Unfortunately, my Senior citizen had an awful experience, from the lack of adequate customer service communication, sparse waiting room and vehicle technicians that break car parts without recourse. Tire installation appointment was at 9am, but bc technician arrived late, installation didn't occur until after 1pm, in meantime, my senior citizen was unaware of situation and was left waiting. This location needs customer service improvements, from soft skills to better waiting room amenities (coffee/water, the basics). I felt awful that I referred my senior to this location because of the amount of stress and frustration they experienced from a tire installation appt. There is a guy at front desk, Black, fat, bald. he is so rude, so ignorant. dont want to work. he act like i make him work. talks rude, he told me to go away cause he was busy, all about attitude. i asked his name he refused it because i told him to give him bad reviews. but everything makes sense though, i even called customer support they didnt even care you know. that's why people like this never get fired. no one cares about customer in this country. this is the 5th mr tire store that i tried. just go another place and also I've been making appointments online for the past two days for "Mr. Tire." I've sent a well in depth email to the address I was given a few days ago. Hopefully after this short version, I will receive a response. I wasn't going to take this to Yelp but after my experience I wanted to bring awareness to Mr. Ayo the assistant manager. His behavior was dismissive and chauvinistic. After providing Mr. Ayo with two documents stating the alignment he charged me for wasn't correct he then proceeded to argue with me and find any textbook answer he could to explain how I was wrong. He went into my lack of driving skill, he pointed out that I waited too long so I'm out of the warranty window(I wasn't), he also wrote in the notes that my shaking was because I declined services he suggested. He was trying to make it seem that he tried everything he could do but I just wasn't compliant. I asked Mr. Ayo to correct the note he made to the truth but in return he took the print out from me, balled it up, threw it in the trash and yelled "you don't need it". Honestly, I can't help to shake my belief that because I am a young woman I was overcharged, overlooked, and disregarded. Ironically, most of the lower starred reviews are from women being mishandled. Lol Go figure. I asked Mr. Ayo if he could supply me with a copy of the alignment that he "knows for a fact" that I received and what my alignment point was when I came in to determine if I even needed one to begin with. Mr. Ayo got the manager on his cell phone and spent 20mins walking around the shop talking to her and looking for paperwork for my alignment that he never found. He explained that it would take another 15 to 20mins to get it. After forcefully telling me to leave, Mr. Ayo runs out to my car and says the manager wants to speak to you but "its on speaker because you're not touching my phone". He also blurted out that if I wanted to call corporate so they can also tell me I'm wrong -- that I could. So here I am. Mr. Ayo explained how there's nothing more he can and will do for me and if I don't leave he will contact the police. I'm not sure who will read this or if anything will take place at this point, but its highly unfortunate what I had to go through just to be heard and taken serious as a young woman who again, only needed tires installed. Mr. Ayo needs to be dealt with (by corporate -- who he's clearly not afraid of) or at the least, needs to be consciously aware of his smart remarks and temper when dealing with customers moving forward. Mr. Ayo was determined to paint me out to be a "problem customer" when it was him who was in fact, out of line. I scheduled an appointment on August 8, 2024, for a tire replacement stating exactly what tire I needed change and my car. I called on Saturday to confirm my date for Monday at 3pm. When I arrived at the shop, I was told I had to wait until the next day, but my tire was already delivered the rep then said they can't do my tire until 6pm. So, I waited and after waiting for almost an hour I was then told that they can't do run flats for my car. Please this is poor customer service! Do not go to this location if you need run flats done and make sure you clarify what you need done more than 4 times. read more

