I definitely do not recommend this tailor. The woman with the short hair was extremely rude and unprofessional. I had previously asked how much it would be to alter another pair of pants and she quoted me $15. When I came back, she suddenly said $20. When I questioned it, she said the $15 was for "men's slacks," which made no sense considering I'm clearly a woman. She then said, "This time I'll do $15, but next time go somewhere else." On top of that, the leggings I picked up that she altered were completely butchered. Horrible workmanship and even worse customer service. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

Do not come here omg Tommy is rude as hell! I asked him to tailor jeans from wide leg to slim leg. First he misunderstood me and put the pins in the jean to look like they would still be flared. I asked if he could pull the jeans from the back while I was standing up to get an idea of what the jeans would look like. He got mad, pulled the pins out the jeans and said find somewhere else. I have a blazer with leather (synthetic) trim. Over the years the synthetic material degraded and the blazer was not wearable. I brought it here and asked if they could repair the trim, and replace it with real leather. I was told I would need to bring my own leather, but they could do the alterations. I purchased a piece of leather and brought it back. Within one week, the job was done and the blazer looks better than before! 10 out of 10 recommend this shop for alterations. read more

There are so many bad reviews for a reason!! Read them! Trust them! Go somewhere else!! I was torn by the mixed reviews but wanted to support a local business. Enough people had positive experiences that I figured it was worth a try--I wish I had trusted the negative reviews and stayed far away. I brought in two dresses to be taken in after weight loss, with one also needing to be hemmed. As I explained what I wanted, I felt rushed and dismissed--others had come in at the same time, and it felt like I was a bother. Still, she seemed willing to do the work, so I paid the full amount up front. When I picked them up, it was a disaster!!! The first dress, which was supposed to be taken in and hemmed, was completely butchered. The hem was crooked and ruined the natural lines of the dress. The tailoring showed zero attention to detail--uneven, sloppy, and nowhere near the agreed-upon fit. It still slipped off me. The second dress, which only needed to be taken in, was barely altered. When I pointed out the remaining gap, I was met with eye-rolling and told, "How do you expect to breathe if it's any tighter?" Instead of listening or adjusting, I got attitude. And here's the worst part: as I stood there, Quy began complaining about me in Vietnamese on the phone, saying I was being unreasonable and now he had to do extra work because of my "ridiculous expectations." He had no idea I'm Vietnamese and understood every word. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration--this place is not worth the risk. I've had several things altered here but this past Monday I had a major job that I had been told could not be done by several other shops. My waist is 26" and hips are 50" so my pants needed to be taken in dramatically. There was no way to take the waist in so much while still allowing enough space to put the pants on. I brought the pants to MQ and the owner was able to figure it out. He added an invisible zipper to the side of the pants so I could open them up enough to put them on and brought waist in so it's now super flattering. He is a genius and HAD MY PANTS DONE THE NEXT DAY! Don't expect next day service every time as they are very busy but I told him I needed the pants for work and he made a miracle. I won't let anyone else touch my clothes. So so so happy! I also brought an faja to him to have altered at the same time and it was done too. Again, so pleased with the service! read more

I need a pair of pants to be altered to have more of a pencil cut, is that something you can do? 2. How long would this type of alteration take, I'm leaving out of town next week. 3. How much would something like this cost? Answer: You ask too many questions, first you want it done fast, then you ask how much? Too many questions, you need to come here so we can see. I had a business event on a Sunday that required a suit and tie and like a dummy I didn't try on my suit pants until the Saturday before. Given 2-years of covid lockdown and *surprise* I did not fit into my pants. I went to MQ at 3:30PM and by 4:45, the waist was altered and the tailor fixed some of hemming. I asked for a dress made with a pattern, brought the fabric for the dress, requested a size 12 AND add pockets, if he needed other supplies he should have said so, however, when I saw the price I expected a fully finished garment that would fit li a dream. I did not see the price quoted until after I left $400!!!!! When I picked up the dress it was too small (he had written size 10 and never took my measurements) there were no pockets, it was not lined AND the zipper was too long. THEN he had the nerve to say I had not paid, when in FACT I had stopped in to ask for progress and HAD PAID THE FULL $400, splitting it between 2 credit cards, 2 weeks earlier, my mistake from start to finish. The man is rude and insulting, does shoddy work, overcharges for that shoddy work then tries to double charge the customer . . . it was a great shop years ago, now it is a total SCAM. read more

