Fresh bread, and finely and cut-so-thin proscuitto I swear the thinner it is cut, the more saltier and flavorful it tastes! It was a great stop! The father, who is the owner and founder, was there as was his son. We talked about Italy, where he was from, and his business; a proud business man. Okay, so I agree with some people that the lady that answers the phone is a little abrupt, but she took my order, and my pizza was made the way I wanted it and for the time I requested it to be ready for. I ordered a barbecue chicken with Jalapeños. It came fully loaded with chicken, jalapeño, red onion and barbecue sauce. The crust was crunchy and chewy-absolutely delicious! My son introduced me to Family Pizza's Buffalo Chicken pizza a few years ago. I was skeptical: chicken, buffalo sauce?? Not my idea of a pizza! But I took a bite and Oh My !!That was Good!! This is a local pizza place strictly for take out. I ordered a small Buffalo Chicken pizza that was excellent. Just the right amount of sauce and chicken with feta cheese. But best of all was the crust. It was thin but not burned. I will definitely continue going here for pizza. read more

Never ordered here before, but had a really good Uber Eats promotion. We ordered a white chicken pizza and a Greek salad. This pizza was so beyond good. We are still talking about it the next day and loving the leftovers in our air fryer. Reminds us of a cheaper Pepe's pizza. We took a star off due to paying for a side of marinara that we didn't receive and the lettuce in our salad was almost see through so past it's prime. I ordered a small bbq chicken pizza and an 8inch chicken parm. I'm from jersey so the pizza for me wasn't all that. It did the job. Very bland flavors. The chicken parm was fair. Seemed like the sauce came from a can. Virtually no flavor but grease as well as no seasonings and to top it off chicken was a bit overcooked. Fair pricing for food that "does the job." I recently ordered a pizza here and it was way tastier than the last time, (several years ago). We got a large with green peppers and mushrooms and it was delicious and very generous as well. Based on this experience I have raised my rating from 3 stars up to 4. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. As many have already said, they have delicious crust. I don't know why. It's not dense and hard to chew. They also brush it with a (I think) garlic butter sauce. I typically get the large pepperoni so that I can have leftovers. I find the sauce and other ingredients to be generous; I hate places that skimp on the sauce. Last time I ordered a sausage and olive pizza. It was equally good as the pepperoni. I also like their French fries--nothing special about them (I think they are frozen), but they are tasty and crisp on the outside, yet soft on the inside. They are not crinkle cut fries, so that is a plus (I don't like crinkle cut). I live within walking distance of the place, and I just pick up my pizza, so I don't know about delivery. My boyfriend ordered a chicken bacon ranch pizza and I purchased just spaghetti marinara. We are both pleasantly pleased with this meal! The portion sizes are generous and it does not lack in flavor. Despite other reviews, the man on the phone when we placed our order was pleasant and prompt. The delivery was quick and the food was piping hot. We actually had to let it cool down prior to eating. Get rid of the gal who answers the phone and get someone who actually knows (or acts like they care) how to talk to people. She never explained that there would be a delivery fee (or even told me my total, for that matter). If your customers don't love you due to bad service, your competitors will. I order from Family fairly often because I travel for work and my schedule can be unpredictable. I find their pizza to be closest to New Jersey style that I grew up on. Their non-traditional pizzas are their best. Broccoli and Ricotta, Prosciutto and Mushroom white pizzas are excellent. They also make some nice dinners like Veal, Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana but the sauce could be a little more flavorful. They could also reduce the amount of pasta. They are also very accommodating about special requests. Much better than the standard Connecticut pizza joint. read more

We have a two year old whom we had to remove the room phone because she likes to press buttons. Salad was not as cold as it should have been because it was in the pizza warming bag with the pizza. Pizza sauce tastes slightly like tomato paste. Pizza could have been cooked a bit longer. Overall taste - fair/bland. Ordered antipasto salad. Order was made spot on - no cap or onion. They must be using the least expensive cold cuts they can get their hands on. Ham was not good, and salami was gritty, however beautiful presentation. I did find a small black hair in the food, but it looked more like a very very thin piece of stringy lint- off of maybe an apron or something. Overall taste fair. Last time I was there maybe a year ago I got a slice of cheese and it was really good... Customer service was good, food was fair. read more

I have finally found a pizza place near me that is close to Jersey pizza! I have lived in CT for 2 years and have been in search for a good pizza place. Most have fallen short until tonight when I finally tried Family Pizzeria. Reminds me of Jersey :) The crust was perfect, the sauce was flavorful, and the onion & sausage topping were delicious! My only complaint (which probably is not a complaint for most) is they go pretty heavy on the cheese (a little bit heavy for my taste... but that will not stop me from coming back)! If you like delicious, Jersey style pizza for a great price, and lots of cheese, then this is your place. I would definitely recommend this place & look forward to trying more from their menu. read more

We stopped in at the Family Pizzeria for a stamp on our Windsor, CT ePassport Contest. I'd have given it five stars, except the day we went there was no air conditioning and it was 95 out. Their door was open for (very hot) air circulation, but you have to stand in the direct sun at the counter, so there was no way to escape the vicious heat, indoors or out. I don't know how the workers there did it, in the inescapable heat, but they very quickly turned out an excellent toasted meatball grinder with onions, peppers and cheese for us. I love meatballs, and like to get them whenever we go out, judging each Italian or Greek restaurant by their meatballs. I'd give Family Pizzeria a 4.8 out of 5, for both their meatballs and their grinder. We'll definitely return here, especially for another meatball dish. I should also mention, their prices were excellent! They have a list of about ten different grinders priced at just $6 for a tasty footlong. You can't touch that price anywhere round here, even at Subway, and these are good sized grinders. Great value, very tasty and fast service! read more

It is not that appreciated for the employees to be talking about the customers right in front of them, and or with the cooks (it's a little obvious). I would never go back there. Thumbs down. ZERO STARS. By far the worst experience I've had in some time. Ordered food for a few friends, told the FULL address multiple times on the phone while ordering. An hour and ten minutes goes by and I get a phone call from a kid who can't find the house... No problem, I explain again and he says he's on his way. Then get a phone call ten minutes later... Still can't find it. So I go stand out at the end of my driveway to see if I can flag him down. Twenty minutes later I get phone call asking me if I'm in South Windsor... No I am not. I told the guy on the phone about four times where I was. He says "ok, got it"... Half hour goes by and I call the restaurant to have the same rude gentlemen I had spoken to when I ordered tell me "we don't deliver there."... NO PHONE CALL, NOTHING. This is completely unacceptable and now I know why this place wasn't exactly anyone's first choice. Thanks for wasting two hours of our day. read more
