My wife and I just enjoyed scrumptious Full Biscuit Breakfasts plates with Caramel Macchiato drinks. I gotta say the price was a tad less than our comparable brunch at IHOP; but the food was better. Hence, we will be hopping back here to The Biscuit House soon.

After our doctor's appointment in Schertz this morning, my sister and I decided to visit the Biscuit House on SH-3009. I went for the Sunshine Pizza paired with a Snickers Mocha, while my sister opted for the Simple Trio along with a French Kiss drink. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, taking the time to thoroughly explain the menu items and beverage choices. The food was delicious and arrived at our table promptly. The Snickers Mocha was by far the best I've had in ages, and my sister really enjoyed her "French Kiss" as well. Although it was a bit on the pricey side, we will definitely be returning.

Came across this spot as our original choice had way too long of a wait. And I must say I'm very pleased with this find. From the time we walked in the door the service was great. It's a quiet little spot that serves up great breakfast items at very reasonable prices. The food was clearly made with quality ingredients, with great flavor and heart portions. This is definitely on my list of breakfast/brunch spots moving forward; even if I have to drive 20-25 mins

The Biscuit House offers a good basic breakfast in a sparkling clean environment. They have a coffee bar and extensive coffee drink menu. On entering you order at the counter. Coffee is self serve unless a specialty drink. This threw me off because I expected a full service experience and my pet peeve is being offered a tipping opportunity before I've even tried the food or been served. It was also a bit awkward standing there to figure out what I wanted from their wide menu. But the young lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. Food arrived quickly and the staff checked on me and refilled my water a few times. I'm not sure if free refills on coffee but that would be a plus. My check with tip was $21. They also have a lovely patio which I'm sure you'll enjoy.

    Biscuit and hash browns

Let's start with the biscuit, like the name of this place. No flavor or fluff to it. Not special or different from a can. Gravy did not have hardly any sausage or flavor again. Hash browns also no flavor, if you like them crispier ask when ordering. However, be careful with that because after they redid them they tasted like old or burnt cooking oil. Bad aftertaste. Couldn't eat them. I left over half my plate and my stomach hurting. Would not come back. Staff were nice and the coffee drink they made was good.

The food was tasty, the service was excellent, and the ambiance cozy. I am surprised this place does not have a higher rating on Yelp. Overall, it was an excellent choice for breakfast or early lunch.

Biscuit House was recommended by some friends and it did not disappoint. The parking wasn't too bad and we walked in at about 9:40 on a Saturday morning. Which was just in time because it started to fill up shortly after! The staff were very welcoming and helped me to get my husband who is in a wheelchair in and to a table. You order first then you go sit down. It is a nice seating area to sit and have breakfast and great conversation. Everything on the menu looked amazing but of course we both wanted the same thing. We ordered the full biscuit breakfast. The only difference is he likes scrambled eggs and I like mine over medium. This included biscuit with gravy, two sausage and two bacon with the eggs. I definitely recommend you try this place out if you are ever in the area. I also got an iced coffee to go! I ordered the French Kiss and it is delicious!

First time here. Not too crowded. Greeted as soon as we walked in she reviewed the menu with us. We asked about non-pork options which they had. we ordered a basic breakfast that had gravy on top of the biscuit covered with hashbrowns. But the gravy had pork in it so my husband did not eat that. and all the food is pretty good. My husband and I shared a meal. The place was clean and we would return again.

Meat Lovers omelette with hash browns and a biscuit

While I was looking forward to trying this place, it's important to acknowledge that I have a love-hate relationships with biscuits. I often find them too dense and dry for my liking. But simultaneously biscuits and gravy is one of my breakfast go-to's. I know that's weird, but it's what it is. First, This place is a walk in and order at the counter type of joint. They only serve breakfast and an assortment of specialty coffees. My wife and I ordered a biscuit with gravy and a meat-lovers omelette and split it all. Both were very good. Let's start with the biscuit, since it's what this place is all about. The biscuit was pretty good- the density and dryness was not overwhelming. The outside had a buttery crunch and the inside was soft and warm. The gravy was very good with tiny "marbles" of sausage. The gravy also had the hint of a "tangy" element- we are thinking it's a dash of cayenne, which gave the gravy a brownish/reddish hue. The omelette was loaded with cheddar cheese, sausage, bacon and ham. It was cooked to a perfect hardness with butter (just be this places secret ingredient). The hashbrowns were fine- nothing special, but still good. The omelette also came with a biscuit on the side, which was a true test for us- we ate the top half with strawberry jelly and it was good, however we left the bottom of the biscuit untouched- again this our issue with biscuits in general. All in all We will return as there are some other items on their menu we would like to try- a biscuit sandwich and French toast to name a couple. Give it a try- particularly if you're a biscuit person- you will likely love it!

