Here are a few reasons why prior to my parents heading in to town we needed to hire the services of Mr. Maid: Lets just say that my husband and I have very different ideas about what is clean and what isn't. Both of us work a lot of hours and do not have much free time to devote to deep cleaning. Also, where we both work from home there can sometimes be a trail of chaos from one floor to the next. We pretty much looked at a calendar one day and panicked, we had no time to spare before the parents came in to town. Our normal surface cleanings would in no way make our home acceptable for parents. Now, as fabulous is my husband is, he isn't a fan of cleaning. So, the search for a one time cleaning service was on! Sadly, yelp did not have a lot of reviews in the area so I had to use another review website which had Mr Maid ranked quite highly as one of the best cleaning services in Portland. They are PRICEY.........I repeat, they are pricey. It was $160 for four man hours. They were going send two people over for two hours and told me to keep an eye on them and let them know when they should move on to the next room because even if they are not done they leave at the end of the two hours. On the day when they were going to arrive no one called me to let me know when they would be arriving. I was told they would show up at 2pm but would call to confirm. When I called the office to check on them I was told that the people who work in the office were at lunch and would call me back. When it was time for them to arrive and no one showed up, I called again. I finally got through and was told that they were just finishing up and would be over soon but there would be three of them that would each work for 1 hour 20 minutes. Fine, whatever...I just wanted them to get to my house. When they did show up (about 20 minutes-30 minutes late) I gave them each a task and they started cleaning up a storm. They were all quite nice except one of them talked on the phone for about 20 minutes. Granted he was still cleaning but will one hand. For $160 I want both hands and possibly both feet cleaning my house thank you very much. They didn't finish the entire house but I hadn't expected them to. They did finish all of the tasks that I gave them and did a great job. I did need them to go back and fix a couple things but that was fine. They had me do a walk through of everything to make sure I was happy, which I was. One of them was a bit slow (the one on the phone........grrr) and I was bummed about that because he didn't do as much as the other two. Overall they did a good job, easily 3.5-4 stars. But, I am inclined to give 3 stars because of the confusion prior to them arriving, the one dude that talked on the phone and was slow, and the fact that one of the office workers was a bit snarky. When I told him that I was down for 2pm he questioned me, asking why I wasn't given a window? and that they ALWAYS give a window and not a set time. Ummmm, not my problem! I just wanted my $160 to not be wasted. If you say 2pm, I expect you at 2pm or to at least call me to let me know it would be 2:30. I would use them again. They did a good job but to be honest, I would shop around and see if I could get a better deal. I am really not sure if they are worth $160. But, my mom did say my house looked quite clean! Poor. We moved last week and I scheduled Mr Maid to come in to our totally empty house and clean the house for tenancy. They had one shot to do it as I turned over keys the next day and got on a plane the day after that - and Jeff knew that when we scheduled. After 3 hours and $300 for just the housekeeping portion, the floors were dirty as were many other surfaces. He did send a crew back to do the floors that afternoon, but has not done anything further to settle the fact that I had to clean after them. I sent him photos a week ago and a follow-up e-mail last night and I've not heard from anyone regarding resolution/restitution. My next stop is American Express to dispute the whole charge. Looks like I was also double charged for cleaning while they were doing the air ducts and carpet. Lame. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. read more

Mr. Maid crew is terrific to work with for deep cleaning. The asses, discuss options, and are up front about everything. In addition to cleaning for visual improvements for appliances, paint and trim, hardwoods etc., they also did an incredible job of cleaning the ducts and vents. For houses with smoke residue, dog hair, they can make it comfortable for people with allergies. I also like the considered us of natural and non-chemical cleaners, greener methods. read more

Awful! These guys are not cheap. They start at 2 guys for 2 hours minimum, @ $160. Which is fine, provided they do good work. They don't really. They do an adequate to sub-adequate job. I had them working on a living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. Not a big area to clean. They started with zero clutter, and things not looking too shabby. At $160, I was expecting it to look pretty spic n span by the time they finished. When they finished, I found out they charged me an extra $40 to clean 4 seats (not in the quote). The seats were still dirty, and what's more, they were double-charging the time (they are supposed to do things they charge extra for, separately from the 2 hours of cleaning. Instead they were doing it during the 2 hours, meaning I paid for 2 hours of cleaning but got considerably less). When they left, there was obvious dust left on the bookshelves, and cobwebs in the living room. So, I'm out $200, and feeling a little cheated. I call the main office, and speak with a manager. She is an idiot. She argues with me from the first second. She tells me that I should have inspected the cleaning before the guys left (even though the website guarantees their service for 24 hours). She tells me I must have a big place, or it must have been dirty. I have to argue with her for 15 minutes before she finally admits that double-charging me was unethical, and not right. Instead of offering me a refund, she curtly offers to have the guys come back for a few minutes. I finally got an apology and a refund for the over-charge, from a second manager, but needless to say, I was livid. read more

