In addition, he was not consistently responding to basic commands, making the situation even more challenging to manage safely. Bill took the time to understand exactly what was happening and provided us with clear, practical guidance on how to address our dog's behavior. Through his training, our dog became much more responsive to commands, calmer in the home, and easier to manage around our other dogs. We saw a noticeable improvement not only in his obedience, but also in his overall behavior and temperament. After the two week board-and-train program was complete, we also continued with weekly sessions for additional training and support. Those follow-up sessions were incredibly valuable in reinforcing what our dog had learned, answering our questions, and helping us stay consistent at home. That ongoing guidance made a meaningful difference in maintaining his progress and continuing to build better behavior over time. What stood out to us just as much was how passionate and knowledgeable Bill is about training. It is clear that he genuinely cares about helping both dogs and their owners succeed, and he brings a great deal of experience and understanding to the process. He was patient, confident, and always willing to explain the reasoning behind the training, which made us feel comfortable, informed, and supported throughout the entire experience.

I enrolled my dog in their 3-week board-and-train program for $3,600. During camp, they sent…read moreoccasional photos and videos, which made me feel things were going well. But when I got her back, she was wearing a prong collar -- one of those metal collars with sharp prongs. I was told to keep it on for a week and follow their training modules exactly. We followed their instructions. A week later, I discovered puncture wounds on her neck. They were bleeding and infected, so we rushed her to the emergency vet, where she was treated for several punctures and infection. The bill came to $1,400. When I contacted Benchmark, horrified, the trainer admitted she "had forgotten to mention" that the prong collar should only be used during training sessions and removed afterward. That information would have been critical and could have prevented the injury. The follow up email with instructions also did not mention it anywhere. I still don't know if she was already hurt before she came back home, or if the tight collar caused it during that week, but either way, it was a major oversight. The collar itself was clearly too tight. If they had added just one more link, it would have fit better and may have avoided the injury altogether. Instead, my dog suffered, and the recovery set her back weeks -- undoing much of the progress she had made. Benchmark's official response was that they "take no responsibility" for anything that happens outside of camp. After that, I never heard back from them. My program was supposed to include follow-up lessons, but once I reported the injury, it seems they cut off communication. Between the $3,600 program and the $1,400 vet bill, I lost $5,000 -- and ended up with a traumatized dog who couldn't even continue her training while she healed. They claim to care about animals, but they rely on harsh tools like prong collars and e-collars, fit them improperly, and fail to provide basic instructions on safe use. Then, when their methods cause real harm, they refuse to take accountability. I waited a few weeks to see if Benchmark Dog Training would reach back out to address what happened to my dog. They never did, so I'm sharing my experience here. I cannot recommend Benchmark Dog Training. If you love your pups, look elsewhere.

We have taken several classes from them and continue with their weekly obedience classes. Our puppy is now a joy and no longer doing all the crazy stuff she was doing.

I have gone to petsmart multiple times and haven't had an issue up until now…read more I took my dog in to get a slight haircut and cleaning and showed a picture of what I wanted (same thing as always) and was ensured that was what was going to be done. Upon picking up my dog, I immediately noticed she was shaved completely.... obviously FAR from what I had asked for and I mentioned that I was not happy to which I was immediately dismissed and told "she was matted so we shaved her". My dog was not matted, never has been as I wash and brush her once a week... even then, shaving her was never discussed. When I started to talk to a manager I was immediately asked "was she matted" rather than a slight concern. I was considering Pets Hotel until i found out that they crate their dogs most of the day and barely play outside. Ollie doesn't like crates and loves to be around humans and other dogs. So, I did my research and came across Maisy's Mutts! We did a meet and greet 3 weeks before I had to leave for the weekend and it went great. I felt SO comfortable leaving Ollie with the family and Manni kept me updated every day with pictures which definitely helped with my separation anxiety (LOL!). Ollie loves them and he had so much fun with Maisy and their other furry friend. Manni is definitely my go-to boarding place!!!

When we used to pick up Sadie from other boarders she was always thrilled to be coming home but at 5 Paws Up Sadie almost seems a little sad to be leaving Jennyfer (the owner of 5 Paws) and the dogs that she has played with!