biscuit sandwich combo - added salt and pepper biscuit slipped - didn't affect the flavor but a bit messy

The good: The beer selection was solid, and the cucumber margarita was genuinely delicious. The not-so-good: * Wedge Salad: The salad itself was fine, but the highlight--bacon--was extremely sparse. Six tiny squares were placed on the edge of the plate, which felt oddly rationed and not nearly enough to enjoy throughout the salad. * Mussels: This was the most concerning dish. We expected mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce, but instead received them in a buttery yellow-orange sauce with a very unpleasant odor. The smell was not "fishy" but something far more off-putting--honestly resembling manure. I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and don't send food back lightly, but this was not normal. The server said the smell was typical, suggesting vinegar may have made it "pungent." Ultimately, the manager told us we still needed to pay for the dish, which we did without argument, though the experience was disappointing. * Shrimp Appetizer: It was fine, but nothing memorable or worth raving about. * Burger: The patty was overcooked, the bun was dry, and the fries ended up being the best part--crispy and greasy. Overall, we were hoping for a much better experience. While the drinks were enjoyable, the food quality and response to legitimate concerns left a lot to be desired.

But once we sat down, it made sense. Everything is made to order, and you can taste the difference. There was only one server handling the entire floor, and when a rush hit all at once, it definitely got busy fast. But here's the thing... she handled it with grace. Even when you could tell she was juggling a lot, she stayed attentive, kind, and kept checking in on us. That kind of effort deserves recognition. Now let's talk about the real star of the show... The Texas French Toast. Oh. My. Goodness. Thick, golden, perfectly cooked slices topped with homemade whipped cream and fresh berries that tasted like they were picked that morning. It wasn't just good, it was indulgent in the best way. Sweet without being overwhelming. Rich but balanced. I couldn't even finish it (which says a lot), and happily boxed the rest up. The only regret? I ate all the berries first. Rookie mistake. My husband ordered one of the hash plates and said it was solid comfort food... hearty, flavorful, and filling. He couldn't finish his either, so I'm definitely sneaking a few bites later. Overall, we left impressed. The food feels intentional. The flavors feel thoughtful. It's the kind of local spot you want to root for. And the fact that they serve pork lumpia for lunch? Say less. We'll be back for that. If you're looking for a cozy, made-from-scratch brunch spot in Universal City, this one is worth the wait. Good food takes time, and this place proves it. ***This review is based on my taste buds. The man who I assume could be the owner, was a server, cashier, and the cleaning crew. Haha. He looked a bit serious but he was very kind. Food: 2/5 I hate to admit it, but just like some of the lower reviews said- the food was so bland. I mean, not a taste of seasoning. I ordered a chicken fried biscuit with gravy, and it came with potatoes. My sister ordered a bacon croissant. I'll start off with mine. They did give me a rather large hunk of chicken; the batter slid right off and the chicken itself was tasteless, I do mean absolutely tasteless :( The biscuit was so dry, and crumbly. Possibly day old? Not sure. I slapped some of their homemade jam (Now that jam was wonderful! ) however they don't give too much of anything (butter, gravy, jam) so I do feel the sandwich would be better if it was maybe made smaller? I'm not sure. It was just a huge biscuit with nothing to slather it with. The gravy portion is really not fair, lol. Since the biscuit was super dry and again SUPER bland, I do feel they should make the gravy a bigger portion. My sister said her bacon croissant "was nothing special. I could've made it at home." I also want to throw out there that their drinks also need some help. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, my sister did a "freshly brewed tea" ah. The tea was bitter as heck and the lemonade tasted like it was pure strawberry syrup. :( Price: 2/5 I spent $30.00 on two plates, that Indeed we could've just made at home for 1/3 of the price. I know food is at an all time high right now, but this meal was not worth my hard earned money. We couldn't find one thing we actually enjoyed about it. Overall: 1/5. I hate to be honest because I really want to see small shops thrive; whenever I go to a restaurant I ask myself "Would you come back?" And the answer for Happy Cafe is absolutely not. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks, everything was just not for us. The restaurant itself needs some deep cleaning, an upgraded menu, and maybe some new tables (ours were peeling and super sticky) however, if I'm being honest I can get past that- but I simply will not return due to the food. As some of the others said, I don't know how this place is so highly rated (love that for them) but it just wasn't for me and my family, maybe it will be for yours.
