    Top 1000 drinks.
    Kev H.

I am tossing between giving this place 4 stars and 3 stars. OK, let me start with the many good things about their brown sugar milk tea with boba: 1. The brown sugar milk tea: It tasted like whole milk, it was creamy and delicious, and the brown sugar flavor really came through. Overall the drink was pretty amazing. 2. The boba: Perfectly sweetened. 3. The value: Their "large" sized drink turned out to cost more than $7, which was not cheap, but the size was not just "large", it was actually gigantic. Because of that, I felt like the price was justified. Now the bad: A. The boba: Super undercooked, and very tough. Too bad, because the flavor (sweetness) was perfect. B. The tea in milk tea: I did not taste any tea flavor whatsoever. The drink tasted purely like whole milk with brown sugar, even though the name of the drink suggested there was tea. C. The cup: It is one of my pet peeves to see a plastic cap-on lid on my boba drink cup, because with it I could not shake my drink upside down and rigorously to evenly mix my drink, which in this case I would want to be able to shake up my drink so that all of the brown sugar could go into my milk tea. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and give them 4 stars instead. But I would want to give this place another try, mainly to see if the undercooked boba was just a one time flub.

Hey there, Boba Time! Thought I'd finally get around to leaving Boba Time a review even though I had already visited here quite a few times over the course of their opening to now. Located in the top level of the Sun Valley Mall, and in a location that is known to have previously had other boba and dessert as the concept, it's nice to see that there is finally a spot that is worth staying there with Boba Time. The decor is nice and clean. There are seats on the sides of the wall for you to wait for your drinks, but there are no sit down tables, though you're in a mall so if you really want you can just go directly downstairs to the food court area for seating since that's the side of Sun Valley they're located in. They also added a table now with straws, and for people to stab their straws into their drinks, which makes sense since there's no other tables there before. The staff here is really what sticks out here the most I feel. The owner is very conversational, friendly, and just overall a nice person to interact with. The employees here are also friendly, as I know most of them, and those I'm not as familiar with, they're also ready to help me out with my order. Boba Time doesn't just have boba, but they also have frozen desserts, so if you're in the mood from some of that as well, or just really like Ube and taiyaki cone, thise place will be able to help you out with that. Though it's not an extensive menu for flavors, it will have enough that should be enticing for a group of people as well to choose from. The boba menu is fairly sized. It's not going to be as big as other boba places, but they have all of the basics, and will be able to meet whatever you're feeling for drinks at that moment. Pricing wise, they're kind of on the higher side of things, but then again, all boba seems to have gotten expensive across the board now with all locations, while they haven't gone up since opening, so they're more on par now if anything. The part of the pricing that would make it go up more is if you want to get a large, as their large price is a bit higher than usual places, but the only other places where the cups actually get this large is Milk Tea Lab, so you definitely get a nice bang for your buck when upgrading to a "large" here, which is really more of a big gulp sized cup. Their toppings are also not the standard $.50 topping, though they are still on par with places like Sharetea, where the toppings are in the $0.7x range. If you just get a regular sized drink with a topping, the pricing will probably be the same as other spots nearby such as Teapot or Happy Lemon. Drink quality time. I've tried their brown sugar before, which was good, but nothing that would put it above any other brown sugars in the area. The basic milk tea here was also good, but nothing extraordinary, though is different than the other boba spots in this area. The passion fruit green tea here is probably my favorite, and the one I always get when I am here. The tea flavor is strong here, but so is the passion fruit flavors, but rather than one overpowering the other, they're really just overpowering my tastebuds which I'm totally fine with. The boba here is another selling point, as they by far as the QQest boba in the area, with the exception of maybe Sharetea. I probably like their boba the most for the chewiness, though sometimes, I do feel it may be a bit too chewy, but again, I digress. Boba Time is a welcomed sight for the Sun Valley Mall. With many, many boba places that have tried to make their way into the Sun Valley lineup throughout the years, this is one that will probably stick around for awhile, or at the very least, I hope it will. Prices are comparable, great staff, and well made drinks. Yes, Surf City and Uncle Sharkii offers boba, but they're not a boba place. Boba Time IS a boba place, so boba cravers should definitely give it a try.

Nice people, and quick service. I ordered the brown sugar boba milk tea. Sweet and tasty, I got average sweetness & ice on my drink & it was good! I'm glad to see a boba joint open in the local mall! Ton a competition here in the bay, a number of boba restaurants in the area by the Sunvalley Mall here in Concord. They also sell soft serves with a multitude of toppings! Be sure to check it out!