My truck was serviced at Mr. Tire Auto Service Centers 718 Cady Dr, Fort Washington, MD 20744 · 301) 248-1518 on March 19, 2022, for tire and nothing else. My husband waited for a while and later asked me to pick him up. Prior to that he had mentioned they had my all the tires off my truck and was preparing to install the new tires. After he left the shop, we received a call stating that my truck brakes needed to be changed out because the pad and rotors were bad. Thye could have mentioned the brakes prior to him leaving the shop, but I guess he would have asked to see the brakes and that would have spoiled the plan altogether. My husband proceeded to inform them that my brakes did not need to be changed and the technician asked my husband didn't he want his wife to be safe. I informed my husband to tell the technician that vehicle is being serviced at my ford dealership and that I have a packaged. My truck was already serviced, and my brakes were fine and because Mr. Tire claimed to scam me, I had my truck service again on the 23rd of March and I was informed that my brakes were fine by my dealerships, plus my brakes are under warranty. I will never trust them again and you shouldn't either. To recap my truck was in the shop for brakes only on March 19, 2022, and on March 22, 2022, my truck began to malfunction. I am from out of state and was very flustered with everything going wrong on my trip, including changing my tire alongside the interstate at 4:30 AM in the freezing rain, so I guess they win in betting I wouldn't notice before it's too late. I am now suspicious of the fact that I even needed a new tire, they had said my old was not patchable. but the "why" part changed when I asked to see the tire. So my husband purchased 4 new tires from TireRack.com. Had the tires sent to Mr.Tire to be put on and balanced which cost an extra $89.99. They put them on Saturday on Monday I brought my car back because the steering wheel began to shimmy. I was informed that the mechanic has jury duty and will bring it back in Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock. I arrived at 8 o'clock to be informed that I would be charged another $39.99 because they don't put a warranty on tires that were not purchased from them and their Master Mechanic left last week (not my problem). After arguing with the clerk he said he would not charge me for the balance check but if there is anything else wrong they would not be able to fix the issue. Note my steering wheel did not shimmy with the old tires on. After sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours I was then informed that my car was just getting to the back. I am not happy at all. While I appreciated the communication from the manager on duty throughout my visit I am deeply concerned about the lack of follow through and care given when I was first in the shop to get my tire replaced and oil change. I had my toddler son with me while driving, if my sensors were not working I could have been in tremendous danger with my tire losing air by the minute. I am disappointed that I had to take more time out of my day to go back to the shop that I entrusted with my car to get something fixed that should have been done the first time. At this point, I am unsure if I would return to this location and Mr. Tire's in general. When asked the question "was the service completed correctly the first time?" Yes and no. Yes, my tire was replaced with a new one and I added an oil change. However, upon completion of the service, while waiting in the parking lot before leaving I noticed that the tire pressure light came on. Upon inspection I noticed that the reading stated "20" psi, indicating that my tire was low, in addition to one of the mechanics flagging me to double check if he had fully tightened my oil cap. He double checked, in addition adding air to my tire, to get it to the appropriate pressure of 33 PSI. I left and began driving 10 miles or so down the road, only to have the tire light alert come on again. At this point, I had to pull to the side of the road, very hazardous, with my toddler son in the car to add more air in the tire. I continued to drive and stopped at the next destination. When I came out the store and started my car the tire light came back on, to reveal the tire had dropped back to 20 PSI. Again, I stopped, re-inflated my tire, only this time I left the tire sensor screen up. As I drove I periodically looked at the screen, to my horror I realized I was losing air every mile I drove. I contacted the store, told them what happened and they asked me to bring the car back. I did, the gentleman at the front desk took my car immediately into the garage, I waited for about 15 minutes before my car was back in the spot that I had left it in. When the rep came back and handed me my keys I had asked, "what happened?"; to which he stated "the valve stem was not fully tightened and that's why air was coming out". read more

