In all fairness- the stars are mainly for the WTF band who was playing that night- they were great! And I liked the smaller crowd although don't expect that on every night. This is definitely a "last person standing" kinda vibe, and you can buy drinks by the bucket. The guy behind the bar is a total ass hole, me and my buddy walked in to order two drink buckets which contained tito's vodak, we asked if one of them can be swapped with tequila, he instantly said no in the rudest way possible & his explanation was "thats how the drink is made so do you want it or do you want something else?" I instantly said no & walked out. Had went there and was greeted at the door with someone collecting IDs and Cover charges. Turns out the bar was not doing this. The individuals were employees getting off for the night haggling visitors. We told the bar keep and was quickly greeted with hostility, almost to the point of violence, completely by the bar staff. There was one bounce that showed concern. It could be speculated the bar keeps were potentially in on the fraud of taking IDs and cover charges. BE WARNED ABOUT THIS PLACE!! read more

Food is over priced for the quality....the atmosphere and service are sub par. I was surprised when I ordered the perch sandwich and it didn't come with coleslaw, but when I asked they don't even have it on their menu. I'm on the fence with this place. They had the best live music that we found on the island. Ty Stevens I think was his name- was phenomenal. Once we got to finally sit out there on the patio by him we stayed for almost 3 hours. (The problem was everybody wanted to sit outside because the inside was so ungodly loud. There were only two people sitting inside and then the patio was packed even though it wasn't sunny) The food we got to eat was awesome. The walleye BLT was one of the best things I've eaten during my visit to put in bay, as was the Mac for a side. My problem with the place was the horrific volume of the music inside. It was I'm godly loud to the point where the server couldn't even hear us. She kept apologizing for how loud it was. And I'm not old, I can handle some noise. But this was unbearable. They only put the sound down once the live music started. But when the DJ was on- it was cranked up as loud as it can possibly go. Maybe that's your thing if it's night time, but this was like 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday and we just wanted lunch. They were out of everything pulled pork - which was a problem for us because we went for the pulled pork nachos and the pulled pork mac & cheese. My second choice was the pot stickers- which they were also out of. We went with a walleye BLT which ended up being great thankfully, but still disappointed that they had ran out of our first three menu choices. (Don't understand how they ran out before the dinner rush but I digress ) I ordered a absolute lemon drink because it was the special - it wasn't a price special deal, and the drink was in like a baby plastic glass. It was about the size of a bigger shot. not worth it at all. After that when we finally got a spot to see the live music I stuck with angry orchard because I knew they couldn't screw me on the amount of alcohol - even though they did charge six dollars per angry orchard. This was a good place to chill during the day to get away from some of the crowds. It seems this is more of night life bar and I would have given a better review as the bartenders did well. My draw back and warning to patrons is I saw a woman in set a pill down for the bar back to pick up. Now it could have been Tylenol, yet the exchange tried to be too stealth to be that. Anyways I left quickly after that as I didn't want to be around such possibilities. Not saying this is a bad place as everywhere has a possibility of an undesirable, but ladies and gentlemen I suggest being more aware of your surroundings here. Best value for the dollar our group found on the island. Went here for lunch 2 days plus partied here 2 nights. Let me just say, for bar food, this place is pretty good. Had the Fish Fry with fresh perch and fries. That really is fresh perch. Not overloaded with breading and cooked perfectly, I wish it was all you can eat. During the week they do have meal deals during the week so be sure to check out their menu. As far as clubs went, this one seemed to be the most popular the weekend I was there. Plenty of room inside the bar for dancing and mingling as well as great mucis will make for a fun night. Truthfully, I wish i spent a little more time here instead of trying the pub crawl. Went here for lunch with a group of "ladies". I knew from previous visits there aren't many affordable AND tasty restaurant options, but we tried this place based on the reviews. We sat outside on a sunny Friday and had a few cocktails. The menu isn't extensive, but what they have is good. My friends ordered different sandwiches or wraps, and I got a really great salad. My friend got her chicken wrap to take back to the hotel and it about saved my life 2 days later when I had only been surviving on diet sunkist and vodka. Overall pretty decent food and prices. When I pulled up this restaurant/bar on my phone it showed as a 4 star. I figured that was a low risk choice. However, I was so wrong!!! It was the worst meal I've had in a while. I got the chicken bites and french fries and my son got the small cheese pizza. We also ordered a tossed salad to share. This totaled over $40.00. The fries and chicken bites were awful. I'm pretty sure these were frozen and cooked in the microwave. My son's pizza was cold. When we asked for an additional small container of salad dressing they charged us a dollar for it. Mr. Ed's is normally really great, and the service this time was really great. They have a double cheeseburger for $5.99 (with fries $6.99) on Saturday. We do go there & we like going there. The following is the reason they lost a star. Mr. Ed's is the resident Buckeye Bar. That's why we watched the Nebraska game there last year & the Wisconsin game the year before. We sat down to watch the Purdue game this time. About 5 minutes in we noticed they weren't playing the announcers, but Sirius Radio instead. Normally they play the announcers & music during the commercials. We asked the server why they weren't playing the game & walked over to the "DJ" (I put that in quotes, because he wasn't playing the music himself). The "DJ" said they wanted people to "flow in" so they were going to leave the music on. So we told the server we were going to "flow out". We went to Tippers to watch the game. Also, there was a kid selling buckeye necklaces. The doorman told him he had to leave. Apparently, the owner new the kid was there & gave permission. The money from the necklaces goes to the Franklin County Animal Shelter. We just didn't understand how a bar would want to be considered a "Buckeye Bar" & not want to play the announcers. read more

