Don't sit near the bar here and hopefully ya don't get the bartender as your server . Most people are gonna be like huh ya usually want the bartender as your server at most places . Well not here I get he was busy making drinks as the same time as serving us and others but most of the time he was making drinks and felt like he forget about our food . But lucky he did come in clutch finally at the end when we had to tell his manger about how we been waiting around forever for our food . At least the bar tender is nice . Outside Of that the food here is pretty good just the tortillas are dry and the drinks could and should be wayyy colder and not room temperature. If all the other Mexican restaurants are busy this is like your last resort. Wouldn't be my first choice or last . Overall it's good just don't rush to eat here . read more

Hubby and I went to IRC for a late dinner and sat in the bar. The new bartender, Jeffery, is great. It may be my imagination, but I thought our top shelf margaritas were better than usual. The chips were very fresh and served with salsa and avocado green sauce. For an appetizer we had a small order of queso that is severed with fresh and pickled jalapeños as well as pico de gallo on the side. The El Patron for 1 was excellent. We stopped by this little Mexican joint because it was right across from the Hampton Inn we happened to be staying out while in Seabrook, TX. This place caught our eye because my wife was looking for a place that served a fun drink and they had a rotating cocktail flight that looked really interesting. I do have to give this place credit for trying to stick out from the competition. From walking in, they have a lot of things that they offer to their customers to enhance the experience including great daily drink specials, free soft serve ice cream, a huge expansive menu, and as I mentioned before, cocktail flights. So did we do try the flight? Unfortunately, the month we came by, the flight was adult soda flavors which didn't quite appeal to our taste buds. Instead, we tried the Acapulco which was a mix of rum, fresh citrus, and blue curacao. It was the refreshment I exactly wanted after walking all day in the hot Texas sun. Now on to the food. Portions, like many Mexican joints, are large and very filling. We sampled a little bit of everything by ordering a couple different mixed plates. All of the food was tasty, I especially like the refried beans here. The one thing that really stuck out though was their green poblano sauce. OMG, that sauce was delish. I ordered a side order of just that sauce so that I could pour that stuff on everything I ate. So good. I wish I could have bought a bottle! Service was quick and friendly. Worst service ever. Was seated with my family and then we waited. No service although all neighboring tables were served. Then male server came over to ask if we had been served. We said "No" and he said he would take care of it. Saw him several times after that but no service. I called in an order to go and arrived for pickup 30 minutes later. There was no one at the front desk to greet me. I stood there patiently for 10 minutes and watched all the waiters and waitress come and go. They all noticed me standing there, but no one offered to attend to me as I was repetitively ignored. Then a waiter came up to me, but looked through me as if I was invisible. He never offered any help. This is when I found the need to speak up. I asked if he could help me with an order which I called in. He stated he would check, but instead looked beyond me to a party of about 10 people who came in after me. He then immediately led them past me and failed to wait on me. In spite of me verbalizing that I was there before them and I have been waiting, I was once again ignored. A second waitress came out of the kitchen and I had to raise my voice to yell across the restaurant and inquire if someone could help me with a "To Go Order." She stated that she would but then ignored me and receded back to the kitchen. A third employee finally came to the front desk. I had to ask again if someone was could help me, as I pondered otherwise leaving. I asked her what was going on, since there was a failure of anyone to attend to my order and I complained about the situation? She failed to respond, inquire about the situation. or apologize. She only asked what my order was. It was apparent that my order was sitting there at the desk waiting for someone to attend to me. However, until that point, no one was interested. This was the worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant in over 50 years. I left the restaurant with a feeling of devaluation and a sense that my business is not worth any attention. What a disappointment. The food is always good but the service tonight just wasn't there. Red Flag sign outside hiring all positions. The chip lady brought us chips we waited and waited. No one came to our table. They sat three other tables after us. We knew then we're all in trouble. So we did what any hungry thirsty customers would do we walked out. The street tacos are tasty (try the Al Pastor)! The avocado sauce that comes out with the tortilla chips is good on everything and kills the heat a little on the spicy items. This is a nice clean restaurant with freshly prepared food and polite service. So, why the low rating? Iguanas Ranas Cantina anchors a small strip mall along NASA Road 1 in Seabrook (it sits just a few doors down from a Chinese food joint that I frequent). It features comfortable tables and booths and is comfortably lit and not too kitschy, like many other Tex-Mex joints. ~ I was promptly shown to my table and was immediately met by my server. I told him I'd like a Dos XX (amber) and a glass of water, and that I was hitting the restroom to wash my hands. (Bathroom was clean, by the way.) He was a very polite man ... almost cruise ship polite. I ordered a beef chimichanga and a been/cheese/lettuce chalupa a la carte. All were beautiful and were fairly impressive in the flavor department. The beef was nicely seasoned and they didn't skimp on the portion. Most impressive was the lettuce on the chalupa. It was a cool fresh mixture of various lettuces. Nice. The red salsa, albeit served just this side of warm (I despise warm salsa) had a nice flavor. The green avocado sauce was laden with chunks of avocado and had a nice cilantro/serrano flavor. This is probably some of the best (avocado sauce) that I've had outside my own kitchen. And now, my concerns... This is the first time I've ever been served a chimichanga without some sort of topping. No queso, chili or ranchero sauce. It did come with a 2TB cup of queso and sides of sour cream and guacamole. This wasn't a deal breaker for me, but accoutrements like these are more appropriate for handheld food like tacos and burritos. I asked my server, as he brought my beer, if they had a salsa verde and he said he would bring some to the table. What he brought was another bowl of the chunky avocado sauce, which I didn't need. I could never get his attention to correct this (more on that in a second) and, to add insult to injury, I was charged for the extra chunky avocado sauce. Back to my server, who (again) was very polite... I think he was lacking in training. When he said "With your permission, I'll place the beer on the table," I thought he might've been joking or at least going overboard with the politeness. But I really think he didn't know a lot about what he was doing. (He even asked me if it was OK to remove my menu from the table after he took my order.) Though I didn't again see my server until he brought my check, something in itself that was prompted by me leaning from my booth and staring back toward the kitchen, I was checked on by another man. Once. All the while, it sounded like there was some major grab-ass being played in the kitchen. It reminded me of the 7th grade boys locker room. If I were eating at Dave & Busters, I wouldn't bother even bringing this up. But such behavior is inappropriate here. While I was eating, a couple came in and picked up a to-go order. I think they might be on to something. Had my order been to-go, just about every negative part of my experience at Iguana Ranas Cantina could've been avoided. Review is based on delivery through DoorDash. We placed an order with an estimated delivery time of 25-30 minutes due to the fact that the restaurant is only 2 miles from our house. Dasher arrived at the restaurant after 20 minutes, waited an additional 20 minutes for the order, then left because the order still wasn't ready. Another dasher picked up the delivery, arrived at the restaurant, and waited until the order was ready, which ended up being 55 minutes after we placed the order. When the dasher dropped off the order, two items were left off the delivery and one item was a disaster. The seafood enchiladas are supposed to come with shrimp and crawfish, but there were no crawfish at all and only 3 small shrimp. The dish wasn't hot (barely even warm) and the shredded cheese inside the enchiladas wasn't melted. It's like they just rolled sheedded cheese in a tortilla and poured some queso on top with a couple of shrimp, a slice of mushroom, and a couple of pieces of bell pepper. Won't be ordering from here again. Who knew it would be so tough finding decent Tex-Mex in Texas? read more

