Fresh baklava
Emma J.

Amazing fresh spread with a ton of variety! Nestled inside the best Persian market I've found in SD county, Mr Baklava sits in the front corner of Balboa Market. In addition to baklava, there's some seriously stunning evil eyes and trinkets for sale. This is a great place to shop for something unique & authentic. You can order by weight or purchase some of the pre-packaged sets. All delicious!

Turkish Delights

I run into this little baklava shop inside of Balboa International Market. Amazing baklava! They have more traditional looking desserts beyond the cut baklavas. We have had some baklavas from other Turkish baklava shops in the County, but this one is the best so far. Of course, much richer and better than the pre-packaged ones we can buy at Costco or Trader Joe's. Lot's of pistachios, which I understand is more Turkish style. This is the only place that I have seen in San Diego that has fresh selection of Turkish Delights, which I was so excited to find! We can buy as much Turkish Delights as we want, they will cut it and sell it by weight. It is a bit more pricey, compared to baklava. Such a little gem for Turkish desserts! The young lady at the shop was kind to explain what each item was. Thank you!

$6 dollars for this is crazyyyyyy. Nothing is made on site, everything is shipped of them from God knows where. Soggy, no crunch even on the top phyllo dough, artificial taste most likely from the rose water in the syrup. I think they used to carry better baklava in the past. One star for customer service

Dubai cake

Brought it bc mom loves Dubai chocolate. Try out the cakes!! There's either milk or dark chocolate. I didn't buy the Dubai chocolate bar, maybe next time.

Mr. Baklava is located in a Market! It's a stand near the cash registers! The spread of Baklava left me in aw. Sarag Burmasi baklava melted in my mouth! The Pistachio Baklava, Fıstık sarma, Burma, carrot cut baklava, and birds nest all impeccable. Disclaimer! If the cashew baklava is there PLEASE DO GET IT! By the platter I had received you can say I was obsessed! The service was excellent! He had described what all the different variations consisted of. I couldn't be happier with my experience. Baklava is my favorite dessert and Mr.Baklava is as athletic as it can get. I'm happy to hear that they will be opening another location so many can enjoy this ageless treat. Truly a gift. Also if I did by chance get any of the names of the baklava I received incorrect I am still learning as we know there is hundreds of different kinds of this amazing art we call baklava:)

SWEET TREATS (3.5 stars) $15.99/lb on Turkish Baklava and Turkish Delights The location is inside the International Market that's off of Balboa Avenue. Where in the market? Behind the registers - narrow and snug area. There were a ton of selections for individual purchase of baklava. Honestly, although I didn't select any chocolate ones all the ones I picked (different shapes and etc) tasted very similar. At this location, the square ones in my picture would be the selection of choice. Ok, the square one with the white powder on top was the best... there was a soft layer of similar to bread pudding texture and taste. There didn't seem to be a distinct difference between the others except appearance. Baklava was good but I've had better. I wanted to try the Turkish delights and they didn't sell them individually, kind of obligated to spend more money by the pound and buy the prepackaged delights. And within these prepackage delights are different flavors delights so choose wisely don't just grab and go. It comes with a pack of three and my favorite was the middle one, reddish/pink with crumbs of pistachio. It had a good berry flavor I was looking for in a Turkish delight. The other two I didn't care for. I haven't had much delights in my life and mainly those preboxed ones sold at the store (fruit delights by Liberty orchards) so my baseline of a delight is a bit tainted. But I can tell you, their delights were a little harder and dryer for my liking. Until the next review...

This coffee shop has indoor and outdoor seating. It's a cute coffee that I regret not taking pics of the shop itself. A good reason to go back to try another tasty drink and snap some photos!

The first two times I ordered at the shop and they're is usually a line with a couple people and a wait for your drink. Considering the crowd, the wait was reasonable but I wish I didn't have to wait. So the third time I ordered online and I love that I was able to walk in and pick up really quickly. The parking is OK. that little shopping center that it's located in isn't the prettiest. The inside is typical dark coffee shop with seating. Not like the newer trend of coffee shops with brighter modern decor.

It's in the heart of North Park bustling with shops, cafes, restaurants, and businesses. So needless to say we ordered two banana lattes which were so flavorful and delicious . The vibe is energetic with lots of chatter and energy. So, if you want that energizing environment both with coffee and socializing, "Lazy Eye" is the place to be. They also are a dog-friendly coffee shop. So, feel free to bring Fido also! I always love to try new places and support small businesses. They also sell merchandise here! So order a coffee and T -shirt both short and long sleeves plus sweatshirts as well to go! This is a place that is happy, upbeat, sells delicious coffee, food , and cute merchandise. I also enjoyed the upbeat music they were playing in the background. Come to "Lazy Eye" now!

