We have missed out on some of the best Chinese foods in a long while. Our last Chinese restaurant closed due to covid-45, in honor of the guy that got it for USA. We had ordered 4 full meals from them and some pot stickers too. Everything was better than expected, after speaking with the staff during ordering. It was my birthday, and I wanted something different, as I make Chinese food at home. I am glad we picked this place, I mean it looks like a hole in the wall place, they have two tables and three chairs. We ordered for pick up and 30 minutes was a good guess for time. My wife picked up the order and the staff I spoke with added some goodies for my birthday gift. The foods were all prepared to perfection and not salty, the Mongolian beef was out of this world good and good spicy style. The other dishes were Beef w/broccoli, chicken w/peapods and chicken chop suey, and all were awesome. Needless to state, we will be returning for more amazing Chinese foods, I just my birthday was more often. Been here 3 times in last month and a half or so, definitely noticed that it's under new management and new chef as well. The food is different but in a good way. IMO it's better quality Chinese food. Unlike the previous owners, they use fresh ingredients instead of canned (I.e., water chestnuts, mushrooms, baby corn etc.) stuff, which I appreciate. Based on the quality of the food, packaging (like the fact they put the containers in a plastic bag in case of leakage or spillage, is nice touch) and inflation is a fair justification of the increase in price, so I can live with that. Don't get me wrong, the original Moy got inn was good, but if you want good quality and tasty Chinese food then you've got to try this place out. I had their fried rice. ( I judge Chinese food, based on their fried rice and this was tasty, kept me coming back) Mongolian chicken (my favorite!) Crab Rangoon (decent) Hot and sour soup (nice and fresh, didn't look or taste like it's been sitting in the warmer for hours or days, just enough salt, spicy , and sourness to the soup) The Mongolian chicken (upgraded to fried rice) lunch special is amazing. They put fresh veggies in the fried rice unlike other places where they use frozen peas and carrots. Planning to try other dishes next time. The staff/owner is friendly and nice. Essentially carry-out or delivery. they have 2 tables, maybe 3 but not the atmosphere to eat-in. Food is excellent. I try to get there every 2 weeks or so. Once they gave me the wrong meal (I ordered Szechuan chicken and got chicken with broccoli). not worth driving back. It was fine but I like the spicier food. Hot and sour soup is one of the best I've had. I've been to a bunch of Chinese restaurants in the general area and this is head and shoulders above any others. read more

I liked the old Moy Goy.....but I LOVE THE NEW MOY GOY! Orange Chicken is fire. Mongolian Beef is fire. Best egg roll and crab Rangoon I have ever had. A big distinction for me vs the old management is that everything tastes fresh and has more flavor. I love orange chicken that has a little bit of crisp and crunch vs one that is just soggy. This is the same for the sesame chicken. The staff is very friendly. Elvis is the man! He's made some great recommendation on things to try on the menu and is always smiling when I walk in to pick up, deliver or on the phone. If you haven't tried them you are missing out! read more

Moy Goy has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. After moving to the city, I realized that no, this quality of Chinese food is NOT normal. It's exceptional and extremely difficult to find in the city. I regularly drive to the burbs just to pick up their dumplings and beef & broccoli... my two faves. Seriously though, I haven't had anything from Moy Goy that wasn't absolutely delicious. Faves: Dumplings, Beef & Broccoli, Egg Rolls, Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef. Bonus: This place is family run and it shows. Everything is made with care and you never leave feeling like you only had two shrimp in your meal. They go above and beyond to ensure their food rocks and everything is packed with flavor. Give them a try, you absolutely won't be disappointed. read more

My usual favorite is no more. So I have been trying different Chinese places in the local burbs. This one has really good classics such as beef chop suey, egg rolls and egg foo young. Have been going to Moy Goy for 30 years and have recommended it 100's of times. I heard they changed hands recently but kept it in the same family, changed the counter and use plastic to-go boxes vs. the traditional Chinese to-go boxes. All of the above don't truly matter as long as the food is still the same. Well, sadly, that was not the case, at least for me. I called my order in today, the same two items I have been ordering for the last 30 years...one small beef fried rice and one Sha Sha Chicken(lightly breaded chicken, green onion, white onion sauteed with hot peppers in a light oil). When I got the items home I noticed the chicken was completely different than usual and thought they'd made a mistake. The new item has peapods, onion, zuchinni, green pepper, other veggies, plain chicken in some kind of brown sauce. Well, the receipt said Sha Sha Chicken so I called them. He was very apologetic, said they'd changed hands and have a different cook and that's how they make that item now but offered a credit for next time. The problem is that their menu has no descriptions of items, just names so a Moy Goy veteran would never know they completely changed item/s. And I'm not trying to pile on but the beef fried rice had very little flavor. I'm very sorry to say that after 30 years, I will need to start searching for another Chinese go to for carryout. This longtime La Grange establishment is under new ownership. I don't know the story, but it seems like the new team is trying to bring this little hole-in-the-wall into the 21st century. The old place was notorious for its ridiculously large portions, reasonable prices, and no frills attitude/ambiance. Used to be carryout only and it didn't matter if you ordered it in advance, they started making it when you arrived. The new menu is a bit more diverse. They are working on the decor, though very slowly. Not sure if the plan is to have some dine-in options, but they're doing some stuff. In my opinion, the food is as good if not better. It's more rich and dynamic. Not the slam bam minimalist Chinese carryout. You can tell they are trying to elevate. My biggest joy comes from the fact that they now have Chow Fun. I've struggled to find a joint that offers it. I love their Beef Chow Fun almost as much as the place I used to order from on the upper East side in NY. New owners and all, I'll remain a loyal patron. Oh...btw, front of house is super friendly and organized. read more

Some items don't even resemble the original recipe. Also more expensive. We loved Moy Goy's food in the past and really wish the old food was still there. Have been a huge fan of Moy Goy for many, many years. Nothing has ever compared. Moved away a year ago, and finally today was in the area and picked up an order. I sensed there were new owners, or at least new staff, however am happy to report it continues to be outstanding. I had the house deluxe fried rice and the Mongolian Beef. Both fantastic. Only complaint are the plastic containers being used now. Much prefer the traditional Chinese take-out containers. Minor point, however seems to add to the overall experience. When we moved to the area we tried so many different Chinese food places, but Moy Goy blows them all out of the water! There is no mistaking Moy Goy as anything but a carry out joint. There are just a couple of tables inside and the decor is utilitarian... no ambiance to speak of. As others have noted, it's cash only and Eben if you call ahead, they don't begin cooking before you arrive. In slower times of the day, I probably would just show up and order there. I ordered the Mongolian Beef lunch special. The portion size was in the ginormous category. I think even a person with a big appetite could get leftovers for dinner from this. The food itself was very good. The beef had some real heat - not watered down much at all for the American palate. The egg roll was also large and good. It was filled with cabbage, tiny shrimp, small pieces of pork, and a little bit of peanut butter. A nice example of the genre. My only complaint about the food is that the Mongolian Beef was pretty salty, and there is no way to get that horse back into the barn. I also wish they had an online menu and began cooking before arrival. Oh yeah, cash only joints are thankfully becoming rare. They might see an increase in business if they start accepting them.
