Shot out to Shattaz for a wonderful Sunday lunch. Ended up here on an accident after our table was given away at a nearby restaurant. We impressed with the range of menu items. On this occasion, Kyla was our server and she very friendly and informative. We started off with the coconut shrimp which was freshly fried and perfectly cooked. I paired my shrimp with some hot sauce (habanero) at the table. Don't skip this appetizer. For food, I grabbed the red snapper fish with two sides: yams & macaroni and cheese. The snapper comes in two sizes (small or large). I got the small which was plenty. The fish and the yams were great. Mac and Cheese was just okay. I really enjoyed Red Snapper it is one of the fish I grew up eating as a child. Snapped has a lot of sharp bones so be prepared. My husband was happy he didn't order the fish. He grabbed the jerk chicken and was thoroughly happy with his selection. I tried his chicken and it was flavorful but not overdone. We would hands down come back here. They often have live music and Kyla recommend Karoke Fridays. As of now, they are pending a liquor license so BYOB. However seems like cocktails will be flowing soon at this venue.

Our hostess /waitress (Kyla)was pulling double duty and was amazing . She was knowledgeable about the huge menu and made great recommendations. The restaurant is spacious and has great art. Very enjoyable. The food is excellent. I got the jerk chicken breast . They were seasoned to perfection. Mac and cheese was great , as were the plantains. Try this place !

We were excited to have a Jamaican spot on the Northside so when my brother asked me to join him into checking this place out for dinner, I couldn't wait. Upon entering we were warmly greeted by the host and seated asap. Our server came right away as there weren't a lot of people dining in at the time. She was super friendly and easy to talk to, and answered any questions we had regarding the menu. For appetizers, we got the beef patties, and for dinner I ordered the jerk chicken wings with the rice and peas and plantain bananas for sides. Hubby got the curry chicken. We weren't blown away, unfortunately. The beef patties were decent. The jerk chicken wings were cold. It seemed like they were sitting there for a minute and they just heated them up in the microwave when I ordered them. I couldn't really get past the coldness and I couldn't gage the flavor as I already had a mental block. Hubby's curry chicken was okay - according to him. There was a slight damp odor that I kept getting a whiff off at the restaurant that I was a little disturbed by. From where we were sitting, looked like there is a bar/ dance floor area in the back. During dinner, reggae jams were playing in the background. Overall, a little disappointed. Since they were new to the area I was expecting more. May come back for the beef patties in the future if I had a strong craving for them.

Went to this place on a random weekend afternoon and it was surprisingly empty. We ordered to-go. The host lady was sweet as pie and the service was spot on. The food was very tasty. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our jerk chicken, rice and peas and yams. This was the first time I ever tried brown stew chicken and I've been feigning since I tried it. We're going back today for round 2!! We've finally found a great jerk spot close to our home. And I believe on fridays, it's live music. We will definitely check that out soon!

We were in the mood for Jamaican the other night. We don't have a ton of options our way, but saw a new spot and decided to try it out. According to the owner they've been open for like 6 weeks. When you order Jamaican you never know what's going to be available so we decided to go in and order. There is plenty of seating on the inside including at the bar. The place was pretty empty around 5:00. There had been a couple people picking up to go orders. They ended up having everything. We order the oxtail meal with rice and peas and cabbage. We also ordered catfish with Mac and cheese and yams. We also got a beef party to share. The oxtails were good. I'm used to oxtails being more savory and these tasted like they were cooked in the same liquid used to cooked the stewed chicken. The catfish was good. The cabbage had some nice kick and the rice and peas were solid. Mac and cheese can always be hit or miss but this one was really good. It wasn't a baked Mac and cheese, more of noodles in cheese sauce. Overall this was a solid spot and if you're in the mood for Jamaican in the Irving Park neighborhood, definitely try this place out.

    Goat Curry

This place is amazing! I got the Curry Goat and the meat patty! Sooo good!! Full of flavor and spices! The owners are some of the nicest people i've ever met too.

    Jerk chicken dinner

The food- I got the jerk chicken dinner which comes with two sides. The jerk chicken was flavorful, good grill bark, spice level was decent without spice. The accompanying sauce put the chicken over the top. Also got Yams and Mac and Cheese. The Yams were tender and just the right amount of sweet. The Mac and Cheese were not my favorite type of Mac and cheese as I prefer baked Mac and cheese but were very creamy and seasoned well. The Service- the owners of this spot were very welcoming, nice and attentive. A nice new addition to the neighborhood. They deserve all your support as a new Buisness and new Buisness owners. Go check the food out, it's a big menu and I will definitely be back to try some other options in the future.

Yet, the bartenders greet us with such a warm and friendly energy that I know with absolute certainly that I have been a regular at this bar for years. Decades. Centuries. I know within my soul that this was my go-to bar in a past life (and hopefully in the next). Just as welcoming as the awesome people are the $1 PBRs and $3 shots of tequila. And of course they hand out free hot dogs every night at midnight, which in my (intoxicated) mind was cemented as the definitive Chicago dog, even if it comes with no toppings whatsoever. And fittingly complementing the amazing energy of the bar is a 10 hour Youtube video of that memed Ukrainian kid dancing at a club playing endlessly on the TVs. Rocking sunglasses and looking like a stud, absolutely grooving without a single care in the world, and effortlessly matching every single song on the bar's playlist. That kid truly embodies the spirit of this bar. No matter what day it is, what time of day it is, or who visits, the bar's energy always works. Vibing to Black Eyed Peas on a Monday night never felt better. Imma be... back one day, rest assured. I genuinely can't wait for the next time I'm greeted with, "Welcome back."

Maybe going shortly after a trip to Italy ruined me a little lol, but I didn't fully understand the hype. The pasta was good, just not life-changing. I've honestly had better pasta elsewhere in Chicago. The agnolotti was my favorite. I liked the balance of flavors with the ricotta filling, although I thought the roe was a little unnecessary. It could've used a different topping or supplement that complemented the dish better. The pierogies were also pretty good. They had decent flavor and were cooked well (actually al dente, which I appreciated). The sauce itself was good, but it wasn't distributed evenly, so some bites had much more flavor than others. The carbonara was just okay to me. It lacked flavor, and I wish the sauce had been thicker and more cohesive. It broke. I did appreciate that the pasta was properly cooked, but overall, I thought all of the sauces could've been seasoned better. I might come back to try some of the other dishes, but I'm not exactly rushing to make another reservation.