I had my oil change and tires rotated in November 2020. My tire senior came on the next day that my front right tire pressure was low. I went to put air in and notice that wasn't the correct tire. Now, January 2021, it is time to get the oil change again. So, I asked the clerk this time when they rotate my tires that they reset my sensors. She tells me that they would charge me a half hour labor fee. Why would you change me for something that should be done when rotating tires? I will never patronized this establishment. Last week my car was towed to this location because it was not starting, honestly only came here because I knew I couldn't afford to tow it from Alexandria to Waldorf. It was dropped off Saturday evening and I received a call about what the issue was the following afternoon. I was told that the price would be $800+ it was the fuel pump and the part wouldn't arrive until Monday. So I agreed only because I was overwhelmed with all the different fuel pumps they sell online and I didnt want to get the wrong one and have other issues. Monday rolled around and I get a call that they put the part in but it's not the correct part and they didn't know it wasn't the right one until the put it in so now I have to wait until it arrives on Wednesday. Wednesday came and no call so I called and was told the part is not there but they are still expecting it that day they closed that evening and no call. Thursday comes and around 2 my father informs me he got my car now I'm unsure if it was just sitting and nobody bothered to call or if he just happened to show up at the right time. I get in my car for the first time on Friday, notice a slight gas smell but I figured since they just did work it would fade. Noticed the car also was sounding different and that same day it did the same type of hesitation it had done when not starting but actually started. Sunday afternoon I filled my tank. Monday morning I get in the car and it smells like gasoline, so I put down the windows not knowing where the smell was coming from and head to work. I decided I would leave work early and return to mr. tire. Get in my car and once again I hear the hesitation. I arrived at mr tire and tell the man, whose name I didn't get, that my car smells like gas and that it was hesitating again. He tells me I should go to my dealer if there's still an issue with that. Another man who was at the desk says that the fuel pump is under the seat and they had to take the seat out in order to put the pump in. And if I wanted the smell gone he'd charge me and shampoo the carpets and what not and air the car out. Now I'm not a mechanic obviously so I'm not sure how the smell would be very faint the day after but be so strong 4 days later. When I said something about if there what If there was a problem with the fuel pump when I take it to the dealer both guys told me it's not the fuel pump. This man then says you want me to accommodate you and go see I said okay and went to the car. I sat a there for a minute thinking he was right behind me but he wasn't, when he finally came out he says now what's the issue. I told him I just said my issue seeing as in he was sitting right there listening to everything I just said. He says I want you to tell me again then gets some type of attitude starts to close my door and says have a nice day I'll talk to you later. Seriously? That's how you treat customers? At no point was it I'll check things out for you seeing as in we just put the part in . If this gas smell story was true nobody thought to say oh hey there may be a gas smell present until you air out the car? What happened to customer service? If I just paid $800+ is it that hard to just come check out what I'm saying instead of trying to prove me wrong. So now on top of this $800 I have to go to my dealership and pay them to run a test just to see if there is issues with the fuel pump or if in fact there is another issue as these men said there was. Their customer service is just horrible. Mr. Tire gets a bad rep and with employees like these I can see why. At this point I'm thinking I would of much rather paid the even higher towing cost to get to my car dealer in Waldorf where I would of dealer with much better customer service and reassurance. TL;DR - needed tire replaced, they broke my tire pressure sensor & put lug nuts on backward. Will not be returning. I brought my car in on a late Saturday afternoon for a tire replacement. I waited for around 3 hours, which I expected since it was an emergency walk-in. When it was finished though - the man at the register told me they had broken my tire pressure sensor in the process of replacing my tire. When I asked what the next steps were - instead of calmly explaining how they remedied the situation - the man started getting an attitude, accusing me of interrupting him. I let this slide because he said they repaired the broken sensor gratis. However, at my subsequent oil change and tire rotation a couple months later at my new auto repair shop - I was informed that whoever last replaced my that tire had put the lug nuts on backwards. This place is named Mr. Tire and literally can't even change a tire correctly. Needless to say I will be taking my service elsewhere and imploring others to do the same. Lastly, it looks pretty suspicious that they have such good ratings on Google when they have such low ratings on Yelp. Most of the 5 star Google reviews have been written in a relatively short amount of time by people who only have 1 review to their account...which are pretty huge red flags as far as false reviews go. read more

Had been going to this Mr. Tire for 11 years with 2 cars. Every problem I've encountered involved Chris, who is a very miserable, mean, bitchy person. Next to the last time I was at this establishment, I was sitting in the waiting room, telling a young lady how I was satisfied with the place until a few of the mechanics started leaving. Out of no where we hear Chris arguing with a customer (made a liar out of me). But I also realize, the times I've had issues ONLY when Chris has been there. Fast-forward, they kept my car overnight, as the problem was the gear shift. I was told, by Chris, they would do a diagnostic on the car and give me a call the following day. I waited for the call, by 1:30pm I called and was told they hadn't looked at my car; every time I called back, Chris answered the phone and acted like I was bugging him for checking on the progress of my car, since no one bothered to call me by 4pm I was told I would need to see another business (beside them) to look at the transmission. I opted to get the car towed to the dealership (which I'm glad I did, as it was not the transmission, but the actual gear --good thing is the repairs and labor were covered under warranty). Chris initially said I would have to pay $89 for the diagnostic, but I had no intentions of paying and I guess he realized that, when I walked in, so he told the guy at the counter, "just give her keys, no charge". I knew this place was going downhill, when all of the good guys, who had great customer service, explained what was wrong and what needed to be fixed, etc. started leaving; bc management sucked! I will NEVER patronize this Mr. Tire and really thinking hard on the whole Mr. Tire franchise, as none, in the DMV have great ratings! Before the summer of 2014, I would give this location 3 1/2 stars, but since the few good mechanics have left and Chris is more visible, they get a 1/2 star. read more

