I'm not typically a buffet person but Mr Hibachi is by far the best Chinese buffet I've been to. It was reasonably priced, the food was flavorful and fresh, and it was a quick way to grab lunch. The dessert options were minimal but I'm not a dessert man. Overall, great lunch experience. I love this place! It's a good, Chinese buffet with tons and tons of choices. They keep the food fresh and rotate it out. They also include sushi and the hibachi grill in the price, and for a buffet place both of those options are quite good as well. THere are more rows of food here than at Walmart. The sushi is so fresh it still wiggles. And it is appropriately, even on holidays. But don't bring you disabled loved ones with walkers or crutches. No old people or children tandhat run. Basically Derby girls, and men in golf cleats. The floors are slick iced tile of doom. And the accessibility stall in the restroom has a firm bar, a good lock, and a toilet a clear five miles away from the toilet paper dispenser-- which is filled with paper the tinsel strength of Graham crackers but weighs too much to spin on its wheel. If you go right when they open up at 11:00 the very mediocre food is still cold. I was there once in June 2017 and again in July 2017 and this was the case both times. Also, in July 2017 my hand was burned by steam when a worker was switching out items on the buffet. There was no manager to speak with, and there doesn't seem to be anyone in charge if you have an issue. The girl at the desk told me that the owner was on a 2-week vacation. I waited 2 weeks then called several times to speak with the owner. I am told that "she doesn't come in until 3:00." So I then call at 3:00 and I'm told "she just left." I am still waiting for this non-responsive, elusive owner to call me back, because I had to go out and purchase aloe at the drug store to put on my burn, and I feel that I should be reimbursed for that. The food is always so good, but the service has been awful every time I've been. The waitresses are extremely rude. They always make the group that I go with pay before we're even halfway through our meal, and after that they don't refill our drinks in hopes that it forces us out of the restaurant. When we ask for refills the waitress glares at us and reluctantly takes our cups. They even started taking chairs away from our table while people were up at the buffet getting food- my friend was getting ready to sit down and one of the waitresses pulled her chair and almost tripped her. My friends and I keep going back because we love the food and the hibachi, but the service was so awful the last time we went that it is debatable as to if we will be returning to Mr. Hibachi. read more

I honestly don't know if I have the words to describe the taste and experience of this buffet. There are so many words in the English dictionary and none of them do justice to the sights, sounds, smells, and most importantly tastes of Mr. Hibachi. I know that soon I will have the peanut chicken and when I do my soul departs from my body. For a few moments i experience a rapturous ecstasy that cannot be described. Soon I have the sushi and once again I feel my senses overwhelmed by the taste and smell. After 3 or 4 plates I am brought back down to Earth. I know that I will never experience anything like this again. I will return home to my quiet life and in moments of banal sleeplessness I will creep to my door and mutter "Hibachi." In this moment of longing I will yearn for the only man who can fulfill my pleasure center. The only man who can cure my craving and appease my desire. I am a junkie, he is my master. This place is just okay but you get what you pay for. It's $8 for an all you can eat buffet with a really large selection. They restock everything regularly. However, nothing is really fantastic. You can't expect fantastic food for $8. I've been here twice since I live nearby and would never rave about the food but it's exactly what you would expect for an $8 buffet. If you want to eat a lot of sushi, it's a good place to go. The only issue during my two visits was at the sushi table where they have six or seven varieties of sushi and only two have labels. If you enjoy being cursed face to face when you do not pay a big sum of tips for such HORRIBLE service you got, this is the perfect place for you. If you enjoy being insulted face to face by waitress in front of your friends, this is the perfect place for you. If you served by a waitress named Xiufang, expect to enjoy such service above. I have to say, this is the most outrageous experience I ever had when I dined out. If you never had this problem before, it means you probably do not understand Fuzhou dialect, period. On March 26, 2016, I decided to take a friend of mine to this place to have a quick Chinese dinner buffet like I did before. I heard about how bad the service was before but I did not mind too much, and still tipped every time I came no matter how bad I felt the service was, just for the sake of respect and kindness from my very own. This time, it was way across the line. When we were seated, no one came to ask what we wanted for drink - fine, experienced, still gonna tip. When this waitress named Xiufang finally came to us after our long waiting, my friend heard her clearly said in front of her in a racist way in Fuzhou