Came here to change my windshield as it got a crack on it. I stayed in the place for at least 3 hrs. The waiting room had free wifi, coffee, water, and clean restroom. Service was professional and courteous. The garage had space to fix at least 3 cars at the same time. My car needed windshield change and integrated dashboard camera calibration. I preface this review with not knowing which Safelight office my appointment responded to my appointment, it is just my experience with Safelite online. I made an appointment for Saturday and I had a window of 12-5 for a technician to arrive to replace my back winshield. I was texted by Safelite at 4:18pm that my technician would be arriving at 4:35pm. NO SHOW. NO CALL. NO customer service on weekends. No customer service at all, apparently. I certainly hope that the technician is ok, I just don't understand how there is not a check and balance to contact the customer who has been waiting 5 hrs for someone to arrive, that no one will be coming. read more

Great service. I had to drop my car off because there the next on-site service was weeks out. Don't believe the commercials where they come to your house or a parking lot where you're forced to park b/c your windshield was smashed. It was very simple to set up an appointment via text. I was kind of bummed to learn that my job would take much longer than I was originally told. I was informed by someone that my front passenger window would only take 30 - 60 mins and that I could wait in their waiting room. So I drove my car to their Great Neck location and found out that the job would actually take 2 - 3 hours. Had I known this was the case, I would have had my wife follow me in her car. Instead I had to Uber it home and wait for a text. The window was professionally installed a day after it cracked so I'm pretty happy with the service. Easy from start to finish. Broke windshield Wednesday, got new windshield installed Thursday. I hit a tree branch overhanging on Belt Parkway and went through Geico app to get windshield repair. Scheduled appointment for the next day. Steven help authorize the service. I called and Webster confirmed the windshield was coming the next day morning and in time to get repaired. Craig called me informing me they don't have staff to start work at 4pm to install. We worked out a way for me to drop off my car at 7am (they open at 8am officially). And picked up later in the day. Replaced broken glass and did a lousy work. Calibration was not done correctly. Come in to recalibrate and was told that they don't see an issue. I explain again the issue and when I start questions in order to understand and make sure the worker understands the issue he start to get aggressive and nasty. I ask to speak with the owner and he said he is the owner. When I asked for name, he refused. Don't go there. I saw few guys when I replaced the windshield coming with issues. I guess I will have my dealer calibrated it again and I will have Safelite pay for this recalibrating invoice. Waste of time! read more

I had a very unfortunate parking experience at Riverside drive in Manhattan. Someone broke my passenger's window hoping to steal something. I went to get my car over the July 4 weekend only to find that my window was shattered to pieces and compartment was open. Nothing was stolen but it's very sad how people can think of stealing or breaking into someone's property. Long story short, I couldn't let my car unfixed for more than a day otherwise,I will have to keep paying for the very expensive garage by my apartment. I called my insurance who fortunately is covering my full glass with no deductible. Geico has partnered with safelite and the nearest facility that has my car's window replacement was in Great Neck. I came in 30 minutes late but the guy was able to work on the car immediately when I said I will be waiting for it. I was told that it will take 90 minutes. There is no restaurants or shops around the area so I had to order food delivery through yelp. Right after finishing my emails (using their free wifi) and having my late lunch, the technician (IVAN) went up to me and say the window is now finished, vacuumed and installed. I couldn't be more happier with my experience at Safelite. The drive was about 50 minutes from where I live but it was all worth it. This was my second time here. Those darn rocks man, they destroy windshields, but safelite has patched theme every time. The staff here is extremely professional and have a great system in place to get you in and out as promised. Took weeks to be able to find the time and a babysitter to get the cracks fixed in our window. The new window came out great and then we get a call a week later that the calibration wasn't done correctly and now we have to bring it back for another 3 hours to get that done. I have no idea when I'm going to have the time to do this again. Extremely disappointed and frustrated. Had used Safelite, specifically from this location in the past, which I had good experiences with, however, the mobile tech they sent in today, Christopher had all sorts of attitude problem, and wasn't helpful at all. Not only that, he refused to replace to my windshield, when the car was completely covered under a 12x12 canopy, fully erected, stating it was his policy not working in not-so ideal weather, even though the rain has stopped when he arrived, and there wasn't a drop since then. I didn't know customers have to be understanding, and tolerate techs' feelings these days. If you needed service on your vehicles, go with other Safelite locations, you might have better luck! read more

