Stayed here with friends recently and had a wonderful experience! We got to stay here due to my friends having travel points they wanted to share. The whole stay was seamless from start to finish. We were greeted in the lobby and check in was quick. They have a delicious lemon citrus tea that was so refreshing and light. We only stayed for a night, but the rooms and beds are very comfortable with spacious bathrooms. The toiletries are luxe--definitely a change from a typical hotel. They provide water both upon arrival and in the room, which is much appreciated. read more

I was so excited to stay here during our recent trip to Chicago, and I really wanted to love this hotel. I'll keep this review brief. For a property that markets itself as a luxury hotel, it fell short of my expectations. One of the first things I notice at luxury hotels is the atmosphere the moment you walk in.. including a signature scent that makes the space feel memorable. Here, there was no scent or ambiance that stood out. The front desk staff and bellhops were wonderful: friendly, welcoming, and efficient throughout our stay. The did keep a delicious mocktail at the front desk. The hotel itself is beautiful, but it wasn't as clean as I expected. There were several areas that appeared to have been overlooked by housekeeping for quite some time. Bar Pendry was a highlight, serving excellent mocktails. Unfortunately, Venteux was disappointing. I tried both the coffee and the matcha on multiple occasions, and they were consistently bland. I ended up getting my coffee elsewhere for the rest of the trip. The food was decent and convenient for breaking my fast, but it wasn't particularly memorable. I usually choose boutique hotels when I travel because I enjoy their unique character and elevated experience. This property didn't deliver that boutique feel for me. Overall, my stay felt more like what I would expect from a standard chain hotel than a luxury boutique property, which was disappointing given my expectations. read more

Staying here was like staying in the middle of the Fast and the Furious movie at night, no joke. Cars racing down the street like crazy. You would think 20 floors up you can't hear but you'd be wrong - hear loud and clear through the ear plugs and over the white noise machine. Upsetting the hotel did not proactively warn about it. Service is fine aside from the noise gotcha. But boy is that a big gotcha. Impressed by the folks who didn't find the noise that bad - I LIVE in midtown Manhattan as loud as it gets and the noise at this hotel was magnitudes worse. read more

The hotel is located is a great spot - near the waterfront on one side and millennial park on the other side. We were also able to get a view of the water from our suite. The suites were a great size with two full baths and a living and bedroom space and foyer. On our 2nd night we ran into an unusual situation that required us to switch to a different suite. Jalisa the manager was super accommodating and understanding. She kept it up beat and gave us options to choose from and well as comp'ed our last night. All the staff was great. Down side - it's in a really loud area and the windows are not sound proof so if you're a light sleeper I would not recommend this hotel. Also our Lyft/uber kept getting lost because Google Maps was sending them underground - perhaps this is a Chicago issue rather than a Pendry issue. read more

We stayed at this property over the weekend. Unfortunately, our arrival didn't get off to the best start. The hotel doesn't have a dedicated valet drop-off area, which can cause congestion on the street during busy hours. That turned out to be a blessing in disguise because there's a public parking garage within walking distance. It was much more affordable than using the hotel's valet service, so we ended up saving some money. When we checked in, there was a line at the front desk, but the staff worked efficiently, so the wait wasn't long before we were on our way to our room. My first impression of the room was that it was clean, modern, and well maintained. My wife laughed at me for saying this, but I honestly think the pillows were some of the most comfortable I've ever slept on in a hotel. The amenities are fairly standard. There's no pool, but the hotel makes up for it with an excellent restaurant and a great rooftop bar. Overall, I think this is a solid 4 star hotel that offers a great experience at an affordable price. I would definitely consider staying here again. read more