I hired Mr Maid to do a move in clean for a house I am moving into. The carpets were very clean and the guys were nice. So I tipped them both $20 each. After they left I examined their work and discovered that they failed to clean behind the stove and fridge, high surfaces and inside the kitchen cabinets as we agreed upon. I called Mr Maid to complain and subsequently one of the maids who did the work called back and left a message. (I was surprised a manager or an owner didn't call me back!) Since then I have called Mr. Maid 3 times and have not gotten a return call. read more

I called these guys in a panic when our normal cleaning crew fell through at the last minute a day before it was necessary to stage a high end property. I got lucky and they were able to send a team of two within the hour. Also problematic: I could not be present to supervise the work. I just saw the work for myself and it is awesome! All the baseboards in this 2000+ square foot home are gleaming, the wood floors are shining, the sinks and tubs are free of water marks of any kind, and all the appliances look great inside and out. I just used Mr. Maid for the first time and they were wonderful! I live out of state and needed to coordinate a cleaning for a condo I own and rent out. This all had to be done quickly and timely and thoroughly. Jeff was so friendly and easy to work with. I would highly recommend them. read more

We hired Mr. Maid to do a move out clean on a rental house that we own. At this point, I wish I had checked yelp before hiring them. The previous tenant had not been particularly tidy, however, all their stuff was out, so it was just a matter of scrubbing the house down. With no furniture to work around this should be pretty easy, right? They came to the house and started in. After 4 hours, I received a call to let me know they were still cleaning the fridge and hadn't done anything else. At this point, they're telling me they want more money to finish the job. Since i felt stuck, and needed to have the place finished, I let them go another 2 hours. Personally, I think this is a horrible business tactic to trap people into paying more in the middle of the job. A couple days later, I went to the house to make sure things were ready to show it, and i realized that Mr. Maid didn't clean the floors, walls, horizontal surfaces - nothing! There were cobwebs, dirt on the floor, drips and spatters on the kitchen cabinets, etc. Nothing was clean, except the inside of the fridge and they cleaned one carpet. It was so bad that everyone who has stepped into the house since has asked if I'm going to call a cleaning service before renting it out. Unfortunately for me, they only come back for a re-clean if you call within 24 hours, and since I don't live there and didn't go back for 3 days, I was out of luck. Now, I'm out $500 and I have to clean the house myself. I wouldn't recommend Mr. Maid to anyone. read more

I use another provider but they weren't able to come, so i phoned Mr Maid (second or third - i called around) to get a quote for cleaning my main floor only. Michael, whom you talk to, was clear, the cost sounded reasonable, and best of all they could send a crew pronto - the next day. Three men arrived, very professional and courteous. They used my equipment (they have their own but i prefer mine) and cleaned 7 rooms plus a bath to perfection. Quiet, smart, careful, no drama. Perfect. read more

I called on Mr Maid to help me prepare my home for a wedding reception (mine) and to clean up after the party. This was over a weekend so I was worried that I would have a hard time getting help. My house is old (built in 1894) and there are some unique features requiring care. Randy and his team made the house sparkle before the reception and brought the place back to order the next day- including removing frosting and wine from the area rug. Randy made hosting my own wedding reception possible. I would do business with Mr Maid any day. read more

I called Mr. Maid on a Monday to schedule an appointment for the next week during the summer. (A very busy time for housekeepers.) I was hosting my in-laws for the 4th of July, so I wanted it cleaned by the 1st. We agreed on the 1st at 9:00 am and a team of two people showed up at the time I requested. At exactly 9 AM. They cleaned my house, which was filthy because I just had hosted a party with a few friends that got out of hand. I was told there was a four-man-hour minimum when I called and asked. I paid $220 for the total. For two people with four man-hours, they got done in two hours. As they were meant to. My house hasn't looked this good in years. The work they did was amazing, and they followed a list I had provided. They cleaned my oven and the rest of my kitchen, my living room, both bedrooms, both bathrooms, and my basement/ game room. Mr. Maid is a tad pricey, but you do get what you pay for. I will definitely be going to them again. read more

We just recently purchased a house and was needing to move in right away due to us having to be out of our other place quickly. We received the keys to our new place on Thursday and had the movers showing up on Saturday. We never expected the house to be in the condition it was left in but it was a wreck. My wife was shocked at the mess they left. We contacted Mr. Maid and told them our situation and they sent their operations manager out the same day to look at the job. We were needing not only house cleaning but we also needed carpet cleaning, air duct cleaning and hauling garbage. We were expecting to have to hire four different companies and was already expecting to call off the movers, which would have cost us hundreds of dollars. We were surprised to not only find out that Mr. Maid was able to do the house cleaning but was also able and willing to take care of all our needs. To top it all off Mr. Maid made arrangements to take care of all this work for us on Friday. They had a crew show up Friday morning and worked all day to get the job completed. They truly saved the day. We were expecting to pay dearly for all this but we got a really good deal and excellent work. We will definitely recommend them to everyone. My wife was happy.