New boba store in Sunvalley Mall and while I was skeptical given it was Happy Lemon or i-Tea, I was surprised that their passion fruit green tea is actually pretty good. It's more on the sweet side than the tart side so while it may be generic, I do quite like it. They are also one of stores that allow customization in terms of sugar and ice level too which is appreciated. It looks like they also have a decent menu but since I only got the passion fruit green tea with boba this time, I'm quite keen to try their other items including the ice cream (I see you ube ice cream flavor). Anyways, not much of a line given it's new but definitely appreciated given the heat wave recently. So go try it out!

Mango Green Tea with Strawberry Boba

This is a new Boba shop located in the Sunvalley Mall located on the 2nd floor. Being there are a lot of tea shops in the area (and even in the mall we have like 2 already there) something has to make this place stand out amongst the other. They do offer taiyaki and ice cream to go with it as well as their drinks. I only tried their drinks this visit so my review will focus on that. I ordered the Mango Green Tea with Strawberry Boba. I had it 70% sweet with medium ice. Overall, it was pretty decent and not too sweet. The mango green tea was refreshing and the strawberry boba gave it that sweet syrup to complement the drink. However, I tasted a bunch of the boba syrup because it all popped when I drank through my straw. The straw they gave me was not big enough to even suck the boba. I had to pop the boba in order to get anything out, and that ruins the drinks for me. I took down a star for that inconvenience. Overall, I would look forward to trying other things here.

Large classic milk tea with boba

Honestly pleasantly surprised. The tea flavor was good, sweetness level was good (I get 50% sweet), ice level was good (also 50%), and the boba was chewy, which is great! I 100% prefer al dente, chewy boba to the overcooked mushy boba some stores make. The only thing I didn't like is the lid is a snap on lid. I prefer the sealed ones, but I got the large size, so maybe the machine doesn't seal this size. Anyways, it's just a minor thing. I wasn't expecting a boba shop in a mall to be so good I actually made a review. Definitely would get boba here if I'm in the mall again.

whenever i'm at sunvalley, i usually make a stop here for a sweet treat after my shopping trip! no, this isn't the best spot in town, but it's prices are pretty reasonable. service is relatively quick, too. i got a large (and it is LARGE.) mango passionfruit green tea w/ boba - it came out to $7-8 dollars, which is unfortunately the standard nowadays, but the size of the drink makes up for it. you can ask for less/no ice, free of charge, if you want more bang for your buck!

Great lil boba spot. The only thing that bothered me was the smoothie and slushy was not blended all the way. Still had lil chunks of ice.

Went shopping with my friend and we were in need of something sweet after having Sun Gate BBQ. We were definitely not disappointed. The service was fast, and the employees were nice and patient. Overall I would say I had a great experience here and I most definitely would go again!

$6 for the float + tip + tax.

I ordered the boba float & it was actually really good. The boba was made fresh and the vanilla soft serve was good. Staff member added caramel and brown sugar drizzle and it was built to perfection! He also asked me if I wanted to add some Oreos; pocky; granola; and stuff on it and I said yassss! Overall I highly recommend trying the float.

The staff was friendly and there was plenty of parking in front and behind the cafe. It was well decorated, with big windows, an open-air bar, and cafe merchandise for sale. There was also a bulletin board advertising other businesses, a bathroom, and wifi options. It was a bit warmer this day, but there was a big fan in the front providing some air to the space. There was also a free or paid wifi option depending on the bandwidth one would need. I ordered the iced chai latte with caramel syrup and almond milk, which was a bit pricey for nearly $10. However, I will say it was delicious and made quickly. Probably the coolest thing here though was the co-working space. The front of the cafe had plenty of seating for people to talk or work. There was a hallway leading to the back room that had larger tables for bigger groups, implying more of a co-working or quieter space. Definitely appealing for people wanting a third space - will be back!

Vietnamese coffee, in my opinion, should be strong, bold, and sweet, and I was pleasantly surprised…read morethat 85° Bakery delivered exactly that. While we were there, we spoke with another customer who also ordered the Vietnamese coffee. She asked for 125% sugar because she found the "regular" sweetness to be too bitter, but I have to disagree. I ordered mine at the regular sweetness level, and it was already plenty sweet with definitely no extra sugar needed in my opinion. In fact, it might even be borderline too sweet for some people, but since I enjoy sweeter drinks, it worked perfectly for me. One thing to note is that you cannot adjust the ice level for this drink. I did not understand why at first, but it makes sense now because even after the ice melts, the coffee remains strong and the flavor stays rich and sweet. Overall, it is a solid and well balanced coffee. That said, I still really enjoy 85° Bakery's sea salt coffee drinks as well. I'm happy that I've found another coffee option that I enjoy from this bakery.

