Stopped by on a Sunday around 5:30pm. It wasn't busy at first, but by about 6:15 it started filling up pretty quickly. They had reggaeton playing, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The vibe was casual and laid-back. We were brought warm chips and salsa right away, which was nice. Our waitress took our order, but she was pretty absent after that. It was hard to get more napkins and refills on our beer and soda. The fajitas for two were really good -- 5/5. The cilantro rice, though, was a 1/5. It was very dry and way too salty, which was disappointing. The elote (corn on the cob), which I was really excited about, was a 5/5. So good. One thing that also disappointed me was the guacamole. The menu says it's prepared tableside, which usually explains the higher price. However, that wasn't the case for us. It wasn't made at the table, so that was a little frustrating since it seemed like we were paying extra for that experience. Overall, the food was mostly great, but the customer service was lacking. It was frustrating because we could see people waiting, and we were ready to pay and leave to free up the table. Absolutely amazing!!! We randomly chose this restaurant on a Sunday early afternoon. It was perfect. The staff was very friendly, and our waiter was so nice. He recommended his favorite dishes and what's popular. I was so pleased with our food. The flavor was incredible and everything was so fresh. The restaurant is small but very nice inside. Just open in the location that was formerly Roasting Oven for rotisserie chicken, right next to the Dunkins on Gold Hill Rd. Ugalde is the same family that owns and operates Casa Tequilla in Rock Hill. I went for lunch this morning around 11am and it was just starting to get busy. I had their Sopa De Pollo which was good though a little light on the chicken. I also had throw tacos, one chicken and one beef on flour tortilla. They offer free chips and salsa with mild and hot salsa options Sadly the tortilla chips were cold.. The Staff is great, I met Jessie and Cesar, two of the brothers who are in the family business. Their Father is nicknamed Rayo, Spanish for lightening, because he was such a quick worker. They have an excellent and extensive menu lots of choices & something for everyone. They also have a very nice outside patio. The food and service are great. But the prices are ridiculous. $24 for lunch for an enchilada plate is over the top. Base price $17 they charged me $2 for a small portion of sour cream which is too much. Add taxes, tip and their extra credit card fee and it ends up at $24. No drink either. Our server was amazing, answering so many of our questions (he probably thought we had never been to a Mexican restaurant before). 2 of us ordered super chimichanga (steak) and it was massive, we probably should have shared one. We visited Mr Rayo last night after spotting the sign on Gold Hill a few days ago. After our dinner, we agreed that we finally have an excellent Mexican restaurant in the area with truly super staff who were friendly and responsive to our needs. Everything from the chips/salsa to the (house) Margaritas and entrees were delicious! We had the Chile Verde which is pork slow-cooked in green chilis and spices. We also really liked their Mole served over grilled chicken. I loved my Tortilla Soup which is a meal in itself. I also tried a Chile Poblano with its tasty-not-spicy but very good red sauce. Sadly, there was no room for dessert. I look forward to trying the Tres Leches next time which will hopefully be soon. Note: we were there around 5:30 and were seated immediately. We love this new spot for us. Service was amazing, drinks and chips were brought very quickly. My wife ordered the Chile rellenos and I ordered the Chile verde. Both were absolutely delicious. Very friendly staff. When I went they charged a fee for credit cards, so pay cash. The food we got was great, however, we didn't get tortillas which are important part of fajita. It was delivery so who knows where they went. If you love, lots of selection, this is your place. Of the amount of food you get for your money is tremendous. The servers and the speed of the kitchen the consistency is awesome. I do wish they had more TEX-Mex on the menu as I got spoiled after going to San Antonio. Also, I would recommend getting the top shelf margaritas there, which are pricey. There's the good bad and the ugly in my opinion. Side note, they do have lots of outdoor seating, which is lovely in our part of the country.
