It's been years since I left a review but I just have to say today's meal was a complete waste of $22.. ordered the orange chicken dinner and an order of shrimp toast... the orange chicken was just ok.. but the chicken fried rice that came with the dinner had no flavor whatsoever.. I had to add sweet and sour sauce just so it can have some sort of flavor... the shrimp toast was disgusting almost inedible.. never had shrimp toast like this.. I've had shrimp toast from Wings in Cicero and New Star in Elmwood Park... that's flavor... this was some mystery minced shrimp inside a breading that had no flavor.. In this era of mega chain restaurants, it's difficult to find a simple mom + pop shop that doesn't have a "Gratuity" line added on to your carryout order check. Moy Yuen in Countryside IL is of a dying breed. Good food and large portions at very reasonable prices. Her Kung Pow chicken w/ white rice had large chunks of white meat chicken, veggies and just the right amount of heat. The veggies included fresh zucchini. Nice twist. My beef + mushrooms w/ fried rice had a good portion of tender meat. Egg rolls were included in our beef & chicken lunches as were fortunate cookies and sauce packets. Best BBQ pork fried rice and I'm an expert people! lol BBQ pork fried rice has always been my favorite so I order it everywhere I try. This one was hands down the best I've ever had and I'm old so that speaks volumes. Ha! I will drive out of my way for this place because I can tell they have more "bests" to offer. Being a family owned business sometimes you need to bring your kids with you to work. Love this place. I'm from NY and struggled to find a Chinese Food restaurant to love when I moved to the area. Then I found Moy Yuen. They're really nice when you call, very fast to cook the food, and of course the food is awesome. Sometimes they pack the food so much they have to staple the carton closed. For starters, I'm very picky when it comes to Chinese food, so trying new places makes me hesitant. I've had Moy Yeun a few times and every time they have came through with great Chinese food. The BBQ pork fried rice is probably my favorite. All of there portions are huge (with exception of Honey walnut shrimp, they're skimpy on That dish) I'm not a fan of there white rice though I prefer sticky rice or Jasmine rice. Overall great takeout place and will frequent often when I need my Chinese fix. read more

We ordered lunch specials at least once for the last three weeks. We even craved it on Monday. Today, we had the Szechuan chicken extra spicy (my favorite) and my husband got the orange chicken. The Szechuan chicken had the perfect spice and also a load of fried rice. My husband's order of orange chicken was full of meat and loaded with the fried rice. We basically get the same thing every time. You can't go wrong with their lunch specials. The egg rolls are amazing and filled. You can tell they are freshly made and fried. The rice is kind of on the bland side don't like their egg rolls and their lunch specials they're okay they seem to be all the same thing twisted and turned all together one way or another you either get green and meat or chicken and pecans and blah blah blah it's all the same, just a lot of carbohydrates it's just fillers it just fills you up, I don't know what they're cooking with but I won't order there again I'm going to be a little more strategic next time. I've been eatling lunch here at least once a week for a decade. I haven't had a bad meal yet. Mostly I get the lunch specials, which feed me two days running. One thing I definitely appreciate is the ability to order spicy versions of things which normally aren't. My favorite lunch is probably Beef Almond Ding "Make it spicy!", Dinner would be Curry Chicken or BBQ Pork Egg Foo Yung. It's all good. read more

I ordered from here and was quoted a 50-60 min wait time for delivery. I was pleasantly surprised that this was at my door in only 30 minutes and everything was super hot! I ordered the combo appetizer tray, a small chicken fried rice and a small combination lo mein. The combination tray was so hot it burned holes out in certain parts of its Styrofoam containers... the fact that I still ate the food might not have been my wisest health food choice... the app contained 2 egg rolls, 2 crab Rangoon, 2 fried shrimp and 2 teriyaki beef sticks. The egg rolls were a medium size, kind of mushy inside, but crisp on the outside. There wasn't much of difference in flavor between the pork and other inners of the roll, but still had good flavor overall. The crab Rangoon was filled up w a lot of cream cheese, and had that typical Rangoon flavor. The teriyaki beef sticks had good flavor but were pretty chewy/dry. By the end of this, I was full and am only just trying the fried rice and lo mein today. The two other dishes ordered came in really large portions for being a "small" size! My guy had a portion of the rice and lo mein, I'm having a serving now as well and I probably have 1.5-2 more servings left! The flavors are good and I like that the chicken chunks are large and not dry. the beef and shrimp are ample in the lo mein. It's a really good meal! **this stuff is definitely super high in sodium! I woke up significantly puffy this morning from my eatings last night, but it won't keep me from eating more! read more

