Although I stayed here for work during the week and saw others doing the same, it's more geared for a fun time than to get work done. There is a small desk in the room with a bench to work at, and if you want coffee you'll have to buy it at Zombie Taco (which was sooo yummy with fast and friendly service). My initial impression of Moxy was that it's a hotel for people in their 30s desperately wishing that they were still in their 20s, and I'm still not convinced I'm wrong. Moxy is trying really hard to be super, super, super cool. However, the service is great. The rooms were mostly great -- though I'm not sure about doing away with a bathroom and instead having the shower open directly into the bedroom. I loved playing board games in the lobby as we waited for our friends to come downstairs. The hotel provided tokens good for drinks at the bar, which was a nice touch. Free coffee would have been appreciated, too. Instead it was $5. Oh well. All in all, I'd be happy to come back for another night or two. read more

This review is for the actual hotel- not the restaurant inside (Zombie Tacos). Let me start by saying this is a very cool boutique style hotel- super trendy and fun. We stayed this past weekend for Halloween in the city so the hotel was decorated and the employees were in costume. The employees were super nice and attentive. The rooms are fairly small- again boutique style. I do wish there was a mini fridge or even an ice bucket- I think others mentioned that too. The best part about this hotel is the location and how it's walking distance from everything. I would deff stay here again. read more

I love everything about this lobby turned bar turned taco spot turned board game spot. It does get busy but if you hang around, turnover is usually pretty quick. Tacos come out fast and they have no problem with you adding on well after your 3rd or 4th taco. Bar service is a bit quicker and more attentive than being seated at a table, so if you're in a hurry or short on time, the bar is your best bet. read more

I went here with five people. We all were wearing professional casual clothing. The group consisted of two physicians, a pharmacist, an analytics person and an accountant. We sat outside and ordered close to two hundred dollars worth of drinks. There was NOTHING about us that looked like we would leave without paying. So, we asked for the check and asked for my card back (we put the card down for the tab) and this waitress said, "I won't give your card back because you might run without paying." I was super excited to stay here for a wedding. Great atmosphere. The parking garage they recommend to use us quite far especially with items to carry. When we checked in we went to our room, they gave us a DIRTY room. The housekeeper on the floor was extremely nice, called to the manager and they advise to go back down to the front desk to get a new room. Once I got to the front desk I asked for a manager, they asked what was the issue and never had a manager come out. They gave me $20 chips for food and beverage for our troubles but I was still late to the wedding because of it. The rooms are very cool, EXTREMELY small. I'm going to San Diego in a couple of weeks and choose not to use this hotel there. The staff needs to be more friendly. read more

Moxy was deserving of the 2.5 stars because of the fun atmosphere and accommodating drink/ cocktail options. If you're looking for a low key night, I would recommend stopping by and hanging out on their couches playing the various games that they keep open to the public. However, be aware that the service is awful. In the two hours that my boyfriend and I spent there last night, we got one round of drinks and that too only because i got up to pick them up from the bar myself. After placing an order for the second round of drinks, we decided to get up and cancel the order after waiting for 30 minutes. They closed out our tab for us and returned our credit card and offered a free drink- however- it was not worth waiting another 30 minutes. We ended up leaving very disappointed. read more

Recently, our office did a social mixer at the lobby of the Moxy Hotel - It was one of the best mixers I've attended! The place itself (aside from great coworkers) definitely was the reason! Moxy has a great hangout environment, very casual, very welcoming! Music you can move to, games you can play (even gold school board games or arcade game), food that you don't want to stop eating, and fun cocktails to add to the mix! Not only that, the staff, including the manager Aaron, are super fun and friendly and definitely portray the happy and welcoming vibe! Most reviews I see are for the lobby and bar. Yes, very nice, however I stayed at the hotel for two nights this week as I was in Chicago on business. You can't bring outside food in the lobby - all other Marriott properties I can. Boss and I were going to share an Uno deep dish but had to give him a couple slices to take to his room while I took the rest to my room. No desk in the room to work on the laptop, just a bench and a TV tray. Bed was very comfortable and the rest of the room being small did not bother me. However, windows are not soundproof and I could here muscle cars on La Salle until sometime after 12:30AM and my room was right next to the communal ironing board (yes, the room does not have its own iron). Someone was ironing at 4:00AM and someone else at 11:00PM. Not good for a business stay and too small to bring the wife. This is a one and done for me. read more

This hotel met and exceeded expectations. It focuses on what's important to the modern non-business traveler: cool concept, fun, and very comfortable beds. It's a great thing being able to take a short elevator ride down to the lobby and have a great vibrant lounge scene essentially at your doorstep. Zombie Tacos, the 24 hour taco joint, also happens to be incredible, right down to the chips and guac. I will definitely stay here during my next visit to the Windy City. Hands down the coolest hotel I've ever stayed in. I walked into what was pretty much a party, you check in at the bar and they give you a welcome drink (super strong but so good). They have a TACO BAR, I repeat a TACO BAR and it's open 24/7. The staff is super friendly. The rooms are a bit small but you have everything you will need, they have floor to ceiling windows so you can see all of downtown. I would absolutely stay here again. read more

