    Jasmine Matcha Cloud
    Courtney L.

A few minutes before 11:00A on a Friday, a line already formed outside of MOWOOD, the latest matcha cafe in Redmond. In addition to their popular Japanese Nama donuts, they also offer a couple of coffee and smoothie options too. Two of us were second in line, so we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Based on our quick interaction with the staff at the counter, they were friendly and our drinks appeared to be crafted with care. Note: All drinks default to light sweetness and a standard amount of ice. They also default to whole milk which adds a nice richness to the drinks, though alternative milks are available for an extra charge. + JASMINE MATCHA CLOUD ($6.75, 16 oz.): A Jasmine milk tea combined with matcha and topped with a layer of their house cold foam. Given the Jasmine tea base, the matcha flavor actually took a backseat, allowing the floral notes to shine. Nevertheless, I personally really enjoyed the drink and the sweetness and ice levels were just right for me. The cold foam was creamy, slightly sweet and seemed to have just a tiny hint of salt. + STRAWBERRY MATCHA ($6.75, 16 oz.): A vibrant red strawberry jam pooled at the bottom of the cup, layered with whole milk and the deep green ceremonial matcha on top. The strawberry tasted really ripe and natural, not overly sweet. After a quick stir, the drink was pretty balanced, although leaning more towards the berry flavor with an underlying earthiness from the matcha. I enjoyed it and actually felt a little jolt of energy that afternoon. + NAMA DONUTS: They offered three types of filling that day - matcha, chocolate and vanilla - or you could order them plain. These donuts were soft, coated lightly in fine sugar and filled with a satisfying amount of cream. The dough had a nice yeasty chew, though it was not quite as airy as I anticipated. We ordered one MATCHA ($6.00) and one VANILLA ($5.50). The matcha cream had the perfect strength and I loved the luscious vanilla bean cream in the other one. Again, not too sweet! MOWOOD is a wonderful addition to Redmond's cafe scene! I'm glad I tried the donuts once, but I'd return for the matcha... the drinks are delightful and a relatively good value for the price.

MOWOOD @ REDMOND Parking is street parking only, so don't expect to find a private parking lot right next door. If you have some extra time and plan on exploring Redmond before or after your visit, I'd recommend parking at Redmond Town Center. It's only a couple of blocks away and has a free parking garage along with plenty of street parking. From there, it's an easy walk to Mo Wood. Otherwise, you can try to find street parking nearby. There aren't a ton of spots, but if you're lucky, you can usually grab one. I actually came here because my brother recommended it after trying it himself. I found it on Yelp, and it was interesting because it's listed as a coffee shop. I had been looking for new matcha spots since the only one I'd really been to before was Matcha Magic. I like Matcha Magic, but sometimes their matcha can be a little watered down, so I wanted to try something new. The staff was friendly, and the menu had a huge variety of drinks. They offered several different matcha options, smoothies that reminded me a bit of Erewhon's signature smoothies, and plenty of coffee choices as well. The café itself is beautiful and has a really clean, aesthetic atmosphere. My only small complaint is that it was extremely quiet inside. I wish the background music had been turned up just a little, not because I wanted loud music, but because it was so quiet that you could hear every conversation happening around you. I also wish there were a few larger tables. Most of the seating consists of small café tables, so if you're planning to bring your laptop and work for a few hours, it may not be the most comfortable setup. That said, it's a perfect spot to grab a coffee or matcha with a friend and relax for a bit. My drink came out to about $7.90, and they gave me a $5 coupon toward my next purchase. I'd definitely recommend entering your phone number to start earning rewards. As for the matcha, it was amazing. The ceremonial-grade matcha tasted incredibly fresh, vibrant, and high quality. The strawberry flavor was balanced perfectly and wasn't overly sweet. One thing I'm usually picky about is when cafés add too much syrup or too much ice. I even asked if they could adjust the sweetness, but they mentioned they couldn't make changes. Thankfully, it ended up being absolutely perfect exactly as it was. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be coming back. If you're looking for a high-quality matcha spot in Redmond, I highly recommend giving Mo Wood a try!

