I'm excited Gainesville finally has a good seafood boil place! I've been here twice for take out and I've had similar experiences both times. I usually get the make your own combo with muscles, clams, shrimp, sausage, and crab legs. I like getting medium spice with Mr. & Mrs. Crab seasoning. I think the medium spice is the perfect amount of spice for me. It's not too spicy but keeps me on my toes. The Mr. & Mrs. Crab seasoning is really flavorful, but decently salty. It's not something I can eat often because of how salty it is, but it is great to have every once in a while. Quality of the seafood is decent. I've never had an issue with it. Every time I eat here, I leave satisfied. Take out service is fast and efficient. Whenever I order, they have it ready within 15 minutes. They are decently covid friendly as everyone is wearing masks. They have good deals if you follow their mailing list and social media. Every month they have a different deal going on. In August, they had 10% off your order. In September, they have $10 off with a purchase of $65 or more. If you sign up for their birthday club, you can get $15 off your order of $55 or more during your birthday month. Overall, I think it's a pretty good seafood boil place. The prices are quite reasonable, 35 dollars for 6 lobster tails is pretty fair. Eating here 4 times since they opened, the shrimp have always been of acceptable quality but the blue crab I ordered once had very little flavor. All considered, I enjoy the food itself. My problem with this restaurant is the service and staff. Whether a to go order or sitting down, they have been indifferent and sometimes rude. The staff are all young and it feels as if we have gone to eat at a fast food restaurant with their behavior ongoing around you while in the restaurant. Tried a couple of fried dishes to go, fish and chips with sweet potato waffle fries and a shrimp basket with Cajun style fries. Both were solid! Whatever brine the Crab couple use is delicious and I'd definitely be up for trying one of their full-blown boils in future. That said, there were a few glaring issues. First and foremost, the fried "cod" (remains to be determined) was cut into suspiciously thin and portioned-out Perch- or tilapia-like slices before having likely been flash-frozen, later thawed and battered, then flash-fried. That was noticeable, but perhaps less so to those who are not fried seafood connoisseurs, the fried fish especially was a bit... soggy. Also, beware the attractive and long list of side sauces! If you have a nice bottle of Texas Pete hot sauce at home, don't bother adding individual packets of same at $0.50 a pop to your order! If it were a homemade sauce and not a commercial and boring sauce that'd be different, but straight-up fast food packets don't impress at all. Will definitely be back, but I hope this chain's branch will consider doing better by their diverse and experienced college town and local resident customer base. Cedar River, Haile Bistro, even Culver's (despite their using the same oil for their fried fish as for their cheese curds and onion rings) maintain the lead, for now! read more

Im not a big Seafood person by any means. Actually, I've never even had a seafood boil until I ate here. But wow. This place is incredible. The decor is super fun and makes me feel im at an ocean resort. The happy hour deals are great. I was there for the 8:30-Close happy hour (they take a break from happy hour during the busy period, but there's an early one, too) and got super cheap cocktails and beer. The cocktails definitely had alcohol in them, too, which is always a plus. But, let's talk about the food. It's gas. It all tastes super fresh, the seasoning is full of flavor. You choose your spice level, but be warned that the spices here seem one step spicier than other places. Medium tastes hot and hot is super hot. I ordered fried pickles and they were delicious. They're sweet pickles, but the breading is nice and they were cooked perfectly. The portion seemed like it should've cost $20 but it was only $6. The clam chowder is some of the best i've tasted. As someone who's "not a seafood guy" I tend stick to the sausage. It's about $6 for a half pound and I feel like i'm committing grand theft for that price because it's so good. I went by myself to this relatively new seafood place (the wife was out of town), for an early dinner. The place has decent decor, but nothing fancy. Service was prompt and friendly. The menu is purely seafood, much like a Joe's Crab Shack. I, and most of the others went for the seafood boils, where you can choose from about 14 seafood options (at widely varying prices), boiled in a bag with a choice of 5 sauces. (I chose the mixed sauce, which I thought was fabulous). So it's a messy messy dining experience, but very tasty, and so I loved it! Bibs, a waste basket, gloves, and plenty of napkins were provided. Be sure to order the jaw-dropping Garlic Breadsticks (4); those with 8 appetizer Coconut Shrimp, and a glass of Landshark, made for a satisfying meal. If I can give this location zero stars for worst management in Mr. & Mrs. Crab's organization, I would. I have eaten at multiple locations; I discovered them years ago in Georgia and was pumped when they came to Florida. I have eaten at 3 locations in the Orlando area and have had a fantastic experience. Let me first say that our waiter Julian (6) was amazing, but they had him working a happy hour lunch rush all alone. Finally, after watching him in the weeds and us sitting there for 10 mins after being seated, the bartender came to take our order. Our meals came exactly as we ordered. As soon as we started eating, my husband found an extremely long hair in his boil. Julian called the manager since he was standing right there and seen the size of the hair; he looked to be in complete shock. The manager came over, and she asked if we would want them to make it over. She told us that no one in the kitchen had long hair and that she was extremely sorry and would take care of it. We told her that we would feel comfortable if she left it at the table while they made the other one. She told us that she had to show the kitchen, so she took it back. For my husband's own sanity, he requested that they change the heat level from mild to no heat, assuring he would get a new batch. When it came out, of course, it looked like the same batch since it had everything he just sent back, but when he took the first bite, it was actually the same level of heat, if hotter. He was so disgusted that he could not eat his meal. To make matters worse, I had to eat alone. Then when we went to check out, the manager insults us with $9.09 off our meal. Mr. & Mrs. Juicy Crab needs to address this manager; she has no business in leadership. I have never experienced anything but amazingness at all the other locations, and I have eaten in multiple ones in Georgia and Florida. Her restrooms have almost empty store-purchased soap bottles on the counter, and her soap dispensers are empty. The wet naps are not the ones from the brand; they use ones they purchase on their own. She has one waiter on staff with three hosts for seating and to-go orders during happy hour. She is making your brand look really bad. After reading one of the other one-star reviews, all the clams were broken in half; I wouldn't be surprised if they were clams they opened forcefully. Stay away from this location. read more

