I couldn't recommend Mr. James more! My husband and I were nervous walking in because we've never purchased such a nice suit before, but the experience was super straightforward, and Robb was lovely to work with. He had a wide range of fabrics, colors, buttons, and prints so my husband was able to wear something unique on our wedding day. Robb also sewed in our wedding date and initials in our preferred color and threw in a complimentary button-down. It was a great experience and my husband looked amazing on our wedding day!

Earlier this year I needed a suit for a wedding. Not my wedding, just someone in the family. I'd spent much of my life declaring loudly that as a gutter-punk / tech bro at heart I would never wear a suit for any reason. But I guess money and time erodes all edginess, because I decided I wanted to look nice next to my wife more than I wanted to feel a smug sense of superiority for my countercultural leaning. Long story short, Robb over here at Mr. James orchestrated the construction of a suit that gets me a lot of compliments every time I wear it. Unfortunately on both occasions I was rocking a terrible Men's Warehouse shirt that, despite being tailored, sucks ass. But whatever, suit still looks great! One day I will replace the shirt with something nicer.

I couldn't be happier with my first custom suit for my big day! My bride and I had a vision for a tan jacket that we couldn't find anywhere, except at Bespoke Mr. James. After exploring around LA for options, Robb clearly stood out with not only having the color and material we were looking for, but also providing his expert opinions on the minor details from what material to use on the tuxedo style pants, bow tie, and even the type of undershirt that would look invisible under the white dress shirt. These are details I didn't even consider or even know of, but I felt in great hands from the start. The suit was a hit at the wedding and guests noted the minor details from the colorful, custom lining (including inscription) and how fitted the suit was on my back (like a glove). I even got my dress shirt purchased and tailored for a perfect fit through BMJ. Robb is instantly communicative and handles shipping updates himself, even fixing a snag we had for my order. He's also very flexible for when you have to drop-in for measurements/pickups and as a result was really easy and friendly to work with. I would suggest going in for a free consult and then getting any suit and fit you can imagine (and at an affordable price for custom suits too!) I'll be finding occasions to wear this again. 5 stars, definitely and highly recommend!

    Black suit for my wedding

Mr James will be the only place I will go to for future suits from now on. I live about 75 miles away from his location but it's definitely worth the trip. Robb was very professional and helped explain everything in how a suit/tuxedo is made and is very knowledgeable about the current fashion style that is currently in. Never felt pressured about buying a suit from him unlike other places. He's very patient and works with you on the small details to customize your suit. The quality and details you get from this suit does not compare to any of the high end brands you find in stores. Definitely worth the investment! I would recommend purchasing the collar shirt he has, it was by far the most comfortable collard shirt I have ever put on!

We had a wonderful experience with Rob. My fiancé first contacted Rob about getting a custom suite in a specific fabric/color and that same day he was responding and sending pictures. He was professional, friendly, and efficient through the whole process and made it a special experience. So glad I had him make my wedding suit!

Through the entire process of purchasing my first bespoke suit, Rob at Bespoke Mr. James was great. I had shopped around for a while and met a few custom suit makers in the LA area before deciding to go with him for a few reasons: 1. He was decisive and gave his expert opinion while also being open to my tastes and thoughts. Too many places showed me a bunch of suits and said "We can do whatever you want" without much guidance. Rob was able to take our vision and apply his expertise. 2. Quality. Bespoke Mr. James's suits are cut and assembled in France, then fitted with an excellent tailor next door to their brick and mortar shop. We spoke about half vs. full canvas and I was able to land full canvas in the price range I was hoping for. Most importantly, Rob was communicative the entire time. I asked for a suit pretty close to my wedding date, and was worried about shipping, but Rob assured me we would be fine, and even explained how we had a backup plan if anything went wrong. The suit arrived, looked incredible, and I'm still getting compliments about it to this day. I'll be back for more suits in the future and I can't recommend Bespoke Mr. James enough.

