Riu Plaza Chicago is worth a stop for the views alone--especially the glass-bottom balcony that juts out from the building. It's a fun spot to snap some epic photos of the city below. As for the food, I tried the chicken skewers and the chicken pizza. The pizza was surprisingly good--crispy crust, flavorful toppings, and definitely something I'd order again. The skewers, on the other hand, were way too salty for my taste. I'd skip those. Come for the skyline views, stay for the pizza, and bring your camera.

Definitely enjoyed my stay at Riu Chicago! I was familiar with this hotel chain in Spain and was pleasantly surprised to find that it opened a location here in Chicago. Since it was recently built, the hotel looks incredibly fresh, clean, and modern. Thankfully, the staff was able to accommodate an early check-in and everyone I met was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. The room itself is a bit on the smaller side, but it had all the necessities including a small sofa, table, desk area and a decent view as well. Loved how large the gym was with cardio, free weights, cold filtered water and towels. The breakfast buffet also boasts an impressive spread of breakfast staples and drinks. And definitely make some time to checkout the rooftop bar which has a great view and the glass lookout floor. Definitely enjoyed my stay and would recommend!

We came here just for the view and drinks at the rooftop ! Unfortunately the kitchen closes early and isn't mentioned prior to when making late night reservations . Its just common sense to have some type of food item for purchase when you a rooftop open late ! My guest were starving! I felt bad for them I had eaten already thankfully! The clear glass walk up if very small and disappointing!

RIU Plaza is a nice addition off the Mag Mile. The lobby is gorgeous and the service was great. We stayed overnight with the kids after enjoying the Nutcracker and the stay went well. We needed two rooms and they were able to accommodate us with rooms across from each other. The beds could improve as the blanket was thin. The water pressure in the shower was low so I didn't actually enjoy the shower. My expectations were low at this price point but I was overall pleased with the room. Included in your stay is breakfast from 6am-10am. The food was good. I especially enjoyed the ham and cheese eggs, Hashbrowns, bacon and orange juice. I would stay again if I needed a quick overnight accommodation.

Visited the RIU rooftop for the 1st time last week for an after hr stop during our Nurses UnWine & Elevate MYXR. We had a reservation set for 7/25 at 10:15p. We were hoping to get drinks & bites however when we arrived we were told the kitchen had closed at 9p. This was indicated nowhere in the reservation confirmation that we received. We frequent a lot of places & generally when booking reservations these things are included, being that we didn't just walk in. I ordered a sidecar & it was terrible. I requested it be made with Hennessey specifically, and it tasted like it was made with a cheap cognac maybe even Courvoisier...there is a distinct difference in the taste. We stayed until the bar closed. When we got down to the lobby & we needed to use the restroom. The concierge at the desk simply said it's being cleaned. Anyone in Chicago knows that you cannot just walk into establishments to use their bathroom. So as a paying customer, I'm expecting to be able to use the restroom where I just spent time & money. Some time passes & I ask for a restroom again & he gave the same response. I asked how long they would be cleaning he then said it's closed for the night until 6a or something. So I asl okay where's another restroom I can use? He asked if I'm a guest insinuating that I could just go to my room to use the bathroom. I said I'm not a guest, but I just left the rooftop, they didn't tell us there wasn't a restroom available downstairs. So he's just staring & I ask him again to direct me to another restroom now he's giving me attitude rolling his neck & eyes. I asked for the manager. I again explained that as a paying customer, I should be able to use a restroom. The manager instructed him to take me to 1..and this is where it got very weird & very uncomfortable. We got to the elevators & he asked if I mind taking the stairs b/c the elevator would be awhile. The stairs took us to the basement, and no one was down there. He pointed me to the bathroom & went to leave. I stopped him & asked how I was supposed to get back up. The elevators didn't need a key to get from the basement up. I'm sure many of you know of the mysterious happening with Kenneka Jenkins in 2017...this interaction that I had with the staff made that event flash before my eyes. It was weird & very triggering. The rude concierge's name was Hugo. This is very disappointing b/c I was looking forward to my 1st RIU experience especially with it being in my hometown. I had plans to visit the rooftop & even return for a staycation. However, this visit has tainted that for me. I would also like to add that no one answers the phone at the lobby desk.

Great location in the heart of Chicago! You can walk to many places or take some type of transportation from this hotel! Check-in was pretty smooth. Had to wait a little for a room but I had flown in earlier. But had a room by 12p! Room was nice, shower a little dirty but overall was nice! Check-out the rooftop bar/restaurant on the 27th floor! Highly recommend the great views! The lobby bar is also very nice with great service! This hotel has a free breakfast included with your stay every morning! Buffet style on the second floor! Was great! I highly recommend this hotel it had a lot of good perks!

This was a great hotel, steps from the magnificent mile. The staff are bilingual (English and Spanish ) and very professional. The hotel is extremely clean and the breakfast buffet is fantastic . They also have a 24 hour gym . Sadly no parking and mid shower pressure . That being said such a great value for money choice .