What Happened to the Choco Bun?…read more Plenty of free parking. When you walk in, grab a tray and window shop all the pastries. They individually wrap these so grab what you want and place it on your tray. Once you're finished, cruise up to the counter. Would I Come Back? Yes, I keep coming back. I use to come back for the Choco Bun, but if they've changed the recipe at all locations, I'll only be coming back for the Milk Bun and Nougat. Their Signature Item: Egg tarts are their signature item. If you've ever been to an Asian party, someone almost always brings a box of egg tarts from 85-Degrees. But on today's visit. Well, just look at the photo. Someone stepped away from the oven for about 6 minutes too long. Choco Bun ($2.55, Grade D): The Choco Bun has been my absolute go-to for years--the closest location to me is usually the South Sacramento store and I tell everyone they have to get it whenever they visit an 85°C. Unfortunately, it's been about 8 months since my last trip, and the Choco Bun is no longer something to write home about. Milk Bun ($2.05, Grade A+): If you've ever had their Milk Bun with the custard filling, the Choco Bun used to be very similar in texture. Now, it's flat with super dry edges. Not good at all. Luckily, I also bought a Milk Bun (my usual second favorite), and by default, it's now my number one because the Choco Bun was a complete bust. It's so fluffy and sweet. Melts in your mouth. Strawberry Banana Smoothie / no boba ($5.85, Grade F): It was incredibly artificial-tasting--nothing real about it. I only made it through a quarter of it before throwing the rest into the garbage. My fault for hoping for a "just picked" fresh fruit taste, but this was honestly one of the worst smoothies I've ever had. Nougat ($9.60, Grade A+): The bagged Nougat candy is fantastic. It's soft, gooey, and packed with what I'm guessing are pieces of pistachio. Delicious, but a fair warning if you have dental issues: these will wreak havoc on your teeth. It's not quite as sticky as a Starburst, but it could definitely pull out a denture! Bottom Line: The staff here is friendly, and there are still a few standout 5-star items that make a visit worth it (the Milk Bun and the Nougat). However, the disappointing recipe change to the Choco Bun and the absolute miss on the smoothie knock this down to a 3-star experience overall.

Pro: the avocado toast that we ordered had a curried chickpea salad on top and it had a delicious flavor. That was probably my favorite bite! We also shared half order of the blueberry waffle, and it had a type of granola on top that provided some really great textures. The food certainly impressed me. Con: Both of us felt like the coffee had none of the flavor that it was supposed to have (we both ordered the cardamom maple iced latte with macadamia nut milk) and instead, it just tasted like milk. He ended up ordering an iced turkish coffee with milk. It was hot outside, so I went in to grab some water. Their water container was not only basically empty, but it was also warm. Gross. I decided I would rather pay for a cup of iced water (because in a lot of the places I've been to, they charge for it). I go up to the register and ask if I can buy a plastic cup with iced water. The cashier/pastry cook/barista says, "Water?" and I repeat that I want a cup with iced water. She says, "Ice?" and I say, yes please. She goes right next to where the other barista is and she grab a scoop full of ice and gestures it to me. I'm kind of confused by this point, and it seems like the other barista is too. And then I ask again if I can get it in a plastic cup. Then the other barista points to one of the paper cups next to the warm water container, but then I ask them again if I could please get it in one of the cups they have, (because I wanted to be able to carry it around with a lid). That's when the other barista says, "You're doing too much, but okay." And she passes me the plastic cup, without a lid, acting as if I just asked her for her whole paycheck and half the drinks on the menu. I'm definitely annoyed at this point, but I don't care enough to be rude back. Then she says she's going to fill up the container. So she goes, gets the container to fill it up, and I'm there waiting with my friend in the store. It looks like she's the only barista there, so it keeps taking a little longer for the drink(s) to come out. When she finally comes back with a semi-filled container, I'm conversing with my friend, when she turns sharply and says, "Were you going to order anything??" in a pretty snappy tone, as if I'm only worth giving a plastic cup to if I'm going to order more. We reply that we already ordered, and she goes back to finish drinks that a previous customer had ordered. It's two drinks, and I assume that it took about 12-15 minutes for them to receive what looked like small hot drinks. I say this because these customers were sitting there well before my friend and I arrived, took time to order, and then were waiting for our drinks. After that, we're still waiting while she goes to take orders, and that's when the cashier/pastry cook/barista woman finishes my friends drink... after having stood there FOREVER while the other barista was going in circles. I was shocked to say the least, kind of amused, but also disappointed because these customers drink was about 8-9 bucks, the wait time was about 8-10 minutes, and the drink was disgusting. Actually insane. I don't recommend this place whatsoever. Place looks mid, service was abominable, and the workers look like they hate each other and anyone who asks for a plastic cup with iced water. Do better, and preferably give us back our money for the nasty drink+attitude combo.