My friend and I booked two nights at the Pendry Chicago while traveling to Chicago for the recent March Madness men's basketball games (Sweet 16 & Elite 8). My friend had stayed at this hotel before with family and was excited to go back. We enjoyed the hotel's amenities, restaurants, room and history along with the proximity to so much in the city. The Pendry Chicago on Michigan Avenue is housed in the former Carbide & Carbon building and is still home to the historic lobby, with gold Art Deco features original to the 1929 building. The hotel's stylish design embraces its rich heritage as well as the future. While we were hoping for an upgrade included in our package through Fine Hotel & Resorts, there was nothing available with multiple beds. We received some chocolates as a welcome amenity. We had two tasty breakfasts on property in the Venteux restaurant and also through room service, a dinner in Venteux, and drinks and a dinner on two occasions at the Bar Pendry. All were delightful experiences, and I wrote separate Yelp reviews on the food and service for each of these restaurants. We drove offsite and went to one of the many nearby restaurants for lunch on our second day there. We booked a Fine Hotels + Resorts offer that included early and late checkout, room upgrade when available, daily $60 breakfast credit, $100 credit which we used for a nice dinner, and welcome amenity. There is an approximately $42 per day destination fee, which includes a non-alcoholic welcome cocktail (at check-in), high speed WiFi, in-room coffee and boxed bottled water, morning lobby coffee cart, access to fitness center RunGo app, shoeshine service, children's plush toy amenity, complimentary printing up to 10 pages, complimentary local calls, nightly turndown service, and complimentary transportation within a 2 mile radius. We took advantage of the complimentary transportation through their shuttle several times over the 48 hours. We had a delightful visit and would certainly recommend this unique experience to anyone else looking for a similar experience! read more

We were in town for my nieces wedding and this was the hotel that she suggested that everyone stay at. The hotel was really cute and the location is absolutely perfect! However, be advised that they do not have a restaurant. There is a French restaurant that is next-door that you can go to, but they don't have a restaurant that is associated with the hotel. They do have 24 hour room service but it'll cost you! The rooftop was just OK but you have to have a reservation to sit at a table. To me if I'm a guest at the hotel, I should be able to get a table and not have to stand in the sun and have a cocktail! They do have indoor seating for the rooftop, but it's not quite the same. The service was very good though so we did enjoy that. The room is clean but small and the views were basically facing other buildings. We did have a view of Michigan Avenue on the 15th floor, but again I would've loved to have had a view of the lake. That may not be possible with this hotel, but the location was really really good. It's within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and just about a block or two north of millennial Park. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Oh yeah, you also get a complementary gift certificate for half dozen oysters at the French restaurant that is next-door to the hotel. That was a nice touch because the oysters were fabulous. Lastly, the drinks were $22 apiece and that was a little high! I walked around the corner to the London house and have the same drink for $16. read more

The Pendry Chicago has one of the best locations in the city! With Portillo's opening right across the street soon, it's a great spot to stay for a weekend getaway. The beautifully remodeled historic building gives the hotel a unique, upscale feel while still being in the middle of everything. The rooms are on the smaller side (pretty standard for a city hotel), but they're perfectly sufficient. The beds are super comfortable, the space is well-designed, shower has great pressure, and the staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The biggest downside is definitely the parking cost ($85 is a steep price!) The good news is that it covers 24 hours, so you can extend your parking beyond your actual hotel stay if your plans allow. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the Pendry for anyone looking for a stylish stay with an unbeatable downtown location! read more

I decided to try something a little different and stay downtown this year for Christmas. Checking in on December 24 and checking out on December 26th I had an excellent stay. Upon arrival the doorman was very welcoming and led me inside to a beautifully decorated lobby. The gingerbread theme and large Christmas trees really enhanced the "tis' the season" vibe. This location is amazing being right in the middle and nearby to everything. Check in was easy and Devonte was so kind and helpful. I had a small issue with my original room assignment but he was quick to get the issue resolved and stayed professional during my entire stay by addressing me by my last name and always speaking when I passed by. The welcome drink (some kind of citrus tea) in the lobby was delicious and I probably over indulged during my stay getting a cup every time I passed by. With a password you could take that tea over to the bar and add a complimentary shot of your preferred alcohol. I added casamigos because I'm a tequila girl. My room was amazing. It felt like I was in a mini apartment on the 19th floor. There was so much natural light and I had the best views of Michigan Ave as well as a small glimpse of the lake. I will admit that it does get a little loud with street noise and emergency vehicles constantly passing by but that's city living for you and it didn't bother me too much. The shower was nice and the bed was so so comfy. I took advantage of both the on-site connected restaurant for breakfast each day as well as the hotel bar for late night snacks and drinks. The hotel chicken tenders and fries made for quite the fulfilling snack but unfortunately the grilled cheese was a hard pass. The connected restaurant was just ok. Not a fan of their matcha lattes or breakfast offerings but I had credits to use so it worked out. If you sit in the cafe part there is great people watching over by the window. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and will be adding the Pendry to my list of hotels to stay when I am visiting downtown. Random Tips: 1. Use spothero to park in the garage across the street for about $40-$50 a night. Still expensive but less than valet. 2. This is a pet friendly hotel but there is no nearby relief area. 3. The hotel is backed up to apartments and office buildings so close the blinds before you strip down and/or shower. read more

