He got everything under control quickly. Later, Chris and Greg came out to replace some plumbing in our kitchen and basement. Highly recommend. another company was to do work for me. They charged me $9600.00 and did not do the work. I was expected to pay anyway. I hired Mr Rooter to see what if anything they had done. The hose bib was put on upside down, the pex pipe was left on the ground and not secured. None of the water heater or washing machine and lavatory was touched yet I was charged. Requested a quote for a simple stub out with valve, on an existing gas line meter accessible from the driveway outside wall. They said it would be $99 diagnostic fee just to show up and look at it because "a licensed plumber" had to be summoned for gas work. I said, "So you want me to pay you $99 so that I may have the privilege of paying you even more?" They said it's refundable if I have them do the work. Well, nothing is broke or leaking. There's no diagnosis. They saw the photo. Would take about 30 mins tops. So I'd be cautious hiring someone if you're possibly not even going to get a licensed plumber in another situation (thought even apprentices had to be with a licensed plumber). They're playing the "cherry picking game" where you feel like you have to get your $99 back... and if it's not a "big job" like new construction or a big bathroom remodel - they don't really want this little stuff. Leave that to the local guys who build relationships.. so local is the route I went and you'll see my review of those guys when I get it done. read more

He's an electro-mechanical engineer who can literally rebuild an engine blindfolded but usually comes home looking like he lost a fight with a sawmill and an oil vat. I'm a Network Administrator for the local landfill, which means I spend my days managing literal and digital trash. We are the "Computer Geek Power Couple" of the century. ​But when our drains stopped, our collective 40 years of technical expertise amounted to... absolutely nothing. ​Enter Garrett and George from Mr. Rooter. These two young men are legends. ​The Situation ​We had just drained our entire life savings to give my mother a proper funeral, so my anxiety was at an 11. Every 15 minutes, I was hovering over them like a glitchy server, asking, "Can you fix it? Is it fixed? How about now?" I was basically a human pop-up ad for stress. ​Meanwhile, my husband--the man who fixes everything--had to sit on his hands and watch someone else work on his "hardware." It was a blow to the ego, but Garrett and George handled us with the patience of saints. ​The Weather vs. Garrett ​At one point, Garrett was in the yard digging a hole to the center of the Earth when the sky opened up. I am going to just say upfront. Way too Expensive. $560 to have my drain unclogged! In addition the guy was not a Plumber so if there was another problem he would not have been able to help. So, they came, they told me it would cost $685 to run a jet through a short distance of outdoor drain pipe. I sent them packing. That's twice what someone else quoted me. They wasted my time, their time, their gas. They could have saved all of that by just telling me the price over the phone. This borders on the unethical. We noticed a basement drain backup and had Garrett out to evaluate within an hour. He carefully, thoughtfully and methodically identified the problem with a scope. It happened to be a backflow flap valve that became dislodged and was blocking the drain pipe. The valve was located and reseated and drain lines were flushed. He consulted with George his manager who had Jason and Nicholas help replacing old water heater as it was sitting over the top of valve box. We are very pleased with the team of men that quickly and professionally identified and resolved our problem before any significant damage was done. Had 2 clogged catch basins on exterior of house. Charged me nearly $800.00 to snake 1 hard enough to break my line under concrete sidewalk. Never snaked the second basin because of standing water. I was told by technician that he'd return but haven't seen him for couple days. No report or estimate to fix issue was provided. I even helped the guy for 3hrs, taking time off from work. Technician was friendly and all but the service doesn't warrant such an exorbitant fee. Basically I have to call another plumber to come address the issue I spent $800 for them to address. read more

I called about a clogged kitchen sink.The plumber first told me about some kind of long term program for over $700; then quoted me $549 to unclog the drain, which I said seemed very high to me and I would get another estimate. Subsequently, my sink was unclogged by a reputable plumber for $315! As an aside, I called Mr, Rooter 2 years ago for a small pipe burst in my garage and the plumber who came out also quoted me an extremely high repair amount; the plumber I eventually used also charged me much less. read more

Ridiculous service call. An upstairs toilet was not drained properly and rather than snake the drain from the toilet as requested, the tech offered an estimate to replace both toilets with Toto toilets to the tune of $2200. The reason? The flappers were "worn out." He ran water in the shower for several minutes but that was not where the problem was. I will NEVER recommend this company again. Ever. read more
