For one thing, the employees are so much more inviting there and they actually seem to know what they're doing. Not to throw digs at the Oakland location, but this location is Walnut Creek has got it goin' one! With the two parking garages and lots of street parking around, it's easy to snag a spot to park. The interior is bright and clean with your choice of tables, counter, or sofa seating. They've got an extensive variety of drinks available ranging from milk tea to smoothies to freshly brewed and flavored teas. If you know me, you know I go cray cray over my avo smoothies. I frequent my usual suspects for my fixes, but I've since added Mr. Green Bubble to my list. What I really like about this spot is that they'll allow you to mix up the flavors. I've been to a few boba tea joints that don't allow this which is understandable considering the process. But, I LOVE the options that I can get here. Maybe I don't want just a "regular" avo smoothie. Maybe I want an avocado mango or an avocado coconut smoothie instead (don't judge it before you try it because it's bombtastic!). If I could put half a star, Mr. Green Bubble would be 2.5 stars. My boyfriend and I arrived at around 8 PM on a Tuesday night, not busy at all, but not once did we feel welcomed as others wrote about on here. Honestly, their menu is pretty overwhelming. They have hella stuff to choose from so the both of us looked so lost. It was obvious it was our first time. But not once did any of the two workers tried to explain anything about the products they sell, explain their menu. No help at all for us first timers. Not even a "welcome in," it quickly went to a, "what can I get you guys." We came to try their waffle + ice cream combo, but guess what, they don't even have the ice cream flavors on the menu. How inconvenient. They don't have much to choose from either. Green tea, Oreo, rocky road, butter pecan (I think), and one or two more flavors. We tried their coconut pandan mochi waffle + green tea. You get two waffles with only one scoop of ice cream. An additional scoop is pretty cheap, but I just feel like you should get at least two scoops of ice cream with your waffle choice. The mochi waffle was exactly what I expected. The inside captured that mochi texture decently. Sticky and sweet. It is a bit hard to cut the mochi waffle into pieces so just be prepared to pretend you're cutting a medium raw green steak! The both of us did agree that their ice cream is pretty good. Not too sweet, thick and creamy, and perfectly "icey," if that makes sense. I do give them props for the delicious dessert. We ended up ordering an extra scoop of ice cream ($1.09 with tax), and their Oreo tasted great. My boyfriend really liked how icey or frozen it was. It didn't melt too quick so no ice cream soup here. Do I recommend this place? They seem to be popular with their bubble tea drinks and are pretty fast with making them, so yaaa, sure maybe. I could barely make out the tea flavor. The boba texture was okay, but it wasn't sweetened like other boba places are and had no flavor. Maybe if you get 100% sweetness the drink would taste better? Although I do appreciate that they use reusable, recyclable cups. The popcorn chicken was spicy even though we ordered it mild. I'd hate to see what hot would taste like. We get a level 3 spicy every time, and this is the only boba shop that makes actually CRISPY fried tofu. The service is questionable. The music is often so loud the employees have to yell back at us and can never hear our order. Last time we went the young girl working the register refused to take us, making direct eye contact and then awkwardly and obviously ignoring us while she continued doing everything but taking our order. We politely assumed she was really busy so we waited... and waited... we figured after a while she wanted us to use the kiosk. Just say that... it would've been more polite as well. Roaming downtown Walnut Creek on a Saturday afternoon after our lunch, we stumbled across a very packed boba tea joint. Being the boba drink fanatics we are, we had to see for ourselves what the hype was. The name is quite a misnomer as the plastic cups are disposable yet almost reusable with the more than average thickness of the cups and lids used. Definitely not very green. On with our menu selections - Snow Storm and the usual fav oolong milk tea. The Snow Storm is an over-priced gimmicky treat with one scoop of ookies and cream ice cream and cookies and cream flavored Pocky sticks stuffed into an egg puff cone. There was hardly any ice cream and it was hardly shareable. It cost nearly $7!!! The oolong milk tea was tasty with a deep roast flavor that was not masked by the creamer used. We would have preferred the boba to be slightly ess sweet but otherwise it was cooked to perfection with the right balance of tenderness and chewiness. Price was average, however, they actually charged 50 cents for creamer, which seems unreasonable. Come for the drinks, and not the ice cream. I like their variety of boba beverages, but I cannot recommend this place based on principles. When you walk in, you have to go to one of their two kiosks to view the menu and place your order. As they are a cashless establishment, you have to pay at the kiosk. I noticed after I ordered and paid for my boba beverage, that I was charged $0.50 for a bag. Nevermind the fact that the county caps bag fee at $0.10 and they're charging five times the legal limit, but I don't need a bag for my single beverage order. I told them, and was told the bag fee was automatic, and they can't do anything about it. So, bear in mind when you patronize this establishment that they will charge you a $0.50 nuisance fee for every order. There are many other options in the immediate vicinity. read more