Beautiful repurposed historical building with a striking art deco lobby . Pet friendly but they don't have a designated pet area . River walk is only a block away though . The doormen / doorwomen were the nicest and most helpful people I've met . Reception was helpful and they serve the best lemonade drink with an option to spike it at the bar. The room was beautiful and comfy . We did room service and the food was okay but came hot and beautifully served . The valet is $80 per night which is expensive but I guess that's the price you pay for convenience and location . Overall this was a great experience. Loved staying at the Pendry Chicago! The location is unbeatable and makes walking to a lot of things super doable. The building itself is beautiful, and love the history and inspiration behind the architecture. The room we had was spacious and very clean. It had a steamer rather than an iron which I absolutely love. They staff was also so incredibly welcoming and friendly. The only issue we had was having a bit of difficulty catching an elevator during busier times of day, which is standard I think is large busy hotels. I made three reservations for a wedding. One for me, one for each of my adult children. I get three confirmation codes when I reserve. I get three emails with those confirmation codes. The week of the wedding the pendry calls and emails me to confirm three reservations. I even have email as backup. When I show up guess what only one room is available! When I show them the emails they say it's a mistake and then try and find me rooms. It's a total cluster. The front desk staff is useless. Had to get a manager. Why have reservations if you don't retain them. Seinfeld was right. You can take the reservation but you can't hold the reservation. If I could negative stars I would. read more

As you know, The Doctor and I do quite a few staycations in Chicago. The Pendry was the latest on the list and it did not disappoint at all. This was by far one of the most enjoyable staycations we have experience and The Pendry will be at the top of our list to stay at. Upon our arrival, our Uber driver had to park across the street from the hotel due to the fact that two very large tour buses were parked out front. The Doctor and I didn't think too much about it as we figured we would just go to the light and cross the street. However as soon as our bags left the vehicle and hit the ground, there was a gentleman with dreadlocks crossing the street to get our bags, stopping traffic to make sure we made it across safely. The reason I am mentioning the dreadlocks is because we did not get his name, but he was so wonderful the entire weekend we interacted with him. He got our bags on a luggage rack, got us water and took The Doctor up to the reception area. If I had I had to point out a con, it would be that our room was not ready when we got there. That said, I was not mad about it as it was about 15 mins later when everything was ready. The reason I was not upset was because the young woman behind the desk stated that our room was cleaned, but it was going through a final "inspection" before it could be released. I completely appreciated hearing that, and while we waited there was this lovely lemony drink you could pour and take to the the bar to have a shot put into it if you said the secret password, which was "Bob" for that day. The Captain of the Bell-people (Perry) took us to our room, giving us a breakdown of the different restaurants (in and outside of the hotel) that we could dine at. Once we got to the room, he pointed out all of the amenities in the room and explained that we could use the fridge (which was stocked with drinks and some high end adult beverages). Perry pointed out that the bottle water was complimentary would be replaced on a daily basis, which is very nice as a lot of hotels charge for bottled water now. He even told us what his schedule would be for the weekend in case we needed to reach him personally. The suite itself was very spacious, with two separate bathrooms, a TV in the main living space as well as the bedroom. They had Netflix as well as free HBO Max, as well as other streaming platforms for music, etc. The wet bar area on top has a very nice selection of hard liquors, snacks, complimentary coffees, as well as a charger. What I really loved about our suite was the fact that there was off white carpet everywhere (except the bathroom) and it was spotless. I am use to seeing some wear and tear at hotels. We treat spaces as if they are ours, but realize others might not, so I was very surprised not to see any stains on the furniture or carpet. The furniture was in good condition, the leather chairs/ottomans showed no signs of tears. The big selling point for me was the fact that we got a text every day asking what time housekeeping should stop by our room to clean it. We have never experienced that before and it was nice because usually we don't do housekeeping as it we never know when they are coming, so this was amazing. And when I say they clean, they clean! And put everything in its proper place. Some of the items on the bar were moved around because we were looking at them, and just put them back. The housekeeping staff not only put everything back the way it was originally placed, they also arranged the items we each had on the counters in our bathroom to a showroom level...crazy and lovely. Keep in mind if you are looking for a "quiet" hotel, this is not it. While we had no complaints about folks in the rooms next to us, this hotel is in a heavy traffic area in Chicago and on the river. So there will street sounds and at night the sounds of people racing their Speed Racer cars and bikes, which I do not mind, All in all, the staff were all lovely and eager to help and quite pleasant to speak to. This was one of the first times we have done room service and the gentleman who brought up our food was great, placing our food on the table, then asking us if it was ok if he removed the covers. I ordered a Wagyu burger, but forgot to ask for mustard, The Doctor called room service and the gentleman who had brought up our food was back up in flash with a small jar of mustard. The burger was really good BTW as were the lemon pepper wings and The chicken noodle soup The Doctor got. All in all, this was a first rate staycation for us and we had so much fun staying at The Pendry. We are planning on going back in November if we can get in, and if not, we will wait. read more