Though I have not had the pleasure of spending a night in this beautiful hotel, I did enjoy the rooftop! It's one of the newest rooftops in Chicago and aesthetically speaking, it is beautiful. A lot of seating areas with beautiful views and have a great variety of food. They do have a clear sky deck where you can get a little nervous but great for taking pictures. This place was great for dinner, a date night or just lounging with friends for a drink. Customer service was top-notch; people checked on me and gave great suggestions on where to sit, what to eat and were very helpful on different levels. Definitely give this place a try! Food and drinks are amazing but of course a great place to take pictures.

I hope you're well. I'm writing regarding our recent stay at Riu Plaza Chicago to report a serious issue that occurred with our room and the handling of the situation. Shortly before we had to check out, my husband began taking a shower and the water was unable to drain properly. This caused the shower to overflow and flood the entire bathroom floor. Because of this, I was unable to shower at all. We immediately informed the front desk. We were told maintenance could have fixed it, but unfortunately we were on a strict schedule and had to leave right away. What made the situation more disappointing was the lack of support from management. The manager did not come over to speak with us or acknowledge the situation directly. Instead, the front desk representative was sent over with a card instructing us to email. Given the inconvenience, safety concern, and disruption to our stay, we expected more attentive service.

Our first visit to Chicago, and we couldn't have asked for a better location! It was just a short walk to plenty of public transportation. Check-in went smoothly, and our room was spotless. The beds and pillows were super comfy. The laminate in the hallway was a bit noisy for my taste, though. On the bright side, the breakfast buffet was outstanding--everything we tried was delicious! Overall, it's a lovely place, and I would definitely recommend it!

Great location. Wonderful new hotel with very comfortable beds. Ample lighting in room to get ready and put on makeup. Staff members were very pleasant. Happy hour rooftop bar during the week! Breakfast included and it had a good selection. Not sure why people are giving bad reviews.

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

Something as simple as butter and jelly for the toast wasn't provided. Arrived back between meetings. Stood out front and in the lobby for over 15 minutes to try and give my keys to the valet attendant. No one was anywhere to be found. Wouldn't answer calls from the front desk. They finally took my keys then some dude chased me down saying they can't keep them and I have to keep waiting. Oh this made me LATE to my next meeting. $89 a day for poor performance was not worth it. I would 100% suggest parking yourself or a block over at London house. They always have 4+ attendants. Help with luggage and doors etc. oh and it's CHEAPER. We appreciated the room upgrade. The room itself was okay. It wouldn't get below 71 degrees and got upwards of 76 degrees during the day. I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

If you're able to splurge for club access at $200/person, you'll get to experience stunning city views, breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, unlimited cocktails, and evening bites. We were also sent a bottle of wine and snacks to our room. I loved that they have a free spa area where you can use the sauna, heated stone loungers, and cold showers. The pool was stunning and we enjoyed swimming, just wish the hot tub was hotter as it was lukewarm. The room was great as well with a Nespresso machine and relaxing tub. Every time we stepped out of the room we would come back to a nice surprise, the room would be cleaned or they would leave the water and ice. Very attentive customer service here. Overall it was nice to live in luxury for the night, highly recommend if you're looking to splurge and relax! Hope I'll be able to stay again someday.

Our view was stunning and I loved I could see downtown and the river from our room. We booked the cinema suite for a cute movie night and I loved that. They had a cute popcorn station with candy and pop, plus you can order room service. The spa was amazing and the facilities were nice.

While not…read moreluxury, the hotel was very nice and comfortable, and the location was central to our wedding happenings. Everything was great until I checked out and discovered that I had been charged $88 per night for parking. That was quite unexpected. I had been in Chicago just a few months earlier and had paid $55 at the L7 Hotel. So I was shocked that the JW could charge so much. How is their valet parking better than the valet parking at the L7? I realize now that had I been traveling alone, and not with my family, it would have been cheaper to fly to Chicago, than drive the 4.5 hours from Ohio. Apparently the hospitality industry hasn't caught on to the current affordability crisis, or at least Marriott hasn't.

Check in is quick, rooms are fine (and clean), and the executive lounge is nice. I was warned about eating in the bar on the first floor, which I hadn't done in a few years, but it was getting late, and the weather stunk. I saw friends in the bar area, so I took root at the table nearby. Service was fine, and I enjoyed a few of the Amber bee on draft. The menu looked good, and I ended up with a steak fried rice bowl. The steak was gross. It didn't even look like steak that should be served. It was fatty and tasteless. I ate less than 1/2 the rice and 1/3 of the steak. I wasn't starving, so it wasn't a huge deal, but those who told me to avoid the bar area for food were right.

I've been to Miru many times and finally got to try out the hotel for a staycation…read more Pros: -I loved that they had two restaurant options in the hotel. Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.
