The location in Greensboro's Friendly Center was our "go to" spot. Convenient. Professional. Something changed in the last year, and they should have rebranded and gotten a new sign. This place should be called "Mr. Ripoff." Two recent examples: I asked them to look at my right rear tail light on my Honda to see why it wasn't working. They wanted to charge me $470 to replace it. I found a new tail light on Amazon for $69. I replaced it myself. My wife asked them to replace the starter on her Toyota minivan. They wanted $759 ($500 of this was for a rebuilt starter). I got a rebuilt starter for $160 at an auto parts store. I got a rebate of $25 of that when I returned the old starter to the store. I'm no mechanic, but a friend did the job for free because he likes to do stuff like that. Bottom line: Even if you know nothing about cars, go somewhere besides Mr. Ripoff. read more

Got a flat tire at 6:40pm and went straight to Mr. Tire at Friendly Center. Tony, saved our night by helping us get 4 new tires. He was great and made the entire experience painless. Ironically, I had an appointment for the next day to get the car inspected. Tony took care of that for me as well as the tires. I highly recommend Tony and Mr. Tire. read more

I went the day before to order tires for my 150. They said it would take 2-3 hours as they had to get the tires from the warehouse. When I walked out, we had agreed to them getting tires and I would bring the truck in first thing the next day they would mount them. I arrived around 8 am and they had not picked up the tires. They said to come back at 11. Around 9am they called to say around 11:30. I waited until 12 then I went to another place that had my tires in stock and mounted them in 30 minutes. The store called while I was waiting at the other place. They got rude and made it sound it was my fault. One of their other stores might be better but I will never see it as this spoiled Mr Tire for me. read more

I always bring my car here first for service, because I've always received excellent care from them. No one has ever spoken down to me, and when I ask for clarification, they'll use layman's terms so I can follow along. When I've been low on funds, they've gone over my options with me, giving me their best advice on quality versus price. (I even once had someone walk me through doing temporary home maintenance for an issue I was having because a massive repair on a 15 year old car wasn't worth it, and they knew that.) Most recently, I got an inspection done here at about 6 PM. I dealt mostly with, Jackson, who was courteous, despite me being unfocused and exhausted. Then, when I asked Billy last minute for an additional service while Jackson was working on my vehicle, he truthfully told me they wouldn't have time that night and offered to make me an appointment for it. Now, I have ALWAYS appreciated it when they've squeezed me in, but it's also super nice to know that they're honest about their time expectations. It means that I've never waited in their shop in vain. Additionally, the reason they couldn't fit in the oil change for me is because they'd received an emergency call right before I'd asked to tack it on. When that client later asked for the same service in addition to his necessary repair, they politely turned him down as well, citing that they'd already had to turn me down because of his emergency call. So, in one evening, they were kind enough to address someone's emergency despite the late hour, honest about their capabilities so I wasn't waiting around on a 'probably don't have time', and fair in how they dealt with their clientele. It's really hard to beat that. read more

Put way too much oil in my car After checking the dip stick it was like double what it should've been. Went there for a simple oil change Because I didn't feel like doing it myself this time. I should've checked the oil level like i normally do before driving the car. Drove the car for about 2 hours saw light smoke Starting to appear. My first time. I did not have an appointment.My concern was a nail or something causing a recurring slow leak. Mr.Nix,the owner gave me the fee up front. I went to the gym.Upon return was told they did not find a foreign body despite taking it off and looking.They applied a sealant .Also checked the other tires which were low. I've been going to Mr Tire in the Friendly Shopping Center for at least five years, and I've never been disappointed. I've gone there for everything from oil changes to tires to brake work, and every time I've gone, I've found the utmost in customer service. For years, I've often dreaded going to an auto repair shop because I worried I'd have to deal with double-speak and unnecessary charges. I've never run into that at Mr. Tire. Moreover, I've had to deal with two flat tires during work, and the folks at Mr. Tire -- Elisha and Jeff - have gotten me in and out of their shop in less than 40 minutes. In doing, what was once a headache quickly became a nuisance easily fixed. Meanwhile, Mr. Tire has worked with me on many occasions with our family's cars -- so much so I feel comfortable asking them for advice on the timetable of car maintenance and what to expect with any particular charge in the future. So, yeah, I like them, and I've recommended Mr. Tire to several neighbors dealing with car troubles. I will continue to do that. They've earned my trust. read more

