Welcome to the neighborhood, Mr. B!! Just finished a delightful meal. Got the oxtail and jerk combo that comes with plantains and rice and beans. Got the Mac and cheese and cornbread. This meal deserves a breakdown. That Mac and cheese was a little on the dry side but it wasn't bad, it just wasn't the best. That was the only bad thing about the whole evening. The jerk chicken was spicy jerk but not unbearable and incredibly juicy. That oxtail was so delightful, I'm going to need more of that very soon. The rice and beans were delicious and got two heaping scoops and plantains. The service was great and I am sad that this place was empty on a weekday dinner time. They were running on a limited menu but I am coming back for that bbq combo. Mark my words. The restaurant was spacious and clean. Parking could be a little tricky but we parked in the street and paid for parking , the food was so good that I am not even mad about it. The jerk chicken was delicious along with the sides. I was going to get some fries but passed on it since they were $8 and would have been $10 after tax which is just a little too rich for my blood. I drove from Skokie bypassing some restaurants that served jerk chicken close by. Had read the reviews and called in an order. Got 1/2 jerk chicken meal. The owner was super nice and we chatted for a while. I took the food home and was disappointed. Had all dark meat and only rice & peas as a side for around $19. The jerk sauce was greasy and more like a bland gravy. Parking around there is awful but since I won't be returning it doesn't matter. Maybe it was an off day although I arrived shortly after he opened. Went to Jamaican Jerk on Dempster a few days ago and it will be my go to especially since it's about 7 minutes from my home. The best jerk chicken I ever had was Scotchies but it's a famous Jamaican spot. Gave him an extra star because he was a super nice guy. read more

I've had jerk chicken in the past and this place SURPASSED every expectation I've ever had! I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Rice & Beans and plantains to go. You could also eat inside, very clean and able space to accommodate a larger group. It was such an amazing balance of spicy and sweet (plaintains). I was welcomed upon entry and had the host explain the menu. Super simple combos and cool bottled sodas From Jamaica. I'd recommend the owner place the fridge closer to the front of the coubtwr as it is hard to read the labels and types of cool sodas. I will definitely bring my family and friends back. Don't let the parking intimidate you, there is public parking on Lawrence (near the liquor store) and in front if the old CVS (on the street of course). The restaurant is large and new. It is very clean and bright. The cook, Mr. B is the cook and owner. He is very kind. All the food in his kitchen tastes amazing. We had the jerk chicken which was spicy and succulent and a nice portion size. The plantains were so sweet and tasted almost like caramel candy. The rice was cooked so soft and fluffy and there was a hint of coconut taste in it. The collard greens were cooked tender and a bit spicy. Everything balanced well with the spicy chicken and collard greens and the sweet plantains and the rice. Well balanced meal! I will definitely make this a more regular spot to have lunch and dinner. Best time to have full access to menu would be around 1:00pm because some things are still cooking earlier in the day. read more

Ordered the lunch special jerk wings with fries and Cole slaw w/side of collard greens. Wings were well flavored but very small, fries were crinkle regular flavor. Jerk chicken, ox tail, curried goat, plantains, mac n cheese and collars. There wasn't a miss among them. Every single thing slapped. The jerk chicken was rocklh in flavor woth a balanced spice that didnt overwhelm. They gave, what i think was a jerk salsa to accompany everything. Bright acidity with a igual kick if you want to fire stuff up. Curried goat was outstanding amd the oxtail;spectacular! All rich in flavor and fall off the bone. The plantains were ripe and sweet. The collards had a rich stew flavor and the mac was on point. We waited an additional 20 min because they were out of patties and theres no way i wasnt going to try them. Well worth the wait! Tried for the first time because it's new in my neighborhood and long story short, the worst Caribbean food I've tasted! Everything except for the plantains lacked favor, no seasoning whatsoever so ever. I had the oxtail and chicken combo. The chicken was cooked very well but still no flavor and the oxtails looked like baby knuckles...no meat and they too, lacked flavor. Establishments are remembered for either being exceptional great or exceptionally bad. Unfortunately, the place will be remembered for the latter. I probably will not revisit.
