Their prices were very fair, as well - not as cheap as some of the other appliance shops in DFW, but when they show up as scheduled, their reps are polite & knowledgeable, and they actually FIX the problem, it's worth it! I have used this company in the past and I was extremely satisfied. Let me explain my reason, not only for the review but for the low rating this time: My washing machine refused to complete a normal cycle, so again I place a call to them. As always, the call was professional, the staff friendly and I was able to land an appoint for the next day, despite it being the day before Thanksgiving. Fast forward to Wednesday, November 27th. My appointment was to be between 3:00 and 3:30 but while at work, I receive a call coming in a little after 1pm. The technician advised that he was in route to my home. YIKES! But you're "TWO" hours early. The tech advised and I quote; You are my last customer for today. I can do you today or it will be Monday before I get back out. I advised him that I could not wait until Monday, that is not what I was told but there is someone at my home now, waiting for me. I instructed him to call me after he looks at the appliance and advised him that "I" would be the one paying him and would l=give him a credit card over the phone, if that was okay. He said fine. After waiting, I called the person at my home to see if the tech showed up; I was told yes and that he was gone. Gone? Yes, he repaired it and left. Did he tell you what was wrong, how much it would cost? The response was; no. The technician repaired my machine without advising me of what was wrong or how much it would cost. He also did not follow up with me for payment-NOTHING. I receive a call on yesterday to advise me of what I owe. Mr. Appliance is NOW wanting to complete the service and settle up! I did call them back on yesterday, after work but received their voice mail. I will call again today and BOY do I have an earful for them. I will also call the BBB. Who does this !!!! ???? read more

We got assigned this company through our home warranty after the first company they sent us couldn't be bothered to schedule an appointment. We are SO GLAD that we got Mr Appliance of Plano. All of their staff I got to talk with are amazing. John came to our house and was able to identify two potential solutions for our oven. They took ownership of ordering parts so it wouldn't get delayed by shenanigans from home warranty. The first and easiest solution of course didn't work but the second solution fixed our oven and we were so happy to not have to go through the hassle of having to replace it. Mr. Appliance of Plano was great. AHS sent out this company to look at my fridge. They quickly diagnosed the problem and determined I needed a new fridge. They worked with AHS to get me a new fridge. IF I could give them a NEGATIVE STAR I would. The technician came to repair my Whynter Wine Cooler/Humidor under warranty. He arrived and looked the item over stated that it would be cheaper for a replacement item than to repair it and left. He then reported to the warranty company that my dogs gave him an allergic reaction and they were bothering him during repair. My dogs were locked up and outside. He never saw any of them. This took over a week of not responding to the warranty company and myself calling numerous times per day. Then had the nerve to say my house was unsanitary due to my dogs. He completely lied to my face and the warranty company. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! read more

Do not use them for your repairs. They charge way too much then give you a bogus warranty. They replaced our heating element in our dryer in November 2017. Charged us $280 and gave us a 1 year warranty on the work. The heating element went out again. I called to get them to repair it they said we need to have the vent professionally cleaned even though my husband checked the vents. So basically their warranty is a lie. I needed my dryer repaired, and the tech came out, and recorded the serial number. He stated that another tech would be out the same day, and bring the part. The individual failed to show up. Multiple phone calls, and emails were made, and this company failed to return any calls or emails. I ended up paying another company to make the repairs. Horrible customer service! read more

Mark from Mr. Appliance came out to take a look at an icemaker that is over 20 years old. We loved the icemaker but didn't have high hopes of it being salvageable. It had sparks coming out of it and was leaking. When Mark left the thing was working like new and making more ice than it has in years. We tend to keep things a l-o-n-g time so I'm sure we will be seeing him for some of the other things in this house. read more