I was recommended Bespoke Mr James by a friend who attended a wedding where the groom had a custom suit made by Robb. He was gushing over how good this suit looked, so I had to look into it. I reached out to Robb about 2 months prior to my wedding date and inquired about a custom suit. It was my first dive into the world of custom clothing so I was a total novice and had no idea how to go about the process. From the get go, Robb was extremely helpful and patient with me and my questions. During our first meeting, Robb asked if I had an idea of what I wanted. The only thing I knew at the time was that I wanted a navy suit, all other details were over my head. When I told this to Robb, he reassured me that that's enough and that he can work with that. He didn't make me feel uninformed which was a huge relief and his guidance through the process was invaluable. I eventually landed on what I wanted after combing through dozens of shades of navy, different types of fabrics, patterns, linings, etc. On the day of I received so many compliments on how good my suit looked and most importantly I felt confident on my wedding day. We had a total of 3 meetings (initial consultation, first fitting, and final fitting) and the whole process took about 6 weeks from start to finish. The price was very reasonable and well within my budget (I actually came in slightly under budget). One thing that I really appreciated about Robb was that there was never any pressure to upsell. He answered my questions openly and honestly about cost and what was worth the extra money or not. If you're looking for a custom suit for your wedding or just general use, I would definitely recommend Bespoke Mr James and Robb for your needs!

    Pattern suit

I've gotten all my suits from Robb and this time around was special to me being it was my wedding suit. We went with a traditional tuxedo look with a gross grained lapel. He always said the devil is in the details and truly delivered. I recommend Robb to all my friends.

Robb (Mr James) is a super nice guy! And the suit he made for me generates unsolicited compliments!

So glad i went with Mr James for my wedding suit! I looked around a few places in LA but decided i really wanted to go all in on a custom suit. Robb walked me through the whole process, making sure i got exactly what i wanted, while providing some useful guidance on how to look my best. I had a deadline to hit and he was spot on, with wiggle room for extra fitting and adjustments. I felt like a million bucks on my wedding day and received so many compliments on the suit. I'd recommend Mr. James to anyone looking to get a one of a kind 'fit.

Tl;dr: If you have a thing for clothes and want to experience the "best of the best" (in every…read moreregard), Jerry and Ivan at JB Clothiers are the guys to see. Period. From the first call to the final fitting - and their post-delivery followup - every aspect of my experience with them was aces. In too much detail: Absolutely fantastic in every regard - JBC isn't merely the finest tailoring Los Angeles has to offer - it's literally a "Destination Clothier." This is going to be a long review - but then again I had a really wonderful experience, and in so many ways, that I can't sum it up quickly. Personal background - I have 25 years' experience selling exotic cars to very high net worth clientele in Los Angeles, and I am very aware of a what a luxury experience looks and feels like. So I sort of walked in the door "loaded for bear." My other experiences had the veneer of luxury, but not the substance of luxury nor the quality of product. A glass of wine doesn't overcome the fact that the end result is a disappointment. Anyway - I could no longer find clothes "on the rack" that were made of fabrics I wanted (sport coats and suits in particular). I had tried two "made to measure" clothing stores (Suit Supply and Indochino) and been disappointed with the results, so I searched for a literal in-Los Angeles custom tailoring service (where I could consult *directly* with the tailor - not just an on-site rep for a tailor half a world away). After much deliberation, I made an appointment with JB. I must admit I was somewhat skeptical by this point, when I arrived for my first consult, even after all my investigation. The feel of JB Clothiers is EXACTLY what I was hoping to find when I walked in for my first consult. After meeting Jerry (the founder/proprietor) and his partner Ivan, I had great confidence that my research had paid off. The conversation about what I was looking for and how they could achieve it was quite in-depth (and I actually learned a few things about my taste). Jerry and Ivan suggested subtle ways of "expanding my taste envelope" while still well within my taste bandwidth. There are myriad choices to make - and with each one I was getting more excited to see the end result. The measuring process was thorough and precise, having me adopt different postures and re-measuring many times. I was there for the better part of an hour. About a month later, Jerry called to set up the first fitting appointment. I about died when I saw my coat for the first time. It's gorgeous and not so much a coat, as a garment, I think. The details are exquisite - and they are everywhere, beyond the special embroidery you'll be offered. It is quite literally a work of art. We tried it on, and made various adjustments, and I left not sure I'd be able to wait until it came back. Long story about how I Dunning-Kreuger'd the first alterations, which were literally put back on the 2d fitting. Sorry I wasted your time, guys. But by this time, I was so hooked on both the product and the experience, that I added a matching pair of slacks to the coat, turning it into a 2-Piece Suit. Going back the third time, I picked up the pants - they are not only gorgeous with the same attention to detail as the coat, but they fit me unlike any pants I have ever owned IN MY LIFE. They are utterly incredible. Fantastic! At the last fitting all of this was immediately and obviously worth every penny and every second of time. And admittedly, I'd added considerably to the time by the alterations I thought I wanted in the first fitting. I have tried this suit on with nearly every shirt/tie combo I can put together - it it so wonderful! This experience was very much a splurge for me - and I plan to do it again as soon as I can. Yes - I spent about 50% more than I would have for a Canali suit off the rack. But I got 5x the suit as a result. I'll never again waste money on clothing - what JB made for me is a lifetime investment, and no clothes I've ever had fit that description. Really not sure how to better convey my enthusiasm than to say I can't wait for the next time I decide to tread myself and add to my wardrobe. At the end of the day, the expenditure at JB will actually saved me in the long run - no more wasted money on clothes that are sorta "close enough" but never right. And no more wasted time trying to find them, either. Did I mention I love this suit? I love this suit! And I had a total blast along the way! Thanks guys!