Mowood is a great cafe on the Eastside located in Redmond for those looking for matcha. I like that it is super accessible if you don't drive, since it's right by the Redmond light rail station. The interior is cute and minimalist, plus they have both indoor and outdoor seating. I tried the Jasmine Cloud Matcha and the Matcha Cloud Latte both were incredibly creamy and used high-quality matcha, though the drinks leaned a bit milky and could be a tad stronger in matcha flavor. Their black sesame nami donut is super fluffy and not too sweet! It is a bit pricy but worth trying at least once if they have it in stock!

MOWOOD is a fantastic addition to downtown Redmond! It can be difficult to find high-quality matcha on the Eastside, and MOWOOD absolutely delivers. Not only do they offer a great selection of unique matcha flavors, but the overall vibe and aesthetic of the café are beautiful, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. I tried the Banana Pudding Matcha, which wasn't overly sweet on its own, but the banana pudding on top took it to the next level. It was rich, balanced, and incredibly delicious. The Strawberry Matcha was equally impressive--fresh, flavorful, and the perfect amount of sweet. The donuts really elevated the experience. Being able to pair your matcha with a doughnut featuring a similar flavor profile was such a fun concept, and every pairing lived up to expectations. I can't wait to come back and try even more from MOWOOD's menu!

As an LA native, I can confirm this place is indeed NOT a "Community Goods" dupe, but instead, a complete let down. Banana Pudding Matcha: the pudding was chunky and not creamy enough. Therefore, it was hard to dissolve fully into the drink, making the matcha latte consist of undesirable textures rather than being smooth. 5/10 Jasmine Matcha Cloud: the matcha flavor was diluted and nearly absent. The jasmine tea taste was very mild. Overall, just tasted watered down and no milk substitution either for this drink! 4/10 Matcha Cloud Latte: matcha cream top over matcha latte. Not too sweet and decent. However, the matcha is still not very strong. The cup size was also outrageously small. 6/10 Street parking is available around the block and there's seating indoors and outdoors. Busy environment and very clean interior. We waited about 5 minutes for our drinks to be ready. Overall, would definitely not come back, and would appreciate if people stopped comparing it to places that are ACTUALLY good in LA because it's quite insulting.

MOWOOD is a cafe located in Redmon that serves matchas, coffees, smoothies, and pastries. It is right across the Redmond Town Center. It was very easy to find parking; either around the building, or retail parking garage. The interior is bright and welcoming. It is on the smaller side, so I wouldn't recommend hanging around too long as it can get crowded. When we arrived Saturday at noon, there was a line almost out the door. The line moved fairly quickly, and it seemed customers received their orders quickly as well! I ordered the Matcha Cloud Latte with the defaulted whole milk option and a Vanilla Custard donut. My sister ordered the Jasmine Matcha Cloud also with the defaulted whole milk and Matcha Cream donut. The verdict about the drinks is it was quite milky. The milk flavor overpowered the matcha flavoring in the drinks for both of them. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Also, I noticed my drink was smaller than my sister's. Mine was a 12oz and hers was a 16oz. I didn't notice the difference while we were ordering because it was hard to see the indication. The donuts were good. You could taste the matcha flavoring in the cream. I liked the texture of the dough and the sweetness of the dough, too. I was quite surprised that the cost of the drinks wasn't outrageous. Our drinks were each $6.75. That's great to see because I am tired of seeing drinks that are almost $10.

Very cute match and donut shop! We had gotten there right at opening on a Sunday morning and there was already a line out the door with one flavor of donut sold out :( get here early if you want a specific donut. All the donuts are super nice though! The brioche is super soft and the savory flavor with potato cream was super unique and delicious. Highly recommend trying the donuts. The matcha is pretty good as well, but not as good as other spots on the Seattle side. Compared to other spots on the Eastside though, much better! We were able to get seating, but minimal seating is available.

