My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to trying ZwanzigZ Pizza & Brewery, but unfortunately our experience left a lot to be desired. We dined inside and still ended up with at least three mosquito bites each, plus flies and sweat bees constantly buzzing around. That alone made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. The woman's restroom stall had no lock, which was uncomfortable. Service was unwelcoming -- not outright rude, but there was no friendliness or warmth. The food didn't help redeem the visit. The garlic bread was simply a hoagie bun with cheese, warmed just enough to melt the cheese, leaving the bread soggy instead of toasted. The pizza tasted as if it had been microwaved, with the cheese having that unappetizing plastic-like texture. Between the bugs indoors, the restroom issue, the lackluster service, and the disappointing food, this will not be a place we return to. read more

Honestly baffled by the positive reviews. Went on a Sunday evening with a couple friends after being recommended by a couple coworkers. No table service, have to order at the bar and take a number to a table. Half the open tables hadn't been cleaned and it didn't look like anybody was actively trying to. Can't even get a beer right away at the bar, you order and wait 5 minutes for somebody to bring it out. Ordered cheese sticks and a hamburger pizza. Both were cafeteria quality or below. Pizza was probably 5 minutes under baked, scant toppings to the point it was basically just a cheese pizza. No real flavor, no seasoning, tasted like it was probably just canned tomato sauce and cheap cheese. Can't express how disappointing it was. Cheese sticks basically the same way, just a small underbaked cheese pizza cut into strips. Had to go back to the bar and buy marinara sauce for dipping, which came in tiny plastic to go cups. Styrofoam plates and plastic forks (in plastic packaging). Literally everything is just cheap to-go packaging. Beer was ok. Nothing exceptional. Had a variety across the table and nobody was notably impressed. I was honestly embarrassed and had to apologize to my coworkers several times. They were polite but I know everyone was pretty disappointed. I had thought about just going to Upland before hearing about this place, and I massively regret wanting to try something new. 2 stars just because I suppose it could have been worse. read more

Zwanzig's has fallen off! They used to have the best pizza in town, but I can't say that anymore. It started going downhill awhile back and has gone off a cliff recentlt. I think the owners focus on the brewery business and not the restaurant and the quality is suffering. Maybe get some new management. The old crew did a great job. Now, it is pretty bad at lunch and it is worse at dinner. They can't make a good pizza anymore. I may go grab a growler from time to time, but I will not be going back for pizza. Sad! This is a nice local family restaurant and brewery located on the outskirts of downtown Columbus. Please do not ask me to pronounce the name though. They have their own private parking lot in the back and free street parking available in the front. There is also a decent sized dining area with televisions on the walls and a nice patio out to the side of the restaurant. You will find a tasting room to the right as you come in the front door, with booths and a bar. They periodically host tastings and special events here. The staff there is so friendly and helpful. They periodically checked in on us while we were there and one even came to our table and told the kids a dad joke. They do not have table service here so if you plan on dining in like I did then you have to place your order at the counter and they will bring your food out to you when it is ready. I ordered a lasagna pizza and some breadsticks for the littles. I also got one of their craft sodas and I am glad that I did. It was so good. I will say that this place is a bit on the higher end, but you pay for quality. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for me to get my food and it was delicious. I was expecting the pizza to taste more like lasagna, maybe with some ricotta, but it was still good. The breadsticks were fresh and perfect. This is a nice place to eat some "Za" , they also have salads, calzones, and hoagies. They also have a nice selection of craft beer and wine. A 4.5 rating would be more appropriate, but since that is not an option, I decided to go with a 5 because that it what I feel this restaurant is closer to. I highly recommend checking this place out. The first time we visited was when I was pregnant & my husband & I both said "we are definitely coming back here with kids!" (And we have & it was so easy!) At first glance, it's not intuitive how it works so here's the deal: there's no wait staff so sit wherever you'd like then go to the counter to order and pay. Paper plates, napkins & silverware are all up for grabs near the soda machine. To one side is the bar area and the other side is the open seating. While the conveniences allow for families, it's a great atmosphere for any size group of people and it's very clean. The food is GREAT! I've had friends complain about the prices being high, but everything is so shareable that it never bothered me. My husband & I will split a calzone, appetizer & small salad all for about $20. This was the highest rated non-chain pizza place, so I was excited! I ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza and...yucky. The mushrooms are canned, not fresh. I know some smaller places will use canned because of how tricky it is to deal with produce (if the mushrooms go bad before you use them all) but based off the reviews, I assumed this wasn't a low quality pizza place. But alas. The canned mushrooms were slimy with a bad texture and ugh taste so I picked them all off. The pizza with just pepperoni? I dunno. It was okay. The sauce definitely had its own flavor but I wasn't a huge fan. I mostly ate because I was hungry not because I enjoyed it. The cheese bread was good with a good garlic flavor but no sauce accompanied it. I always think it's weird as hell when pizza places don't give a side of sauce with breadsticks or cheese bread. ZwanzigZ is one of the best kept secrets just a hop, skip, and a jump from Indy and right around the corner-ish from the Edinburgh Outlets. We have been making the short 45 min trek from Indianapolis down to ZwanzigZ for a few years - and will continue to do so...and here are just a few of the reasons why: + Pre-Covid, we loved to just belly up to the bar for a beer while our food cooked and to chat with the locals. Bryan (with a Y) is a regular patron / fixture at the bar - and a joy to talk to. +++ the beer is GREAT and very reasonably priced for craft beer. It is my second favorite brewery of all time good. All of the beers. Mike the brewer knows what he is doing. + Pro-tip: get the "triple threat" if possible (equal parts Chocolate, Blueberry, and Nut Brown ales). It tastes like the best blueberry muffin you've ever had), but beware to not confuse it with the 'triple Z' as that is a house IPA. Much different. ++ the food is fantastic and very well priced. You can build your own calzone or get a pizza - we usually get both. The bread sticks are the perfect snack to hold us over in the car as we drive back to Indy. ++ Growler specials! Tuesday ( I believe) is $6 growler day. WORTH IT. Adding on to say that you could also get pitchers for a deal when eating in pre-covid - so I hope this is still a thing in the after times. ++ During Covid we were making beer runs for friends and once came in with 15 growlers. Beertenders didn't blink an eye - and filled them perfectly. Please note, this is a pizzeria/restaurant first and a place for beers second. It is family friendly and there are separate places to order food and beer as they cannot serve you beer across the counter on the family friendly restaurant side. The cheeses on the pizza were flavorful and sharp enough that you could tell it was more than just mozzarella. There was a bit of depth and nuttiness to the pie. The crust was a little bit undercooked for my tastes, and they are generous to the point of being heavy handed with the toppings. In my opinion Zwanzigz is the best place for pizza in the area. I always get a large cheese pizza with an order of breadsticks. They also make their root beer in house and it tastes great. The restaurant itself is nice too. It has plenty of space. The only thing I can think of as a negative is the wait time on the food is longer than most pizza places, but it's still worth it. A friend was visiting from our-of-town and Columbus was a great halfway point to meet. We met there on a Friday at 12:30 and it was packed. You choose your own seating, then order from the bar counter and your food and drinks are delivered to your table. We ordered first, and the friendly server quickly took our orders and helped us find seating. The. Monday to Friday lunch special is a great deal: a huge slice of pizza, two breadsticks and a drink for $6.99. I added a pint of their house IPA and the total was less than $12. I really liked my pizza and breadsticks. Everything was hot and fresh, and well-seasoned. The beer was fine -- not the best IPA, but a solid choice to pair with my pizza. From the NW side of Indy, ZwanzigZ is just over an hour drive, and about 15 minutes from the Edinburgh Outlet Mall, so this makes for an easy day trip for lunch and shopping. We were on a family road trip and my parents were persuading us to stop in Columbus on the way home, JUST so we could pick up ZwanzigZ pizza, breadsticks, salad and root beer for the home stretch of driving. It didn't take long to persuade us! Is there a better way to end a vacation?! The correct answer is no, no there is not. We called in our order and it was ready within about 35 minutes. The restaurant was packed and the staff were nice and efficient. I noticed that they not only brew their own beers (I had my eye on a chocolate beer... I'll try it next time - sounds interesting!), but they also make four of their own sodas. They've won awards for their homemade root beer and they also have a blue soda and two others. The large cheese pizza was huge and delicious. The best part? There was plentiful cheese and the crust had garlic on it, so tasted just as delicious as breadsticks would. I was also pleased with the veggie salad I got. It came with green peppers, thick, shredded mozarella cheese, and black olives - all which are my ideal toppings and I didn't even order them. This place is definitely a winner! We got half veggie pizza and a half barbecue chicken pizza. I would honestly agree with them that this is one of the best veggie pizzas around! The crust is firm, a bit chewy,and crispy on the outside. There's not a ton of sauce and the cheese is really soft and I feel like the pizza has just enough flavor. Our favorite was the veggie, but the chicken was honestly some of the best chicken breast I've had in a long time - I personally don't like chicken breast that much and I rarely ever eat it, but this one had me coming back for more! We got takeout, but the inside looks like a really nice area to hang out in smaller groups, and the service we received was friendly. The only struggle we had was placing an order via the phone because it kept saying the line was busy and there was no holding music or queue or anything like that. Go for the beer, stay for the food. Except for the salad, which was weirdly packed into a plastic "to-go" box even though we were eating in. Why they would put a salad with warm chicken in a plastic box, I do not know. That was weird. The other weird thing was that when the young lady came to wipe off our table she left the wet rag in front of me and said "Can you wipe that side because I have short arms". WTF? I don't work there. I am getting ready to eat and do not want to handle the bar rag. Are you actually asking a guest to wipe off the table because you aren't motivated enough to walk to the other side of the table? That was a big turn off. One of the people I was with went ahead and wiped off the table, but really? The beers are terrific. We had a flight. They have a set flight or for a little more money you can choose your own beers. We had the set flight and it was very tasty. Generous pours. The only beer we didn't like was the IPA (which is odd, because we love IPAs) but it tasted flat. All of the other beers were great and we ended up taking a howler of "The Ticket" chocolate beer home. The food is decent. Not a huge menu, so not a lot of choices for people with dietary issues. (one of the people in our group is gluten intolerant, but she bit the bullet and had a pizza). I had a calzone and really enjoyed it. The noise level was a bit high, but mainly due to some kind of softball tournament being held down the road and the place was full of kids. With the exception of the server who wanted us to wipe off our own table, the counter service and the guy who drew up my howler were great and very helpful.