Stopped in for the lunch special the other day. The place was busy with mostly carry out business. The counter guy was upbeat and engaging despite his thick accent, he was chatting up customers in person and over the phones. Briefly chatting with him I came to know that he's the daily host. He recognized many walk in's and that's an always good sign. Most likely repeat regulars. I got a General Tso's chicken special which comes with chicken fried rice and a chicken egg roll. I requested they make the rice spicy and they graciously accommodated. Also ordered some crab Rangoon based on reviews. The appetizers were tasty, more so the chicken egg roll which you could taste its freshness. The Crab Rangoon's were stuffed with a large amount of a bland cream cheese and imitation crab. If you love cream cheese, you'll dig these. It was a bit too cheesy for me. With a mixture of sweet and sour sauce and chili sauce, is how I like to enjoy them best. Now onto the lunch special. The rice tasted day old, rice bits were a bit hard but they did as they said they would and spiced it up with their chili sauce. The General Tso's was semi good. It's the kind that they (might) flash fry battered chicken pieces and then throw into sauce. Some pieces were freshly made and some pieces were so damn chewy, which usually hints to being older stuff or fatty pieces. Being that this is a strip mall, Chinese, carry out kind of place I had low expectations. Little did I know at the time that later this day I would be two for two with more day old food in my belly. Ugh the pain, pedal to carpet all the way back to Chicago. I mentioned that it's carry out but they also offer two tables which seat four, decent accommodations. If it's a first time for you also, maybe skip the lunch special. Seems most of these reviews are for items they ordered off the regular menu. I would bet that is the most fresh. I like that they offer a shrimp fried rice using larger shrimp like that of the tiger prawn variety. If back in the area again, I might stop in and order off the regular menu. Maybe. Shoulda woulda coulda. I could have gone to Cida or Thipi Thai like Paul Z. mentioned in his review, both solid Thai places tested and true. read more

Our go to take out Chinese closed (owners retired) so we searched for a good replacement, and found it with Moy Yuen! So far only two dishes were tried: pork kow & garlic chicken. Both really flavorful and I asked them to add some veggies to my garlic chicken and they accommodated very nicely, it was so good! We will be back and trying more! read more

Wow this place is not good. This is by far and away the worst review I have written to date. Ordered delivery last night: (10/22/14 08:22pm) Sweet and sour chicken Shrimp in lobster sauce 2 egg rolls Sweet and sour chicken was way over cooked, dried out, and mostly breading. The fry oil definitely needs to be changed out. After further investigation you could see the dirty fry residue all over the chicken. The sauce and white rice were ok. Shrimp was swimming in a giant box of hot and sour soup not lobster sauce. Lobster sauce is white and creamy with peas. I have no idea what happened with this order but someone sh*t the bed. Egg rolls were over cooked in the same dirty oil the sweet and sour chicken was prepared in. My friend and I took a couple bites and then just tossed the rest in the garbage for fear of getting sick. It should be mentioned that we did not call the restaurant back to complain we just figured it wouldn't be worth trying to fight through the language barrier then wait another hour for new food. Overall this place is a culinary abortion with a food born illness outbreak on the horizon. Needless to say I do not recommend this place nor will I ever order from here again. read more

I was fairly impressed with this place. As this was my first time having their food I had no expectations, and I also had no disappointments. The delivery time was a little slower than the average Chinese place. I think we waited 25 minutes for our food. Everything was delicious. The crab rangoons were big and full of fluffy crab stuff. The fried shrimp had big mini shrimps, not those tiny barely-there ones. The sweet and sour sauce was like the real stuff too, and not that red junk that turns into jello in the fridge.
