Spent the $99 to have Mr. Rooter come out and give me estimate. Did all the diagnosis myself before they came out and validated that one of the heating elements was not working on the hot water heater so knew exactly what needed to be done. Tried to get estimate over the phone but no luck. I have replaced them myself and outside of draining the water heater, it takes about 20 minutes to unscrew the old and screw in a new one...but I figured if the $100 goes towards the work, it should cost me max, another $150 for labor and $50 for parts. $300 all in. They quoted me $677 dollars. (The cost of a new water heater.) How much to replace the water heater? $2400 was the quote. Now I must give it to the technician, he was very helpful and gave me suggestions on water heaters to go with if I decided to do it myself. Ultimately, I ended up buying a new water heater for $699 and installed myself in 2 hours. My math says they are charging roughly $850 an hour in labor and that assumes they pay retail for their water heaters. read more

I scheduled to have my bathroom sink pop drain fixed as it is leaking. First off I scheduled and they said there is no fee for them to come and assess issue. Then another call came and said that they do charge a service fee of $89. They then sent the first plumber to come. She said there is no leak, she did a "flood test" twice and there is no leak. This is despite me telling her there is a leak that is why I called you. So she went and charged me the $90 and told me that one of the plumbing pipe was not done the right way (not causing any issues) and if I want that fixed. I said we will pass for now as it is not broken. I went to check the sink again after just running the water for a few seconds and there it is...I see the leak. So I called and informed them that if they charge me $90 that someone need to come again and reasses the leak. They made a call to the first plumber that came and they called me back and asked, "Do you want the plumbing pipe fixed?". I said No, all I want fixed is the leaking pop drain and not something else that is not causing any Problem. I asked if they can send another person to look at it. The second time around, a very professional person Brian Buelt came with his apprentice. They wore booties to protect the floor which the first person did not. They went straight to work and fixed the problem. He did not charge me anything. Im so glad they fixed the issue and not waste my time w other stuff that I dont need. Disappointed w the person answering their calls/schedules. Fantastic same day service! We had an issue with the drain lines that our downspouts feed into being backed up. Mr. Roger was referred to us by Moss Busters who services our roof and gutters. We called Mr. Rooter and they were able to send a technician the same day. The inspection was free of charge and the technician Chris did a fantastic job. He was thorough in flushing all of the lines that our downspouts feed into and running camera through to ensure there was no remaining blockage. Support a independent local plumber and don't get ripped off. I had a small repair that needed to be made to my kitchen sink shut off. I work with plumbing contractors often through work so I was familiar with what needed to be done and what the costs usually are. I was charged more than double for the work and it was done by an apprentice that completed the work but then damaged my vacuum breaker (which now leaks) when the job was finished so he could check the pressure. I was given an invoice with no detail or line items and was told that the prices for this job were pre-written. If you are being honest with your charges then you would have no problems disclosing what you are charging for. Overall the work was not completed to my satisfaction and the damage that was left was just icing on the cake. I did have a follow up call with the branch manager but as polite as he was he was dismissive of my concerns and stood by the policy of not disclosing what charges are needed for work to be complete. Mr Rooter will be prompt and responsive to your needs but expect to be charged more. read more

Had a clogged toilet that plunging and running a 15ft snake didn't fix. Tried for a day to get the clog to pass to no avail. Called Mr. Rooter and had a tech (Phillip) at my house within 3 hours. Fortunately for me when I went to show the issue to the tech the clogged cleared itself. Lucky me! The tech (Phillip) was a super nice guy. He wrote me an estimate for what the repair would cost so if it happens again in the future I know what the repair cost might be, the cost would have been fair. The tech (Phillip) didn't even charge me for the trouble of coming out. I offered to pay him a tip using cash app or venmo but he politely declined and he genuinely just seemed happy that my issue was resolved. Pretty happy with my experience. I can't believe I paid it, but I was charged over $900 to unclog a small residential bathroom sink line. I had already removed the plastic j-bend and connecting piping but didn't have the tool to remove a stuck wall penetration fitting. The plumber replaced the stuck fitting and snaked the line. He also snaked the shower drain line. It was easy an easy job and only took 2 hours. I was charged about $250 for the 3 ABS plastic fittings he supplied. The rest was labor. He apologized for the high price and blamed it on "INFLATION". $450 an hour is outrageous. For what little was done $100/hour is high but tolerable. That's what they can do to save their goodwill and public image. read more

We paid $99 for a "service estimate" to have Mr. Rooter fix and connect a leaky water line to the toilet. We were told that would apply to the cost if we accepted the work. For what they did, that's all this should have cost - but soon we were presented with a $350 estimate to "fix the leak". The service tech said this would include the replacement of the the CPVC supply fitting if it was determined to need replacement. 15 minutes later, the service tech announced he was done. We were told that the supply fitting was probably stripped, but he reconnected the valve anyway and "thinks" it might work. I asked if Mr. Rooter guaranteed their work, and was told that they do not. That's the whole reason we had Mr. Rooter do the work, and then to find out they won't stand by their work if a problem arises ? Worse yet, our toilet tank was found to have an additional leak between the tank and the bowl. It's not a major repair, but Instead of offering to fix that problem with parts that normally cost under $10 at most plumbing supply stores, Mr. Rooter prepared and sent two additional service estimates between $500 if we bought a new toilet they would install, or $1200 if they bought and installed a new toilet. We really didn't need a new toilet. Mr. Rooter was here about 20 minutes and we still had a leaky toilet when they left. I spent the rest of the day fixing what didn't get done right the first time. Feeling ripped off and will avoid using Mr. Rooter for any future work. read more

Extremely happy with our experience! I discovered that our laundry room (located in the lower level of our split-level home) was flooding yesterday evening. At first I blamed the washing machine but after a few hours of clean up, we realized it was actually the main drain for the house that was over-flowing every time we ran any water in the house. I contacted Mr. Rooter at 10:30pm on a Friday night and was connected to a plumber within 15 minutes. He offered to come out right away, but I told him the water issue appeared stable at the moment so the morning would be fine. Caleb came out just after 8am on Saturday morning, went over the issues, reviewed all of our options plus pricing, and got to work! It was all finished within an hour and a half. These guys came within hours of my call and did an amazing job! I had some very clogged pipes and garbage disposal waste that was backing up in the utility sink in my basement! After it was cleared, we also discovered I had a leak. In just a couple of hours they were able to completely clean out my kitchen and basement pipes, replace a portion of pipe and helped clean up the water that leaked on my basement floor. I was terrified as to what this would cost me, but it was all VERY reasonable. They also gave me a big bottle of eco friendly pipe cleaner to help keep my pipes clean moving forward! Everywhere else I called would have me waiting for DAYS before service and had expensive fees just for coming out to inspect the situation. Not only was their inspection free (whether I used them or not), but these guys were very honest and explained everything along the way, and at no point made me feel pressured to purchase any services I was not ready for.