Obviously, you want someone who is installing a windshield in your car to know what they're doing, and also take a great deal of pride in their work. Diego at the Great Neck Safelite is such a person. Short version of story: My windshield had been abused enough over 200,000 miles that it was like looking through a pair of glasses that had been sandblasted. My 2004 Mercedes E500 was otherwise flawless, but the windshield was becoming a safety/visibility issue. How to handle the replacement? My local mechanic, who happily installs good aftermarket parts in my car and saves me lots of money, said absolutely NOT to take the car to Safelite for a windshield: only get the one from the Mercedes dealer, and use the mechanic's recommended guy to put it in. Otherwise, there could be real problems - leaks, damage to the car, poor fit, poor alignment of the glass, etc. Problem: the Dealer glass plus the local glass guy would be around $1000. With a $20 online coupon, Safelite was 1/3 that, everything included. Also, I would have to order the Dealer windshield well in advance and then leave the car all day at the repair shop. Safelite would give me an appointment at their shop at MY convenience, and do the whole thing in less than 2 hours. Safelite was affordable enough that I would have called them immediately if I wasn't worried about the quality of glass and quality of work. The Dealer price seemed insane, a rip-off. But my mechanic is usually right about these things. Aargh. Finally, today, I took the plunge: I figured the Great Neck Safelite location would see a lot of MB, BMW, Audi, etc., because it's a luxury-car area, so the technicians should be well-familiar with my car. And despite some self-indulgent whining about having to wait past their appointment time, I didn't see any online reviewer complain about the workmanship there. So I used Safelite Great Neck, and I am so delighted that I did. It ended up being an A+++ experience all around: price, quality, service, caring, pride. Diego, my installer, was ready for me right at the time of my appointment, despite the shop being busy with 5 cars and 4 installers. Diego is young, enthusiastic, cheerful, and takes great pride in his work. He set me at ease, telling me that he changes the windshields on around 6 S-class Mercedes every week, as well as a couple of E-class like mine. He knows how to recalibrate all the sensors and stuff after he's done, and assured me that everything would be just fine. He explained the process, right down to the fact that he would try to transfer all my stickers from the old windshield to the new, and although the inspection sticker is supposed to destruct if you try to transfer it (so you might have to call a DMV 800-number for a new one to be sent to you), he still can transfer it about 90 percent of the time. He said the whole process would be about an hour and a half. Everything he said was totally-true. I got back a perfect windshield installation in 90 minutes, stickers and all. I mean just flawless, precise, excellent. So the installer was fantastic, but how about the windshield? The windshield that Safelite chose to use on my car (I just gave them the VIN number online and let them pick the right one) was an AGC windshield. That's from Asahi Glass Company - the largest auto glass manufacturer in the world and original equipment manufacturer for Lexus and others -- and I noticed the sticker on it said "Made in Poland", which means that it was manufactured at AGC's top-of-the-line NordGlass factory, where they make a lot of windshields for Europe. This was going to be an excellent windshield, and indeed it is indistinguishable from my original Saint-Gobain Securit windshield (except I can see through it because it is new). When I went on the Safelite website on Thursday, I saw that I could have an appointment as soon as Friday afternoon. One day for the glass to arrive, not Forever like the wait for Mercedes Dealer parts. I understand that the key to the overall experience really is the installer, so YMMV, but I can vouch for Diego at the Great Neck Safelite if you need a windshield for a Mercedes. Final thought: I appreciated the seamless integration between website and shop. Unlike at a lot of businesses, I didn't have to repeat a single bit of information when I arrived; what I told the website was already in the shop computer. All I had to give the shop was my name and ID. Diego took my key and that was it. My receipt came by email. The backoffice technology worked flawlessly. In the time between order and appointment, I received several appointment reminder emails and invitations to change my appointment if my schedule changed. Thoughtful. In the end, despite all my concerns about going with the low-price supplier, I simply couldn't have had a better experience. Service that I would have gladly paid extra for, at a bargain price.