I have been waiting for this boutique hotel to be fully done, I walked inside and the floor plan is pretty awesome, concrete floors, very breezy with pops of color, great looking bar. I love the fabrics and leather all mixed together. I wanted to try Zombie Taco and I ordered the zombie burrito and it is delicious. Im not usually a fan of hotel lobby bars....but this is totally different. Its been a long time since i have seen a staff so friendly and willing to serve. We were greeted with smiles and hellos from 3 workers before we even made it to the bar. The bartender (Liz) knew her drinks, answered a few questions effortlessly and smiled the whole time. We ended up moving to a table which had a lot of games on it and we spent an hour or two laughing playing adult ad-libs and "did you ever". It might sound goofy, but for date night, it was fun. We stayed in the beautiful corner room. The decor and view were sexy. We got a free cocktail upon arrival! Zombie Taco downstairs was delish and is open 24/7! The bar when you first walk in is lit up in neon pink and stocked with all types of alcohol! Super stylish! The hipster game room had many areas for you to linger and drink with your friends! Decor in the lobby/bar area was perrrfect! Plus it's a pet friendly hotel and they give my baby Gizmo a treat upon arrival. Some down falls to our stay were the corner room was chilly because of the massive windows and it was November in Chicago! This review is for Moxy bar. We were walking around the river north area, looking to kill some time before a reservation we had. We had heard that Moxy had games and such, so we decided to stop in and check it out. We were getting a little hungry so we decided to go with a few of the snacks. We ordered the Adobo BBQ Chicken Nachos and the Cheesy Brisket Taquitos. They were both very good, and actually very filling. For my drinks of choice I opted for the Blackberry bee's knees and prickly pear marg which were both delicious. We played a few games while we were here as well. We played cards against humanity, as well as shuffle board. On our way to the shuffle board table I noticed that they had two jars, one filled with gold fish and the other with skittles. These were great little snacks to have while playing games and a touch that I absolutely loved! (also the sign by the snacks was one of my favorite things about Moxy!) Stayed here on a Saturday night as a last minute trip to the city- we were still able to book a great rate in a close location to nightlife as well as the train station. From check in to check out, we loved our stay. I would compare the room size and style to Marriott's Aloft brand-minimal decor with no closet space in the room but clean and functional with lots of outlets to charge your devices and an awesome rain shower head. The bed was comfortable and I had enough hangers and hooks to hang the necessities. The lobby feels like a living room with couches to lounge, community style tables set up with your favorite board games, and chill Music playing. In the center is a large round bar which also happens to be the check in counter. Andres was very informative, fun and friendly while checking us in and we even received a complimentary welcome cocktail, getting the party started before we even got to our room! They have your typical pantry setup with grab and go eats as well as a walk up taco joint open 24 hours ( which was awesome when we got back to the hotel late night) cocktails will cost you between $9-$12 each but that's on par with the area. Even though they just opened in the spring I felt like the staff were pros and genuinely enjoyed their jobs! One note: I travel frequently for work- if you are looking for a quiet hotel with plenty of workspace, this may not be the best fit for your stay- the lobby didn't have much privacy and the rooms did not have desks or irons. But if you want to unwind at the hotel during a business trip or looking for a fun vacation or getaway hotel, book here! You won't regret it! read more

Just stayed here for a few nights. Great hotel, that offers everything you need at good value. This is not your normal hotel. The bartender will check you in. There are no closets instead you hang your clothes on hangers that attach to pegs, the desk is similar to a TV tray, and the chair folds. There is a bench for storage or seating. Beds were comfy and there is a smart tv capable of streaming various services. Overall, the hotel is good value and in a prime location. Anyone who complains about the things this hotel lacks clearly did not read about what this hotel is about. All of their complaints about the closet, ironing station, seating, etc. were listed online. They just looked for the cheapest Marriott hotel and booked it. Zombie tacos was bomb and I recommend trying to while you're here. Minus one star, because one night the service at the bar was horrible. We were passed over a few times even with empty drink glasses. read more

I sat in the open air lobby while I waited for my friend to arrive with my delicious Moxy cocktail. The decor and atmosphere are fun and inviting. I stayed the weekend of Lollapalooza so the hotel had hydration IV's, an oxygen bar, hair braiding, and massages for free! The room was cozy but it was just what we needed. I recently stayed at the Moxy. I was so impressed with this hotel. This hotel was very friendly and had great amenities. Very hip and super fun, it's perfect for a short trip or for business, it'll totally make you forget your working. I have stayed at lots of hotels around the country and this is by far my favorite! Everything is nice and clean. Service was fantastic from check-in to check-out. There was one thing I do have to mention... they have the best bartender EVER!!! Kathleen was super nice and very friendly. First time in Chicago, alone, in winter. It was nice to come back to the hotel and be welcomed with a big friendly smile and a welcome back. Worst bar service ever!!! Waitresses non existent and bartenders cannot serve instead. (The Bartender was awesome btw ... he at least tried to be accommodating -his hands were tied because he was supposed to let the waitresses serve us - he finally took over).
