We had food delivered so I can't vouch for the interior of the restaurant. Special dinner seems like a lot of food, mostly tortillas and lettuce though. Very mild and sweet flavors. Ground beef filling is decent texturally, the chicken a bit dry and lacking flavor. There just wasn't much meat filling. Queso with jalapeño is very mild and a bit thin. Enchiladas Rancheros were also mostly tortillas. They skimped on the bean, cheese and beef enchiladas. There was plenty of dry chicken though. Food was hot and fresh but we will probably not order from Mr Jalapeño again. read more

We are new here, coming from 60 yrs in California, so you could imagine me being a little skeptical on finding comparable Mexican food here in the South. keeping in mind that there are many different regions of Mexico and Central America and the food is prepared a little different in these areas, add to that the "American influence" you will find in the large chain restaurants, people's favorites can be quite subjective. We have only eaten here a couple times so far and I'll say they do a good job. I ordered the "Enchiladas Verdes" (chicken enchiladas with Verde salsa) Was it my favorite Verde salsa? No....Was it good? Yes. Overall the food was good and a large selection of menu items. Staff were very nice and accommodating, the service was very good. They do get busy at times and that can be challenging .....We look forward to going back and exploring more items on the menu. read more

Very good! I ordered the chicken asada tacos but received steak instead, and it was tender and delicious...so no complaints. Along with the refried beans and extra order of their delicious guacamole, it made for a relaxing lunch on the patio. Hub ordered the California burrito and very much enjoyed it. My grandparents come here for dinner every Friday, and it never disappoints! Tonight I joined them and ordered the chips and queso, and the Pollo Fundido. The queso was delicious and fresh, with equally delicious, crunchy tortilla chips. The entree was also delicious, very cheesy and very cozy tasting. Highly recommend with a side of sour cream! The service was excellent, we were greeted and smiles and served efficiently throughout the meal. Can't wait to come back!!! read more

The staff is friendly, you get free chips and salsa, very efficient. Only thing that really turned me off was I had to use the restroom before eating and the smell in the restroom was awful! Smelled like they used the same mop to mop the kitchen. Smelled like old rotten wet mop and bad seafood. The chimichangas were on the small side, but was tasty. WATCH YOUR BILL! My wife and I recently visited Mr. Jalapeno Mexican restaurant in Simpsonville SC and were extremely disappointed with our experience. The food itself was average in terms of taste and quality. However, worse than that were the unethical practices they attempted on two items while we dined there - up charging our food without any indication on the menu that there was an additional charge for grilled chicken instead of shredded chicken. Then having the manager tell us to pay and not come back when we questioned them about it. You should ALWAYS be transparent about what your customer is going to pay. If you are not and someone calls you on it, it makes you look like you are trying to get over on people. But a decent restaurant that understands people should have a simple system that is explainable on the menu, and easily implemented. Like: "Substitutions add $2" or something similar. Staff is always fast and responsive and very polite. Me and my family love coming here, I always get the steak and shrimp with rice and it's delicious everytime. I can say the margaritas and mixed drinks aren't the best but I go for the food so in my opinion that doesn't matter. Everyone was super nice and attentive there BUT the quality of the food was a little questionable. My dad got the steak fajitas and ended up with 90% vegetables and 10% meat to the point where there was barely enough steak to fill 2 tortillas.