Booked a staycation through Amex fine resorts. I liked that I could text the front desk so all my needs were easily met. Great location and there is $17 spothero parking close. We got a tower king and the room is a pretty standard size. I wish there was a bathtub but the shower water pressure is nice. We are very dissatisfied in the lack of communication and service from the Pendry Chicago. I booked my reservation in January for a stay in July for a wedding. Aside from the initial reservation confirmation, I received absolutely no correspondence or communication about my stay (e.g. the typical we look forward to your stay, etc.), not even when I called to modify the reservation to one night in May which I guess should have been my clue that they had not modified my reservation as I had requested. When I called to ask if my room was available for early check-in on that Saturday, I was informed that their system reflected that my reservation was for Friday and Saturday, that I was deemed a no show Friday night and charged one night, on top of having the remainder of the reservation cancelled for Saturday night (the only night I needed the room). And again I received no communication from the hotel (not inquiring whether we were still coming, nor when the room was canceled, or when my credit card was charged) and would not have known except that I called before I showed up. Other wedding guests experienced issues as well. I called hotel management and their customer service is lacking at best, and there was no resolve. For a hotel that frames itself as a luxury brand, it falls well short of this and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

I recently enjoyed a great birthday winter weekend at The Pendry hotel. Knowing the weather in February we wanted an excellent location with short walkable attractions. We also wanted to ability to "stay in" and feel transported. The Pendry provided all this in droves. Muriel checked us in and gave us the royal birthday treatment. Sweet treats, corner upgrade, and early check in set the tone for a great stay. Staff was notably helpful and friendly. Dolapo the doorman and Nike the private driver truly stood apart as excellence in action. The room service breakfast was a nice option, but we recommend going down to the cafe instead. The ambiance and delicious food and drinks make for a great start to the day. The Venteux Brasserie had good not great food with some struggles in service. But ambiance and happy hour were stellar. The steak frites had tough meat, but the filet and fruit de mer were very good. Negroni on point. Rooftop and Bar Pendry also provided cozy relaxation options. We stayed at the Pendry Chicago for a week. The one time housekeeping cleaned our room they did a poor job, including not changing dirty glasses, removing and not replacing a bath mat, not refreshing tissues and toilet paper, not fully cleaning the toilet, and putting a card that had been on the floor next to the toilet on a pile of fresh towels. The next day we put a privacy sign on our door and left for the day. When we returned, the sign was on the inside of our door, clearly showing someone had entered the room without our consent. When we brought this up to management, we got the runaround and claims that security scan reports of our door showed only our entries. When I made clear that I had documentation of there being no housekeeping that day through texts with the hotel and receipts showing our absence for the full day and there was no longer any plausible deniability to be had, the security team admitted that a housekeeper had entered the room despite the privacy sign on the door. Later, they spoke to the employee, and told me their internal investigation showed an accidental entry, which makes no sense given the privacy sign on the outside of the door, the hanging of the sign on the inside of the door after entry, and the room not otherwise being touched. The only thing that makes sense is someone cased our room and decided there was nothing worth stealing, then hung the sign inside after it fell off the door as they exited. Also, the windows are thin and even earplugs don't help with the street racing noise and sirens outside. We were originally put in a room with less noise, but it was across the street from an office building so close to the windows we could see the workers' faces clearly. The hotel did not offer us our 20% food and beverage credit, and didn't offer a room upgrade that I didn't know we were entitled to until I wrote my Expedia review. Don't recommend staying here. read more

