We've been coming to Mr. Sushi for years, and the food is consistently delicious. That's what keeps us coming back. The sushi is always fresh, the menu has a great variety, and we've never been disappointed with the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself could really use some attention. It's starting to look neglected. The chairs are very old and stained, and the dining area doesn't feel as clean as it should. There's also a section near the bar that's always filled with boxes and paperwork, making it look more like a storage area or office than part of the restaurant. It takes away from the overall dining experience. The bathrooms are another area that needs improvement--they often have a strong odor and don't appear to be well maintained. The restaurant gets very busy, especially on weekends, which shows how popular it is. That's why I think investing in some renovations and better upkeep would make a huge difference. I got a seat at the sushi bar and ordered the Sashimi Dinner and a Hot Green Tea. The Sashimi Dinner came with a Miso soup and House Salad which was nice but were both pretty disappointing. Unfortunately the Sashimi dinner was quite a disappointment as well. Very soggy, soft, falling apart texture from lack of freshness in the all of the fish, not to mention the flavor. I also have to add this was one of the gamiest tasting, smelling & textural salmon sashimi I have been served. I had a negative experience at a restaurant regarding their tipping policy. The bill reflects only what I paid for the meal. I believe that customers should have the freedom to decide if a tip is deserved and how much to give, rather than having that decision influenced by the restaurant. This feels like an abuse of power and a deceptive practice by the restaurant owner. Because of this experience, I have decided not to return to this establishment. The hibachi and the service was mediocre. Two of our party ordered steak and it turned out very tough. The standard vegetables for hibachi were sparse and the server definitely did not know how to parcel out the food equally. All the standard tricks and amusements for hibachi seemed to fall flat (the steam engine onion/ saki squirting out the bottle and catapulting zucchini ). Not on the list of places we have to return. The manager came out and greeted every party except ours and the server had to be asked to bring the bill after not checking in with us in approximately 15 minutes. Me and my husband were at the bar the other night and had cocktails and sushi. I left to go home to feed our dogs. My husband stayed and wanted hibachi and when he asked to be moved to a hibachi table he was denied "because he was a single party" and didn't have anyone else with him. This is ABSOLUTLY unacceptable, they cannot refuse to serve 1 person for Hibachi. He was told that it is "policy" but it is not stated anywhere on the menu or posted on the door as a "policy". My wife had an unsalted edemami starter and a lunch of vegetable tempura, Ton katse with pork and white rice. We found the food to be fresh and quite good. Our Miso soup was too salty for my wife, but it was fine for me. Our server was a bit lacking. She placed one fork for my wife and not for me. There was another family of three people at our table and they were a lot of fun to talk to which made our meal more enjoyable. Our food was fresh and delicious and it was a great value for the money. I only give it four stars because I didn't like the fact that they had crates or buckets with dirty dishes and garbage-filled bags against the wall not too far from the hibachi grill and they gave off a bad smell to me. I also got this broccoli sushi which was literally exactly what you would expect. A piece of broccoli in sushi. For this reason, it gets a 7/10 because there was no wow factor. Vegetable gyozas were mid (6/10). Miso was standard miso (6/10). Portion sizes were big. The ambiance is cute and there is nice lighting. They are also open pretty late compared to the nearby options, so that's a plus. TLDR: All the food at Mr Sushi and Grill is literally exactly what you would expect for a Japanese hibatchi place. The fried rice tasted like fried rice. Udon tasted like udon. Sushi tasted like sushi. The only disappointment was not being able to meet Mr. Sushi. read more

Give this place a second chance after a really lackluster first visit a while ago. Service this time was a lot better, my server was much nicer and patient when waiting on my order, plus asked if I had any allergies. I felt like he was very attentive asking how was my meal and moving fast to bring my food to my table. As for the food, I loved spicy tuna martini, not only is super unique but very delicious. Actually spicy lump of tuna, on top of crunchy spiraled carrot with tempura crab legs. Honestly well worth the price. The dream roll & shrimp tempura roll, both were delicious and not skimpy on filling, but let me tell you thin sliced lemon on sushi is awesome, like a good balance of salty and bitter. We ordered the Middletown roll, dream roll, Christmas roll. Middletown town roll was very good. Dream roll was not something I would have chosen but it's a favorite of my BFF. Glad she convinced me to try it.? Boy that fresh shaving of lemon adds a different and interesting flavor to this roll! Lastly, The Christmas roll sounds good, but it was very bland and disappointing. My friend also raves about their Hibachi at this establishment.