I've never been to Mr. Tire before as I recently moved to Fort Washington and have relied on a service contract with the dealer from which I purchased my car. On Saturday, I was compelled to find a mechanic near my house when an alarming vibration/noise developed in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that made me question whether my vehicle was safe to drive, especially since I have a young child. I had previously been to the dealership many times asking whether there was a transmission issue with my car but the dealership performed "software updates" and assured me my car was functioning perfectly each time. I asked the guys at Mr. Tire to ensure my car was roadworthy and to diagnose and correct a tire or brake issue that was causing the noise and vibrations. I was a bit concerned that I did not ask for an estimate (especially since I am a non-car savvy woman) but realized that I needed to have this done no matter what. The two gentlemen at the reception desk were very accommodating and told me that they would take my car immediately. They took down my information and I sat in the very comfortable (awesome couch, tv, interesting magazines) waiting room for about an hour with my young son. I came out front to ask about status and as I did so the mechanic happened to walk in and advised me that all the obvious tire, axle and brake related issues could be ruled out. I immediately realized I had a major major problem. The mechanic (who the other guys lauded as highly experienced, the "best"), told me that I had a driveline related issue that was quite serious and would be costly to repair. He recommended that I call Chrysler immediately. I asked if they could do the work and the three gentleman suggested that this was a job that I should try to get handled by Chrysler under the warranty. I knew my regular warranty was up but I have since learned something this serious is covered by a different warranty. The mechanic also mentioned that I also needed two front tires. When I offered to set up an appointment to have the tires replaced by Mr. Tire, the mechanic and his colleagues recommended that Instead of spending the money today I first speak with Chrysler. When I asked how much the diagnostic they performed cost they simply informed me that the inspection was without charge. I could not believe this and insisted on paying for their time. They refused and were so upstanding that they not only helped me get the unbiased truth about my vehicle, but they put themselves and their bottom line behind that. All I can say is that I highly recommend that anyone who needs routine or special service on their vehicle strongly consider using Mr. Tire. I know I will be using them for the service on our Audi as well as on my Jeep assuming I still own it after another (not the selling) dealership determines the real issue. I am so grateful for the outstanding service I received right here in my neighborhood. Highly recommend!!!! read more

Called to make an appointment on a Saturday, a very nice man who also helped check me in upon arrival tells me just to just drop it off and they'll take care of it. Ok, sweet! I drop it off at 11, he says it'll be done by 2:30. They are super busy so that sounds reasonable. Come 4:30, still no call so I call them. "Oh yea, we had a question for you, did you want your rear roters and pads replaced?" Quote was too high and beau can do the work anyway so I decline. He says "okay so they have to get the tires on, come by in 30. Oh wait, you also wanted an alignment, give them an hour." Sssoooooo.....what were you doing with my vehicle between 11 & 4:30??? If you needed an answer from me prior to proceeding with the work order, you should have called! Isn't that why you took down my phone number?? That's an entire day without my car. Get there to pick her up, cost is $175 for mounting/balancing/alignment (very reasonable - I had a coupon). Just on some weird hunch, I say "so, you performed the alignment, correct?" "Ummmm, let me check on that." Goes back to the mechanics, answer is no. Awesome, glad I asked?? Otherwise that's $100+ for nothing, literally. Plus they keep the paper with all the useful information/notes about your car. I just happened to notice it said the tire pressure was set to 35 psi. My car specifies a psi of 26...max load 30. Checked it when I got home (although it was obvious just driving) and sure enough, way over-inflated. So...oops again. What it boils down to, folks, is you had better be paying very close attention and definitely check their work if you must patronize this place. I went in for a tire repair with a "free" coupon. After waiting around for an hour for someone to come in to fix the repair, I leave and come back. It takes an hour to fix the tire when I return but suddenly my brakes go out when they're backing my truck out. It seems awfully suspicious that my brake lines go out and I have a $1000 bill!!! They only "fix" the rear breaks. The bill I receive strangely omits the hourly cost of the breaks and just a flat charge "$900" with out how long it took. read more