I'd been wanting to check out Pendry hotels and was thrilled to finally be able to do so in Chicago. I've been to Pendry bars before, which I love, so I knew I would like the hotel. And I did. All of the staff was friendly and welcoming, especially the doormen, which I appreciate. Except for whoever stole my clothes from my room, which I did not appreciate. It was fairly jarring to come back from exploring the city to find that things had been stolen. I'm glad I travel with a door jammer/alarm, which I use, because who knows what could have happened. Aside from the in-room theft, I had a great time here. The rooms are big, with comfy beds and a wonderful bathroom. The shower is nice, albeit poorly designed (you need to enter from the side with the showerhead if you leave the bathroom door open). Carpeting needs to be redone. I loved the minibar options, even though I did not partake. Aside from the bathroom vent, everything was extremely clean. Other reviewers mention the noise, which is true during the day, but I was on a low floor and at night, it didn't bother me. The lobby is well-appointed, as is the bar area. Obviously, I wouldn't stay here again, which is too bad, since it is a nice hotel. read more

Hannah, even got me checked in early after long travels . Later, to my surprise Hannah sent a gift to my room. It reset, my bad day & the next day I was bk to normal & ready to spend money. Chicago is a clean & beautiful city. I'd recommend the Pendry, in a heartbeat bc the staff makes taking care of its customers a breeze. Actually, other hotels can take notes from Pendry. Unfortunately, the Cons: *. Ladies Restrooms, near bar lounge stall latches don't lock, so anyone can push door open on u. *. In rooms on my line ending in ..02 the closet door needs a Magnet to close door properly bc it stays ajar, a bit annoying. *. Closet mirrors need screw covers bc it snagged my new sweater. I came in for The St. Patrick's Day weekend so hotel was busy non-stop. The tenacity of the staff was top tier. I strongly, recommend this hotel. I'll ask Yelp to put Pendry in high regards. I will say the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, the staff was very friendly and kind. There was a bar attached to the hotel and a rooftop bar which I didn't get a chance to go to. There js also a cute cafe and restaurant attached as well. The first night you arrive they give you a complimentary beverage which was a yummy jasmine green tea mixture and they allow you to go to the bar to spike it with a secret password which I thought was very cute and fun! I had a chance to go to the bar and the cafe - both had amazing drinks and the breakfast food at the cafe was delicious. There was room service which I was excited about but I was shocked to see there was a $7 delivery fee for the room service. The hotel in itself was already very expensive so I did not expect I would have to pay for room service. When I received my checkout bill I was also charged for amenities - which I did not even use not knew about- I think that should not be an additional charge but just part of the price you are paying for the room. I ordered an avocado toast, and 2 espressos and with room service and tip that was $50. To me that is outrageous Overall I loved the atmosphere and the kind staff and the attached bar and restaurant options, but I will say I was surprised to be charged so much upon leaving considering how pricey everything already is inside the hotel. read more

The rooms are spacious, bed was comfortable, and a full gym in the basement. They also have great room service with delicious food. A full breakfast and dinner options for you to choose from. Can't believe this hotel is part of fine hotels and resorts... it's a failed attempt at luxury. As you check you'll be graciously showered by condensate from A/C. The rooms generally small, well appointed but poorly lit. The lobby is nice well thought out, I would say from a design perspective the common areas are tasteful and the complimentary coffee is just what you need in the morning. My room didn't have a desk and the sound proofing was borderline terrible. The service was uninspiring but the location is central. Would stay again? Perhaps. This time as my first experience at a Pendry and it feels like a place I'd rather grab drinks at than spend the night. The amenity fee also feels predatory because it doesn't get you anything. read more

We stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas and had a really nice time. The hotel is in a lovely and historic building and the renovation has been done to a very high level. The location is also perfect for exploring Chicago! We arrived at 4pm and our room was ready. As we had booked through Amex FHR we got a number of benefits, including an upgrade (which was honored). We ended up being upgraded to a Tower Room, which was a great size and perfect for a 4 night stay. The room was well equipped (there was a robe which I LOVE in a hotel) and the shower was great. The thing I would note though is that the AC was not working (I understand this is turned off for the winter) so if you like sleeping in a cold room, which we do, you are going to be out of luck in the winter months. We had a credit of $60 for breakfast everyday and we took advantage of this. There is a wide selection available at the on-site restaurant and the service is quick, although this does get busy and sometimes there may be a wait for the table. All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Pendry and would be happy to return in the future. read more

Another flawless stay at Pendry Chicago. This was our second time staying at the Pendry and once again, it exceeded expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel completely taken care of. The gentlemen at the door are next level helpful--genuinely some of the best I've encountered at any hotel. They go out of their way to make things easy and always seem one step ahead of what you might need. Our suite was spacious, spotless, and so comfortable. The bathrooms were especially lovely--clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. Everything felt calm and luxurious. A huge shoutout to Michael and Sierra, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and warm. Their kindness and attentiveness truly stood out. I also have to mention the incredible room service team, who kindly brought up warm milk for our toddler and even delivered a microwave to make things easier for us. Their patience and genuine thoughtfulness meant so much to us as parents traveling with a little one. We've now stayed at the Pendry twice, and it's safe to say it's become our go-to hotel in Chicago. Can't wait to return. read more

This is a hip and cool downtown chicago hotel. The location is great, right between State Street and Millennium Park areas and Michigan Ave shopping. The lobby has a great hotel bar with awesome drinks. This is an old building, so the rooms aren't super spacious, but they are nice. Being an old building, the windows are smaller and were chilly when we were there. But overall, everything was wonderful! Also, if you are staying in the city, there is always street noise. I recently stayed at the Pendry Chicago and had a mixed experience. The hotel itself was very clean, and the location is excellent--right in the heart of downtown and convenient to everything we wanted to do in Chicago. The building is beautiful and the rooms were well maintained. However, for the price we paid, the service was very disappointing. When booking, the hotel advertised Cadillac service, but this was never offered or mentioned during our stay. The air conditioning in the room barely worked, which made it uncomfortable at times. On the night before checkout, our room keys stopped working around 8 p.m., which was frustrating to deal with late in the evening. Additionally, when we booked the room we were told it would have a walk-in shower, but the room we received only had a tub. The phone in the room was also broken, so we couldn't call the front desk to request basic things like additional water. To make matters worse, the final price charged ended up being higher than what was listed on the invoice we received, which was unexpected. Overall, while the hotel is clean and in a great location, the level of service and several operational issues did not match the premium price point. For what we paid, I expected a much smoother and more attentive experience. read more

Never again. This hotel is NOISY. If you stay here, insist on a room away from the street. The corner rooms are the worst. We actually had to call the police at 2AM due to the motorcycles racing outside. They came, but the street noise was still too much. The hotel manager in the morning was totally indifferent towards us. Like he has disdain for the guests. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn't offer the service level that their price point would suggest. When we checked in there was no help with the luggage, the room key wasn't set up properly (had to leave the luggage in the hallway to run back down), then when we asked to change rooms due to the noise there was poor communication and bad attitude from the hotel. We book with American Express Platinum and have never been met with such poor hospitality at one of the "Fine hotels and resorts." Will never stay here again. Last trip we stayed at the Langham and would recommend that hotel 100% over the Pendry. read more

The week before Xmas, came here for a work meeting and what a lovely experience it was. Right when you walk in, everyone is so kind and accommodating - genuinely. Food was fantastic, and no matter what came up, the staff was game to help figure out what was possible. Great experience! read more

