Friendly and welcoming they took our orders and everything came spot on and quick, this place is always buzzing with customers and we experienced why. Today I got to visit Mr. Mac's Canteen. I saw it on facebook and saw it driving around the Milford area. I heard a lot of good things and wanted to give it a try. They have a very well set menu with plenty of options. Great for breakfast or lunch. The service was speedy and well received. They were pretty busy around 2 so I'm glad I ordered when I did. I got a bacon egg and cheese and was pleased with the serving of bacon and egg, since some places do skimp. Fries were okay nothing special - always a staple side though. The milkshake however, was very good for price and size. The atmosphere of MMC was more on the original side giving you a nice diner feel in the center of Milford. Very pleased and I will be back to try more menu options. read more

I've been coming to Mr. Mac's for years, surprised I've never reviewed this place. I come here especially for breakfast and a chili dog. They have the best chili, no refunds for how spicy it is, you've been warned. Friendly customer services, move the lines quickly. Also cash only! Quaint ambiance inside, grab and go place or take a seat inside after ordering. I keep meaning to take photos, but when i get home I always scarf down the food before I think about it. Today I had fish and chips platter, comes with battered and deep fried cod filet, fries, home-made coleslaw, tartar sauce and a lemon wedge. Been really digging Mr Macs lately. As another reviewer mentioned, it's a no frills kinda place but I really like it. My comfort food is always a bacon egg and cheese and Mr Macs delivers! Love they use Portuguese rolls, it really makes the difference. Also like their crinkle cut fries, burger was decent and my bf likes their milkshakes. Place is cash only FYI. Being new here, it's not a very friendly restaurant. You see many signs directing you: line must stand against the counter, no phones in the line, cash only (3 signs), customer parking only. Ok I get it, you want to churn customers. But you forgot a sign: where do you pick up the food? The line dumps people into the dining area with no where to stand. Not a big deal to me, I figured it out. But yelling at the elderly lady for not hearing you when you said "don't stand against the counter" seemed a bit excessive. This place delivers in everything it promises to be, nothing more nothing less. I get their breakfast sandwiches weekly and have tried them all over milford and they're definitely the best here. Your bread manages to stay toasty even when wrapped up while other places give you soggy bread after your ride home. The burgers are not amazing but I like their hot dogs and my boyfriend really loves the VERY spicy chili that you can get on them. Crinkle fries are always good. The lines moves quick, cash only. I come prepared to avoid the atm free from the machine inside. Very affordable. I've never had any issues with rude service ever. My husband and i decided to still give 5 stars. The food was quick, and very yummy, not the best but still good and filled us up for what we were looking for. We have the philly cheese steaks. The people seemed nice but they had a game on and one of the workers was freaking out over the game abd yelling and it was a little unprofessional in my opinion they also really need to do a deep clean. Fast service and good food!! A friend from the area brought me here because he insisted I would adore their bacon, egg, and cheese! And I most certainly did! There are no walls to hide the grill so you can see everything they make right in front of you. The bun was nicely toasted and the sandwich was overall gooey and delicious! We also shared a side order of fries, which were just as good! They were nicely and crispy on the outside but also warm and soft on the inside -- making them the perfect fry to accompany my BEC. It's been a few years since I've stopped in here and the quality has definitely taken a turn for the worse. Family ordered a bunch of different things, none of which were very good. Mr. Macs is a nice lunch spot. The place is very clean and inviting. The people who work there seem very friendly and attentive to your needs. You can tell they have a lot of regulars who know the place so it seems like people really enjoy coming back again and again. The prices are very reasonable as well. I had a steak and cheese which was fine, you will find its mostly just basic stuff like hot dogs and burgers. What I really enjoyed is that the food came out really fast! Visited the other night for a quick bite with a friend. I was pleased to get a great quick burger and fries (at a very reasonable price including a large drink!). The burger was perfectly cooked and tasty for a "fast" burger establishment. Fries were also good (not soggy, not burnt!). Downfall was it seems like the kids running it need to pay more attention to people waiting to order. And it got noisy when a bunch of HS kids came in and sat directly behind us (the whole place was empty but they crammed in a both behind us instead). Will def visit again! read more

I was brought here for lunch by a friend and had an excellent cheeseburger. My friend is a regular so my perception of the service is skewed. The lettuce, tomato and onion on the cheeseburger were fresh and crisp and the bun nicely toasted on the griddletop. I plan to return again as an anonymous customer and eat again. read more

Not sure why I never wrote a review of this restaurant before. Probably because the Canteen has been a part of my life since the late 1970's. If you're looking for a burger on a brioche roll with Roquefort cheese and friggin' cranberry flavored ketchup go somewhere else. Here you will find true American classic burgers and dogs. Good enough to make R. Lee Ermey even a more proud American. The chili dogs are probably the best I've ever had in the tri-state area. Burgers and sides are amazing. One of my favorites is a chili cheeseburger LT triple O. And quite frankly, a nice 9pm episode of Ancient Aliens would not be the same without their sausage, egg, and cheese on a Portuguese roll; with a side of fries of course. Up until today, I've only ever had breakfast sandwiches at Mac's. You can't go wrong with what you get in the morning. I'm a very particular person when it comes to an over medium egg and they get it JUST right ever single time. Back to today, I finally got the chance to go in for lunch and sit down for a change. I got just a cheeseburger and then I said everything on it. Now, I didn't quite know what that meant until I got into it. I said to my friend and fiancé like, "Man, I should've got mayo on this." Mr. Mac's is the epitome of a local business done right. The staff is jovial and seems to enjoy themselves. The manager gets to know everyone on a first name basis. He is more than happy to accommodate most requests - even as strange as they may be. The food is phenomenal here. It's cooked fresh and to order which just can't be beat. Can't say enough good things about their hotdogs. Specifically the chili cheese dogs. They are mind-blowingly good. Beware the chili is hot though so you need to be able to take a good amount of spice to eat them. I would also suggest adding raw onions and bacon to your dog.