Very unprofessional. They've tried to charge $265+$517 for repair that another company completed for under $200.When called for the service,explained that Bosch microwave bulb burned out and microwave sometimes not turning on after door is closed(provided model number). Milton showed up,spent 5 min in the house and 15 min in the car talking to someone. Then he came back and said that for the bulb,whole assembly will need to be ordered ($56)and for the microwave not turning on sometimes ,control board will have to be replaced for $517!!. Also said that $89 service call already paid will cover bulb assembly replacement and i'll just have to pay for the bulb. I've contacted Mr Appliance of Plano to schedule bulb assembly replacement only(will not agree to pay $517 for the control assembly) and been told that extra $189 to replace the bulb-$265 total!! I've asked for the $89 refund because another Bosch repair approved company quoted $154 including material to replace the bulb and been told: no refunds. Sure enough,another company replaced bulb for $154 total instead of $265 that Mr Appliance wanted to charge. They've also replace $20 relay switch instead of $517 repair that Mr Appliance wanted to charge!!! BE AWARE! read more

On March 31, 2017, John G. came to my house for a service call on a dryer that was not working. At that time, his diagnosis was that the control panel needed to be replaced. The quote for the repair was over $500. Based on the cost of repair, I chose to explore replacing the dryer versus the cost of repair. The replacement of the dryer was too much and therefore I decided to explore with the cost of a control panel. When I discovered that a new control panel from the manufacture cost less than $200 and required less then 10 minutes of time to replace, I chose to order the control panel myself. When the control panel arrived, I carefully replaced it after reviewing literature and videos and being sure to discharge any static prior to working with the panel. I discovered that replacing the control panel did not change anything. The dryer continued to function in the same manner as it did with the original control panel. On May 1, 2017, John returned to reevaluate the dryer. At that time he told me that although there was no indication that the door switch was damaged, his "gut instinct" was the door switch was damaged. At that time he ordered a replacement door switch. On May 3, 2017, John return and replaced the door switch. Replacing the door switch did not change anything. During this time, John spoke repeatedly about how difficult LG is to work with. He went on to call LG support. After he spoke with LG support, he informed me that they were not able to help him because Mr. appliance is not a approved service provider for LG. This was a shock for me because when I originally Mr. appliance in March, I asked if they service LG products and was told yes. However, no one volunteered the information that they were not an approved service provider. According to John, LG does not assist technicians in anyway with troubleshooting unless they are an approved service provider. If I had known this information, I certainly would have known how important it is to make sure you have an approved service provider perform your repair. I personally find it misleading that Mr. appliance did not offer me that additional detail when I originally asked if they service LG products. On May 3, 2017, after John determined the door switch replacement was not the solution he stated there was nothing more he could do. The service charges for the visits were credited back, Which I greatly appreciate. After calling LG to obtain a list of certified providers in my area, Guard Appliance made a service call on May 18, 2017. The technician diagnose the problem in less than 10 minutes and 10 minutes later, the repair was complete and my dryer was functioning again. What they found was "the stat was open" and it was replaced. The replacement stat cost $10. This leaves me extremely frustrated. I started this journey to repair my dryer with a visit from John on March 31 and based on not one but two missed diagnosis by John, I did not have a working dryer until seven weeks later. Over the course of three separate service appointments, John spent in excess of four hours in my home, misdiagnosed the problem which led to an unneeded expense of over $200 and directly contributed to the delayed repair. As a result of missed diagnosis, I now own a control panel which cost me $213. 47. I have attempted three times to resolve this issue with Mr. Appliance and have not received a response. If you are in need of service for your appliance, I recommend you skip Mr. Appliance and call Guard Appliance. read more

We have owned our home for 4 years but our Washer/Dryer (Duet) which we bought at Costco is 10 years old. In the 4 years at our house we had never had the dryer vent cleaned out (homeowner fail, I know). I called Mr. Appliance because I thought the washer was leaking (water puddle after last round of laundry) and I went ahead & scheduled a vent clean-out while I was at it. The washer guy (John) came out first & could find nothing wrong with the washer. It was a $79 charge for the visit with the promise that if it was in fact leaking & they had to come back out, that $79 would be taken off (seems fair to me). The next day the Vent guy came (Mark). He spent over an hour on our incredibly neglected dryer vent & it turns out that the water probably came from the dryer, it was so clogged and I had done so much laundry that condensation had built up that badly. There were remnants of a bird nest in our vent!! That vacuum was on for what seemed like the entire time he was here, he worked nonstop. The total charge was $300 which sounds like a lot for dryer vent cleaning but for the amount of time and effort... and I had braced myself for the washer fix to cost way more than that. I am really surprised to be the first to rate them on Yelp as they've been around awhile & our experience was great. Marilynn answered when I called to book & she was super knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. They have a system that texts you a picture of the tech before they show up so you know what they look like & both of our techs were professional & efficient. Highly recommended. read more

