UHaul, my husband knew then the task would much more time consuming than we had been told. There were just 2 men and one relatively small truck for the job. The moving took over 7 hours (we could have accomplished this ourselves), and the entire time we were told if you want to save $$ move some the stuff yourselves REALLY?? Well we did as we were being charged by the hour. The one man stayed in the truck almost the entire time while his partner and us moved everything. The to top it off my sons brand new KINDLE which he had just received for Christmas disappeared the same day. I called the owner and he said to finish unpacking and we didn't find it contact him, we never found it, I sent an email stating that and never got a response. I from personal experience would never use this company again they wound up costing us just as much a s a large company which would have been far more professional. read more

My wife make a call to Mike the owner to schedule the appointment in which I met Mike. The time we agreed was for 9:30 AM to move (Oct. 10th). I waited 2 hours with no response and I called a few more time before Mike answered and said they would be at my apartment by 2:00 PM. My wife asked me to call another mover but I felt I should stick with the mover. They finally showed up at 4:00 PM!!!!! The move was completed around 9:00 PM. The contract said a NTE 4.5 hours but they charged me for 5.5 hours and they were supposed to give me a 10% cash back if I paid in cash. I was very tired and the movers were also tired and I just wanted them out of the way. I did make the payment and I was going to call Mike about the overcharge and shortage but he did not answer my phone calls. I finally contacted Mike and he agreed to give me the money that was owed to me ($120.00) but I still have not heard from him.