You can either drive through or walk up to the counter, which is great if the drive-thru line is long. The staff are super friendly, and they have some really tasty in-house flavors, with seasonal options that rotate regularly. The coffee is excellent -- I always get mine half sweet, and they do a great job balancing the flavor. It's local, convenient, and surprisingly affordable for today's prices... under $5 for a latte, which is a total win. There's no indoor seating since it's a tiny booth, but there's plenty of parking if you want to walk up and grab your coffee. Overall, such a solid local coffee spot with friendly staff, creative flavors, and great value.

This is such a cool spot…read more I love a good coffee shop, even more so when they have more than just coffee. Easy does it has simple but delicious beverage options including coffee, matcha, hojicha, pastries and open face bagels. All delicious. But in addition to that, they also sell plenty of packaged goods like a copious amount of high quality take home coffee beans from some really amazing roasters, matcha and hojicha powder, snacks (like shiso sour cream popcorn), spreads, and tin fish. The shop itself is huge with plenty of seating and tables, making this a great coffee date spot or remote work location. Their branding is really cute and unique which adds to the overall vibe. We even experienced a cool pop up on the weekend when we first went! The service is also really great. Everyone is kind and helpful and the wait it never too long.

OVERVIEW Come for the equally balanced, delicious coffee AND matcha drinks; the spacious work setting; the side entertainment (like a free bookshelf + camp chairs outside), and incredible ownership. Be prepared for hard parking during peak hours (lunchtime) and possible lack of seats (especially during schooltime). DRINKS It is RARE to find a shop whose matcha is on par with its coffee; normally, one is better than the other. Easy Does It, or EDI as we affectionately call it, is pro at BOTH. With coffee served from Provecho, matcha from Nami and hojicha from Paru??? You just hit a trifecta of GOOD good. Our Typical Order: 1) Iced Earl Grey Latte - omg, I LOVE the earthiness that the earl grey syrup brings to the matcha. Matcha, to me, is either too grassy or too sweet; the earl grey syrup makes it a perfectly earthy balance. 2) Honey Cinnamon Latte - how good could a standard coffee shop latte be, you ask? They have the HCL at almost every shop, and it's not usually standout. EDI, again, blew expectations wide open. Their HCL is balanced: sweet without being saccharine; and you can actually taste the cinnamon. 3) Hojicha Latte, Hot - omg, there was a time when I ordered almost one of these A DAY. Again, another sleeper - if you like the taste of coffee but can't take the caffeine (for a late night drink, perhaps), a hojicha is a good choice. It has that grounded taste that coffee gives, and the hot version of it is like a HUG for your mouth and stomach. They also have cool inventive flavors like the Matcha Cloud, the Coconut Cream Cloud (which is a coffee cloud on top of coconut water, I hear it's refreshing), so you'll never get tired of the drinks they have here. I also want to mention that they do serve wine and beer, too... so there's something for everyone! FOOD Spend any time in a coffee shop and know... you're gonna get hungry! Thankfully, EDI has open-faced bagel sandwiches AND pastries here, all of which look mighty tasty; all of which I cannot partake in, since I am gluten free. But ohhh, gluten warriors unite! Thanks to the partnership that is Jacob of Made for Mei Mei Mochi (aka the protein mochi) and Easy Does It, you'll have your PICK of 5 different flavors of homemade, chewy, ooey, DELICIOUS MOCHI -- SANS added sugars and preservatives you normally find in the store. I'm telling you, I don't normally like mochi (it tends to be so sweet) but I love the texture. And Made for Mei Mei hits it all! Flavors include: 1) chocolate hazelnut -- which tastes like Ferrer Rocher, yum 2) ube 3) green tea / red bean 4) black sesame 5) pb&j (yes, he's stocked peanut butter & jelly, a fan-demanded flavor) My favorites are #1 and #4; sometimes I go for #2 and #5 to mix it up. Either way, I spend WAY too much on these tiny li'l treats I might as well become an early investor. AMBIENCE This place is perfect for computer work as light doesn't directly fill the whole space. I like a li'l shade when I'm staring at a bright computer screen. There are two rooms: front and back; the back is a li'l darker and more chill vibes than the front. I also appreciate that they have a free bookshelf (just replenish it with your own!), plus a few magazines scattered around (for decoration, but I still browse). I miss when coffee shops had analog media, especially for when we don't want to be glued to our screens. EXTRA CREDIT Easy Does It also offers their shop as space for community events. From mahjong with No Ambition Tile Club to wine and jazz nights IN SUM THANK YOU Easy Does It ~ Grace, Nancy, the sister I haven't met, Eugenia, and the entire team ~ for creating a lovely third space where I can work, enjoy my snacks / drinks, meet friends and co-work, and have a great conversation. You make it so easy to feel welcomed, and I'll forever be grateful for you :)