It all started off good. I called on Monday because my oven was not heating up properly. Mr. Appliance of Plano's ratings on Yelp and Home Advisor seemed pretty good so I thought that I was making the right choice. My appointment was made for 4:30 pm on Tuesday and I was told that the Technician would call when he was heading out to my location and that I would also receive a text message. I made sure that I was home early and had still received no call just before 4:30 so I called to make sure that they had not forgotten. I was told that 4:30 meant "any time after 4:30" and that he would probably be with me in about 1 hour. He actually did arrive at around 5:00pm so that wasn't too bad. After diagnosing the issue, he told me that the electronic controller board needing replacing and that they had to order the part. I asked him how long it would take to get here and he said they would have it either Thursday or Friday and would call me as soon as it is in. This meant that I would have my oven repaired before Christmas so I agreed for them to do the work. I called this morning (Thursday) at 9:17 am to ask for a status update and was told by the person who answered the phone that she was not able to tell me when the part would arrive but she would have somebody call me back. At 2:30 pm I had still received no call back so I called again. After being placed on hold for a while, I was told that the earliest that they could get out would be Tuesday (after Christmas) because the part was coming in from out-of-State and would not arrive until Friday. I explained that the Technician had told me that they would be able to do the work on Thursday of Friday of this week and that's the main reason why I told them to go ahead and do the work. Now I would have no oven for Christmas. Why can he not carry out the work on Friday when the part arrives? She said that the part would not be arriving until "Late" on Friday. She then said that they had lots of calls for ovens and everybody was waiting longer because of the Holiday period. My concern was that the technician had told me that the job would be done before Christmas and that is why I agreed to them doing the work. Then she put me on hold again while she spoke to somebody else, presumably a supervisor, and when she came back to me she said they would block off 2:00pm - 4:30pm but could not guarantee that the part would be here on time because they are at the mercy of the courier. This means that, not only may I be without my oven over Christmas, but I now have to be home on the off chance that the part arrives tomorrow. I told her that this would reflect on the review that I write but that didn't seem to worry her at all. So here I am, writing my first review. They get one star because I cannot give no stars. Let's see if they call back tomorrow and do the work. If they do, I will update the review accordingly before sharing it on Facebook. The part did arrive yesterday (Friday at 12:17, not between 2:00 - 4:30, luckily, I was home) and they fitted it. The oven is now working fine. It's just a pity that I went through so much to get it done in the timeframe that they originally gave me. The Technician (Eugene) was courteous throughout and did a professional job. I am changing my rating but cannot give a 5. I probably would use Mr. Appliance again. They really need to give a bit more coaching to the people who answer the phone and not promise deadlines that they may not be able to keep. Christmas dinner is rescued! Thank You Eugene! read more

So like it does any time your warranty expires my fridge decided to wait exactly five days until I was out of warranty. The business and the manufacturer I bought the fridge from were no help. I scheduled Mr. Appliance of McKinney and they came out same day. (3 hours after I called) When their technician Andrew showed up he was beyond polite. He found my problem very quickly and he evan pointed out some issue caused by leaking fridge. He not only explained what it would take to fix the fridge he also provided four or five other less expensive options. Andrew also was helpful in giving advice about talking to my insurance company about damages done by the water leak. They charged $89 to come out but you are able to apply that to your overall bill if you decide to use them to do your repair. At no time did I ever feel pressured to buy anything or like I was being up sold, Andrew only provided the facts and gave me several options to help my situation. If all of their technicians are as helpful as Andrew I don't know how you could go wrong using Mr. Applance. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family in the future. read more
