I've never owned a suit that has fit me well in my entire life. With only 2 months until my wedding, and without a suit, I was referred to to Mr. James by my wedding coordinator. I called them and within a few hours they reached out to me and scheduled an appointment a few days out so that they can get measurements and work with me to design the suit I wanted. I decided to attend an overseas wedding at the last minute and needed a fresh suit to keep up with the joneses. A friend who was extremely happy with the work done for his own wedding suit directed me to Mr James and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I'm a fit guy that likes a slim fitting suit and I often run into issues trying to find a pair of pants that fit me in the waist and still accommodate my upper legs and calves while still holding a slim silhouette. When I met with Robb for my first fitting all my fears were put to rest. He took detailed measurements and even double checked his work. He assured me that the pants would fit just as I wished and I'd still be able to cut a rug on the dance floor at the wedding without being the least bit uncomfortable. And while he was more than willing to offer his expertise, Robb ultimately let me have the final decision. And trust me when I say, there are A LOT of decisions to be made. From the angle of the pockets on the pants to the style of the jacket lapel, there are hundreds of combinations to choose from once you begin looking at the multitude of colors, patterns and fabric samples Robb has on hand. I just got married on April 28th, and I could not have been happier with my suit choice. I reviewed many different companies, and finally decided to go with this one after talking to Robb. I quickly learned how much time and care he was going to put into making exactly what I wanted. Another thing I appreciated was how invested he was in the final fit of the suit. I knew I would get an amazing product because he wasn't willing to have his name on anything not up to his standards. Many of these companies come do one fitting, and simply mail you your suit, and will pay for minor alterations. I ended up having three total fittings to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. I received compliments the entire day of my wedding on the suit. My absolute favorite part of the suit was the color and liner. I went with the bemberg in a crazy floral pattern, and since it lines the entire suit by the end of the night I was wearing it inside out while partying. I had a tuxedo made for my brother's wedding from Bespoke Mr James earlier this year. I was fortunate enough to initiate the process with some advance time before actually needing to use the tuxedo for the first time, and yet the turnaround time for making the suit was super fast and efficient anyways -- I met with Robb (the owner) in early December of 2017 for some initial measurements and had the finished tuxedo in hand by early February 2018. The way it works is that you meet with Robb for an initial fitting, and you can either go to him or he can come to your office/WeWork and measure you on the premises. In this first appointment, you look over different fabric types for the outside and inside fabrics, and select the cuff and collar types, and then a whole range of other customizations possible should you so choose. For me, I wanted to stay more traditional and conservative for what I like to consider my anchoring "foundational" tuxedo that I would be able to wear to all black-tie events in the future, and Robb was super helpful in guiding me with my limited sartorial knowledge into choosing the proper style and color. Robb said it was more of the classic "James Bond" style, which is nice (and an appropriate cultural reference, since Robb is indeed British himself), and for me I just wanted a tuxedo that actually fit me and I wouldn't dread wearing out in public, as the only other one I ever owned was an off-the-rack tuxedo from Joseph A. Banks in my college formal years which in hindsight was comically dumpy and baggy and had me looking like a mobster out of "Dick Tracy". Also, for further frame of reference, I have had one other custom suit made about 5 years ago -- from a company in NY that I wear exclusively as my work suit -- and it has served me well, but I noticed there was a clear difference in process between that company and Bespoke Mr. James. The NY company measures you in one appointment, tailors you in a 2nd and final appointment, and that's it, whereas Robb holds several fittings tweaking small areas here and there to make sure the suit fits every inch of your frame perfectly.
