I never take back bad reviews, well they must've changed ownership since the years I was last here. My recent few visits have been very good! First the food is much better. Second, they have this super cute Asian lady handling the customers, not perfect English but she's definitely very enthusiastic and friendly. I was curious about some crackers I never saw before at the counter and she let me try a couple for free, I also got a free order of egg rolls with my order cuz it was over $30. Places only do that with online orders but I was paying cash tonight , so i appreciated that gesture. Good prices and generous portions, the other local joint that used to be good was Golden Wok but their quality absolutely tanked, I'll keep coming here! Other than the pics I took of tonight's meal I've had the chicken curry and salt and pepper shrimp recently, both very good. If you like the jalapeño kettle chips like Krunchers you'd love the shrimp. Only thing I haven't cared for is the wonton soup, although it isn't terrible read more

This is your every day take out Chinese food. All I got was chicken fried rice and crab Rangoon. However, I've tried four different places in the last two months, trying to find a good to place. This place has the best chicken fried rice and the best crab Rangoon . You actually taste the crab in the crab Rangoon and not just cream cheese. Now that I know they can make these two things correctly. I plan on trying other items from there. Amazing human beings run this place! I was having the worst day yesterday as a mental health professional. (Literally three clients has sudden losses of a spouse/fathers this past week). At the end of the day, I wanted nothing more than some good comfort food. I googled Jade Garden and placed an order online. I waited the 1/2 hour and went to retrieve my order only to find that they didn't have one. It didn't take long for me to realize that I ordered from the wrong Jade Garden. Despite my best effort, the tears started rolling as I called and asked if they could cancel my $60 order. I explained that I was sitting in front of a Jade Garden and just realized my error that I ordered from the wrong one. I was told that my order was already made. I think I mumbled something about donating it as I was sitting in front of Jade Garden in VALPARAISO, IN and could not get it. In an act that I can only explain as being one of true compassion, the person said they would cancel my order. I write this not because of the returned money (although I'm extremely grateful) but rather to tell anyone interested that a restaurant is more than just its food and service. This place is my go to place ever since I moved to the southwest burbs. It's always amazing and huge portions. I get 3 dishes (sesame chicken, shrimp fried rice, and beef and broccoli) and it feeds 5 people with half the food left over. The egg rolls here are amazing. They only have combination and veggie. I have been going to this place for the last 10 years on and off. Just recently they changed owners and NOW the food is absolutely delicious. It reminds me of the Chinese food in Boston and New York. The chicken fried rice, vegetable eggroll, Szechuan beef, chicken pad Thai, hot and spicy beef and chicken kung bao, are ALL absolutely delicious and very authentic... we were not too fond of the mushroom fried rice... they have added new items to the menu. I have ordered my meals for both takeout and for lunch; lunch portions are very good and so are the prices. The restaurant itself is small, but clean. Parking can be an issue. If you're in the neighborhood looking for good Chinese food , this is a must try. read more

On the front of the restaurant is a big sign advertising their smoothies and offering tapioca pearls. Went in to order three bubble teas and was told that they have no bubble teas. They only do smoothies. I would not have minded if the answer had been given in a less rude way. Overall I have found the restaurant to be hit or miss with food and service. The food is okay, greasier and a bit more expensive for smaller portions than others. If it were just that, I'd say maybe 3 or 4 stars... but the last time I ate here the service killed it for me...to put that in perspective, I work retail (management) - shrugging off nastiness with a smile is a honed skill of mine. My usual spots close at 9 and it was about a quarter to, so I called them instead. They closed at 9:30 that night. Soggy meat, their orange chicken is super soggy and nasty. And last time we had their beef fried rice and monogolian beef.... it sure did not taste like no beef lol. My boyfriend had thought it was veal at first but then said it didn't taste right at all. It had a rotten sort of taste.... Had a very strange after taste. Save your time and go to Hong Kong Garden. For the last year that I have been going here the food has always tasted soo good. Everything we tried so far has been delightful including the spicy beef fried rice, spicy beef, Hunan Beef, Pork fried rice etc. Only reason for a star reduction is they only gave 1/4 of the white rice they should have. We ordered 2 large orders which rely on the white rice as a base to complete the entry's. Only got one very loosely packed container for 2 large orders. Had to make our own rice so we could eat the meal, which was very good by the way. I used to order at least once or twice a month from here. My to go to dish is the orange chicken with fried rice, and i used to love it from jade garden. Up until recently that theres not much chicken in the "orange chicken". You will probably get more sauce and dough than actual chicken. Been going here for years. Never again. Of the 6 items ordered, only chicken fried rice OK. General Tso chicken broccoli was crisp and good but rest of dish tasted like it was sitting around from day before. Mushy and tasteless. BBQ pork egg foo young also tasted bland and old. Sauce pasty. Fish fillet with vegetables; what vegetables? Less than one baby carrot grated in total, perhaps one green bean. Found only one thin slice of mushroom. Noodles also tasted as sitting around since yesterday. Not fresh at all. Egg rolls a get by but not as tasty as previous. Perhaps new owners or a push to save money. We did order earlier than usual so perhaps they serve yesterdays left overs first then start cooking later in day but will never know since won't be going back and I am not typically a sour grapes reviewer. read more

They (in my opinion) have the best egg rolls I've had. I have on many occasions have placed a order for pick up for just the egg rolls. Most of the food is very good. The sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli (very tender) is at the top of my list. But their orange chicken (favorite Chinese dish), general tao, sesame chicken is very lacking. I find myself ordering it maybe once a year. Hoping that it had changed and is up to par with their other dishes. But sadly not. They have great prices. And when I order from them for delivery. The Jade Garden is great. This is my Happy Place. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. And, the Jade Garden menu is huge! You will notice that most of the negative reviews were not about the food. Most of the negative reviewers wanted the employees to fake a smile...even when the reviewers were trying to order something that isn't on the huge menu. Anyway, fake smiles always make me sad. We had enjoyed getting the lunchbox specials for a number of years. For roughly $6, you would get an entree, fried rice, egg roll and a drink. Portions were large enough for two meals and the egg rolls were great. But toward the end of 2018, we noticed the quality of the food had gone down. There were new egg rolls that didn't taste as good and way too much garlic on the food. We hadn't gone back until today. We planned on asking what happened to the quality of the food. But we didn't need to. We found the restaurant under new ownership with the quality of the food (including the egg rolls) back to what we knew and liked. read more

The fried rice dish was so horrible and the shrimp they used look like it came from one of them tiny tuna type cans at a supermarket. This is a nice chinese joint for takeout or fast delivery. Their fried rice is very fresh and tasty, especially the shrimp fried rice. Their crab rangoons are crispy and fresh. Their fruit smoothies are refreshing and always a treat. The service is friendly. Nothing too special about this place. Its a regular for an everday person.