This place is nice but maybe a little overrated…read more Jerry's not a bad guy and probably not a bad salesman. I thought I was coming in for a consultation, and I liked the fabrics and patterns we came up with, but he was disappointed that I was not ready to throw down $4,000 for the custom suit that day. (He convinced me that anything cheaper in his shop wasn't worth my time.) I can see why he likes to close the deal the day of. The more I thought about it, the less comfortable I felt throwing down than much for this suit... I had a few other reasons, too. Anyway, I sent a message to the store the next day, politely explaining why that I appreciated Jerry's time, but the shop wasn't for me. Jerry ended up calling me, and I wish I hadn't answered. He started trying to get me to get his cheaper stuff that had already talked me out of. He was pushy, dismissive of my reasons and all around unpleasant. I think they have some off the-rack suits available, too, and I believe they offer tailoring, but I am no longer interested. He'll probably respond to this and be dismissive again, but those are my two cents. He has a nice assistant. I won't pretend it's bad quality. Still three stars.

Do Not Use This Cleaner. $600 worth of shirts ruined…read more The Owner's response "I see this often..." No refund or monetary compensation. And told it was my own fault... The rest of this post is the rant of someone who is upset. With the quality of the job to be sure, but even more the quality of the customer service. So turn back, and you are spared the details, but you've been warned and your own clothes destruction will be your fault if you don't heed this. Go elsewhere. After a family trip to Hawaii, I got three shirts dry cleaned and they came back stained orange and what looked like burn marks and one shirt ripped to shreds. See pictures. When presented with, hey I just took great family pictures in these three shirts, and they did not look like this. The business owner had this to say.... "The oxidizing I see a lot on the west side." Sir, i've lived here for over 10 years and I have not. I have also dry cleaned my shirts for the same amount of time. To the ripped shirt, even more gaslighting... " we have notes going back to 2024 stating that this shirt has been ripped and has holes." To which I replied, use common sense, why would I be wearing a shirt with my family that has holes and why would I bring that shirt with holes to a dry cleaner? And his response was, "there is a note in the computer." Nobody could've possibly left a note after ripping and staining or burning all of my shirts ... right?! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Buck Mason, tombolo, rag and bone. I don't own many expensive shirts, but when I do, they all get ruined at once with absolutely no account taken. Rough. I've definitely spent over $600 at this dry cleaner so the only way I can show my disappointment is with my wallet and never returning and living to tell my story to the next person looking for a hometown cleaners they can trust. This is not that place.

Absolutely horrible experience -- they ruined my shirt and refused to make it right…read more I brought in a shirt specifically to be laundered, and I made it clear that I did not want it dry cleaned. I also paid an additional rush fee because I needed the shirt for a wedding. When I picked it up, the shirt had new stains that were not there when I dropped it off. On top of that, they had dry cleaned and starched the shirt despite my explicit request to have it laundered, and the shirt was effectively ruined. The worst part was the customer service. I explained the situation to the owner, but they offered no meaningful solution and refused to refund me, even though I paid a premium price plus a rush fee for a service that not only failed to meet my instructions but actually damaged the shirt. Now I don't even have the shirt I needed for the wedding. The pricing is already outrageous, so I expected a much higher level of care and customer service. Instead, I was left with a ruined shirt, out the money I paid, and no shirt for an important event. I would strongly recommend taking your clothes elsewhere. If a business can't follow basic cleaning instructions, damages your clothing, and then refuses to take responsibility for it, it's not worth the risk.
