This location was totally convenient, as our hotel was mere blocks away. So close my friend and I came here twice in one day. So first it was lunch. We both had the fish tacos and they were 0 for 2. They looked great on the plate and for most accounts perfect, but...the fish was way over cooked. Because it wasn't the first time either of us had been here we chalked it up to the cook having a bad day. Hey, it happens and that's probably why we had no problem suggesting the place when we went for a late dinner with our third table mate. Dinner was a true four star event. The staff was more than accommodating. One member of our party raved for the Beef Vindaloos, but requested some sliced banana to off set the spice...no problem. I wanted a plain ole' burger, but also wanted to try the Chipotle roasted Potatos found on the winter menu. No problem adding it as a side. Shame about the fish tacos, as this Moxie's so deserves the highest a chain could ever get on my list. read more

Service is good. Our server was very friendly. The food... not so much. 1. Mosaic Dip was average. The cheese taste was quite strong 2. The serving for calamari was sooooo small. It was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. BUT it was very bland 3. Chicken rigatoni had an overly salty and thick sauce, which wasn't appetizing at all 4. Lettuce wraps was very odd (it had chow mein bits, edamame, ginger, green beans, cilantro). Interesting concept, but odd taste Even though service was good, it was a disappointing dinner. Just a short drive from YVR (and an even closer drive to the River Rock Casino) is this Canadian staple chain. It was a bit later than usual (~10pm) so there wasn't any wait. Our server was friendly though a bit on the slow side. The menu sounded pretty delicious, and the food wasn't bad, it just wasn't something to write home about. After a long day on the road I enjoyed the avocado spring rolls and niçoise salad. It's definitely one of the better chains I've dined in and not a bad option if it's getting late and you don't want to get fast food. read more

Re-ordered a different entree hoping it would be complimentary considering my appetite was ruined as was the atmosphere for our dinner out. Instead, we paid for everything we ate and drank. Came here for the first time to try the 818 tequila with a friend. Waited an hour for food, got a salad while my friend got the tacos. Everyone around us got their food first (we were there first) while one couple even arrived and paid by the time we got our food. Her tacos were cold as was the chicken in my salad. The manager, who actually came off as quite caring, came over and comped her meal (not mine) while offering to provide us with a shared 'free dessert'. I asked for a discount instead because I just wanted to leave and didn't want to ask for more compensation. They gave me $3 off my $35 meal (we waited the exact same amount of time.) After I sucked it up and paid, the manger gave me a $15 coupon for my next experience. I asked for it to be put on my bill and to be refunded because I don't live near to a moxies (it expires). For some reason I thought Moxie's was the same as Milestones / Earls / Cactus Club... It's not. Food and decor was reminiscent of White Spot before their renovation and new menu. Selection of food seemed weird. Vegetarian options were salad or a veggie burger. Food was bad. Salad was some cheap greens and a bottled dressing. Chicken burger was served on a cold, stale bun with 20 mushy fries. Pasta was overcooked and bland. Waitress was perky but somehow awkward and off-putting. read more