Not sure who chose the playlist, but after about 5 rap songs, an Aerosmith song played. Then 5 or 6 more rap songs we couldn't understand, then a Fleetwood Mac song. I get playing the music you like when you're working, but why alienate a huge chunk of your demographic? Why not play a mix list that includes rap but with other genres mixed in. Will we be back? I had dinner here last weekend with some coworkers and the whole experience was great! We were a little hesitant to try out the place because of the price but in the end, it was all definitely worth it. All of us got the combos, with some add ons like clams or extra snow crab, etc. I did enjoy how simple it was to customize our orders and combos without having to order an entirely new meal. So my hubs and I have been 3x in the past month; twice for lunch and once for dinner. I will say that we have had honestly the most consistent quality of food and flavor from here when compared to other places in Gainesville. Prices for meals don't change when you're going for lunch or dinner if you're getting make your own combos. I am a huge fan of garlic and spice and so for me, the mr. & mrs. Crab special sauce which is a combo of their garlic, Cajun, & lemon butter, is perfect. I get mine hot. The options though are no spice, mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. With someone like me who normally add extra hot sauce to everything, the hot was actually a perfect flavor. Each time I have gone I have gotten the clams which have been awesome. I have also tried the blue crab which are good, and are whole smaller blue crabs but if you're wanting ease in eating, then go for the snow crab legs/ claws, especially if you don't want to break down the whole crab. I also tried the green mussels which were surprisingly good; I'm use to Italian blue mussels. For me, 1/2 pound of each has been more than enough but definitely consider that if you're coming hungry, the shell is definitely part of the weight. 2 blue crabs came in a half pound for reference. My hubs goes for the crab legs and head-off shrimp. He does a pound of each. You do have 2 options for shrimp; head on (cheaper/ arguably more flavor) or head off (about $3 per half lb/ easier to eat faster). He really is not into spicy flavors but has loved the Cajun and mild. He did try Cajun no heat last time and said he preferred the Cajun mild. Each meal comes with a single boiled red potato and a half ear steamed corn. It wasn't until our third time coming that we actually remember to get a picture before we ate the food. If you're not into the whole seafood boil thing, they do have fried fish baskets. You can share combos too which is nice. They have a few lunch specials from 12-3 but it's a single item about half lb with 1 side which is not a lot of food really. They have Togo though and I've seen that about half of their business is Togo if not more but then again they've only been open since April and we are during coronavirus restrictions that many choose to eat Togo when given the option. If you eat in, you get a packet after ordering with a plastic tie bib (wear the thing and don't get yourself dirty), cheap deli style plastic gloves, wet naps, plastic utensils, & salt and pepper packs. They will bring a metal shell cracker if you ask. A metal bucket is communal and put on the table for shells and garbage as you go. They certainly won't win any environmentally conscious awards because EVERYTHING comes in plastic, but again, is it their thing or just sanitary for COVID-19? I can't say because we had never been before things hit. It's a crazy long review but hopefully gives you a good idea about what it is. read more

I literally took one bite of oysters and one fry. My wife asked for them to take it back, they offered to replace it but would not remove it off the bill. The food was so gross and suspect that there was no way I was gonna gamble with anything else. Needless to say, while I managed not to puke, that night my stomach pain was awful and I did have some disorganized bowel movements.
