The Gyro itself tasted OK, pretty typical Gyro. The main reason for the -2 stars is that I had my food 30 seconds after my order was placed, which means that it was precooked and sitting in a warmer. Fries do not do well in a warmer and tasted as such. Thank goodness for Mr. Gyros. After a telecommuting stint for a couple years, I have been recalled back to the mothership at work in Redmond. The building that my office is located is a bit out of the way. It is a block or two to the closest cafeteria. However, it is close to two food truck locations which is how I encountered Mr. Gyros food truck which is an offshoot of the restaurants of the same name in Seattle. Found the yellow colored truck situated just across the street from my office. The menu offerings here is simple consisting primarily of gyros, salads and sides like Greek fries. I decide to order the lamb gyro ($7) with Greek fries ($2). The lamb gyro is a great option. The thinly sliced lamb is tender and delicious. The gyro is a sizable portion and sufficient for lunch. I did not need to order the Greek fries, but did so anyway to see how they tasted. The steak style fries seemed freshly cut (did not seem like the frozen variety) and topped with feta cheese. A good combination. They also had some sauces like a chili sauce if you want to add some more flavor to the fries and/or gyro. I am glad Mr. Gyros has a truck that serves Microsoft. Mediterranean food is something that is missing on campus. There are a few places that sell gyros nearby, but I feel the quality of the lamb gyro here gives me no reason to drive to one of those places. Just wish this truck was on campus nearby more than just once a week as my schedule doesn't always align with the truck's schedule. read more

FOOD TRUCK REVIEW. I landed on Mr. Gryro for dinner on campus at UW Bothell tonight because the food choice here is terrible (it's between a subway or a coffee stand with pre made wrapped sanwhiches and high school cafeteria pizza slices). I was bracing myself for disappointment- usually food trucks here charge whatever they want, driving up prices (ha get it) while skimping on quality and portion size. Usually not great value but good enough when you're starving and looking for something to shovel in between classes. Mr. Gyro surprised me- both cheap (relatively) and lotsss of it. Of the food trucks I've tried, this one gives you the biggest portion of food. It's shockingly big! I couldn't finish my plate, a first. It was the size of two meals in one- for $9. I told the guy I wanted the Greek fries but I also wanted some gyro meat, he told me to get the Donor Plate- which is fries topped with a hot heap of shaved gyro meat, and a dollop of tzatziki. I was shocked at the size. I can't speak for the gyros or the salad, and I saw that a side of fries is pretty tiny on its own, but what I wanna say is that the hidden gem on the menu is the donor plate. Minus a star because the flavors themselves were not all that complex. It was essentially just meat and fries, which I doctored up with spicy chili sauce. The fries were boring- just greasy frozen fries like Ore Ida that were only edible with lots of salt. The gyro meat was great though. I ate and ate and ate until I was full and sick of it. The portion size is ridiculous and they fill it with I'd say triple the normal amount of meat of normal places. For $8 it's a steal at school. Well, I saw that they've been good about posting their location reliably for several months now so against my better judgment I decided to give them another try. It was bad. I ordered a lamb gyro with no onions and greek fries. Even gave them a 20% tip, which was a mistake as they seemed to have forgotten my order and served me after several people who ordered after I did. The gyro meat was OK, but the gyro was filled with grocery store bagged salad mix, including cabbage and stale lettuce. Gross. The pita was soggy and the fries were soggy with very little feta on them. I wonder if the owners know what's going on. The first time they brought their food truck over here they used to work it themselves, now it's 2 other guys and the menu is infinitely smaller and the quality is terrible. read more

I got lunch from Mr. Gyro for the first time last Thursday at the Bellevue UW Medical Center lot on Northup Way. It reminded me of the Doner Kebap stands in Germany that I miss so much. I ordered the chicken gyro - the flatbread was soft and fresh, the meat was well-seasoned and the cucumber/tomato salad inside was great.