Visited this place for a Saturday night for late night food and drinks. Well let me tell you, this place turns into a dance club. Like a lights out, strobe lights, DJ playing dance club. First of all, this review is mainly just for the owner. I came in to Ohio from California on a vacation, and we needed to check out Put In Bay again (it'd been 10 years since I had been). We were looking for some simple burger joint to grab a burger and a beer and head out. Well, they were doing construction, so the place looked like hell, and then the only guy around to ask if we could grab something to eat looked like the owner, who walked around on his phone, not acknowledging us at all. We had to shout out at him,"Hey are you guys open?" We got a raised finger telling us to hold on a second while he gabbed on the phone. We asked again, "When are you guys going to open?" To which he just answers, "We're having a private party. We're not serving." Oh, ok. Well, then why have your doors open to the general public with no signage or anything. I don't know. Places like this are popping up all along the area. Attitude = no service or customers. read more

Worst experience on an island full of great food. We went for lunch and I ordered the buffalo chicken dip. It had no actual chicken in it (according to them them they put the chicken in a food processor and mix it in??) and there were just lots of chunks of cream cheese! Mr. Ed's was recently remodeled and expanded. By day this place is is your typical restaurant by night they are you typical dance club that there are so many of on this little island. I had a very good Reuben sandwich here and even though the place was packed for lunch the service was still very good. Our waitress was very friendly and we got our food very quickly. At night this place was rather indistinguishable from the rest of the drinking establishments that line the strip here. read more

Unbelievable! My friend found a hair in his chicken dip, pulled it out while the waitress was at the table, said something to the waitress and sent back both bowls. The ass of a kitchen manager came out, didn't introduce himself and asked the color of the hair and if we still had the hair!!!! We ate at this restaurant during a July 4th trip to Put-In-Bay. If rating Food, I would have given 3 stars. The food is typical bar food fare. The Grilled Chicken Salad was not bad. However, the service we received from our server was very poor. If I could leave a negative star for server service, I would. We waited for almost 15 minutes after sitting just to be greeted, be given a menu and receive water. The server seemed pre-occupied with.....who knows what, as it wasn't crowded when we had arrived. She brought out the food and checked on us once. When she brought the bill, one food item was rung up at the incorrect price. When this was brought to the attention to the cashier, the server came over and asked what :my "problem" was. I quickly advised her that "I" had no problem and she was told that the food item had not rung up at the price advertised on the Specials Page. The Manager was present and seemed surprised that the cash registers were not programmed to ring up the price of the Special correctly and she immediately refunded the overpayment. I was going to give the overpayment to the server, but when said server came over to us again she was very rude (right in front of all of us). I was disgusted by her behavior and pocketed the refund for myself. This server needed a double serving of attitude adjustment. read more

Came here on business during the off season so the place was pretty empty. Ordered the burger special and it was great! Really good sized burger and cooked to perfection. A bit pricey at $12 with bacon and cheese but I would definitely come back again and order the same thing. read more

I'm rating this based on 2 different experiences in the same week. On Wednesday night, 6/21/17 they had a live band which was amazing! I didn't order food, but the bartenders and their service was pretty good. Went back for late lunch/early dinner on 6/24 and experienced pretty much the most awful service ever! Took forever to get our drinks once ordered, food came out in the slowest manner, and most of it was wrong, and even worse, cold! We had 3 orders of cold french fries, a cold mac & cheese, a cold fish sandwich, and two wrap/sandwiches which were incorrect. No one apologized, but we did hear a story about an exploding soda machine, which the server claimed is the reasoning the food took so long. Worst part, they added the gratuity to our table of 6. So yeah, they can get away with giving crappy service, and not worry about it because they're basically going to steal a tip anyways. read more

We were unfortunate enough to be among your presence during our dinner at The Upper Deck on Saturday night (8/15/15). The fact alone that you blared your 5 boat horns directly at the 70+ diners on the patio during our Country's National Anthem should be reason enough to boycott your establishments but not only did not blare your horn directly at the patron's dining outside during this beautiful ceremony while staff members lowered our nation's flag, but you continued to do so for the next 30 mins. Glad you had ear plugs in. We did not. I am sadden that you do not have more respect for your country and the patron's visiting this island. The Commodore Resort, Mist at Put in Bay, Victory Station Hotel, Golf Cart Depot, Mr. Ed's Port Clinton, Commodore Perry, Dock's Beach House, Beachfront Resort will surely never receive my business.