I was in Iguana Rana's today laminating the closing of one of the last surviving Pancho's Mexican Buffett restaurants in Houston with the woman who gives you your To go order. I caused her to remember the glory days of Pancho's. I do that to people. We spoke of old memories of mine and my Yelp Reviews. I explained to her that for years Laredo's on 146 in Seabrook was the Mexican Food restaurant in Town. That was a long time ago. Between Pancho's and Iguana Rana's, hands down Iguana's is better. It is a good place to get Mexican food with flavor and spice. It is my go to Mexican food restaurant, because of it's location and is just really good. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants far and wide and have never had refried beans as good as Iguana's. I do not know what kind of voodoo or sorcery goes into their creation, but what ever it is someone must have made a deal with the devil to achieve beans THAT good. The Charo beans are good too. Trying to make beans on that level at home will never happen for me. I go to Iguana's as often as I can. I am always met with friendly wait staff some are even willing to listen to me jabber about Pancho's. Seabrook now has many options for Mexican food, but it is all a matter of opinion where you go, but for me, I will go here and enjoy all the food they serve with a nice delicious side of beans. For those of you reading this, please say a prayer for my wife who must live through the aftermath of my bean consumption tomorrow. read more

I want to like this place, especially when my family loves going here..... however , there are just somethings I can't get passed every time we visit . The smell upon entering alone makes Me queasy! It's bleach and cleaning solution which I can appreciate a clean eating environment , but I don't want the odor so strong That it is the only thing I can smell above the food !! We decided to sit in the bar area this last visit, not directly at the bar however, as the bar tender had a fan blasting behind the bar causing his long , untied hair to blow everywhere. Now as a patron consuming drinks and food, this is disgusting!!!!! Not only was his hair flying everywhere , he couldn't manage to keep it in place, so he continually touched it without washing his hands !!! I would have lost it if he was touching anything of mine ..... this would, without question, deter me from ever sitting anywhere this guy may possibly touch my food . In town for a cruise and had an awesome dining experience. The food was VERY good and the jalapeño cucumber margaritas were perfect. They had live music playing and the service was great. A stand out to me was the managers service of interacting with tables and made me and my family feel very welcome. The free ice cream on the way out is something special and a great gesture. Next time we are in Texas we will be arranging a hotel near this restaurant just to come back. read more
