We came here for a family dinner and had a great experience. The name "Marash" comes from a city in…read moreTurkey known for its meat dishes, so my expectations were high--especially since the owner is from there. We all ordered grilled chicken BYO wraps, and they were so good that even my picky son wanted a second one. The toppings were fresh with a great variety. The white sauce was delicious, and the hot sauce wasn't too spicy--something everyone can enjoy. The place is much bigger inside than it looks and feels very clean and spacious. There used to be a pizza place here that didn't feel very clean, but now it's completely different--you can tell a lot of effort went into the renovation. Overall, it's a place we can comfortably enjoy as a family. They've been open about 7 months, and I hope they continue to get the support they deserve.

Food is ready quickly, though grilled items will take a few minutes more. For my first visit here, I ordered the Chicken Doner sub. The meat is prepared Turkish-shawarma style and served on a lightly toasted sub roll (roughly an 8" roll). I requested all the extras, which included the white yogurt sauce, a little of the spicy red sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and I believe cucumbers. It had great aroma and taste. The gentleman behind the counter (the owner maybe?) was very friendly and helpful with regard to ordering and preparing my sub. There's lots of tables inside of various sizes and heights, and plenty of parking outside. The worst part is waiting in anticipation in my car for those darn traffic lights on Route 9 and Old Loudon Rd. to turn green so I can get there!

The owner, Sal, came over to our table while we scanned the menus and introduced himself. He gave us a complimentary taco each and said "these are the best tacos you've ever had." I loved the confidence and I loved that he was right. It was love at first bite. We ordered a quesadilla, a chicken salad, a plate of fries, more tacos and a gyro (assuming we would be taking most of it home and eating it for dinner over the week) The quesadilla & gyro were delicious and fresh. They were still tasty as leftovers 2 days later. I wasn't crazy about the salad but that's probably my fault. Ya Hala does comfort junk food - this is not the time to be calorie-conscious. Sal checked in on us a number of times while we were eating. The restaurant is a small hole-in-the-wall with a few booths and a bathroom. I assume most of their business comes from people doing take out at the end of their work day. If I lived or worked closer, I would be a regular customer here. In the end, Sal packed our food in to-go boxes and gave us a free gyro as a surprise. At some point during dinner, my husband mentioned I was Yelp Elite. In the interest of full disclosure, at no point did Sal ask me to leave a favorable review or use his free food as a bargaining chip. This review is done without taking the free gyro into consideration.

I found this place on Google which turned out to be such a hit. We tried calling in our order multiple times but always got a busy signal so we placed our order through Seamless and it was ready for pick up in 25 minutes. The portions here are large and the food is delicious! The chicken/gyro and rice platters are similar to NYC halal platters with large chunks of meat. The "crispy cheesy naan" is more like crispy cheesy paratha (flaky flatbread) which was yummy. The pita is also thick and fluffy! My group also loved the salads and falafel. The Mediterranean food here seems more authentic but they also have a kids menu with cheese pizza and chicken fingers, etc.

Meat was average. Salad was very fresh but pickles do not belong in a Greek salad. Replace with grape leaves. Lettuce also doesn't belong in this salad. Cheap canned black olives. Chicken over rice was good. Chicken over salted. Rice average. Garlic naan and pita were excellent. Best part of the meal. Homemade hot sauce also very good. Spinach feta rolls underwhelming. Baklava below average. Taste store bought. Overall food is okay but a little pricey.