dialect (she thought my friend does not understand such dialect because we spoke Mandarin to each other): Chinese? I do not even want them in. And then she switched to Mandarin with an unhappy face, asked my friend impatiently and rudely: What do you want? During the meal, the waitress seemed unwilling to take our empty dishes away, and every time she did it, she did it with an unhappy face, like we owed her something. On the contrary, sitting beside were four American girls who came in around the same time as we did. This same waitress served them with smiles on her face all the time. When they left, she looked at bills on the table and said: fuck you, right within our earshot, and talked with her co-worker with abusive and cursing words, all in Fuzhou dialect. My friend told me quietly:" She is cursing one of the girls who did not tip her well enough." I already felt sorry for those four American girls who tipped her, and what was going on so far has already embarrassed me very much, but this was far away from the end. She handed over the bill in the middle of our meal, rudely, with an unhappy face, and a plain tone thank you, sounding like she is gonna kick us out, even it was one and half away from the closing time of the restaurant. When we decided to leave her no tip for such horrible service, she looked at the bill we signed during our meal, put it down to the table, and said go to hell right to our face, in Fuzhou dialect, left. So let me get this straight: We happily went to this restaurant for a quick dinner, and out of nowhere we were offended, insulted and cursed by waitress in a language that she thought we do not understand. Well, I did not know you have this surprise on the menu. To Xiufang the waitress: It is nothing personal, but what is wrong with you? Do you have any problem with Chinese as you are Chinese too? Do we have a problem with you? If you are not happy with this job, go away and find another one. You may think that no one understands Fuzhou dialect so it is "safe" to insult and curse customers in Fuzhou dialect in front of them. Well, I guess you just had a bad luck. You may say you were in a bad mood so you did not watch your tone, fine, we were still gonna tip. You may say you were busy so you did not provide prompt service, valid, we were sure we understand and still gonna tip, but you tell me, what are those cursing and insulting in Fuzhou dialect about? Hmmm? My friend usually tips 20% after taxes even for this buffet place before, as long as the service is average - we never expected any high end service in this place, but these cursing, insulting, and being racist are what we got? Oh and no, tipping is not mandatory, so do not take it as granted. To business owner: To be honest, I can hardly believe this would happen, but I believe this has happened for a long time, and in this case, can I assume there must be some other waitresses doing so? My first experience at this buffet was incredibly disappointing, I could not believe how rude the staff was. Firstly our waitress took our drink order by pointing to a list and asking, "What do you want?" I asked if they served beer and she told me to get a coke as if I offended her by asking. When the drinks came she slammed them on the end of the table and walked away. I should point out that although it was a Friday night, the restaurant was not busy at all. As for the food, I didn't find a single hot dish in the buffet. It was like eating room-temperature leftovers. After my first plate I noticed our waitress watching us, staring, I can honestly say it felt threatening. About a half-hour into our dinner she walked over to our table and interrupted my conversation to ask me to pay. She literally asked for my money. Feeling insulted I ignored the check and tried to continue with my meal. Again however, within 5 minutes our waitress came to our table, pointed at the check and asked me to pay "now." I must point out again that this place was not packed, busy, or understaffed. I handed her my card and when she brought the receipt she stood there to watch me tip and sign. As we left even the hostess stared at us walking out, thinking that this was a different employee and perhaps I had a bad apple I nodded and said thank you only to be ignored and glared at. I'm not sure what I expected. Being a young man in a college town I've grown accustomed to the usual treatment when assumed that I'm a student. OK, yeah, it has pudding and Jell-O with marshmallows and cheese sticks and the other stuff typical to bad Chinese buffets, but it also has a lot of other stuff that is surprisingly not bad -- the fried rice and crunchy chicken were actually quite good. We went here for our anniversary dinner tonight and asked for a booth in a quiet area. The waitress told us no, even though there were multiple empty, secluded booths located around the restaurant. We had to sit near a loud party of 6, another table of two, and the loud waitress' stand nearby. There was no privacy whatsoever. Between clattering plates, the waitresses talking loudly among one another, and the parties talking next to us, it was extremely difficult to carry on our own conversation. All I can say is HORRIBLE SERVICE! We didn't let this ruin our anniversary night but we can definitely say that we will not recommend this restaurant to others.