One of my outfits was an easy fix but I thought my birthday outfit was going to be tough to fix. Quy knew exactly what was wrong with my outfit before I could even tell him. This job that needed to be done was a job that was going to take longer than 1 day. He was able to complete the alterations within 1 day. Everything was perfect.. They do okay when it comes to alterations - I only had sweatpants hemmed and they were the basic stitch. The alterations did not come undone and they were hemmed they way I expected them to be which was straight and neat. When you drop-off items they ask you what day and time would you like to pick it up. After telling them your preferred time they are great at finishing it on time and are not late. They do not call when it is ready for pickup so if you really need it at a particular day and time call them ahead of time to make sure it is complete. I unfortunately stopped coming to this place due to their unprofessional business. When I would drop of my bags of alterations it would be placed on the floor and close to where the people try on clothes - I was scared that people would grab it and walked away with it when the workers were not looking. The workers were also eating lunch in the area where they do the alterations next to the machines - I was worried that food would get in the clothes. Customer interaction is okay not much chit chat just drop your items and go. This location is in Lakewood mall, but there is no entrance from the mall you have to step outside the mall to get into the store. As far as pricing they are fair for the items being altered, but then again I have never taken anything passed sweatpants. read more

I have used this place to get alterations done in the past. It didn't occur to me that I was getting ripped off. The alterations themselves were ok. Out of 6 shirts, 3 came out to fit very nicely, while the other 3 were taken in a bit too much (more so than what they looked like when I was pinned up) and I had to throw them out. I've been going around SoCal getting quotes for alterations for my (mens') dress shirts. This place charges 50 per shirt. I didn't even get darts! For the same services (sleeves taken in, shortened, waist taken in), most other places charge an average of $25-30. read more

The man who works there or owner, is so rude. When I first came in he didn't let me finish explaining what I wanted and just started talking over me. I interrupted him in return and let him know "I wasn't finished talking". When I came to pick up the pants I let him know I wanted my in law to try on the pants first. He didn't say anything, just walked away. When I was ready to pay he just put my change on the counter and walked away, no thank NOTHING. Horrible little man, I don't k ow what his problem is. This man works miracles!! My girlfriend ordered a romper from one of those online boutiques *cough*fashonnova*cough* and it arrived one day before our Vegas trip. Anyways, it turns out the zipper was very cheap in quality(a link was out of place so it wouldn't zip up all the way, plus the tab to pull the zipper up was tiny). My buddy here at MQ Tailors was able to replace the cheap zipper with a very very good quality zipper, THE SAME DAY I TOOK IT TO HIM! He literally saved our Vegas trip, I can't thank him enough! Hello and this is my review of this great establishment that I use frequently. Finding a great place to have alterations done is as difficult as finding a barber/ stylist who understands and fits your needs. I highly recommend this place due to the quality of craftsmanship in altering clothing to fit your needs. The owner is very welcoming, informative, very pro-active, and understanding in getting what you want completed. For myself, I always believe in quality over quantity. I also believe in YOU Get what YOU pay for. To have something custom fitted is worth paying that extra charge. If the quality of craftsmanship is worth the money, I say, go for it. Why pay for cheap quality workmanship. In return, YOU may have saved a dollar or two, but the craftsmanship is mediocre. Again, quality over quantity. I would rather be at peace for paying a little extra for great craftsmanship which is hard to come by these days. I recently bought a PENDELTON light jacket which was one size larger than I usually wear. I paid a sum that I believe is reasonable due to the difficulty in altering the product. To me, it's worth it. I think of it as a DOLLAR a DAY I use it. With that mentality, I have peace and understanding that I am satisfied with my custom fitted product every single day of use. This establishment has been in business since the early '90's. So to me, longevity has established a great reputation with this business. He was so meticulous and methodical in his alterations that it came out better than I expected. Pure class and professionalism!!! I appreciate when those take their time with me.