I've been to Moxie's twice now. The first time, I was pleasantly surprised because I was there on their wing night, which is quite a value. They have a variety of flavors to choose from like Buffalo Wild Wings. The wings were juicy, but the sauces were all kind of on the sweet side. Teriyaki and honey garlic were almost indistinguishable. The dining room and bar was nicely decorated. Service was polite and prompt, although I was perplexed by being served a StrongBow over ice with a straw and a lime in it. No biggie though. The second time I ordered pot stickers and the teriyaki beef bowl. This was after I was passed from different server to different server to place a to-go order. I was pleased that they offered a 10 percent discount for my company. Once my order was taken, the woman helping me was very pleasant. But, it would have been nice to been offered a seat at the bar while I waited, or a glass of water or something. I just stood there awkwardly in my rain-soaked coat waiting an excessive amount of time in their hallway since there were no chairs. Everyone kept thinking I was in line for the bathroom or something. Now onto the real reason for the two star review, everything I ate was worse quality than Panda Express. How can a city with such a huge Asian population get away with serving pot stickers and a teriyaki dish that inedible? The other perplexing thing is that they serve teriyaki-flavored wings, but the sauce on my teriyaki beef bowl was definitely not a teriyaki I recognized. It tasted like that horrible canned fake La Choy Chinese food families in middle America served in the 1970s. And it was just as salty too! The beef, which they upcharged me for, was tough and gray. It looked like the undesirable cuts for a stew that would cook over a long period of time. The potstickers were no better. These were definitely the frozen Costco variety. I know they tasted familiar and there's a Costco up the street. Hmmm? Anyway, they also gave me two sauces with it. One was a vaguely soy-chili sauce. The other? Some kind of sweet salsa. That was just weird. Overall, totally underwhelmed by the experience. It's too bad too because I stay here often for work. They could have had a regular. The other reviewer was right. It's totally on par with TGI FRIDAYS or Applebee's except it's pricier. For over $28, I definitely got a meal that was less tasty than mall or airport Chinese/Japanese. I really don't get how they could mess up something so simple as teriyaki beef! Maybe I just ordered wrong, but I don't care to try this place again to find out. When I got back to my room, my stomach became upset an hour or two after eating here. I definitely had to run to the restroom a couple of times if you know what I mean. Never again. Sorry, Moxies. This was the worst meal dining out in a very long time. Not only the food was absolutely disgusting the service was equally terrible. Not somewhere we would typically choose but we had the received a gift certificate from there so took a risk. We waited 15 minutes before anyone came by and another 10 mins or more for our drinks, beer was served in a warm glass....then some waitress in a coma came by and asked some automated questions every now and then. One order was missing half the order and instead of reversing the charges they took off $3.00... The food arrived quite a while later still and it was the most foul experience. The salsa was at least two days old, actually everything tasted old with the exception of the sour cream. Still shudder at the horror they call food....While the menu tries to mimic Cactus Club they are so far off that they may as well give up. As far as passion for food don't see it in the regurgitated meals they call food.NEVER go to Moxie's save your money and stick to Cactus Club...The staff seemed like they didn't want to be there and were going through the motions and well the food an unspeakable horror. All the food we ordered was incredible!! They all tasted amazing, and the the service was great as well. Our server, Brooklyn, was awesome and very polite. Even when one of the orders came out wrong, it was immediately corrected and the manager apologized and offered to make it up to us. I approached the guy who appeared to be the manager and showed him my my one dish and his response was, "They always do that. I can have them remake it." Went here last night, service was awful & dimwitted (when someone asks you for water, you bring the whole table water) it took almost an hour for our food to come, the fall off the bone ribs were tough as nails, the burgers were so charred went on the side of burnt, it was disgusting. We told the water runner they said they would get a manager, they never came, never saw our server again. Won't be back. Daughter ordered herb Alfredo, quite nice.when added prawns; quite large, but only.four. probably.the right amount. Son ordered chicken enchiladas. He really.likes.them and tonight was no exception. Tried.to get.some waters and a lemonade refill, that took forever. Plates sat for a good 10 minutes before they were cleared. I had reservations for 20 people and phoned to bump up my reservations to 25 people for this Saturday at 9pm. My next question/favour was if there was any way possible to buy around 5 white choclate brownies and put them all together as a cake. i was put on hold for a brief moment...... I felt like it was my lucky day!!!! Jessica came back and offered me the banquet room for the size of the group which was extremely nice of her, this way our party would have our own space instead of being in the dining area of the restaurant!!!! how sweet is that! second, she told me that they were able to put together a bunch of "bite of white choclate brownies" for me on a platter to make it look like a birthday cake! A HUGE thank you to Jessica, i cant wait for the surprise party tomorrow night, i truly appreciate all that you have already done and i haven't even stepped into the restaurant yet. I met a client for breakfast this morning and we tried to dine at Moxie's in Richmond. We arrived at 8:00 and there were only five tables occupied. We had to wait nearly five minutes before we saw any restaurant employee. Finally, someone came and sat us at our table. We waited another 7-8 minutes and never saw a glimpse of any person resembling a server. We finally gave up and walked out to find another restaurant. Obviously, they were extremely short-staffed today. I'm just guessing. It would have been nice if our hostess had warned us about potential delays. The last time I complained about a lack of service in a local restaurant was at a Rockford's site - owned by the same company as Moxie's. Bad sign! read more

She was delightful and enthusiastic and was completely amazing. She checked in with me a thoughtful amount of times. I was them presented with my dish that tasted great!