When I arrived I was treated with upmost customer service (the kind you rarely find anymore!) They took my vehicle straight back and were finished in a very timely manner. We have lived in the area for four years now, and at first it was out of convenience that we went to Mr. Tire (it was Clark's at the time). Honestly, we have not had one bad experience or felt ripped off at any point. It has truly been the exact opposite. Each team member has been both helpful and friendly and most of them have in fact worked there through the ownership shift. We have gone here for everything from inspections to oil leaks to new tires. Each time we are met with fair pricing and employees that go above and beyond to make sure we get what we need and nothing extra. It is quite a shame to see such poor reviews when we personally know that it's just not the case. Hopefully anyone reading this that is in need of a good shop to go to will give this Mr. Tire location a chance. Thanks for the years of epic service, y'all. Appreciate it greatly! read more

Had a great experience here a couple months ago with a walk-in tire check and knew I'd be back. Made an appointment for an oil change and state inspection and was in and out in an hour. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff made sure I was taken care of and didn't leave with any questions. Quality work, great prices, considerate folks. I've never had a "my car place" til now! Took my car here for inspection and an oil change because it was convenient. Was quoted $43 for the oil change (gulp!)... then told, they would give me the discount rate of $29. When I got a call back, they naturally said I "barely passed" inspection and suggested over $900 worth of tires. Um, thanks, but no. When I picked up my car, the oil change ended up costing $41... (what the hell is a "shop supply fee" for $8.28?). Oh well, lesson learned. I suggest you ask for details up front. read more

I had a very disapointing experience at Mr. Tire. My vehicle requires run-flat tires (it doesn't have a spare tire). Mr. Tire tried to sell me some off-brand regular tire. If I didn't know any better they would have put me in a situation where I could have been completely stranded with a flat tire. I asked that they get me 4 of the same tires that were on the vehicle when I brought it in. They quoted me an exorbitant price on the new tires. I just mentioned the store "Tire Rack" and they immediately knocked over $300 off the price. Again, if I didn't know better I would have way over-paid for these tires. Last but not least, I did some work on the car myself this weekend and needed to take the wheels off. Mr. Tire used WAY WAY too much torque to tighten my lug nuts. I had to get out a long breaker-bar just to get them loose. My car ony requires a modest 90 ft-lbs of torque for the lug nuts. These were jammed on with at least 140 ft-lbs of torque- they were off the scale of my torque wrench. I'm surprised they didn't strip the lug nuts. I thought we were past the days of auto mechanics trying to rip you off at every turn, but aparently not. These guys are either working on commission and/or completely incompetent. I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Made an appointment 2 days ago to have my rear brake pads replaced. The appointment was for 7:30 AM, and I was told it would take 45 minutes to an hour. Also told I would get a call to let me know if it needed rotors, which would greatly increase cost. Quoted prices were all reasonable. So I went and had breakfast. No call. Came back at 8:45 to find my car on the rack and all 4 wheels off. Tech came out and told me I didn't need rotors (good) but they hadn't STARTED work (very bad). Forty-five minutes to an hour longer. No good reasons why. Unacceptable. Some people have to go to work. read more

i can't begin to express my disgust with this business! i took my car in for inspection and was told it failed and that i needed four new tires and a windshield wiper to the tune of $650,00. my husband decided to get an inspection elsewhere, and we learned that the tires and windshield wipers are fine, and we passed inspection! don't ever go to this liar, cheat, and thief for an inspection. wonder how many people these bastards have duped. would love to see them go out of business! read more

Never really had a problem when it was Clark Tire. Always had great service and very cheap prices. HOWEVER- since the change over it's been nothing but terrible coming here. After an $800 charge (when other places quoted me at $600 max) and a day later than quoted to fix my car, they locked my keys inside my car!! Total miscommunication on their part and were unwilling to get my keys out for me when I have no other spare key! Had to pay a locksmith $90 to get my key out while my car was sitting in their parking lot! So livid! Glad we're moving- we will not be coming back here. read more

They were beyond rude, very argumentative, and tried pushing a brake job on us when the car was just checked two months ago. They didn't even perform the service that WAS requested (alignment), or even check it. It was never this way when it was Clark Tire. Brian from Greensboro Mr Tire is a lying cheat. He failed an inspection thinking I would spend 935 dollars on tires when the car didn't need them.