I took my car to Mr. Tirr because my tire was making a noise like (boink boink) as I was driving. However, the tire didn't look flat. So, I went on Saturday, September 19th. I explained to the guy working about the sound that my tire was making. He told me that it sounded like my wheel bearing. He said that he didn't have time to look at it right away because there were other cars in front of me. It was around 2pm. He said that if that he recommend me leave my vehicle there and he would take a look at it. I was not trying to pay for an Uber so I told him that I would come back. He told me to drop off my car in the morning. I told him that I would prefer to wait for my car. He told me that there would be a lot of people there in the morning and I couldn't stay because of social distance so I would have to leave my car there. I asked him how long does a wheel bearing take to fix? He said an hour. I told him that I didn't want to pay an Uber to leave and come back just for an hour. So, he told me that he would give me an appointment for Sunday, the following day at 1pm. I returned the following day at 1pm and the guy working said that he could not honor my appointment because they were too busy. I asked why didn't they call and let me know that they were cancelling my appointment. He said that he was there by himself like a chicken with his head cut off and I had to reschedule. I rescheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd at 4pm. However, I was disappointed because the first guy said that it wasn't safe for me to drive. So, Tuesday, I went back and the guy from Saturday was working. He took my keys and went for a test drive. My 8 year old daughter and I noticed something white on the tire when he drove off and returned. So, when he returned he said, "I know what your problem is." I said, "yes my daughter and I noticed something white on the tire." He said yes, you have a nail on the tire, but you problem is a rack and pinion. I said what? He said rack and pinion? I said rack and pinion? He said yes. I said can you spell it? So, he did and I texted rack and pinion to my daughter so I wouldn't forget. I said ok, how much is that? He said $1500. I said, I will bring my car back after payday. He said that there are 2 cars in front of you. I said for what? He said to patch up the tire. I said, "well how much will that be?" He said $52. So, I said, "I will bring it back." He looked surprised that I didn't leave my car to get the tire repaired. So, the following evening I called AAA to take off the tire and put on the spare. After the technician put on the spare, the car felt fine. So, I called Lexus of Rockville and made an appointment for Saturday, September 26th because I had a tire warranty. I told them that Mr. Tire said that my rack and pinion needs to be replaced. So, Lexus of Rockville kept my car and gave me a loaner because they were very busy. However, they called me to inform me that they repaired my tire and therr wasn't anything wrong with my rack and pinion. So, I picked up my car on Tuesday and went to Mr. Tire on Wednesday, September 30th. They guy who told me that I needed my rack and pinion replaced was working. So, I told him that I went to the Lexus dealership and and they said that there wasn't anything wrong with my rack and pinion. So, I feel like he tried to charge me $1552 for a tire repair. He insisted that the Lexus dealership was lying to me because they didn't want to repair the rack and pinion. I told him that I feel like he saw that I was a single female with kids and assumed that I didn't know anything about cars and tried to rip me off. He said, "are you calling me sexist?" I said, "yes, I think you tried to rip me off because I am a woman." So, he said, "get out of my store!" I said, "I will get out of your store, but I am going to give you a bad review." He pointed to the door and yelled, "get out of my store." I said, "fine, I will get out." So, my daughters and I left. However, I am convinced that he tried to rip me off!!! read more

Very dishonest, price gouging shop. Beware! Just as an example, they charged me just under $1000 to install four O2 sensors. A set of four sensors is normally like $50, but they charged $600. Then charged $78 apiece to install them. To make it even worse they had just changed two of the sensors less than a year ago so their work must not be very reliable if they thought the parts THEY installed only a year ago already went bad and had to be replaced. I have more examples but that is as good an example of their price gouging as any other I would provide. Will never go back. read more

