We are hoping they change their frying oil to at least Sustain, the affordable non-GMO sunflower oil instead of Monsanto's Round-Up laced "vegetable" oil (y'all know veggies DON'T have oil, right). We do pray restaurants just stop using this unsafe oil and then we won't have to avoid their fried goods. But the pizza, salad dressing and all the non-fried dishes here are olive oil. I usually never order at a fair unless I can see the product. I made an exception at the Harwinton Fair and it was immediately regrettable. Spent an astonishing $6 for a tired cheese slice that was inferior to Minor League hockey rink slices and middle school cafeteria fare alike. Overly sweet sauce, cardboardy crust, and cheese that resisted every bit of the baking process. Lesson learned.

I'm not sure if there is a specific Guatemalan pizza style, or if this Aurora's is just a pizza place run by people with a Guatemalan cooking background. The crust was doughier and chewier than most pizzas I eat in Connecticut. Supreme pizzas at most CT pizzerias tend to have very similar toppings. Aurora's had a lot more going on though. In addition to some common ingredients like pepperoni and peppers, Aurora's had ham, jalapeños and a sausage type that was maybe sliced chorizo? The pizza was pretty good. There was maybe a bit too much going on topping-wise and the crust was chewier than I prefer, but Aurora's would be good to try if you like a chewy pizza. They also had some Guatemalan meal options.
