This was an excellent surprise. Very hard to find quality Chinese in South Florida. Asian fusion is everywhere, but that's no substitute for great Chinese. We had chicken wings, ribs, pork fried rice, and wonton soup. I didn't have any of the wings, however they looked tasty and my brother said they were very good. The rice was phenomenal. So many restaurants get this wrong. The onions were cooked properly and the pork was large and well cooked. The rice itself was fluffy and well prepared. The ribs were tender and grilled perfectly. The only issue is they could have had more sauce. The service was also good. Granted there were very few diners at this particular time. The wonton soup was tasty and well flavored. Another rarity based upon my experience. All in all I'll definitely come back even though it's an hour trip. It just won't be as often as I would like. read more

Being in the mood for Chinese food I decided to order from Mr Chef and give it a try. It is tough to find a good Chinese restaurant in or near the Aventura area for most Chinese restaurants near here offer more an American Chinese cuisine. The menu of this establishment is not extensive and I did not ask if they had a Chinese menu so I cannot at this time say if they had more traditional plates to offer. But I shall say that the food was delicious and fresh and it was not salty. The flavors were just right. I was astonished to see good slices of pork in the pork lo mein and no fat. Many other places would put small pieces of pork and half of it would be fat but here, all of the pork was the meat itself and no fat. The salt and pepper calamari was good but the quantity is more for a one person so if you are ordering for a group of hungry people than you may want to order more than one. I would recommend the General Tso's chicken as one of your dishes. read more

Placed an order with a person at the restaurant. Part of the order was missing when I arrived to pick it up. The manager refused to even speak with regarding the missing order. The restaurant refused to expedite the missing item. I waited at the counter for 40 minutes for the missing item. The food was cold by the time we got to eat. They are rude and unhelpful. Clearly customer service is not Mr Chefs strong point. After being extremely loyal customers eating here multiple times a month we experience our last unpleasant visit. On trying to order from their new online system I noticed an additional $3 charge. So I called to inquire about it before checking out and was told by the gentleman that it was a invalid fee that would be removed once I got to the restaurant. He said to just go ahead and place my order like regular and choose pay inside. So I did as I was instructed and when I got to the restaurant a female by the name of Alex I believe told me that I was given the wrong information and that she would not be removing the fee. We went back and forth. Even the guy who told me the wrong info informed her that he told me it would be removed but she did not budge. I know it's only 3$ but it's the point that I could have avoided this fee with the right information and placed my order over the phone when I called or in person. At no fault to my own I was charged extra And to say there's nothing she could do about the system is a lie. Because had I not come in to pick up the order they had to have some way of canceling it out so why not do that and ring me up how I was told I would be. Regardless clearly they do not care about customer satisfaction or service so I will not be spending another dollar here. And urge you to use caution before hand too. read more

I must say the food is okay but no one understands what you want when you order for delivery.On Christmas Eve I put my order in at 1 PM to be delivered at 4:30. My food came on time but I received an item i did not order and one item was missing. I am still waiting for a refund on my credit card for the missing item and when I call it's nothing but total confusion on the other end of the phone. I was shown receipts by text that it was refunded but no show on my end. To me this is very frustrating and not for nothing but I only ordered 3 items. read more

Today, I called before the opening time for takeout. I was told the delivery time would be 45 minutes to an hour , after an hour I called and was advised it had already been delivered. The person I spoke with was very short with me and she told me the driver would NOT return the food. After confirming the address with her again, I was then told the wrong address back (it's an office that we order from all the time). She then had an attitude about the driver having to redeliver the food, which resulted in me waiting 2 hours for food and the location is 10 minutes away. NEVER AGAIN read more

My husband raved over this place. He claimed his coworkers and himself enjoyed the food and service. He works in Aventura 5 mins from mall, we live 8 mins from his job. I know this cause I always use Waze with concern of traffic and living in a busy area. I attempted to order take out and was told they do not deliver to me area. Terrible Customer Service. They have no idea what Customer Service is. I placed a delivery order and requested hot oil. They didn't deliver it with the hot oil. When I called to ask why, they stated I had to pay extra for it. When dining, they do not charge for hot oil. So when asked about this discrepancy, they said I would have to pay for hot oil for delivery orders. I would give them 0 Stars if allowed. read more

Miami just doesn't get Chinese food right, which is so disappointing. I've had Mr. Chefs twice, the first time was take out and disappointing but not terrible so we decided to try it again. This time my husband and I dined here one evening and decided we'd never go back. I know times are tough for restaurants - it's hard to find good help. But when we went to dinner at 7:30, nearly half of the tables were dirty and hadn't been cleared. Our food was not good. We ordered the shrimp shu mai - rubbery and cold. We got the general tso's (not spicy at all) and szechaun chicken (generally not satisfying.) To top it off the service was terrible and they were not busy to explain it away. I had the general Tao's chicken. The best thing I can say is the broccoli was not over cooked. The meal had very little flavor to speak of.

Was greeted disrespectfully. Lo mien & crispy chicken & pan fried dumplings & hot & sour soup were excellent. Teriyaki chicken terrible. Instead of how it should be, chicken MARINATED in teriyaki it was dried slices of chicken non marinated with a teriyaki sauce on the side. Terrible very dry chicken. Service also bad. Had many plates on the table & had to keep stacking them, waiter(s) did not remove any plates for more than 25 minutes after we were finished & were still on table when we left. Very disappointed. I left them one star due to the fact that they can't tell time. There's a large sign in front of the store that says open at 12pm, ok, I was there at 12:30pm, and the doors were locked, no lights inside either. So I said f it, and I went to pf Chang where we had a great lunch. Don't be so lazy and open when you post it! Ok, I finally had the food at mr chef and the food was excellent! This will be a short review based on I only had one item and hot tea. I was the only person in the restaurant early evening, meaning service was quick. Started with a hot black tea, which came out piping hot just like I like it. Next was the egg rolls, again piping hot fried to perfection. Unfortunately thats all I had a chance to eat before I had to leave unexpectedly. I plan on returning soon to try the cashew chicken. Until then, thank you Mr. Chef. read more

I've never ordered Chinese food and got a partial order of steamed rice in the box. Not even filled up. The food was OK. The portion size was OK. Over priced. Hard to get to. Not impressed & not worth the 1 block walk. Sooo I was happy to see a Chinese in the neighborhood since there is none...seemed someone did some research before opening up just anything here. But unfortunately again...chinese food mission...fail. The wait for the food was horrendous. The waitress was kind though. The beef Szechuan (the Chinese test) was not horrible but the meat had that metallic frozen glare on it. The shrimp fried rice was decent. But overall the food was overpriced and just not that great.