My son went in to have a rim replaced. They told him the car was not safe to drive, the wheel bearing are damaged and it needs to be repaired. We just got the car a Maryland safety inspection and repairs done. I suspected bs, so I had my son take the car back to where we had the original work done. They said they're was absolutely nothing wrong with the car and that Mr. Tire has a reputation of ripping people off. read more

Took car to get AC compressor over 1000 dollars of work done. Part replaced and malfunction due to lack of examination of other parts. Through research a flush must be done before a new AC compressor is replaced. They never requested or did that. Put in a new AC compressor from my warranty they did not on file due to the fact the firs t time car was fixed employee pocketed the money and was fired but they still honored warranty with my receipt of course and put in another AC compressor without doing a flush and charge me for labor. Now new AC compressor has malfunctioned. Over 1500 on AC and still no AC. Bad FRANCHISE THEY TOLD ME IM JUST SCREWED BASICALLY. NEXT STOP COURT. Sucks what service you get for your money. Loyal to that place let them replace a part in Mercedes and I felt I was hussled then and spent 2000 then. Be careful of Mr. Tire! Review your location of choice! Out of my money and still in 97degree heat so can't drive car SMH. read more

So there I was, 3:30 pm on a Sunday with a nail in my tire. Sweaty, irritated and ready for a row, I arrived at Mr. Tire. Ricky was at the front desk and greeted me with a big smile and assurance that he would have me on my way shortly. Defused by his cheer but not really believing a word he said, I gave him my keys, sat down in the comfortable lounge and commenced watching old reruns. About 30 minutes later, in the middle of a riveting Murder She Wrote episode, another gentleman with a broad smile, Terry, told me my car was ready. Whaat? No way! I went out to make sure it was my car they were talking about and indeed it was! Not only did they do a great job fixing my tire and getting me out of there quickly, they made my day with their smiles! Great job, guys! read more

For simple maintenance, ie. oil change, fluids checked, etc., I wouldn't hesitate. Polite and professional. BUT, when your repair requires parts, be very suspicious of the price being charged to you. Parts from your local auto parts store are a third the price that this place charges. When questioned about being charged full retail, I was told that this price is actually a sale price and the Retail price is even more. (water pump that I priced online for $60 on the high end was charged to me at $150) I have no trouble acknowledging that shops need to cover overhead, but be reasonable! read more

I went to Fort Washington Auto and Tire Center around October 30, 2017 for an oil change. Once the oil change was completed I was told that I would need my back brakes done. I said ok I will come back since my family was going to be on the road for the Thanksgiving break. Around November 9, 2017 I went back to have the brakes done and asked if I could have my tire pressure checked for the road trip. Maybe a day after the service was completed I started to hear a whistling sound coming from the wheel area but, I was not sure which area so I had my husband list. We decided to take it back that weekend and have the issues looked into. At this time, I was told that I would need my front brakes and rotors done and it would cost me $500. I did not have that going into a holiday and having the trip at the same time. So, I told them not at this time. After we got back from the trip we had the rotors and brakes put on somewhere else. However, only to discover that the front brakes and rotors were not as bad as I had been told originally and that the rear rotors and brakes were horrible. My husband went back to the service center on January 5, 2018 to speak with them about the findings. After they took the car back my husband was told "oh it is a caliber issue". My husband asked why wasn't this issue caught the first time when the breaks were done and why would they tell us it was the front brakes and rotors". Also, we had it looked at for the whistling and this was never said. The response was that they'd replace the rear brakes and rotors only if we paid for the caliber and hose. My husband asked if they would just replace the brakes since they had us pay knowing that, that was not the issue and was told that they did not feel comfortable doing that knowing that there is a caliber issue. However, they were comfortable trying tot get me to pay for things I did not need and sending me on the road knowing there was another issue. That is bad business, bad customer service and very shady. A report was written for my husband saying that we refused service even when free but it is not free when you tell us you will only correct a problem if we pay for something else. Our money was not refunded for the original brake not were the brake pads replaced. Oh and nothing mentioned about us having to go by other brakes and rotors that we did not need at the time. read more