Stayed at The Pendry Chicago for three nights and have zero complaints! The rooms were spacious, the beds super comfortable, the lighting in the bathroom marvelous, and the customer service impeccable. The late night room service hamburger hit the spot and the morning coffee was delicious, too! From the moment I checked in to the time I checked out and got my luggage from the bellman, my stay was five star worthy. I loved the architecture, the history, and the vibes. The only thing I didn't love was the elevators - I had to wait much longer than anticipated quite a few times. Nonetheless, I highly recommend the Pendry Chicago! read more

I stayed there October 31st to November 1st of 2025. The rooms were very nice, but the service was well below what I would expect from premium hotel. On top of that they added a so called "Destination Charge" to my bill. $41/night over and above the quoted room rate. When I stayed at a hotel near the Madrid airport recently, I was quoted a room rate of €260 per night. When I got my final bill I was charged €260 per night. My quoted room rate for the Pendry was $260 per night. When I received my final bill I ended up paying $350 per night. That included all the local and state taxes along with the "Destination Charge". They knew these fees up front they should have quoted it. This is a sleazy way to run a business. read more

If you're a history buff and love restored architecture that has been restored to perfection, this is a gorgeous building to satisfy your senses. The rooms were comfortable and had all the accoutraments that you would expect for an upscale hotel. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows, the AC worked well, in-room refrigerators and coffee makers, and a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. I did, however, experience 2 annoying issues. It was extremely loud due to the proximity of the building. This, unfortunately, is not something they can control but be prepared to bring ear plugs so you can black out the street noise. The second is availability of the elevators. They are SO SLOW. I had to build in 15 minutes in my schedule just for taking the elevator. This was a major complaint among all my business colleagues who faced the same challenges regardless of what floor your room was on - there are different elevator banks for different floors. They also don't have service elevators, so meal and housekeeping carts can fill one whole elevator, and you have to wait for another. read more

This is a beautiful hotel. The lobby has a complimentary tea drink that you can spike for free at the bar (with a code word), but I wasn't told that at checkin and learned about it later from a coworker. My room was suite and it was huge! It had a separate living area with pull out couch and two full bathrooms. They made up the sofa bed for me when I called to request it. The valets were helpful, especially one that worked during the evening. read more

The Rooms: need more light and more mirrors. They do have full length mirrors inside the closet that lights up, they're ok. Beautiful CLEAN carpet. Incredible hotel in the heart of Chicago's most touristy area! I booked a little staycation for the Thanksgiving weekend and really enjoyed my quick stay. It hit some of the most important parts of comfort for me: clean room, clean carpets, strong water pressure with HOT water, mini fridge, and the most comfortable bed (my husband seriously contemplated buying their bedding set)! The staff checked in on me twice with little snacks- a trio of chocolates not long after checkin, and two mini macarons in the evening. My requests for dental kits were quickly completed, and room service was delivered within 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we had some issues with the TV. The remote lagged so horribly and the TV was just overall a bit small. Pretty disappointed there wasn't a way to cast content from my own device. Tried logging into Netflix and it was unusable just from how slow everything was. Room service was absurdly expensive, which I guess is to be expected. read more

I stayed at the Pendry for a two night staycation in December to celebrate graduating from grad school with my boyfriend. It was his idea, and we used our Amex perks since this hotel is part of their Fine Hotels and Resorts collection (if you have access to this and are considering booking take a look at the Amex perks, it's super worth it). We had an incredible experience from start to finish. Before the stay, the concierge was so lovely and gave us fantastic ideas and recommendations, and helped us with a reservation at the winter garden rooftop (which is 500% cute and worth every penny). We had breakfast at their restaurant both days and it was pretty good. Hated the chicken sandwich, loved everything else especially the breakfast potatoes. Our room was very spacious, a single king bed, and the bathroom was bigger than most hotel bathrooms which was nice. The toiletries were all really nice, and the room was pristine across the board. I really enjoyed the location for a staycation. We easily walked to the christkindl market and through grant/millenium parks. We took the train to the Steppenwolf for a fantastic show, and had easy access to restaurants. I loved the style and comfort of this hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thanks Pendry staff for making it an amazing stay! One tiny note: all hotels at this point should be offering a digital tipping option for housekeeping, valet, etc. Pendry will keep their staff happy and avoid inconveniencing guests by adding an easy option for this. read more