Their boba was a little bit more chewy that I would like them, but the flavor was spot on! The boba was properly sweetened, and it was delicious even on its own. And as for the Thai milk tea itself, it was just OK. The sweetness was fine, but I feel like the milk tea could be creamier. If only they could make their drink more creamy and less watery, this place might just be my new favorite. Now I'm not much of a boba fan (fight me) but my Fiance surely is so we go often. Whenever she craves boba, I know that the Popcorn Chicken Bento is what I'm having for lunch. The first thing that I absolutely appreciate is that they don't fold the box in so that the chicken is crispy and crunchy by the time it gets to me. The chicken here is perfect. Fried to perfection, the right amount of salt, and the juicy inside make this a masterpiece. On top of that, the portions here are amazing. I could eat this until I'm disgustingly full and still have enough for a meal in a few hours. Sometimes when I feel extra bold, I'll get the level 2 that gets my mouth going. The heat is hot enough to make me feel uncomfortable but good enough to make me keep wanting more. That's all I really have for Mr. Green Bubble. Originally, I was psyched to see there was a Mr. Green Bubble closer to where I live now. The one on Piedmont Ave. had been my go-to when I lived in Oakland. However, when I tried to order a drink with only 1/2 the amount of creamer, they flat out refused. This surprised me, as it's actually a menu option in Piedmont. They have a new drink called mango blaze. There's no description of it online, but I gave it a try. So how does it taste? If you're familiar with preserved Chinese plum, I think you'll immediately understand this description: a mango smoothie with a taste of li hing mui (sweet, salty, and sour) and a hint of chili. You would expect a Milk Tea / Boba place to have good tea, but that isn't always the case. Mr. Green Bubble has an outstanding selection of teas and the best part is they always taste good! My personal favorite is the Osmanthus Oolong which tastes like just the milk tea I would get when vacationing in Taiwan. So why only 3 stars? Its been very inconsistent.. sometimes it feels watered down and sometimes the boba is either over cooked to under cooked. The inconsistency isn't limited to milk tea/boba. Their snacks/dessert has been inconsistent. The first time I tried their chocolate egg puffs, for example, were fluffy and chocolate was oozing.. second time it was try and chocolate had dissolved into the batter. If they're so inconsistent, why do I keep coming back? Well first off it's the conveniences - they have one of the best online ordering and in-store tablets. For COVID specifically, they have you order online and you pick up in the store on separate tables placed in front of the cash register. There's plenty of distance between the tables and the cash register so it feels like they're taking COVID seriously. The Oreo Cookie Egg Puff was a great dessert and tasted sweet and fluffy. They add some extra sugar on top to make it a little bit sweeter, but not in an overwhelming way. The popcorn chicken is cooked well and at level 3 has just the right amount of spice. I like a lot of spice typically, but I found that at higher levels they just add more pepper (which I think is mainly cayenne) so the basil flavor gets drowned out. Ordered during SIP, we had previously tried the boba at the Piedmont location and were craving some fried chicken dishes, so ordered boba + food from the Walnut Creek location this time. First a quick heads-up: ordering from DoorDash is a *significant* markup compared to their own ordering online option. I know there's always a markup with 3rd party delivery companies, but especially in these times, ordering directly from the cafe ensures they don't have to share any commission AND is cheaper for you. For example, their wheel cake is $4.99 on DD and $3.99 from the cafe directly. Their Thai milk tea and boba hit the spot. I loved the intense flavor. But seeing as how this was primarily a food order for us, it lost stars on that front. We ordered spicy popcorn chicken, which wasn't too bad (and level 3 was certainly spicy!!) - as well as the fried chicken bento set. And on the fried chicken steak there was a real issue with the texture of the chicken - tasted rubbery and gummy. It was so hard to eat, it compelled my partner to Google what on earth that texture was, and it's something called "woody breast" chicken. We were recommended this dessert spot by a friend so we decided to check it out. My girlfriend and I got there around 8pm and it was complete empty which was nice. The inside has a very captivating look to it, with plenty of seats, a couch and board games. Overall looks like a pretty cool spot to hang out with friends.
