Used them 1 time and everything was fine not the cheapest not the most expensive place from what i can remember back few years ago with my truck. Today i had my car checked out at a different shop and was quoted an unreasonable number I then called Mr. Breaks and talked to a very well mannered gentleman who made me feel it was worth my time to come in. I made sure to ask if he had time for me today given it was 345 in the afternoon he gave me a ball park price of $100 diffrence and said no official quote till he sees it but could do it for me today they close at 6. I then come right away there and drive 15 minutes. When i walk in a guy other then i was on the phone with, makes it very clear he doesn't want to be there. He goes on to tell me he can't promise to give me a quote today or do my breaks because there are 2 cars in the bay being worked on and they closed at 5:30 but when i talked with the other man he said he would take care of me and they close at 6 i asked if i leave the car here for 2 hours can i have a quote and come pick it up and was met with no you can leave the car to get worked on or come a different time. So I called to see if I could get brakes done all around my car and he rudely told me he doesn't sale parts he's a repair shop. So I asked if I bought brakes could they do my brakes and he said NO!! The worst experience ever, the so called mechanic that I never dealt with before got hostile and defensive when I asked why was my engine light on and it wasn't before I took the car there to get the starter replaced. He told me that they did what I asked and otherwise he didn't care about my car. After 15 minutes of the back and forth he finally brought the old machine out to do a diagnostic on the vehicle and kept trying to convince me that the engine light was on when I brought it?? Like I wouldn't notice it?? Then he told me it was the battery and even said that I was bitching about the price and that they gave me a good deal but how is it a deal if I come out with a new problem that I didn't have before WTF? They need to get that guy some mental help and training on how to be a mechanic or that place will no longer exist!! read more

Unpleasant customer service. Went for an oil change. They did not have oil. They had to go buy some and probably groceries because it took a while. And don t say anything because the man at the counter is always right. Despite the long wait, unpleasant customer service. He will tell you you got a good deal. Be careful! So I brought my car here to get the front brakes fixed. I was using a Groupon discount and was quoted $348 just for the front brakes, pads, rotors, and labor. That's with the Groupon discount! I decided to get another quote, so I took a drive down Gratiot to Detroit Auto Repair. Went to this location recently due to having a Groupon deal for an oil change/tire rotation and safety inspection. I called ahead and set up an appointment. Upon arrival I stood inside the building for a while with no one around, finally the person who worked there came in and I was told that the other person working that day had called off so it was just him running the moving truck rental AND the auto shop alone. This is where the red flag should have gone up for me but I continued forward with getting service here. The guy did the oil change however the other aspects of my Groupon were not performed.. The biggest issue being a "safety inspection". I know this was not completed because shortly after I had my service I noticed leaking underneath my car which is oil AND coolant. So something that could have been brought to my attention while I had my car in the shop was discovered shortly after. I DO NOT recommend this location any longer. And recommend to management to have more that 2 workers at this location so one person does not get stuck alone doing 50 different things causing customers time and money to be wasted since the job cannot be performed correctly. It was very apparent the singular worker was overwhelmed as well. Also- had this problem been discovered with the inspection that was supposed to be completed the shop would have received additional payment so an even larger sale was completely missed for the company. read more

They put 2 quarts extra of oil in my car. Because they did not take my old oil out and clearly just added more, the oil is so dirty. Now I'm having a bunch of problems with my car. I have to get the oil removed and hoping there isn't extra damage I don't know about yet. All I can smell is burning oil. Hoping my rear main seal isn't blown bc the excess oil. read more

Brought my van in to have an oil change and tune up. They had it for 5 days. I had to call multiple times to check when it would be done. They said it would be done that day on Tuesday, wasn't done till Wednesday. Everything seemed fine, car was running fine, no leak spots in the driveway and they also noted it didn't leak at all on the lot. But I drove home and it started hesitating to accelerate after coming to a stop. Got home and checked the transmission fluid and it was bone dry. Now I came here highly recommended by a friend only because my regular auto shop was too booked up (Autotechs in Inkster), when I take my vehicles in for anything there every single thing is checked. Wires, fluids, everything. Apparently at Mr. Brakes it's ala carte and you have to ask for all those standard things to get checked. A simple discrepancy in a basic inspection could now cost me plenty more to fix this transmission. The guys here are super nice, but I no longer think I could put my vehicles in their hands again. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. We have more problems now than what they "fixed". Things are missing from our car, including the knob from our radio. Real funny. Our review mirror was just sitting in the front seat. They gave us an older battery; ours was brand new, the one we have now is not. It seemed like such a good deal $850 to get the complete brakes system redone, but it was too good to be true. Now we're paying what we "saved" and then some to fix what they did. read more

I wish I could give no stars. I frequent this business often and last week is the first time I had an issue. I got my front brake pads and rotors done and when I left a large screw came out while I was turning the corner. Since this happened on a Friday evening I was unable to take it back as Saturday was the holiday. I called and left a message and sent an email to have someone contact me Monday. I didn't receive any phone calls so I took the time to call on my break. When I called I was out on hold for 12 minutes and no one ever came back to the phone. I didn't have time to call back because I was at work. So after work I went up there to have them check the vehicle to make sure all screws were tightened. While up there I encountered two employees who were the ones that apparently worked on my vehicle. Somehow they both managed to have an attitude because the job was not done correctly the first time and I asked for a manager. Then one employee proceeded to say fix your own mutha***** car, n****. He stormed off and bumped into me as he left. Myself being a black man as well as the employee I was confused as to why he felt the need to call me out of my name. Once the manager got there, he apologized and gave me my money back. He also advised that I could come back and he, himself would make sure everything on the car was tightened. I go back today and the same 2 employees that was there Monday we're talking crap to me saying they should've beat my ass yesterday. The so called manager that was there yesterday was not there but some other guy(who kept flashing his gun on his hip) was there and claimed he was in charge and kept asking what the problem was since i got my money back. I advised him that the guy that was there yesterday told me I could come back to make sure everything was tight. His employees were still talking crap in the background and he let them. He didn't check to see if anything was tight on my car, he visually looked at it and said everything is tight. I have sent way too much business there to be treated this way. Wife bought me 3 groupons, well I had a stripped oil pan plug, and asked them to replace it since they had to take it out to change the oil and I was willing to pay extra. the first time they told me they forgot, second time they told me it was fine. The third time they told me the bolt was too far gone, and they damaged my oil pan trying to get it out. They put in the old plug and told me I'd have to pay over 400 for them to replace the oil pan since it was dented and the plug is now stuck. read more

Getting on I-75 north at 14 Mile I heard a clunk which was immediately followed by a low tire pressure warning. I exited at Rochester Road and pulled into the first driveway I found, luckily that was Mr. Brakes driveway. They were able to fix my tire and while I was there I asked them look at the brakes and the dash warning lights I had been ignoring. They tracked the warning lights to a bad wheel bearing and also replaced the rear brakes. They correctly diagnosed and fixed the problem on the first attempt. Their prices were on par with other auto repair places. I will definitely go back here the next time I need auto repair. read more

"Goodyear Tire Giant" is not a place to spend your money, if you are looking for good service. I purchase a set of 4 "NEW" tires ($570), and paid for a wheel alignment. Every 2 week I had to put air into the front tires. Cost me an extra $19 for them to fix the problem. 3 months later front tire worn, had to get wheel alignment from Belle Tire ($69) This place never did give my truck the wheel alignment, that I paid for.