I got there at 11am on a Sunday. There was already a short line, which quickly grew after I ordered. When I got there, service was fast but I think there was more of a wait when I left ~12pm. Space was bright, and can sit ~20 people. Reviews said parking was difficult to find so I took the lightrail and it was just steps from the Redmond Town Center station. The goodies!! -------- *Strawberry Matcha w/ Matcha Cream Top (Oat) - One of the best strawberry matchas I've ever had!! The strawberry puree was fresh, I especially like it where the puree has actual chucks of strawberry in it, which this definitely does! + the cream top was perfect. 10/10!! *Banana Pudding Matcha (Oat) - I wish they had banana syrup throughout the matcha. It was just a regular matcha with banana pudding on top so the banana flavor was lost. *Potato Truffle Donut - They had a piece of prosciutto on top and that was the best bite. They should have prosciutto throughout the donut as it came off a bit bland. *Matcha Cream Donut - Not too sweet. Good earthy matcha flavor! Overall, I'd come back for the matcha, but have had better brioche donuts elsewhere.

As a Bay Area/LA native, I had to try since I saw this is the community goods dupe but located in WA! the shop is located in downtown Redmond conveniently near the link/public transit. The store itself is well lit and has a sleek modern design but be aware there's not much table seating if you're trying to get work done. some 2 hour street parking outside but could get busy during peak hours. I visited around 2pm on a Friday afternoon and there were still plenty of donuts left but they sold out around 3pm. Not too long of a wait during this time. I ordered the strawberry matcha and the matcha cream donut. The matcha was very umami and the strawberry paired well with the drink but the syrup was a bit too sweet for my liking. The donut was very fluffy and not too sweet and the matcha cream was just perfect! Reasonably priced (~$15 for drink+ matcha) A bit overhyped on social media but the matcha wasn't bad! The strawberry skin glow (Hailey Bieber smoothie dupe) looked really interesting though and I would love to come back to try!

Jasmine matcha cloud is our favorite drink!! The banana pudding matcha is pretty good and so is the strawberry smoothie. Great ambiance and quick service!! The doughnuts were light and airy and had great fillings! I tried the custard and matcha and would opt for the custard of the two choices!

I heard about this place and decided to give it a try. Of note: didn't expect a coffee and donut place to open at 11 and not earlier. We got there at around 1055 an there was already a long line -- advice: go on weekdays is probably best. It's right next to the light rail so pretty convenient. The place has some seatings which is nice. I wish they had more non caffeinated options though for drinks. The only option they had was 2-3x as much as their matcha and caffeinated drink.... I ended up just getting the donuts: Plain and black sesame. My kids love it so a bonus point! The texture was soft and surprisingly it wasn't greasy at all. It was a good balance of sweetness as well. I probably would come back when I'm in the area on a weekday haha. Weekend waits are not for me.

The matcha was on point with the cloud on top. Perfect combo. If you're a matcha fan, pairing it with the matcha donut was perfect! Sweet and fluffy, but not too sweet.

Tried the plain and vanilla cream donuts today. Luckily the line wasn't too long. We arrived about 15 min before opening and there were only 6 people ahead of us. We were a little disappointed that the donuts weren't that warm. It's understandable that the cream needs to be kept cold but the plain one was also cool to the touch. I will say the vanilla custard was pretty good. The vanilla tasted like real vanilla and you could see the specks in the cream. The donut itself was a little small but nice and fluffy. Overall, a decent donut, not sure if it's worth a long wait.

I ordered a hot tea with honey and went back to ask for more honey because I didn't taste any. I was told I would have to pay for honey from the person who took my order originally. I said I already paid for honey and she said yes I know. So, they are charging for additional added honey when there was no honey to taste. Now they give one bag of tea regardless of size ordered and charge for ore bags and anything added. Why is the owner and management of this coffee shop so concerned with their employee conversations, culture when they have little regard and very little attention to customer experience and satisfaction. Months ago, the district manager made sure to tell employees to not allow me to split my two bags of tea into two orders because I wasn't paying for the added honey. Seriously?!?!! When I used to spend $30 a day every day they want to give yet another reason to not give them business. Ugghhh! Customers are numbers and not people. Point made over and over now.
